I hope that's the correct salutation.

Or "Joyous Bunker Hill Day"?

It was a battle in the American Revolution. Actually took place on Breed's Hill.
No idea where Breed's Hill is. Only Wally would say "Nice Obelisk!!!". We don't actually have a greeting - we usually say "Have a GRAND Bunker Hill Day, amongst those that know about it :rotfl2:

No, it's short for "Dorchester Day". Dorchester is a suburb of Boston. Used to be a largely Irish community; now its very diverse and runs between slums and gentrified neighborhoods. Spotted clothing is optional. :rotfl2:

But honestly, what is a "band"?
According to Dictionary.com a Band is:
a. a group of instrumentalists playing music of a specialized type: rock band; calypso band; mariachi band.
b. a musical group, usually employing brass, percussion, and often woodwind instruments, that plays esp. for marching or open-air performances.
So a Drum Corps IS a band, no? :confused3
Why wouldn't they want to be called what they ARE?

A marching band has woodwinds, a drum and bugle corps does not. No clarinets, saxaphones or flutes (sorry Wally) :lmao:
We are not geeks, and we understand if you have no interest in the activity.
I would, however, encourage you to at least give it a try. Nothing like 60 brass players belting out at top volume in your face!:worship:

Ah, but the definitions say:
a. a group of instrumentalists playing music of a specialized type: rock band; calypso band; mariachi band.
b. a musical group, usually employing brass, percussion, and often woodwind instruments, that plays esp. for marching or open-air performances.
Notice that in "b." it says "often woodwind instruments". Not that they are a requirement.
So, if a drum corps has brass and percussion, it is by definition, a BAND.
A specialized kind of band perhaps, but a band nonetheless.
Now I get it! :thumbsup2
The "band is a bad word" thing is all just egotistical nonsense because they think they're better than the other marching bands. When they're really just a marching band without woodwinds.
Really, they should just learn to play nicely together, don't you think. ::yes::
