We are thinking of joining...I'm just curious if anywone knows if there is a list anywhere of the points needed for the cruise. We have two cat. 7 cabins booked for Oct. 09. It is costing us $6000, so I'm thinking it might be wise to use that $$ to put towards points, but I have no idea how many points we would need. Also, if we bought in now, would we be able keep our same cabins? We are right next to family and want to stay in the same location. Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure if they're posted online, or not, but I happen to have my points book on my desk (sad, I know).

You said you have two rooms, but can you post how many people per room, and their ages if they are kids? I'll add it up and post it right back for you.

As for keeping your rooms, I'm honestly not sure, but I wouldn't doubt if Disney could work some magic.

That depends on which cruise in October 2009 you are going on. Here are the points charts for the 2009 cruises:

Basically they have to have enough points that will reserve, then 'rent' specific DVC villas for cash to cover the cost of your cruise. If you're spending $6k, then DVC would have to rent out at least $6k worth of DVC units for cash, using your points.

Don't forget, if you do use points, there's also a $95 processing fee.

Frankly, I don't think the use of points for the cruise is worth it unless and until DVC starts selling a DVC cruise membership. I'm not sure why DVC hasn't pursued that yet anyway. I've always thought it would be an excellent idea, and I'm sure they would easily sell it out in no time.

I'd consider using points for one person and paying for the other person/people - it saves money and it's not a tremendous amount of points (depending on the time of cruise/cabin location), I'm talking a 4 nighter. I am looking into it, I just have to find someone who wants to go with me:confused3 :confused3 My kids are in college so they are looking at a different cruise line, they think they are too "old" for a Dis cruise:scared1: , and their schedules are so different from each other and from mine. My DH will not get on a plane, no matter what we try! And for just the 4 night cruise flying is the only way to go....

anyone out there want to join me?:)

Just keep in mind that the points are listed "per person based on double occupancy", meaning that 2 people per room are double the points cost of what is listed. If you go alone in a stateroom, the rate is 1.5 times what is listed. The same math applies to the charts for cash listings of DCL cruises.

Oh, I agree! Multiply the # of DCL points out by what we pay per point for maintenace fees and see what the total is. It comes very close to the cost of a DCL cruise on cash. We get absolutely no deal on the DCL.
