We would like to do Key West on our own rather than pay for DCL excursions. We're interested in the Conch Train Tours, Key West Aquarium, Shipwreck Historeum, and Trolley Tours. Are there any that would be recommended or not recommended for us and our 4 year old twins. Also, how easy will it be to get from where the ship docks to these places. Can we walk or will we have to take a taxi?

I did this on a carnival cruise, and i believe the cost was $18 per adult. It actually met us at the ship. The price was no different than if we had walked over the the depot. I would really recommend this because you got to see all the highlights in about an hours time, and then you are free to walk up and down Duval street. It is not too far of a walk back to the ship. With four year olds, i would think it would be nice to not get them all pooped out with a lot of walking right off the bat. My son and I sat on the last seat that faced backwards from everyone else, and we got some of the best pictures because there was no obstructed view for us when taking the pictures.

Hi
I have posted this info on our 5/11/2002 Innaugural Thread but here it is again. Do Key west on your own. It is postage stamp sized and can easily be done via walking. I am on a different server without favorites right now, but you can find info on the other thread on the Conch Trolley, Bone Bus, Taxis, Mopeds, Maps, Kellys (Duval Beach Club) and loads of other stuff. Go to the last page of the thread and work backwards a few pages and click on the links. Enjoy

The conch train tour is great for 1st time visitors to Key West.
Key West may be small but it's a lot of walking, especially for a 4 yr old. See it all on the train first then go back and explore (by walking) whatever interested you the most.
