I have been reading these boards for about a month now trying to get lots of info (and having a great time).

We are on a 4 day in September.

Here are my two current questions:
1)Hairbraiding: I've been reading about don't do it here, do it at this place, this place was too crowded, etc. Well, where should we have it done? We don't want to waste any of our precious Castaway Cay day doing it. So, do they do it at sea on the 4 day? Where in Nassau is it ok to do it and where isn't it ok to do it? Also, my daughter has long hair which is VERY thick. We obviously don't want to do her whole head. What is the style called where they cornrow the front and leave the rest down and how much does that cost?

2)Several folks have mentioned color changing t-shirts, etc that are availabe in Nassau. Where?

That's it for now. I'll have more I'm sure. Thanks!

I can only help with Question 2.

There is a place called 'Del Sol' that sells items that change color when they're in sunlight. They were a couple of blocks into the shopping area from Nassau, we walked there easily. I think it was on Bay Street and we bought some things for our grandkids and they enjoyed them.

It was discussed and demonstrated at the shore excursion talk that the cruise director had.

Here's a link to their Website:Del Sol Website (http://www.justaddsun.com)

It doesn't show any locations but if you look in the FAQ section, it gives a number to call to inquire about them.

Thanks albiats...

I checked out the website and I already know which t-shirts to buy. What a great gift to bring back for friends too. The problem is that I want too many things and could spend a fortune. We will definitely be going to this store in Nassau. According to what you said it shouldn't be hard to find is that right?

Great...Now, I still need help with the hairbraiding thing...Anyone?

I got my hair braided on Castaway Cay, and will be getting it done again at Castaway Cay in less than 2 weeks when I embark on my second 4 day disney cruise. From what I've heard they do do it on the boat, and it's the same price as Castaway Cay, but it's always very busy. I personally wouldn't trust nassau because, from what I saw, they use unsterolized equipment and aren't necessarily easy to talk to or bargin with. My suggestion is that if you do get it done on Castway Cay, get of the boat asap and go straight to the hair braiding station. As long as you'll get there early enough, you'll have plenty of time on the beach etc. The braiding is done quickly (especially with just the corn rows like you mentioned) and very efficiently. Mine lasted quite awhile and looked great the whole time I had them in.
Hope I helped!

Sonya Francisco,

If you can, do it on the ship. The prices are the same and I think they do a better job. I cannot comment on Nassau or CC, but we had our daughters done at Coki Beach (St. Thomas) and the cornrows have already come out. I was just more satisfied with the staff on the ship. They did it by the Goofy pool on the wood decking that was covered. Just MHO! As far as the comment of it being busy, it probably is busier on the 4 day, but we were at the pool at 9:00 and noticed someone already in a chair. When we inquired, we got the first appointment at 10:00 with Carla. This was the first day the offered it. They were full for the day by the time my 2nd DD got it finished. They will not take advance ressies for the next day. :)

I was reading a Navigator on Barb's or Dave's site about excursions. There was a map of the area shops, and descriptions. There was also a coupon in there that if you presented that or your borading pass, you could geta free color-changing ring. Cool, huh?

So, what you're saying is that they do it on the ship on the 4 day cruise on sea days? Or were you on a 7 day? If they do it on the ship, I'd definitely do that but I'm thinking they only do that on the 7 day cruise. The daughter that had it done on the ship...how long did the cornrows last? How long did it last for the one who had it done in ST Thomas? What did you have done and how much did it cost?

Del Sol is also in St. Thomas (for any of you 7-dayers). It is right downtown and they have lots of cool stuff. My favourite is the colour changing nail polish. When you put it on it is (for example) gold. When you go in the sun, it turns pink. My 4 yo daughter loves it!
