Hi all,

I'm a travel agent and send lots of people to WDW. In chatting with a client who just returned from WDW about her trip, she mentioned that she was only allowed to order $40 worth of food at her table service restaurant for her 1 ts. dining credit (drink, entree, and desert). She said anything above that she had to pay as additional with her gratuity.

I know there are some menu items that are excluded from the dining plan (basic) and that appetizers aren't included. But I haven't ever heard of a maximum dollar amount combination for the 1 table service. Did my client misunderstand or has anyone else heard of this?

Never heard of this so I think your client misunderstood.

Thanks for the quick replies.

To be honest, I thought my client misunderstood for various reasons, but wanted to double check if anyone else had heard of this just in case.

There is no limit on the menu prices of food that can be ordered on dining plan credits. I don't know where your client got this. Was it at all restaurants they went to? Were they ordering appetizers (these aren't included anymore). There are very few excluded entrees/desserts so it's doubtful they were running up against exclusions.

When we go in Sept. it'll be our 5th time using DDP (4th time for free!) and we've never been told a limit. Glad to hear it was just a misunderstanding. :goodvibes

Was at Le Cellier last week and the Filet Steak was about $35 alone and at Capt Jacks and the Twin Lobsters were about the same. Over $40 total with drink and dessert and we were not charged. Most entrees with drink and dessert are not going to get you over $40 anyway with out the app.

Narcoossee's Surf and Turf - $59.99 (I think) and we did it on delux in April. For 5 of us (3 kids) our bill was 270.00 but we had dp. So, yeah you can order over 40.00.

Thanks for the clarification. I wonder if she was at a restaurant that had an entree over $40 that was excluded or at a 2 dining credit restaurant and they were trying to explain to her WHY it was excluded or took 2 credits.

I clarified with the client what she was saying, but In general the client seemed to misunderstand a few things regarding the dining plan.. I should've explained it better.

She chose to purchase things OOP like fish n chips versus using the dining plan, made a res for cinderellas table in the evening, but didnt realize it was during the Pirate and Princess party so ALSO ended up paying for the hard event ticket to just get into the park for that res too, and in the end had leftover credits. :sad2:

For this particular client, I think NOT having the dining plan would have been better. So anyway, yes, it was highly likely a misunderstanding.

she definately misunderstood. we have used the DDP twice a year since its inception, & there is no dollar limit on TS or CS (snacks used to flollow an "under $4" rule; now they are just marked). btw, our TS bills, excluding tip, have normally been approx $50+ per person, but included on the DDP as one TS credit.
certain items, such as shakes & specialty drinks, are not included on the plan & will incur an addtional charge........perhaps that is what she encountered:confused3

It does not seem that you did not explain the Dining Plan well enough. None of your other clients has had a problem, correct? Some people just don't, or can't, comprehend some things. Before anyone thinks I'm flaming, I'm one of "those" people. You can recite the - for example - entire Dining Plan brochure to me... but I need to have it in writing, and study it, and be able to refer to it, to completely understand.

You are correct, none of my other clients have had trouble with the dining plan. Most of them have thanked me for recommending it. :)
