I saw on Mousesavers that there was a package discount for October that came out last August. Assuming Disney does a similar deal this year... does anyone know the details of what exactly last year's discount entailed?

I know I saved $550 on my package using the Disney visa code in August. It was for a GF GV room.

Does anyone know what the discounts were last year and for what dates? Also, if you are already booked when the codes come out, can you call and have them apply the code?

Yes, you can call and apply the code if it is available for that resort and room catagory.
Wondering, does anyone remember what kind of rates (Ap or other) might have been offered last fall for poly, garden view? Thinking of switching.

Walt Disney World has released general public discount codes for package guests vacationing between September 30 and December 23, 2007. In addition to your room, this package includes a Magic Your Way Base Ticket for each day of your stay. The number of rooms available with this package are limited and must be booked by 9/26/07. For a Magic Your Way Package, ask for discount code ZQG; use code ZQH for a Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining.

For check ins between 9/30/07-12/23/07 Florida resident room-only rates became available on 8/16/07, exp 12/23/07
Disney has released discounted room rates for passholders and Florida residents for the end of September through md-December. Discounts are available for select resorts for most nights from September 30 through December 23. (The nights of November 21-24 and November 30-December 7 are excluded at non-DVC resorts, most likely due to Thanksgiving weekend and the Pop Warner Super Bowl invasion, while only the Thanksgiving dates are blocked at the DVC resorts.) There are two effective rate periods for this discount, with September 30-October 3, November 25-29, and December 8-19 carrying passholder rates of $59 per night in value resorts and $164 per night in a DVC studio. The remaining dates in the promotion period (except for the nights of November 21-24, which have no discounts due to Thanksgiving weekend) have nightly passholder rates starting at $79 for values and $194 for DVC studios. Florida resident rates are $5 higher than passholder rates. Minimum stay requirements apply for Friday and Saturday arrivals.
For check ins between 10/21/07-12/15/07 Florida resident room-only rates with dining gift card became available on 8/16/07, exp 12/15/07
An interesting twist on this deal is that, for certain check-in dates, you can get a Disney Dining Card with $20-$100 per room with your minimum 2-night reservation. This perk is available for stays with check-in dates between October 21-November 3, November 11-17 and December 9-15. The card can be used toward food & beverage only, and not toward merchandise.
For check ins between 10/21/07-12/15/07 Military room-only rates became available on 9/5/07
Active Duty and Retired Military with proper ID get 40% off "rack rates" at the official Disney World resort hotels for the following check-in dates: 10/21/07-11/3/07, 11/11/07-11/17/07 and 12/9/07-12/15/07. Limited availability - not all resorts will be available on the dates you choose. Use code FFR.
For check ins between 10/21/07-12/15/07 package discount for Disney Rewards® Visa® Cardholders became available on 9/27/07, exp 10/20/07
Disney VISA card holders can now book a specially priced package for stays at either Disney’s Saratoga Springs or Disney’s Old Key West resorts. Resort stays starting at $699 per adult for 5 nights in the resort, 6 day basic park passes, all taxes and fees, etc. This price is based on double occupancy in a studio at one of the two resorts. In addition to the great price, you will also receive a special $120 Disney Dining gift card to use during your stay. You will receive one card per room, not per person.
Available dates are between 10/21-11/3, 11/11-11/17, and 12/9-12/15/07, some dates may be blacked out, and it may be possible to find some dates available outside of the given dates, but unlikely.

I was about to book our 8 night POR with park hopper and dining trip for Nov 2007 but I got busy and didn't get back on the computer for a few days. When I got back on to book, the discounts came out in mid-August and the price difference in just 2 days was $600!!!:cool1: This was a lucky break for me because this was before I read these boards and I didn't know that there might be a discount coming. Thank God for the DIS!:disrocks:

Wow, Seahunt thanks for all the info. I think it's going to be a switch to the Poly for us. My mom had to drop out of the trip, so we are down to 2 deluxe rooms or 3 mods. With the hope of the Aug discounts, we're going to go for it!! :cool1:  :dance3: :yay:

I'm interested in knowing what kind of discount it is - as in how much? Does it discount the entire package - like tickets and dining?? We aren't going until October 2009, but I'm all for looking into discounts now!

I used the discount last year for our October trip and saved over $300! If the discount is like last year's, first, it will be offered to Disney Visa holders and then a few days later to the general public. It is a room only discount; I think it was 50% off each day for our value resort room. Just remember, only a certain amount of rooms can have the discount, so if you already have booked a trip, you might have to switch rooms or resorts to get the discount.

When the offer was made first to Disney Visa card holders, how did they notify you? I just got my visa card. Do they send you an email, or do you have to log into their website??

MJAJMOM:
You should get an email with details about the offer. If by chance, there are no rooms available, try again in the next few days when it's offered to the general public. That's what I did. Rooms pop up all the time; just keep trying or let your travel agent do it for you. (I used Dreams Unlimited.)
When I said it was "room only", I don't mean to imply that packages aren't discounted. We did have the package with tickets, but either way, it's the room that's discounted quite a bit. Good luck!

We are looking at going in October also! Do you think it is better to book a room and wait for the discounts to come out? Or, should we just wait for the discounts to come out and book whatever room is available with that discount? Thanks!

If there is a specific resort and area that you want, then go ahead and book it. You can always try to apply it when/if the discount becomes available and hopefully, use the code at that resort. Last year, I had reserved Pop Century, but no rooms were available with the discount, so I got ASMusic instead. (My family and I were very pleased with it.)

Will there be a discount for moderate resorts in October too? If I am booking a package through Southwest, staying at Disney, would I be able to call that resort and apply the discount for the room? Or do I have to book through Disney to get a discount?

Thanks to the Disboards, I learned of the Disney Visa code last August before my TA did. I called her and saved 1000.00 over 9 nights on my MYW package. She also used it for herself.
These boards are the best!!!:cool1:
