I'm not sure if anyone else is an SLDR but even if you are not this is an awesome bag! It's a Lowepro Passport Sling bag, I bought mine from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Passport-Sling-Camera-Black/dp/B0039NLS4C/ref=lh_ni_t_
Here are some pictures on how my stuff fits. Most of the pictures are with the expandable compartment closed.
This is the bag on me. You can adjust the bag to sit where ever you like. I am about 5'3" with a broad torso and I still had about 6" of strap I could have let out.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/9d324bc2.jpg?t=1300912148
This is the expandable compartment open. You can see it has a zipper which you can close when you do not need the added space.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/67a1a821.jpg?t=1300912179
This is the bag without the camera case inside and with the compartment open. There is quite a bit of space in there.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/fb9331ef.jpg?t=1300912206
This is everything I fit into the bag with the camera padding inside and the expanding compartment closed. I still had some room left over although not too much. My Rebel, two memory cards, autograph book, pen, wipes, wallet, and my little bag. The little bag contains all my small things like meds, band aids, shout wipes, and a few extra things. I will throw in ponchos and then that is usually everything I will take to the park. The bag also has two small inside pockets for cell phone (my iphone 4 fits) and the other could fit a small flip phone.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/d1098e18.jpg?t=1300912269
This is everything inside the bag. You can sort of see the two small side flaps. As you can see everything fits comfortably and is easily accessible.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/1efbb155.jpg?t=1300912289
This is the bag open with everything inside. It has two zippers and three outside pockets. The pockets are nice for park maps or small things my daughter picks up that doesn't really matter if they fall out. I don't think the pockets hang open like it says in some of the reviews on Amazon, although there isn't anything keeping things inside of them. The front pocket is very large for a water bottle although I don't really use it. It's a nice place to hold my cell phone while I take a quick picture or need both hands quickly.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm157/megkel3/f569b183.jpg?t=1300912311
Sorry there are so many pictures and it's so long. I think it's a great bag and a great price for a camera bag. It's not great if you plan on taking a lot of lenses but you could fit a flash in the camera compartment maybe another flash if you were clever about it. It's also plain black so although it's sort of feminine a male could wear it without looking too feminine.

Love this bag but it is too big for what I normally carry. I'm assuming the size they give is opened up, I would love a smaller version of this one.

DH and I spent waaayy to much time looking for "the perfect bag" for our trip last summer. We both wanted something either of us could use, be water repellent, and light weight. We ended up with the Stowaway Pack Backpack from LLBean. It was PERFECT. Lightweight, the straps are padded put have holes in them so they are breathable, it poured two or three times and everything stayed dry inside. I actually convinced my parents to buy one for their next trip (they've been using the same purple backpack for 10 years now). Here's the link to it (I'm hoping it works!) http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/63707?feat=816-CL1 I'm glad I didn't get a "girly" one DH ended up carrying it most of the time. :rolleyes1

Very similar to this one. Bought it at Wal-Mart. It has a holder for 2 water bottles (1 for me, 1 for DH), and you wear it on your hip. It is made for hiking.

Yay! I really hope you like it, it's such a great bag. I like the space in the bag especially since it can be expanded so if for some reason the room is needed it's there! It's easy to get things in and out and I am in love with the bag :rotfl:

Does this one zip up under the flap? I love the looks of it, just like to have them zip, not the pull strings.
So I just got the bag and unfortunately it's just a pull string :sad2: I really would have liked it to be a zipper but the pull strings are fine by me! Its also pretty good sized! Much bigger than I expected it to be. Hopefully you find a bag you like :goodvibes

Reading through this thread, I was trying to decide what bag would work best for me and I decided on the Vera Bradley Mini Hipster (I  VB!). I was even able to get the print I wanted, Sittin' in a Tree, at 25% off!
My first solo parks trip is in 2 days so I have my bag already and was testing it for comfort, weight, etc. I was pretty impressed with what I was able to fit in there: chapstick, flip camcorder, camera, 2 extra AA batteries, cell phone, small totes umbrella, pen, small pad of paper, cash, credit cards, nail file, and hand lotion! It isn't overly bulky and is a weight I can deal with all day.
I'm so used to having a stroller with me when going to the parks, so I can just load it down with whatever I want-but this time I AM SOLO!!!
Depending on the weather I will swap out the umbrella for sunscreen-although the weather for my week is still calling for rain everyday. :sad2: We will see what happens!

Oh, man! I thought I figured out the bag I want to take... and then I saw this one!
I have a Vera Bradley hipster and thought I wanted something smaller to take on my next WDW trip. So I bought the VB Rachel. I do have an DSLR camera, but figured I'd just take my little point & shoot.
Now I'm debating on whether I should take the DSLR... and if so, this would be the perfect bag!!!

Thanks for letting me know. I guess I'll keep looking. I really like to have things zipped up so if we are on rides that go upside down, etc. things def. won't fall out. Thanks again for the update.:thumbsup2

Wow, I'm loving that bag!! I have the Baggallini Messenger, but I don't know that I'd take it again to the park. I love how that bag of yours is wide, but more shallow, so you have easy access to your items. That might be one I'd get for all of my travel needs!

I actually read every. singe. post. (yes, all 100+ pages!) of this thread, and I must say all of you are tempting me to go buy a new bag!
I've only traveled to DLR but will be traveling to WDW next January. I usually wear a Dakine backpack, but it is a bit on the bigger side so when there's not much in it, the backpack gets kind of flimsy. I'm going to try a much smaller bag this time around when I go to DLR.
I don't pack too much, usually just my dSLR, a refillable water bottle, my wallet, a jacket and possibly a pair of light pants for in the evening. DBF always carries a larger-ish backpack, I don't know why because he tends to pack a lot lighter than me, but I guess he could carry my pants and jacket if I asked him nicely. :)
And as much as I'd love to go out and buy a bag, I have a couple of options here at my home already.
The first is a Timbuk2 Mini Metro bag in black and the other is a Coach bag. Both can be adjusted to either be shoulder bag or the straps can be adjusted to be longer and go cross body. I've already "tested" both out and put all my park gear into them and have tried to get a feel. The Coach bag is a lot more bigger than the Timbuk2 Mini Metro, and I'm kind of worried if it'll sit comfortably on my side if I'm riding on rides.
Has anyone used a Timbuk2 bag before? Also, if anyone would like to see pictures, I'd be more than happy to post.

I've used a Timbuk2 bag before. I can't find the one you are talking about ("Mini Metro"). Could you have meant "Mini Messenger"? I think that's the one I have. I wore it cross-body. It's a nice size, fit my mid-size camera + camcorder + sunglasses + lots of other stuff. It's not roomy enough to put clothing in, IMO. It sat comfortably on my hip, no problem with that. My only concern with this bag is that it doesn't zip shut on top, but the flap cinches down pretty well, so I think you wouldn't lose anything. I thought this bag might be water resistant, but it wasn't.
I don't take my Timbuk2 to Disney, in fact I don't use it much these days (not sure why, it's a nice bag!). For Disney, I prefer a Vera Bradley bag just because it's lighter weight, the straps are softer/more comfortable, and I want that top zipper.
I don't think I'd take a Coach bag to the parks if you might get caught in the rain or if you would ride water rides. It's too nice!

Trying to decide which bag to purchase to carry in the parks, and was hoping people could post pictures of them wearing their bags or just simply a picture of their bag if they have it. Also, don't forget to include the name of the bag and the color you chose. Also, the price if you remember how much you paid. TIA! Can't wait to see everyone's fav bags!:yay:
I use the Lowepro fastpack 250. It allows me to bring my camera AND laptop on the plane. I leave the laptop in the room ( no need for the extra weight at the parks ) and carry papers and park maps in the laptop compartment in the parks. It's got a nifty side panel to easily get the camera out when I need it.

I've been carrying small Vera Bradley bags to the parks since 2009, but this year we're thinking about bringing our video camera, I'm going to give this one a try. I love all the little pockets that you can throw all your little essentials in (sunscreen, handbacs, wipes, gloss, etc.) and it looks spacious enough to carry cameras and such..

Yes! Indeed, it is a Mini Messenger, for some reason I googled "Mini Metro," and images that came up looked like my bag. My apologies.
I don't mind not having the ziptop, since I don't have many little essentials that I might lose, plus there is the inside compartment that does zip up should I feel like I need more security. But thanks for your input! :)
I think Coach is just as cheap as Dooney and Bourke, and I wouldn't mind also carrying those around in the rain and whatnot. But like I mentioned, the Coach bag I have is a bit bigger than my Timbuk2, which would probably lead to me trying to fill any empty space I might have with random bits of things I might not need. lol
I really like the VB bags that have been mentioned; I just feel like I need to make use of what I have before I go out shopping to buy another one!

How comfortable are the Baggalini Messenger Sling bags for busty plus sized women? Are they comfortable for men as well? How long is the strap? Is this a good bag for some diapers, snacks, camera, sippy cup?

I really like my Baggalini and have used it on 4 trips now - it's comfortable and holds all we need including 2 Hydroflask bottles and even our DSLR if packed strategically! The ONLY negative I have is when I don't remember to take it off before we have pictures taken because the strap sits right between my chest which doesn't always make for an attractive photo :rolleyes1

I'd guess the Baggallini messenger
I run into the same pros and con. I LOVE that it's smaller yet holds everything I ever need. I've been in the winter and stuffed a fleece in there, budget trips where it held my lunch/snacks/extra water, and my DSLR fit in there when I needed it to.
After 6 trips I'm trying to decide whether to get another one or continue using the one that I have (turquoise)
I tried the VB hipster and it wasn't for me- definitely comfortable but it couldn't hold my "necessities" (single bottle of water, DSLR).

I'm happy, because I just discovered that my new netbook (http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-0651-37U-10-1-Inch-Multitouch-Netbook/dp/B0032ALW5C)will just barely fit into my old REI bag, which looks like this:

I don't plan on taking the netbook into a park, but it makes a nice bag for travelling with a computer, and I won't have to buy a new bag now.

I bought a very small ebags bag for this trip. In the past, I have used a bagallini but found that the metal was WAY too heavy and didn't stay in place so I had to keep adjusting it. This time the bag is just big enough for my camera, cards and cell phone. Since we are going in June, I needed something smaller because I heard it is hot, hot, hot!! Looking forward to downsizing....perhaps next year, I will fit everything in my pockets...no bag check for me!:)

OK, upon more observation, the bag I picked up this morning is WAY different than the pics online. It is missing a wallet, a place to hold chapstick/lipstick, zippered back pouch (mine is open). Must be an older model maybe? Regardless, still a great price, but just a heads up!

Way back when this thread started, I bought the Overland Donner bag as many had recommended. We go to WDW once or twice a year, so my Donner has been well used! However, I am growing a little weary of slinging it across my shoulder and feeling weighed down on one side. So I think I am ready to down size and do the unthinkable...get a fanny pack. I know, they are not exactly fashionable, but I would so love to get rid of the bulge on my hip...and put it infront of my stomach instead LOL! You know, WDW vistors aren't known as a fashionable bunch. We long time serious DISers know we need to dress for comfort to get through the long day of huffing it around the parks. So, I'm getting the fanny pack.Actually, they are called a waist pack now. I found one that looks pretty good at Eddie Bauer!

I think the smallest one(on sale!) will do. Does anyone else use a "waist pack" or got one from Eddie Bauer? thoughts? I will miss carrying a water, but thought perhaps I could fit in one of those small "chubby" bottles.

Great thread!
Does/has anyone used a Camel Pak or a camel pak/backpack combo? We're thinking about going that route this time, we're a very thirsty people. I found some that were combos but we were wondering how much storage space the pak leftover.

Just noticed that myself. Well, it must be an older style. It's still a cute bag though that I think will serve the purpose for which I intended it. :) I may go back and see if there are any others that I like for the same price.

I've been eyeing the Baggallini Around the Town bag for a couple weeks now. It appears to be just the type of bag I'm looking for and I especially like the water resistant nylon. My current bag is cloth and while I can put it in the washer, it gets & stays wet so I'm always trying to cover it up on water rides! I'll do that even with a water resistant bag but it takes forever for that thick canvas to dry!
I've tried TJ Maxx and while they have had baggallini bags, they are not the style I want. I've been looking for good prices online and today, I found what I think is a good price :) Amazon had the bag in Black for $36.05 with free shipping. The Black bag was the cheapest which I found odd because I thought that was one of the most popular colors! Well, I would have bought the cheapest color anyway (as long as it isn't neon or somethhing like that) but I'm happy I got it in Black.
Thanks for everyone's input and recommendations - whether you answered me or others, I was paying attention :thumbsup2

I have narrowed my choice between Overland Equipment's Ellis and Bayless. Has anyone used either of these? If you've used the Bayless, were there any issues with the front magnets messing up credit cards or tickets? Thanks.

I really like the style of the Baggalini bags but they don't seem to have much padding on the shoulder strap. I'm wondering how wearing this all day long will be without any padding.
Anyone have any pics of good bags with lots of padding??

My whole family used the Baggalini Messenger on our Oct. trip last year. Ours were tremendously loaded down- snacks, two to three bottles of water to start the day with, etc.. They were very heavy and as the day wore on became uncomfortable. They weren't quite as bad when we got down to one water bottle. The strap wasn't the problem, I found the padding to be sufficient. It was just the weight pulling on our shoulders and neck that was uncomfortable.

The last two trips my family used the Baggallini Messenger back, which of course is slung to one side also. I was determined to carry as much as possible to avoid spending a lot of money, so we rented a locker for water and lunch stuff, then carried water and snacks with us. By the end of this last trip I was so envious of the women wearing fanny packs. People went on and on on the disboards about how unfashionable they were, but those were the people who looked the most comfortable. They didn't have anything digging into their necks, pulling on their shoulders. I kept fantasizing about how amazing it would be to be totally free of the boulder hanging from my body. This next trip I will save extra money and get all of our snacks and water at the park, and get a fanny pack for my money, camera, and a few essentials. I want to feel free!! I saw TONS of people wearing fanny packs, and most of them seemed like fairly fashionable people to me! ;) If you get one of the Eddie Bauer ones, please let us know how it works for you.

This is what I use for our trips to WDW and other theme parks, zoos, and field trips. I guess it's similar to bagallini....
http://www.kipling-usa.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2993407&cp=2999461.2999759&view=all&parentPage=family&cid=1131365
I think it's actually lighter than bagallini but just as functional IMO.;)
It's made of parachute material which is water resistant, and very, very sturdy. You could also throw in the washer and comes out new.

My Baggallini On the Town bag arrived. My first impression was that it was too small because it was shipped very flat! But let me give you detail on what I think now that I've used it for a couple days:
- The overall construction is nice. It feels a tad 'heavy' but it's still lighter than my last canvas purse.
- The water resistant part is going to be cool!! But it's not so obvious that the material is nylon. It looks really nice and even chic with the silver zips and such.
- The arm strap adjusts so I can wear it on one shoulder or lengthens to go across my body. It has plenty of room to lengthen and I like that. But there is no padding on the strap. I like that because it LOOKS better but we will see how I FEEL after wearing it in the parks. So far, it's felt great and even better than my last purse because it is lighter.
- It has a back zipper pocket. I thought I would prefer an open one (like my last bag) but then silly me realized I didn't HAVE to zip it up  I like to drop my keys in here quickly. But the zip is nice because I can guarantee they won't fall out! The back zipper pocket covers the whole length and heigth of the purse so it will fit a lot more in it!
- It has two side tiny pockets. In the teeny-tiny days of cell phones, it may have fit that but there is no way my iphone will fit in these. I am using the pockets for tiny items I might not access a lot - lotion, bandaids, aspirin, etc.
- The front has a zip pocket that has two pen holders, credit card holders, an inside zip pocket, and a somewhat extendable pocket. I don't carry credit cards outside of my wallet but this is nice to put things into 'slots' like my husbands business cards, frequent shopper cards, gum, and my blotting papers.
- The pen holders in the front pocket and in the main pocket are way too big to hold regular pens. I tried anyway but noticed that I kept knocking into the pens as I tried to get deeper into the purse. So they probably won't serve any function ever for me.
- The large inside pocket has another zip pocket in it, an attached 6 inch length of material with a clip (you could put your keys on it) and another attached 6 inch length of material with a zip "wallet". The zip wallet has a front see through pocket to hold a drivers license and the wallet itself is fairly large. I'm using it to hold my make up (I like to have powder, cover up, chapstick, and lipstick with me).
- The large inside pocket holds my wallet, iphone, travel kleenex, sunglasses + case, digital camera, and has room to spare. I could fit a water bottle in here but it would be tight - it would fit fine if I stood it up and left the top unzipped. This is my only complaint about the purse. I would have preferred it a tad larger to hold the water bottle but I'm going to think about getting those water bottle hooks. Or just carrying it my hand. Or DH can just put it in his cargo shorts' pockets ;)
All in all, I'm glad I purchased it. No matter what, it's definitely my new weekend purse! (My weekday purse is my laptop bag.) And I will definitely take it to the parks! All the zip pockets will help tremendously at organizing my little things.
Thanks for all the help!

Hi all, been reading through this thread after several bad experiences with my VB Hipster and repeated rides on Kali River Rapids...so I think I'm ready for the Baggallini :goodvibes
Anyway, short search today provided a find of 26% off using both the ebates portal (6% cashback) and then Ebags 20% free shipping sale-today only I believe (yes ending 11:00 pm PDT). I know Baggalini's are to be had cheaper than the $31.99 before the ebates rebate but ebags has a rainbow assortment of colors including pink and turquoise both of which are on my radar! :yay:

Yes, Carol, I do. I like my arms free, and like you, nothing on hip, shoulder, etc. Lopsided gets uncomfortable for me. I like to carry a water bottle too, but mostly just get a large free ice water from CS, drink it, and am quenched for awhile. I like not having the weight of it in my bag. I've never really been far enough away from water at WDW that is was a problem.
I have several waist packs, my favorites having small front zipper for KTTW and AP and fastpasses, and the usual top zipper to the larger area for sunglasses, reading glasses, snacks, comb & hairties, wallet, etc. Works really well for me.:cool2:
My daughter prefers the look of an over the shoulder:snooty:, but sometimes breaksdown and wears the waist pack for the ease and comfort and convenience can't be beat.

That is the bag I used when DH and I took our trip last October. I bought it specifically for our WDW trip and will take it with me next time we go. It worked really well for us. It's not too big, but you can fit a surprising amount of things in there if needed. (DH has a habit of slipping his phone and wallet into my bag when we travel.) You can also adjust the strap to the length you want. I tried to keep it on the lighter end but I would definitely recommend it.

stitchlet-I just got this bag last week off of ebags and I've been using it as my everyday bag. I was looking for a smaller, very lightweight purse since I don't carry a lot everyday and wanted it to double as my Disney bag. I haven't used it at Disney yet, I will in August. I really like the bag so far, seems like the perfect park bag for a light packer. The only negatives I've found are that the closure on the main body of the bag is magnetic and it comes unfastened alot when I wear it, I guess from my arm brushing against it?? I wear it crossbody. Also I prefer a top zipping bag and this has the flap and then a top zipper inside on the body of the bag. You can't get to your stuff quickly. It comes with a wallet you can clip to the inside of the bag. I've found myself throwing my credit card on the outisde pocket so I can pay for things quickly and throwing my keys and phone in their too and it makes that part of the bag look weighed down. I like that there are so many zippers on the bag it keeps my things secure. I think it's a great bag overall and you will really like it.

I used to use a Baggallini messenger when ds was younger and we still needed to carry diapers and wipes.
Now I find it too big!
Looked all over for a new bag for me to use every day and our trips this summer and came across the Chock (http://www.rei.com/product/763408/rei-chock-shoulder-bag-womens) shoulder bag at REI.
It is just a little bit bigger than my Kindle so I can carry it when not in the parks.
Has enough room for a camera, phone, water bottle and any other small items... without being a fanny pack (it isn't much bigger than one) and it slings across my body for easy access as opposed to a backpack.
I previously had a small backpack and was dreading using it at WDW because I didn't want to keep taking it off for access.
I went to an REI store and compared the Chock to the Overland Donner bags as well as a few others and the Chock was the smallest w/o being too small.
I like the color too... :lovestruc

I purchased a bag from Eddie Bauer before our last trip for a few reasons. First of all, it is collapsable. It zips up into a tiny pouch so you can easily pack it in your suitcase before or after your trip. It worked so well! It had perfect compartments and it was comfortable and you could easily squeeze it on rides!

I just purchased the Atom from Patagonia. It is a wonderful little sling bag. I have been using my baggallini faithfully for the last few years, but I have found that it really starts to dig into my skin after a several days. Last year I ended my vacation with a really unpleasant burn looking owie on my shoulder! Not fun! So park bag hunting started as soon as we got home! I was looking for something durable, lightweight and able to hold quite a bit without being huge...basically looking for the PERFECT park bag! I think i have found it in the Atom! This is such a great little bag! I tried it out on a recent day trip to Dorney Park. I was very pleased overall! It holds just as much as my baggallini without feeling bulky or heavy at all. It has a strap you can put around your waist if you are doing some serious trekking, or you can just stash it away. I LOVE the bright color b/c it allows my step kids and husband to spot me in a crowd!:rotfl: Over all I was really impressed with how light and ulitmately comfortable it was even after a long day! The best part about this bag was I got it for $39!! Not a bad price for a patagonia bag! It performed beautifully!! Highly recommend!!!:thumbsup2

You actually can carry this bag in front if you want to! It's comfortable either way. I am very much the same way about my bags! I tend to keep my bags to my side right under my arm. I love this bag b/c you can whip it to the front no problem and everything is easy access. My husband carries the money and key cards in his cargo short zip pockets so that stuff is safe. I fell in love with my arms and hands being free and the lack of a bag bumping against my hip all day long and the absence of my shoulders aching from carrying all the weight. I'm telling you...if you try it...you'll be instantly addicted!!! ;)

Does anyone have personal pics of the eBags Piazza Day Bag (http://www.ebags.com/product/ebags/piazza-day-bag/94553)? It looks like it would be awesome and I'm kind of torn between the chili and lavender color but they look kind of ugly online! I'm very into how a bag looks (sometimes moreso than what it'll hold!) so I'd like to know if it's better looking in real life...or worth the not so hot exterior!
Thanks!! :cutie:

When buying a bag keep in mind that FL is famous for it's "appear out of nowhere showers". I've had bags get pretty wet at Disney ... and there is also the water rides. I would hate to get an expensive bag wet. I actually take my Vera bags along but don't carry them to the parks.

Here's a couple of pics of me with the bag. It's a little bit darker than it looks in the pictures.

It's really not bad looking. But yes, it's great enough that it would be worth it even if it was ugly! Carries a lot but isn't too big; lots of pockets & compartments, even an area for sunglasses (soft cloth).

I'm headed to WDW in about three days. I just bought the L.L. Bean Stowaway Daypack in Mandarin Orange from a company store in Skokie, IL. It cost me $38 with tax (oh those Illinois sales taxes).
In the L.L. Bean website's picture, the bag is filled completely, but in person it looks a lot flatter and more compact. I've never been more happy with a bag purchase!! Here are some of the great features:
completely waterproof, ripstop polyester (for those rainy Orlando days)
TWO side compartments for water bottles (or those lovely fan-spritzer things)
Super-lightweight, ventilated straps
It's a backpack, so all the weight of your items is distributed evenly (no shoulder pain)!
Large enough to fit guidebooks etc, with small enough pockets to safely fit phones and wallets.
And the best part: IT FOLDS UP INSIDE OF ITSELF. Squeezes down to about the size of a baseball. Impressive, I know.
Hope this helps! I'll let everyone know how it tests in the parks. :)
I have a family of 3: Me, DH and DS6. I chose this because it will hold enough - but not so much that i will have issues riding the rides.

We carry a Camelbak Octane. Since my husband and I switch out carrying the bag, we wanted something unisex. Also, Camelbaks are designed to be lightweight...this bag weighs almost *nothing* by itself.
Also, it will hold 100oz of water which ensures that we drink A LOT while in the parks (we go in early Sept every year), and we're not hauling around water bottles/cups. It has little zippered pockets on the straps in the front for camera/phone/sunglasses, etc.
Love love love my Camelbak!

Ooh, that looks like a good one!
It's my park bag this year. The front organizer pocket means I don't need a sunglass case or a big wallet. I've used it a bunch of times on other day trips and it holds a lot. The nylon does dry pretty quickly when the rain starts.
Plus I got the Lime Green one on clearance about 18 months ago.

I stumbled across one of the bags I'd been considering at TJ Maxx today, so I guess I made up my mind. :woohoo:
I ended up finding the Heys TravelMate in zebra print for $12.99. I LOVE this bag! It has lots of compartments and a place for a water bottle. The only downside is that my phone won't fit in the cell holder, but I can just use that to keep park tickets or pens for autograph books, so I don't have to search for them.
http://www.shoebuy.com/pi/heysu/heysu334699_171982_jb.jpg
TJ Maxx also had a few colors of the Baggallini, but not the Messenger, which I was looking for. It was something smaller, too small for my needs, but they were $19.99, so not a bad price.

I just bought the Vera Bradley book bag. It's a backpack but slightly larger than their backpack. It has two deep pockets on the side to hold water bottles, a good sized pocket on the front for maps, sunglasses, cell phones, and it has a couple smaller pockets inside. I have this bag and have used it several times at disney parks. I always take three bags, a really small one when I just need my wallet and cell phone, medium size to include my camera and maybe some snacks, then a backpack if needing to transport more than the essentials.
This bag is my medium bag. I love it.

When we went to DL in October 2010, I carried a backpack because at night, it got chilly enough to need a sweater. I carried the kids' stuff for them so they wouldn't lose anything and I also didn't want to fuss with 2 additional bags. Although it was mid 80s to low 90s, CA humidity is drier, so I didn't find a backpack too hot.
This time around at WDW, I was planning to carry either of these two bags, as I already own them:

I bought the AmeriBag Shopper from Ebags. After a 20% sale and free shipping it was about $24. I was worried about the size but it seems perfect for what I want it for. Also, I had read reviews that my iPhone would fit in the cell phone pocket but was still a little skeptical but yay! it does fit. The actual purse is waterproof too which is nice.

I'm a minimalist. I wouldn't be caught dead in cargo pants/shorts around here, but love them for WDW. I love skipping the bag check lines. I usually have my camera in one pocket, cell phone in another, and a tiny divider thingy I use for my room key, cc, AP, ID, and a little cash in another pocket. That's all I'm carrying. If I happen to be wearing a pair of shorts or pants that are not cargo, I may carry a Vera Bradely mini hipster.

It is nice and deep and has a lot of pockets. I think it'll be great.
However, DBF will be carrying a larger backpack that has sweatshirts/jackets, umbrellas, camera, etc.
This is for me that will be carrying money/gift cards and the smaller stuff.

I use the clear zipper pocket for trader pins and the two mesh pouches to carry trader vinylmations. It keeps everything organized and the crossbody strap is nice~ doesn't even feel like I am carrying a bag! I think I paid $20 on Amazon for mine a few years ago. $12.99 is a steal! :goodvibes

I have a Kipling Multiple bag and I love it :)
It's a small shoulder bag but you can alter the strap so it becomes a butt-bag which is useful for rides.

I'm a bit of a Kipling fanatic though, so I'll probably take several!
I like that bag!

I just got back, and used my Piazza bag from ebags again. Fabulous bag, perfect size, only "problem" is that it has *so* many pockets, I occasionally forget where I put stuff! Can be worn cross-body or on the shoulder.

This time around at WDW, I was planning to carry either of these two bags, as I already own them:
http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/106/8/AAAAAmlRrrgAAAAAAQaPoQ.jpg?v=1211774087000
or
http://blu.stb.s-msn.com/i/EF/64FDA3E798CC47B9A384C37BBE1DC1.jpg
But I'm really contemplating a waist pack. :confused3
I also have the smaller (top) MEC bag in green. Wouldn't think of going to the parks without mine. My WDW umbrella does poke out a couple of inches, but that's of little concern to me.:)

This is the bag that I used on my trip two weeks ago and I LOVE it! I never ran out of room, and it never seemed to get heavy, although as the day went on, I noticed that if I wore it as a cross body, it rotated around me as I walked, but that might just be how I walked as I got tired. :rolleyes1 My only advice is to not put your cell phone in an inside pocket! I had mine in what I assumed to be the designated cell pocket, and on our first morning, I looked at my phone after walking for a couple of hours, only to discover that it had unlocked from hitting the other things in my bag, and had started to do all sorts of crazy things, such as adding new (gibberish) contacts, replying to people's Facebook statuses, and it even deleted a contact! From then on, I put my phone in the iPod pocket, since I wasn't bringing my iPod into the parks, and it worked much better, plus it was much more convenient for me to slip it out and check my messages.

:thumbsup2 This is my current favorite park bag! I use the cell phone bag on the strap to carry gum, travel advil and chapstick~ anything you may need to get to quickly. :goodvibes
Just wondering how the strap on the Heys bag lies across the shoulder/neck area...I have a baggalini crossbody bag that I used on our last trip and it rubbed my neck raw. I haven't used it since.

I wore an embarrassing large black 'fanny pack' when I went in 2002. Fortunately I wore it in the front... (And thankfully no digital pics because it was before digital cameras! :rotfl:)
And, since I am new here, I haven't figured out how to post pics of the below bags, so please bear with me! :confused3
Last year I wore a Swiss Gear crossbody. (searching for a pic...usually I am the one taking the pics!) It was really durable and I liked the organization but it was definitely designed for a right handed person to wear it crossbody. It had the wider strap at one end but it was the 'wrong' end for me when I wore it left handed. Drove me nuts the entire week, not to mention wearing a purse crossbody for 10+ hours a day definitely puts a strain on your neck. (I didn't even have much in it because we kept a small backpack under the stroller for ponchos, juice, etc. Anything non-valueable that we didn't mind leaving with the stroller.)
So...that being said, I am shying away from a crossbody for our trip. I definitely won't use the Swiss Gear bag. I do have a Vera Bradley hipster that I LOVE and use as my everyday purse, but I think it might be too big for me to wear all day every day as I won't carry that much in it for the trip (camera, ID, phone).
I ordered a Sherpani Qube which is more of a modern hip (fanny...) pack. It is adorable but the pictures were misleading because it shows that you can wear it crossbody as well...but...only if you are probably 5 feet tall! I just shy of 6 feet and it ends up under my armpit. Not cool for a hot day at Disney! :rolleyes1
Any other suggestions for a modern hip pack (lower profile that I can wear on my hip or in front, not on my fanny...)???

It's not a hip pack, but if you like your Vera Bradley Hipster but think it's a bit large, you should check out the Vera Bradley Lizzy. It's cross-body and smaller, but very functional if your camera isn't a bulky type. Actually, I have shortened the strap on my Vera Bradley Lizzy to make it sit at my waist like a fanny pack, just to keep it closer on rides, and it worked well!

I have spent way too much time looking at this thread haha!!
I love the look of the smaller messenger type bags, but I think we'll end up going with a small hydration backpack. I'll have my DSLR so it'll be nice to have DH to help carry the backpack plus having the option to switch out who carries it! I just found a great green Kelty hydration pack on clearance at Target. :woohoo:

I bought 3 of these bags since someone first posted. I use mine daily and my mom just started using hers as well. I love mine! My oldest daughter got a Vera Hipster and it looks awesome on her.

I just received the ebag piazza bag for Christmas. It seems perfect for the park. I like the seperate phone/headphone section, the expandable section to hold a water bottle.the additional areas for a camera, and areas for maps & planning guides. I will test it out in September! Can't wait.

After all the reviews I am SO excited to get it. I do want to let you guys know though, if you go to the eBay store for eBags it was $10 cheaper and it was still free FedEx shipping! I ordered mine earlier and it says the est arrival date is only Tuesday!
I have a question for you all though: what is the point of packing cubes? I understand that it keeps certain things separate but I usually put my "unmentionables" in the zipper compartments of my suitcase and shoes in the slip areas on the suitcase. Is it really THAT much better :confused3

The last two years I've taken the small Vera Bradley backpack in the discontinued Java Blue pattern:
Vera Bradley (http://www.verabradley.com/product/Backpack/154883/defaultColor/Rosy+Posies/p/154883.uts?fromSearch=1)
DH had to carry it more than he'd like on this past trip because I ride the bigger/faster rides with our oldest DS, so he said we would be getting a new more manly backpack for the next trip lol! He also gave me a nice (but large) camera a year ago and it took up most of the space in the little backpack. When we decided to go this year, I ordered the Eddie Bauer Trekker Backpack in Canyon Clay - DH is much happier with the idea of this one and I'm happier that I won't have to take the camera and everything else out of it to find something at the bottom:
Eddie Bauer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00556H5A2/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details)
It should be noted that my trusty little VB backpack will still be traveling with us to use on our lighter days in the parks :).

I had a sling backpack for our last trip and it totally bugged me. I always had to completely remove it for rides and the bus and felt like I could never get access to it without risking having items fall out. I also felt vulnerable having it on my back.
I can't be more excited about my bag for this trip. It is the Lesportsac Deluxe Everyday Messenger in Aquarelle. I plan on wearing it cross-body, but like that it can be a shoulder bag as well. My mom even went out and got one in a different pattern for our trip too. I love the all of the zip pockets!

I designed this bag at VivPickle (mine is not pictured)...I went with a bright pattern and got an ID pocket inside. They allow you to choose the fabric and add as many pockets as you want. You can even pick the colors of your zippers and strap!

I didn't read through this whole thread, so please excuse me if this has been asked/answered already! I'm considering a Vera Bradley backpack for this year's trip. We have always carried a full sized LL Bean backpack, but since the kids are older I want something smaller. I need to be able to carry DD's medication, our camera (small), ponchos and sunscreen. It looks like all that would fit. Any problems with it not being waterproof? It looks light enough to "breathe" in the heat (the LL bean left us with drenched backs!) I carried the Hipster on a trip with DH, but it is not big enough to fit DD's meds (it's that darn inhaler mask!) Anyone ever carry the VB backpack in the parks? Thanks!

I haven't tried it at Disney, but I have one and it seems like it would be a good size for what you need to carry. It won't be waterproof, but if you are carrying ponchos, it won't be an issue. A little bit of water won't hurt it (you could pack a ziplock for meds & camera just to be on the safe side). I've found VB bags to breathe in the heat.
If you like the cross-body style and the Hipster is too small, take a look on eBay at the Vera Bradley "Cargo Sling". It's not made any more, but I've used that as a park bag several times and it's roomier than the Hipster but still cross-body and just a really handy bag.

I have a smaller VB backpack and I love it. I was thinking about updating it (after several vacations, the wear and tear is starting to show). DH wanted a more "manly" backpack since he got stuck with it a lot on this trip, so we bought an Eddie Bauer backpack with a breathable back, but I'll still be bringing the VB backpack along for the lighter days in the park. We also got a larger camera and last year was a little awkward, always juggling it to get to whatever was in the bottom of the pack. If you have a small camera, it really is a great little bag!
Last year I also had the VB wristlet to keep track of my phone and tickets and fast passes. It was the perfect size, but the strap did get on my nerves and it was so bulky that even though it fit in my cargo pocket, I felt weighted down by it. This year I'm going to try the "mini hipster" as a makeshift wallet (with a strap) that can stay in the backpack until DH and I go our separate ways with the kids and then I'll have the essentials with me.
Good luck in what you choose! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I find a pattern I like (I'm hoping the fall 2012 patterns that come out in August will be more appealing for me - mine is in Java Blue, but I haven't liked a pattern since Buttercup).
I got this yesterday. So far it fits very comfortably and fits all I need to carry.

If you haven't bought it yet, you might want to take a look at the "Lizzy". The Mini-Hipster gets a lot of love here at the Dis, but I really didn't like it. It's hard to get into - just to unzip it, you have to un-velcro the flap first - and it's narrow and deep. I had trouble using it for just the basics (small camera + sunglasses + phone + cards/money). The strap doesn't adjust (you can tie it to change the length). It's the velcro flap that really drove me nuts, though. The Lizzy is awesome and just about the same in concept. Better organization, easier access, and an adjustable strap make it a nicer bag, IMO. Also, you can shorten the strap a lot to make it like a fanny pack.

Jansport Equinox 33 - This bag has been everywhere with us, WDW and many other places. I'm the designated sherpa so having all of the straps really helps. At one point last week I had one jacket underneath and one on each side :lmao:

Thanks for the suggestion! I wanted it in a color that is sold out online (and I think discontinued now) so DH found one for sale on Ebay for $9. If I don't like it when it comes in, it won't be a big loss and I'll be sure to go to search for the Lizzy!
Would the mini-hipster be a good size for just an iPhone and some money and cards? Our camera is a big one with a detachable lens, so it stays with the backpack and I use my sunglasses as a headband when they're not needed. It's mainly my phone, the KTTW (all of them), my Visa and a little bit of cash I would need it for.

oh disboards what you do to me! I just ordered the vera bradley backpack on sale! Will use it to and from airport, and maybe some days in the park. I have a hipster, but didn't use it in the parks last year. Only at home!? Didn't want that strap across my body and it overall was too big on my "hip" I'm short and small and it is not comfortable on me. So what do I take on days when I just want my iphone room keys and some money? Maybe even a small tube of sunblock to reapply. Any ideas? Yes, you can bring your bag on the rides with you. I don't know if there's a maximum size limit, but I've seen people bring pretty sizable backpacks and shopping bags on some rides. I use a decent sized messenger bag and have never had a problem.

Not going to WDW until October, but couldn't resist a good bag thread. Unfortunately that led to me ordering the Piazza Day Bag and the Terrace mini bag in eggplant from Walmart.com. Have both a two week trip to wdw:cool1: in oct and a cruise to key west and the bahamas in January so they will both get good use!!

Well, I got a good deal (not great) on the backpack. The on-line deal they were running was a little better, but then I guess I saved on shipping. It was going for $52, but they had very little selection of colors. I had a birthday coupon for $20, so it ended up costing me $32, so I was happy. Got it in Symphony in Hue. Very pretty! Looks like it will be light and hold everything I need to carry! Thanks for the info!!:)

Ordered this from Amazon for my recent trip and loved it! The Baggallini Zip N Go - it's about 9" x 7" x 3", a nice choice if you don't need something as big as a backpack or messenger bag, but want to be able to carry some extras (like gloves for those freezing cold mornings!). It works as a shoulder bag, cross-body bag, or waist bag, and it really is liquid-repellent (I dripped OJ on it at AK and it beaded up and wiped right off). The credit card slots in the front of the shorter section (2nd zipper down) were great for stowing my KTTW, FPs and Photopass. The 2 front zip sections are flat, the upper two are deep/thick (good for camera, wallet, phone, etc) and there is a flat pocket on the back ideal for park maps/schedules. This is the "Mushroom" color with blue interior.

We are planning our first family trip for September. We have a 4 and a 2 year old. We also have a DLSR camera which we will be taking. Which bag would be better to purchase, the baggallini messenger sling or Lowepro passport sling? :confused3

The baggallini is thin/lightweight and has zero padding, so unless you have an insert for you DSLR I'd definitely choose the Lowepro out of those two. :thumbsup2

My concern with the Baggalini messenger sling is how is rests on your back. Do you have to remove it when you sit down, or you can you side it to the front without removing it? Can you access it while still wearing it while in a checkout line?

I took it off if we sat down to eat at a restaurant, or went on a ride, etc. But if we sat to rest for a little bit on a bench in the parks, it easily slid out of the way and to the side.
And yes, I actually accessed it many times without taking it off. Again, I just slid it around to my side/towards the front. This was one of the main reasons I wound up loving this bag so much! :thumbsup2

On several rides, I didn't even take it off. I just kind of shifted it around to my front or side, depending on the ride.

I am considering this as my park bag. I have a couple of questions though. I am very petite so I am looking for a bag that doesnt overwhelm me but has a decent amount of space. My questions are
1. I am 4ft 10.5inches tall about 100lbs ! ;) Is this bag gonna hang really low on me or can be adjusted fairly small?
2. Do you think this bag is gonna feel overwhelming on me?
3. Dose is rub and chaff on your neck?
4. Can it hold alot of stuff ? Like autograph book ponchos water bottles? spare change of clothes? would love to see a picture of what all you bag can hold
5. If you had to choose again would you still chose this bag or wish you would have picked soemthing else?

The bag is VERY adjustable; the strap goes from a minimum of about 28" to a max of about 54". I'm 5'2" and had no trouble finding a position that was comfortable for me. I did not want a bag that was too bulky or "in the way," and I never found this one overwhelming.
I never had a problem with rubbing or chafing, or keeping the strap where I wanted it.
Now, as for holding stuff - the biggest section is about 6 x 9 x maybe 2 (it's soft, so can be stuffed thicker). Depending on the specific size you're talking about, I would think you could fit an autograph book and/or a fold-up travel poncho(?). But I don't think a water bottle would work, unless that's just about the only thing in there, and no way could you fit a change of clothes (or even a jacket/sweater).
That said, I was very pleased with the bag and would choose it again - but then, I don't tote a lot of stuff into the parks.

I'm joining the "I need a bag for our trip" group as well. In the past I have used some travel backpack-y thing from my Mom paired with a fanny pack for the "quick access" items (tickets, etc...) I'm hoping that I won't need as much this year. I found the Sherpani Milli at TJMaxx the other day for $17 and thought it might be a good solution. Has anyone used this one? I am liking the roominess of it and the various pockets it offers - not too many, but just enough. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks! (Who knew finding the perfect bag would involve so much!)

"Ugly Fanny Pack"? I don't get it, it's readily accessible, separate pockets, mostly waterproof and weighs next to nothing. At some point function has to outweigh fashion right? I'll proudly wear mine each trip and challenge anyone to a race to get to the sun block, shades, fastpass, TTTW card, etc. All this without carelessly smacking people with thier backpacks while on que or making the rest of us wait while you remove all that gear to sit, walk down a packed aisle, board a ride, clear security, etc, etc.
Dont mean to rant, but dont understand why one would want to pack around all that stuff when it creates problems for other.

My two go to bags are Vera Bradley Hipster and Vera Bradley Tote. I usually carry the Hipster unless I need to bring my jacket or umbrella then I'll carry the other. Both bags offer lots of functionality and they're both cute, you can have the best of both worlds.
I wouldn't be caught dead in a fanny pack.

So after reading through hundreds of pages and tips and all that and looking at numerous websites and what not I finally had decided I wanted a Bagallini Zip and Go. ONLY one day after walking over to target for a starbucks fix on my lunch break i was looking around and found this bag!

It is very similar to the style of the one i wanted only a little big a few more pockets and a nice squishy pad on the shoulder strap! It is made my Swiss Gear and is designed to be an Outdoor/travel bag so it should be built pretty tough. Husband actually really liked it to! And it was a steal at only $21.00

I have taken a Vera Bradley small backpack the last 2 trips and just ordered one for our upcoming trip! It is stylish and functional! Here is an idea of what I have been able to fit in one and comfortably carry it around:
To go Wipes
extra change of clothes for DD
sunscreen
bandaids
snack packs
stickers
chapstick
cell phone
park maps
medicines
water bottles
And probably more than that!! I have found it to have much more space than what it looks like!

I'm with you, I'm married to my waist pack and I love it. I've used it in Europe and at Disney, and it has been extremely convenient. I wear it in front, and everything is easy to access. I have shoulder problems, so using something with a shoulder strap or a backpack is too uncomfortable.

I LOVE IT! I have a fanny pack too and wear it proudly! My 15 yr old and 12 yr old daughters are embarrassed for me, but as someone else said, sometimes comfort is more important than fashion, and spending 12+ hours in the parks each day constitutes that time!:dancer: They also get embarrassed anytime I dance in public, so I'm used to it!!!

I'm with you guys! After carrying a Baggallini Messenger Bag for three trips I have come to the conclusion that I want to feel as free as possible on our next trip. I'm sick of the sore back and neck and I don't care one bit what people think of what I wear in the park to hold the things I need. I don't want something pulling on my neck, and stretching out my shirt, hitting people when I step to close to them. I don't want to have to swing something to my side or front to access it- I just want it there. And I don't want it so big that I carry too much stuff. I will pack a separate bag to keep in a locker with all the extra stuff and keep my essential items in my FP. I saw so many fanny packs on people in the parks- and many of them were hip, younger women and they didn't seem to concerned that they were wearing an "ugly fanny Pack". Seriously, who makes up the rules for these things anyway? :confused3

I've decided to go the fanny pack route myself this year - just want the freedom and easy access. Actually forgot my backpack on recent theme park trip and bought a fanny pack at WM just for the day - loved it. Though I hope to find one a bit cuter for Disney (any suggestions) since this was is just plain black.

Okay I think I may have found the perfect bag for those of us who have toddlers. I honestly wasn't too wild for the style of the Baggallini Messenger (I know...gasp! :scared1:) and was trying to find something non-Baggallini but then I went to Marshalls today and there it was: the Baggallini Hobo http://www.ebags.com/product/baggallini/hobo-tote/219225?lastterm=baggalini%20hobo
So it looks a lot better in real life than in this pic but it has plenty of room for a water bottle and sippy cup because it has too very large side pockets. In addition to that, it has another deep exterior pocket in the middle perfect for antibacterial wipes. It can be adjusted to fit cross-body which is what I wanted so that I can be hands-free and lays fairly flat against the body. It is of course water resistant and has an interior zipper pocket inside along with some slip pockets. It is plenty wide to carry sunscreen, a few diapers, snack, you know all the fun stuff that I get to carry as mom the packmule. I scored mine for $30 today at Marshalls which is an awesome price. I liked it so much for everyday use too so I bought it in black and leaf green. Hope this helps someone else out!

I bought the baggallini Sydney bag for a weekend trip to Pittsburgh, because I liked the pockets and the dimensions seemed right. I thought it would make a good cross-body bag for Disney, but I was disappointed in it, mainly because of the depth. The two small front pockets were good for my camera, and had I been in Disney, my ticket & room key, but the front zipper pocket again has little depth, so it's not very useful. Maybe the Big Sydney would be better, but that almost looks too big. If you're only looking to carry a few items it would work. It could probably hold the things I'd bring into the park, but wouldn't have any room for water bottles, or small souvenirs I picked up while touring.
It makes a good bag to take to hockey games though! It looks like I should have gone with the Hobo bag you posted Zuzu, or the Baggalini Everywhere bag. That looks like the Sydney, but with more depth.

I carry a very small over the shoulder purse. If it doesn't fit then I don't need to bring it with me. In it I carry my phone, camera, cigarettes and lighter, park maps, a small change purse (which serves as my entire wallet - money, credit card, DL, room key), a pen and a very small notebook, glasses case to switch from regular glasses to sunglasses, and a baggie of Exedrine and Advil. I can also fit DH's sunglasses if he needs. It all fits tight but it fits. I can "tetris" this tiny purse like a master! I also have a carabiner clipped to the strap to clip DH's hat for fast rides.

It looks like the Travelon is a couple of inches longer/taller, and I see that the back pocket on it zips closed.
The Zip & Go does have a flat pocket on the exterior back; it is about 7" deep and closes with just a magnet. I liked it for park schedules/guides. It has a fairly thin, flat strap that clips at both ends to the sides of the bag.
I paid $30.10 on Amazon, plus shipping and tax. Some of the colors were a little more or a little less, but this was the color I wanted. I know they also had them on ebags with occasional discounts/sales.

We are back from our trip and I really liked my bag. I am 5'10" and am fairly long-waisted and did not have any issues with the strap length. Sometimes it did rub me the wrong way on my neck, but I liked the accessibility of this style a lot more then the cross-body backpack bag I brought on a previous trip. I wore this one as a shoulder bag too when I didn't feel like having it cross-body. It definitely helped to test out the fit before we left!
I just realized you can see the bag in my avatar pic :)

In the past I have worn a fanny pack and did quite well with it, but on a thrift store shopping trip I came across a very nice Vera mini hipster that I intend to use on my next Disney trip, I don't feel the need to post a pic as I first off don't know how and second have seen several already posted just the same size, just different pattern. I do not have small kids and only carry information and gift cards or money for the day, some chap stick, gum, personal meds, and throw away rain poncho, wear my sunglasses, camera and KTTW around my neck. I also keep a very few other items in my bag. What is important to me is light weight and hands free for the rides and taking pictures.

Don't know what size bag you're looking for but the REI Boarding Bag works for me:

Thanks for the suggestion. I did find one on QVC that has a thermal bottle holder and room for other stuff. I think it's called the carry on caddy. Not sure if it's big enough. I can not go without my water!

I have been on the search for the perfect park bag ever since our first trip in 2006. I've used everything from a backpack, to a Vera Hipster, and a sling bag. Nothing seems to be exactly what I want. I even bought 2 Baggallinis within the last month, and had to take both back because they were not big enough. I started to order the Baggallini Messenger, but I knew it would be too big.
I finally found something that I think is going to work. Just happened to stumble upon it on the Walmart website. I ordered one and received it, and my boyfriend liked it so much he got it. I was going to order another, and decided to order one for my son and one myself, since they were so cheap. It's very roomy, with all sorts of pockets and I love the outside water bottle pocket. It's called the Goodhope Bags Smart Sling Briefcase, and it's just the right size - not too small or big. I might even use it for my carry-on for the flight. My boyfriend and I got the black, and my son got the blue.

I like this one! Plus it's not super expensive. I'm just looking for something small but it Must have a place to put a bottle of water.

I should have included that inside the larger compartment is a padded divider for iPads or even a small netbook. I also wanted a water bottle pocket which was outside of the original bag. Our trip isn't until October, but I plan on "testing" it out beforehand. My son loves his, and has been using it since it arrived. I think it's going to do the trick! :)

I have been carrying a small $7 backpack from Walmart on my Disneyland visits, but I need a new bag for my WDW trip at the end of Sept. I have keeping my bags larger because my SLR camera, but I have decided the camera is staying home when I go to WDW.
I need a reccomendation for a crossbody bag (as the thought of carrying something against my back in the heat just makes me hot!) that can carry the following:
- autograph book + pen
- sunscreen (only about 4" tall)
- camera (small point and shoot)
- band aids/moleskin/medicines/feminine products
- granola bar or similar sized snack
- poncho (already bought it and they're just bigger than a credit card)
- chapstick
- small ziploc bags
- iphone
- cards (hotel, id, etc)
- vapur water bottle clipped to outside
- diabetic supplies in a 3x5 case
I have been looking at the Baggallini Zip 'n Go. Would those who have it think that my items would fit in it? I already own the Piazza Day Bag and used it at Disneyland last week, but it was horrible for me. The strap rubbed on me, it was too big, and just bulky.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can anyone suggest a kids cross body bag with a water bottle holder? I bought DD7 a very simple, small girls bag for her first trip late last November from Oshkosh B'Gosh. However, seeing as it wasn't a very hot time of year, it doesn't have a spot for her water bottle. I am taking her again in June (30 days! :cool1:) and would really like to get her a small bag that can also hold her water bottle - just one of the disposable kind. She obviously doesn't carry much in her bag, just her autograph book/sharpie, sunglasses and a snack.
Thanks much! :)

Zip'n'Go owner here. I have a few questions: What's the size of the autograph book? Also, how thick is your case for the diabetic supplies? And is your sunscreen a tube, or a bottle (how wide)? Those are the items I would wonder about. The rest of your items sound like they would be fine, and the metal loops where the handle attaches should be fine for clipping things on the outside.

I have the dark blue autograph book, which the website says is 4.5x6. The diabetic case is no more than 2in fully loaded up. The sunscreen is a tube, the ones that can stand up and flip open. It's about an inch wide.
I see the bag has an opening against the back. Would the autograph book fit in there? I'd love to not have to go through zippers to pull it out when I need it.
Thanks so much for checking these for me! I really appreciate it! :worship:

I was already thinking that the back pocket would be a good place for the autograph book, and your dimensions look good for that. Your sunscreen tube sounds like what I've got, so that shouldn't be a problem. Diabetic kit should be fine in the bigger zippered section. You may end up packed pretty tight, but the bag is soft and can be stuffed pretty full. I'd love to hear a second opinion, but I think you could manage it.

I think I am going to chance getting it. I can always return it if it doesn't work out and nothing I am finding near me is even close to working. Again, thank you SO much for your help!

Today at WalMart I saw this mini backpack for $12. It is black nylon with a picture on the pocket. I thought it was just the right size, very lightweight but sturdy, and cute. They had several different characters. I'm seriously considering getting one for the parks and I'm super picky when it comes to bags.

So I just got my piazza day bag in the mail yesterday and I decided to give it a test run today. Here's my feedback:
- The bag is smaller than what I expected. It seemed bigger on the website.
- I agree with whoever said it before, the bag's color is much more vibrant and bold than what they showed online, in a good way! (I got the eggplant color)
-The strap is made out of a more rough version of seatbelt material, so I think it'll need some wearing down in order not to rub my neck.
- Tons of pockets! A lot of space for a little bag.
- Super cute and very fashionable.
- The nylon material is slick and water proof.
Overall I really like it and can't wait to use it at WDW this October! :woohoo:

We just got a Picnic Time Zuma Cooler Backpack that we will be test driving at the parks tomorrow. It has a cooler area at the bottom and storage area at the top. We are traveling with a toddler and thought this would be great to store her snacks, juice and water as well as keep it on ice during the Florida Heat. We got it from Amazon at a pretty good deal and it holds everything we need.

So after reading through hundreds of pages and tips and all that and looking at numerous websites and what not I finally had decided I wanted a Bagallini Zip and Go. ONLY one day after walking over to target for a starbucks fix on my lunch break i was looking around and found this bag!
Swiss Gear Vertical Travel Bag ( i dont know how to post a picture on here but here is the link)
http://www.target.com/p/SwissGear-Vertical-Travel-Bag-Black-Grey/-/A-11149392#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink
It is very similar to the style of the one i wanted only a little big a few more pockets and a nice squishy pad on the shoulder strap! It is made my Swiss Gear and is designed to be an Outdoor/travel bag so it should be built pretty tough. Husband actually really liked it to! And it was a steal at only $21.00
This is the bag I use. I bought it in 2009 specifically for touring Disney and it was absolutely perfect. My only criticism is that it doesn't have split zippers to open down the middle but size-wise it is perfect and super comfortable. I love all the little pockets and sections. This is my go-to bag when I travel.

I purchased this bag as well and am wondering if I got a defective one... there is no way a water bottle will fit in that water bottle pocket, in fact my cell phone barely fits in it! Other than that, the bag seems very nice but I don't dare use it if I think I may have to return it.

Got this a few months ago, it's lightweight and all my stuff fits in it. Plus it helps that it has a phone pocket on the outside when I need to pull it out

I saw the posts on this bag and found it thru amazon for just $24 with free shipping. I ordered the sandstone - the color is much darker, I like the color on the actual bag much more than what was on the website. So many pockets... I think it is going to work out great. :thumbsup2
The PP who thought her bag might be defective...I just double checked the side zipper water bottle pocket - and a regular size water bottle fits just fine.
We will be taking the kids to 6 flags a couple of times before we leave for Disney so I will try it out there.

Turns out it was me that was defective. I put some stuff inside the bag, which enabled the water pocket to open wider and then my water bottle did fit.

Ooh that looks pretty perfect! I like it because my husband would feel comfortable holding it for me since it looks like a camera or computer bag. I used to carry Vera Bradley until I figured that one out. :goodvibes

After all the reviews I am SO excited to get it. I do want to let you guys know though, if you go to the eBay store for eBags it was $10 cheaper and it was still free FedEx shipping! I ordered mine earlier and it says the est arrival date is only Tuesday!
Thanks for the tip! I just ordered one from ebay and it was only $24.99 with free shipping!
I just ordered my Baggallini messenger and I'm so excited to get it for our trip. Thanks for all the advice!

I've enjoyed looking through this thread and looking at everyone's park bags. I have my eyes on this one, it's Fossil:
It also comes in pink, blue and orange, but I like the green! 10-3/4" W x 8" H x 2" D
http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i465/diznee25/fossiltopzip.jpg
My DH also carries a back pack, so I only need a small bag.
