There is construction and scaffolding in several areas. We booked a standard room and it had a complete construction view. We asked for something without construction if possible and in Disney style were given a boardwalk view for same price. We were very nice about it and they also sent us a fruit and chocolate gift from the front desk.
We are having great time, resort is clean and crowds not bad.
We can smell paint fumes when walking in construction areas and hear hammering and drilling but only near those areas.
We cannot hear it in our rooms but I think you might if your room was close but only during the day
Any questions?

I don't know anything about the construction. What is it for and how long will it last?

Have a great time! So glad you were taken care of.

How great that you were upgraded to a boardwalk view! Where is the construction being done at (I'm trying to picture where the standard view rooms are and I think they are usually facing the parking lot)? It's always wonderful to hear of great service at BWV (or any other resort) and that they had no problems upgrading you.

No questions, but I just wanted to say how happy I am that your view was upgraded! How awesome! I'm glad they are doing some refurb at BW. We just love that whole Epcot resort area and especially love freshly refurbed rooms!

Thanks for the report! We will be there in Dec and are hopeful we will get a new room then!

Have you asked them at all about timeline, what they are doing, if they are getting new TV's, that sort of thing? Will the decor in the rooms be different (new signature bedding/linens, for instance, as the Poly and Contemporary got when they updated?). Collect all the info you can for our avid readership! :)

The construction is currently by the garden but not the quiet pool and is also around boardwalk courtyard-the entire side facing the grassy area right on the boardwalk.
They are painting and roofing the outside. I was told the rooms are getting completely redone with flat panel TVs, new bedding, paint, daybeds that flip out and new furniture.
I am not sure of timeline.

HOORAY! I am excited to see what they do.

I really loved what they did at Poly and Contemporary. In fact, I was never interested in staying at the Contemporary, mostly because the rooms were so garish, in my opinion. Now they look so modern and elegant--fits the theme of the resort, but has a marvelous touch of class I felt was lacking before. Same for Poly. It was kind of a cheesy throwback, and now it has an elegance while still maintaining some of the "50's Hawaiian kitsch" one might hope for with a Polynesian theme.

I hope they do the same for the Boardwalk. I love that location more than anything, but the decor is SO not my style at all. I would love to see some of the "sugar sweet pastels" of the current decor livened up a little, and the bedding and amenities a little more befitting of a deluxe level Disney resort. This is such good news!

Did they give any time frame for completing the renovations and do you know which section they are working on now?

We will be there in 3 weeks - we also booked a standard room.

Aw when did you check in? Maybe I saw you! Glad you're enjoying your stay :) I'm a bit surprised you got a boardwalk view- you must have been very nice :) A lot of people have asked for them in the past week and every single time I've had to say no because they get booked up 8 months in advance.

Hi, we'll be staying in a deuxe room facing the boardwalk. do you think noise from the boardwalk will prevent possible naps during the day or a 9 or 10pm bedtime for children? thanks for any help

Hello, We are arriving on 6/26 and will be staying at the Boardwalk. We have reserved two standard view rooms. I was not aware of the construction going on when we booked the rooms. I am now a little nervous that we are going to have scaffolding and noise outside the room the entire time. Are all of the standard view rooms around the construction area? Do you think it would be better to switch to a different resort?

This is going to be our first trip, we are taking my cousin down for his 11th birthday and just want to make sure everything is great. Thanks!

We will be arriving at the BWI on July 3rd and have booked a standard view - do you think we should switch resorts - any opinions????

Disney is really good at keeping their guests happy, and keep mess and inconvenience to a minimum. I would keep your resort and see how it is. If you are unhappy, ask them to change you to another room, or if more extreme, to another resort. They will always do what they can to accomodate you.

Does anyone know if the construction is on both the Inn side and the Villa side of the Boardwalk? Also, is remodeling limited to the outside only? TIA

I will be at the BWI for 4 nights before switching to the Poly next month. We are splitting the stay due to a desire to be close to both EPCOT/DHS and MK. As I see it, worse that can happen is we get moved to another upper Deluxe - all of which are fine with me. Only issue I would have is if they move us to a lower Deluxe like WL or AKL.

Does anyone know what the status on construction is now? Going Aug. 1, are there any floors of rooms already finished? Is the outside getting close to completion at this point?

Thanks.
