Just my cat. That's it.

Although when I lived in LA for a while I REALLY started to miss Baked beans and proper cheddar cheese on toast after a couple of months!

That was the first thing I had when i got home! Lol.

But the lucky charms, mountain dew, taco bell and SUNSHINE! More than makes up for that!!

Nada!

Not even tea, as we've always taken a bag full of tea bags wth us! America is amazing but they can't make tea! lol

I've looked into moving there too, but short of meeting an American to marry or winning the lottery, I've got no chance. :( lol

I would say my cat and my usual desktop computer. I take a laptop away with me but it just doesn't run the same!

I also obviously miss family and friends who I'm used to being around practically 24/7 in some cases.

Aww I miss our cat too when we go on holiday:love: ... as well as decent chocolate,a proper Sunday Lunch (with yorkshires and roasties of course), sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, Wensleydale cheese, a decent cup of tea, my favourite laundry detergent, decent fish and chips (not greasy), our own clean sheets and pillow cases.

By the time the end of the holiday comes I am usually sick of the food in the USA and ready for my own home cooking - spag bol in particular.

Being a bit of a news hound I do miss getting a fully picture of whats happening outside of the local areas. Rolling footage of the latest storm or car chase at 7th and Madison wears thin pretty quickly.

After a few days manage to switch off and not let it get to me. First stop on landing in the UK is always the Smiths counter for the papers though...

From my first two visits I would have said vegetables, but there seems to be a lot more available now.

Quite honestly, I wish I could afford to stay out there long enough to miss anything.

Hiya,

I mostly miss "proper" chocolate - but manage on Reeses Pieces as a compromise...

also tea, cooked vegetables that don't come on a cob or salad tray, and decent international news.

However I don't miss UK prices, impoliteness in shops or the weather.

I miss malt vinegar, proper chocolate (don't buy Cadburys in USA - it says on the back in small writing made for Cadbury by Hershey  ), DH misses HP and we both miss our kitty Percy. One thing I miss more than anything is Robinson's squash. I don't really like fizzy drinks and there's only so much lemonade you can drink before you have sugar overload.

Never miss a thing when we go out there. Miss plenty when I get home, having my bed made every morning, large parking spaces, cheap petrol, eating out every meal.
If I never came back to UK I wouldn't miss a thing.

For the choc we all love http://www.ghirardelli.com/ more than UK choc anyway. Call in DTD store lots of times every trip for a free caramel square. :goodvibes

Me too Wayne! Also love the raspberry squares.

I miss lots about the UK (wouldn't live anywhere else) and am always glad to get home despite managing 3 trips a year :)

Lots of cat owners on this thread, including me. The 'real' Pootle is 15 years old as is her sister Posie and now they are old 'uns, I don't like being away from them for too long :worried:

Some interesting replies ! and so many !

The funny thing for me is I love being there, but I hear all you say about Gordon Brown, british taxes, the weather, but I still love England, despite its many faults, and as Dorothy once said, 'Theres no place like home'.

Hmm let me think.
I mostly miss cheese, American cheese is just too rubbery. It's ok for a few weeks but by then I want some proper cheddar.

If my parents aren't with us then I miss them lots too, but usually they come with us so that's no problem!

Got back today - missing the sunshine already!

I take tea bags with us but still miss our water - Orlando water is horrid. Bought Robinson's squash in Goodings at Crossroads this trip and it made the water drinkable (I don't like fizzy drinks and can only drink so much coffee or I spend the entire trip with headaches). We had spaghetti on toast for lunch and curry for dinner as you cant get either of those out there but I wouldnt say I miss them terribly.

Agree.
Although I don't give this sort of thing a second thought when I'm on holiday (anywhere), if I were to emigrate I would miss a good Indian or Thai curry, mature cheddar and english style biscuits (after a year or two).

I used to live in Canada for a year and they didn't sell Fanta over there!

I used to have to get my mum to send me over a 2 litre bottle every couple of months. The postage was astronomical!

Apart from family and friends, the only other things I missed were football and chocolate. US & Canadian chocolate just isn't the same as dairy milk or cadburys.

That was after a year of living out there though, I don't think I'll be missing anything when I'm with Mickey for 2 weeks in September :)
