I completed Katzenstein's Lab today and it took about five hours.... They say the next one is even harder?
If you are talking about the nightmare known as Kensington, then the answer is "YES!"
However, you don't need to do Kensington. Ever. It is not part of the main storyline, unlike the Lab (which you need to do in order to progress).
The next instances in the storyline are the 3 towers: Counterweight East, Counterweight West, and Big Ben. Think of them as super-duper, deluxe versions of Golem Tower in Wizard City. Although you don't have to worry about dodging gearheads there, I recommend you take at least one other wizard with you. You don't want to get to the top floors (which are the most difficult) and be defeated.

Greetings Wizards!
This space is being provided to assist you along the way as you navigate your wizard training! Have fun and try not not yourself, or each other!pixiedust: ;)
TIP: Don't get carried away! I have too many quests in my book right now. I went exploring and took on a bunch. It can get overwhelming. So many minions, rotting fodders etc... to defeat, so little time! Take it slow & easy! LOL!

Okay now I have a question! lol For those of you who have made other characters (clones), have they taken out the book quest now? I made a character for my son this past week, and finally noticed today that I have not run across whoever it was that gave that quest. It finally dawned on me when I had to take out the big boss in Triton Ave. today. So I went all over the place and found nobody to give me that quest.
It has definitely been a while since I made my character apparently. :rotfl:

The lady in unicorn (dawn somebody) sends you the extra dude in the library (standing to the side).
That is the start of that.
Check back in Uni for something you missed or directly in the Library.
You will have to fight the big lady boss in Uni again for the first book.
Heh, was that helpful at all?

Maybe I can help you in return for your much appreciated answer to my question lol.
The book quest did change. You can't start it now until you're a level 10 wizard. I don't think it even prompts you to start the quest now (not sure about that, but I don't remember it prompting me). If your wizard is at level 10, just go to the library and talk to Boris (I think that's his name) and he will give you the quest.
You will have to refight any of the bosses that you already have fought (except Alicane Swiftarrow, you can sneak around him lol) in order to get the books.
Hope that helps, and Happy Wizarding!

I was wondering the same thing. I have two wizards leveling up at the same time and doing all the same quests. They are both level 7 now. The balance wizard has the quest but the storm wizard does not. Of course, I can't remember where I picked up the quest for the wizard who has it. Someone tells you to go talk to Boris in the library and he gives you the quest.

Strangely enough nobody told me to talk to him. lol But, I did go back in this morning and now he was ready for all of the book and report quests. So I probably leveled up late yesterday after I had checked him and what's her name in Unicorn Way. Thanks for the info about the level 10, too. ;)

Does anyone have pictures of the crown gear for girls in Marleybone? (I've seen a list of gear for all worlds, but I'm actually more interested in how some clothing items look than which spell cards you get with them.)
I'm particularly interested in seeing the Master's Judgment hat, the Master's Shoes of Regeneration, and the Master's Boots of the Satyr, but I wouldn't mind seeing any others as well. It would also help to know their approximate cost in gold, based on dying them all white, which is usually cheapest.
Thanks!

Thanks! It helps to see the general style of these. I know for the Wizard City and Krok crown gear, there's usually a couple of basic styles per hat, robe or shoes, with just variations in the design depending on whether it's titled "Astral" "Royal" or "Master's". Kind of surprised though; the gear in your pictures is still based on Wizard City garments. (Yeah, I know they often reuse the styles. Guess I was hoping there would be something new.)

Maybe someone can help me here. I have written to KI and have posted this question on the other fansites but still cannot solve my issue.
I am currently working on quests in Mooshu. I do not have the book quest and cannot find it. I have looked in the areas where others have said it can be obtained but it is not being offered to me. The weird thing is that my test wizard has it in her book and she is only in Marleybone. I did visit Mooshu while still working in Marleybone before test and may have picked up the quest then. If the test server is a copy of the live server, then why don't I have it on the live server?
KI's response was that there may be different quests on test that are not offered on live but this is one that is offered on live. I just finished the Shirataki Temple so at this point will have to back track to get the books I missed if I can only find the quest. :confused3

I believe the goat is next to one of the bells in the Jade Palace area. Tan Keng, the goat to the left of the palace has that quest, I think. If it's not him, then it is the other goat to the right of the palace. Sorry, I'm sure others have told you the same location. :(

I had 10 open quests in my book last night. Went through and knocked it down to 4. Good thing about the game is most quests have 1 task at a time. After that is done you have to ask for the next task. In conjunction with this tip I would suggest finishing an area before moving on to the next.
Stuck at that same point.
I also am having problems finding ANY of the books of knowledge in the quest given to you by the librarian.
I have found a few of the books in the Boss's Towers and can only get access to them after defeating them. However I cant get the History of Death Magic in the Haunted Cave. I am sure it is in the tower at the end of the lane but I cant get in... I am now 11th level and a Fire wizard, Why cant I get in the tower or is the book somewhere else?

I signed my wizard on under the test server and went to the book quest for information. In the top left corner there is a question mark that will tell you who gave you the quest and what they have said so far. It was Jing-Han He who gave the book quest in Mooshu but when I sign onto the live server, he won't even talk to me. At some point I had it because it copied to test but then I lost in on live.

There is a quest you have to find that will open the Stormdrain Tower in the haunted cave to you. I'm sorry, I don't recall who gives you that quest, but I would suggest you go back to the NPC's and see if any of them have a quest for you. Good luck!

I have eight wizards. They all have been through Mooshu and been given the key. I have entered the test realm. I have gone to see Merle. (Who tell me there are dark times ahead and he has to study on them). I go to the Bartelby door. But when I select "Go To World" Dragonspyre is not one of the options.
Like many I am about a level 42 in the real game. Fully clear quest chart.
Pretty nifty clothes. When I enter test I am about Level 22, my old clothes, and quests left to do.
Is THAT why I can't get in? How did others get in? Were you "spiral keyed" a couple of months ago?
Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?
I only say this because at first I didn't get it but on the page at the door where you pick the world to go to you have to hit page 2.
I ONLY say this because I didn't see it - then it was "Aha!
If that does not work, I would contact support with your new bug button on the left in the test server.
OOps sorry - I notice your level is probably too low - can you get into mooshu? do you have mooshu quests left in your book?

And as I understand it you have to be all the way through Moo Shu on the TEST REALM. (ouch!)
Have to see which of my eight characters is furthest along (according to the test realm).
Thanks to all of the advice and update.

The player data from the live server was physically copied over to the test server a few days before the test server was open to subscribers. If your character was not done in Mooshu at that point you will have to finish it in test. You might try your character that finished Mooshu first and see if it works. If it works Ambrose will have an exclamation point over his head and the quest will tell you to see Cyrus Drake.
Good luck. However a little birdy has told me that everything should be on live soon.

The final assault on Malistaire's lair took us over 3 hours to complete! It was quite a challenge -- not just because of the combat, but because of the numerous bugs we ran into along the way. Hopefully some of the kinks will be ironed out by the time it goes live.

There's room. After all, the Spiral Chamber door still has 3 vacant spaces on it. And there have been several references to other worlds (Grizzleheim, Celestia) found in the game.
Dragonspyre certainly seems to wrap up the Malistaire storyline. But who knows...? :wizard:

Just posted on the Wizard home page by Professor Greyrose.
"Everyone, I'm very proud to announce that we will be opening up the new world of Dragonspyre on the LIVE Wizard101 game. At the same time we will be adding our new Player vs Player dynamic and lots of other goodies.
To add these and other enhancements to the live game, the Wizard101 game will be offline Monday January 19th starting at 3am central time and will be down until approximately 7am central time. From wizard 101.com 1/18/2009 10:00pm:
Dragonspyre and PvP Update
Everyone, I'm very proud to announce that TONIGHT we will be opening the new world of Dragonspyre LIVE on Wizard101. At the same time we will be adding our new Player vs Player dynamic and lots of other goodies.
The Wizard101 game will be offline Monday January 19th starting at 3am central time and will be down until approximately 7am central time. This is a big update so there is a chance we will run past this four hour window, once again your patience is appreciated.
During this downtime the Wizard101.com website may also be offline.
Now about Dragonspyre, those of you who have received the Spiral Key for Dragonspyre from Merle Ambrose on the Live game, will need to speak to him again for further instructions. From there, you will have a fun little adventure and in no time you will find yourselves looking at page 2 of the spiral chamber door menu.
A word about the Player vs Player. After testing the wagering system for Wizard101's Player vs Player tournament feature, we have decided that wagering will not transfer from the Test Realm to the live game. Therefore, there is no need to implement parental controls for this system. Subscribers will be able to gain Arena Tickets and buy lots of great gear. Free to Play and Access Pass Players can use our Practice Arenas to build their tactics.
For more information see our Player vs Player Guide.
In other news there are lots of little changes to our worlds.
New Starter Wand!
Say farewell to Felix Navidad, but as a final present, he has granted new spells to everyone’s starter wands, and has placed that wand in the Wizard City wand shop for those who no longer have their starter wand.
This is a ONE PIP wand, that includes spells from all schools except your main school of focus. This way you can see what other schools are like and what their strengths and weaknesses are by using the spells on this wand.
Above is an example of the Ice School starter wand. Once new players have completed Unicorn way, they will receive a zero pip wand for their school of focus.
New Character Page
The character page now shows your Crowns balance and Arena Tickets, plus your stats, badges, and PvP rankings in a new layout.
New Mini-Game - Dueling Diego! Check it out for yourselves in any Mini-Game area, or for a sneak peek, check out our Player's Guide.
________________________________________
Some small details:
• The "Mander Savior Badge" can now be obtained by completing Tomb of the Beguiler. Players will not need to redo this quest to receive the badge.
• Heckhound spell has a new attack, and also has its fiery breath back, thanks to a lozenge concocted by Falmea.
• Balance Schools’ Power Play now accurately affects your pips.
• The % symbol now appears beside the resist stats in your character page.
• Wizards will now hear the pitter patter of their little feet as they adventure through the Spiral.
• Spells have been added to existing Jack Frost and Santa's Little Helper pets.
• Treasure cards slots have been added to the Deck of Self Examination.
• Character selection screen locations should accurately reflect the last area your character was located when you logged off.
• Players who have been defeated in a team duel will no longer gain pips while they are in a defeated state.
• Those of you who were previously unable to enter the North Clock Tower in Newgate Prison to complete the 'Stop that Cat' quest, will now find they can enter the tower.
• You can now trade Treasure Cards while you are in combat, so stock a couple extra healing cards for friends in need!
• A chat submenu has been added to the Menu Chat system to allow players to communicate about Player vs. Player
• Prospector Zeke can be found in Dragonspyre, look for him for his quest, but he doesn't have any Crowns items to sell you yet.
• The Earn Crowns button can now be found in your Friends Panel. Remember if your friend is already playing Wizard101, you don't need to invite them.

Congratulations to all of you who've been waiting so long for Dragonspyre to be released! I felt bad that many of you bought yearly subscriptions and were left with nothing to do after Mooshu.
As for me, I'm thoroughly relieved that the update did not add to the already huge amount of space that Wizard 101 takes up on my puny little hard drive. (Kind of a clincher for me not to continue into Marleybone and beyond; guess I'll be quite content with two worlds!)

Girl! You simply must get to Marleybone, if for nothing else, the clothes are awesome! lol I do know what you mean about the hard drive issues, I cannot play Wizard on my desktop. The lag is horrible! I've noticed it's bad on my notebook at certain times of the day, so I do try to avoid playing mid to late afternoons, when the kiddies are home from school. LOL
I have only just started Dragonspyre this afternoon and haven't gone far, but I can tell you that mazes don't thrill me. I may be there a while...if you'd like some company in Krokotopia, pm me! I'd be happy to play some Wizard with ya!

Girl! You simply must get to Marleybone, if for nothing else, the clothes are awesome!I do love the Victorian items; was lucky enough to get some as drops from the Halloween towers. The only thing I'm missing is high-heeled boots. Just not sure that's enough incentive for inching my way up to Marleybone with access passes. And if it's anything like beta, it would be like trying to walk through syrup once I got there. I might consider subscribing for a month and porting over there for a shopping trip, though.
But yes; the game really is all about the clothes! ;)I

Hiya! I don't remember what those guys resist, storm? Anyway, if you'd like some help with them, just send me a pm and let me know when you can play and I'll help you there. I'm a level 45 balance wizard so if nothing else I can help with shields and traps. LOL LMK and good luck!
Edited to add: If anyone needs a little help in any areas other than Dragonspyre, shoot off a pm to me and we'll meet up somewhere. I'm available most of today and maybe part of tomorrow. I can access the first area of Dragonspyre, but I would much rather help others get there than to battle there, at the moment.

The McTavish guys are for balance right? I have a balance wizard that has finished that and maybe I could help you out if you need it. I brought a lot of gold cards to help defeat those two. I kept using life absorbs to and then at the very end of my battle, someone joined in and I finished them off.

Chedstro/Sea (Morgan Mistcaster) and I will be finishing up the side quest in Tower Archive tonight after 10pm ET. If you have this quest (starts by fighting 12 Pirate Ravengers) you might choose to join us and get if off your books. If I remember from test it is just the street fights and then a boss fight. We also could help you on any other quests you have in Tower Archive.

I wish I had seen this a couple days ago, but here's my suggestion if this happens to you again. My guess is that you didn't get to the point to "Accept" the quest, so it didn't show up when you logged back in.
Unless you discovered this on your own, I'd go back to Falmea and see if she's got the quest for you still.
I can see that there are matriarch and other dragons in the Drake Hatchery.
I have completed the main storyline there and am going to enter the academy (I finished the Crucible) - I keep going back to the Hatchery because I know there is a quest for an egg but I can't figure out how to get the matriarch to offer me the quest!
Anyone have trouble with this? Am I trying too early?

Seems to me you are too early. You will be sent back to the hatchery to talk to the dragons and get the egg.
Did you get your Dragon rider staff yet? I think this quest line starts at the Fire tree in the Academy.
BTW, when you do get the quest for the egg, be prepared. If you go in alone, you will face three monster at one point.

If you've just finished the Crucible, you have the delightful Labyrinth to look forward to, which is an instance featuring 7 major Boss fights. {And don't think you'll get away with going there just once, either.}
Once you finally get to the Academy, it's off to The Crystal Grove (aka Spider City). After you are done with the main storyline there, you will be sent back to the Hatchery to get your drake.
The Secure House where you retrieve the egg is 8 levels -- and, as JGoof pointed out, one of those levels has 2 Fire and an Ice monster on it. And the top floor features a charming Myth Boss (4700 hp) along with her Ice minion. Proceed with caution!
Thanks for the warnings! Yes I did the labyrinth the first time, knew I had to go back. Did that yesterday and ended up on line a LONG TIME, because I have to solo so much. One of the street fights with a boss on the street I FINALLY got them beaten down, had like 350 health and a little WIZARD CITY kid manages to tp to me (I thought I was in an instance) = pulled in another bad guy AND then left - oh my goodness... luckily he came back fairly soon with another newer person (both under 600 in full health!!) Somehow we pulled it off.
But I can't do three alone - just can't do it. So I guess I will have to find some help for that tower.
Also for the end. (Malistaire) I realize it is a ways away.

You can teleport into instanced areas (like the Labyrinth or Malistaire's Lair). You can't teleport into the towers in Dragonspyre, however.
But I can't do three alone - just can't do it. So I guess I will have to find some help for that tower.
There are quite a few of us who play the game regularly. I'm sure if you post here when you get to that point, someone could help. You might also try the boards at Wizard101 Central (http://www.wizard101central.com).
FYI, you get another tower quest in Crystal Grove (for the Crystalline Queen) that is almost as bad as the Secure House: 7 levels of mostly Death and Ice. The good news is that you don't have to do that one to continue on with with the storyline, so you can save it for a better time.
Also for the end. (Malistaire) I realize it is a ways away.
It's closer than you think. But you MUST have at least 3 people to complete it. There are a few things there (3 separate crystals to activate, 2 different door guards to fight) that have to be completed at the same time.

I'm now a veteran of 2 assaults on Malistaire's Lair and would like to share a few pointers with my fellow DIS wizards. If you would prefer finding your own way through, I suggest you stop reading NOW. ;)
NOTE: KingsIsle has already changed this area slightly since the initial release on the Test Server, so it may change again after the next patch or two. The following info was current as of Tuesday, February 10.
Just so you know: There are NO health wisps to be found anywhere within this instance. Fortunately, you can teleport out and jump back if you need more health or mana. At least you can at the moment. To be on the safe side, you might want to have one of your party tp out and back as soon as you get inside, just to make sure they haven't changed it.
I hear it takes at least three people, but I'd assume the more people working together, the better...
Presently, it takes at least 3 people to complete. There are 3 crystals in 3 separate areas that need to be activated at the same time in order to open the door to the Crown of Fire (where Malistaire resides). You don't need to leave someone stationed at each as you find them, however. You can just go back to them, once you know where they are.
Also, after gaining entry to the Crown of Fire, there are 2 draconian guards (ICE) on each side of a final set of doors. This is a mandatory fight, and each guard has its own combat circle. Like the crystals, they both must be defeated at approximately the same time (say, within a minute of each other) for the doors to open. So your party will have to split up to take them on simultaneously.
Anybody know approximately how long it takes to finish?
It took us a little over 2 and a half hours the other night, but that was because LafChill and I had previously done it, so knew our way around (somewhat). Our first time through, however, it took us over 3 hours.
It would be great if we have one person who has done it, to show us around.
I'd be happy to act as tour guide -- but Thursday night's not good for me. Either Friday night or sometime over the weekend would work.
I wandered through the area last night and have no clue what we're supposed to do there. LOL!
I don't know whether this is a bug or if it is intentional, but there is absolutely NO direction given once you get inside the instance. You're not told, for example, about finding the elevator, or activating the crystals, or fighting both draconian guards at the same time, or anything else.
In addition to lack of direction, the maps are pretty messed up there. (2 of the areas are actually reversed!) Don't be surprised if you can't make heads nor tails out of them. For the most part, however, there is pretty much only one way to go, so you'll eventually stumble across the right route.
I also wandered inside, i did find the last book and found myself facing four monsters by myself. :scared: So I figured I would come back with some help...
That last book is relatively easy to get, as it is in an area where you can avoid fights. There are a couple other fights that can be avoided (for example, Tumok Gravelbeard). However, there are many other fights that cannot be avoided. Some, such as the Gurtoks, are obvious. A few others may look avoidable, but are not (so always keep your health high and your deck prepped).
Speaking of THE GURTOKS [the big Helephant things in Dragon's Roost]: Currently the Gurtok Piercer is labeled ICE when he is really DEATH. He casts primarily Death spells and Life spells used against him get a damage boost. This is a bug I expect them to fix (one way or the other) in an update, so proceed with caution. FYI, his two minions are correctly labeled ICE.
Regarding THE STONE ROSES: The Dragon Claw Canyon rose can be found at the front left side of the large courtyard after you disembark from your drake. It is currently bugged on the Live servers -- it's been fixed on Test -- and can be seen but not reached. Once they fix this bug, it will be easy enough to go back and get.
The final rose will NOT be easy to get, however. NOR is it in Dragon's Roost. Instead it is inside the Crown of Fire (within spitting distance of Malistaire), over on the left hand side just beyond where you fight the first group of Soul Servants.
Speaking of SOUL SERVANTS: They are like a bunch of pesky gnats. They are Rank 8 Death mobs, who constantly cast one-pip attack spells. They won't do a whole lot of damage, but shielding against them is almost meaningless. STRATEGY TIPS: Load up on Attack All Enemy spells (i.e. Frog, Meteor, Tempest, Blizzard, Sandstorm) if you can. Also, hang on to your Death shields until you see one who might be saving up pips for a bigger spell. And Necromancers: you might as well save your prisms for the Big Guy. (You will be fighting more of them alongside Malistaire, who is also Death -- and has 10,000 hit points, to boot.)
Good luck to you all! :wizard:

Good news! I'm FREE! There is a way to get out of that combat circle.
First, have a friend load only shields and blades in their deck (i.e. spells that you cast on yourselves). The reason for this is because, to get free, you are going to need to cast a spell; but since you don't have an enemy to cast one on, you (&/or your friend) will need to cast it on yourselves. It's probably a good idea to have your friend unequip their wand, too.
Once your friend's deck has few, if any, attack cards in it, have them teleport to you. As soon as a second person enters the circle, your cards will appear -- just as they do in regular combat.
The combat circle will clear and release you both as soon as one turn has passed. If, when your cards appear, you have a shield or a blade, cast it on yourself or your friend. If not, PASS and have your friend cast a shield or blade. Once that is done, the circle will disappear.
I suppose you both could just PASS or FLEE when the cards appear -- but since that isn't how it happened with me, I am hesitant to recommend doing that.
You won't be able to fight Vika Markmaker until the bug is fixed, but at least you won't be stuck in that combat circle until then.

We found the key to Grimcasters Tower in the Crucible so that door will now be unlocked.
Vika Markmaker has decided to join in on the duels once again.
Jing-han He has his memory back and will once again recall that he's given you a quest to complete.
Player vs Player teaming up issues will no longer lock players in a loop. You should be able to join matches and team up as normal. Please, do let us know if any of these issues crop back up tomorrow. Many of you have given us some GREAT feedback about what has affectionately become known as THE Fizzle Bug.
For those of you not familiar with this bug, its symptoms are round after round (particularly in PvP) of players fizzling ALL their spells, including 100% wand spells. (Now I'm not referring to just a bad streak of fizzles, this is something that will affect the entire team for the remainder of the duel.)
We're pretty sure that we've cast a strong enough spell to rid ourselves of this Fizzle Bug once and for all, but just to be sure, I want all our Wizards to try to make this bug happen in any way you know.
That is your assignment for this weekend, see if you can catch THE Fizzle Bug. If you do, post here about it, particularly:
Realm
Area
Location
Thank you! I hope none of you encounter this bug, and don't worry this is not an assignment that you can fail. :D
~Professor Greyrose
I have not experienced that bug, but maybe some of you have.
When she says post here, she means Wizard 101's forum.

I need some help in Crystal Grove, with the quest you get from Zarek Pickmaster where you have to find the crystal samples (Quest for Perfection).
I found the samples from the four locations in the first field but I still need to find the Purple Crystal Sample. I've been all over the field and can't find it.
I've done the other quests from Kazel Toothtamer in the second field. I see some crystal samples in the second field as well but can't do anything with them. I assume these are for a different quest.
Can someone help me with the location of the purple sample? I don't know if it's a bug or just somewhere that I haven't found yet. It seems I can't go any further in the storyline until I complete this quest.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to apologize to anyone on my friends list that may have sent a message or requested help today. My daughter, Elizabeth Stormwalker, has been playing my wizard today and informed me that I kept getting messages from friends that she ignored. I think she is trying to master the arena and is getting very frustrated. When frustrated, she can get a little rude. Just hoping that is not the case here. :flower3:

Sorry, I don't remember the exact location of the purple sample, but you find them all in similar places throughout the grove (i.e. inside those little side pockets off the main path). Having done it 3 times now, the one I usually miss is in the front pocket on the side opposite Zarek, near the tower.
The crystals in the other grove will be your quest after you find all of these. Also, if you haven't found it yet, the stone rose is near one of the crystals in the second grove.
Good luck!

You need access to all areas in Wizard City in order to find them all.
Ravenwood - behind the Myth School, next to the chasm
The Commons - near a tree behind the tents in the Fairegrounds
Golem Court - grassy area behind Golem Tower
Shopping District - behind the buildings on your right as you first enter the district
Olde Towne - near Gloria Krendell
Unicorn Way - on the grass in a corner outside of the Hedge Maze
Cyclops Lane - in Festival Park, across the stream behind Nolan Stormgate
Triton Avenue - by the far left waterfall, across the bridge from Duncan Grimwater
Firecat Alley - outside the Fireglobe Theatre
Colossus Blvd. - in the snow outside the Gobbler King's Castle

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. There are actually six sample locations. I had found the front one near the tower, it was the front one near Zarek that I was missing.

If you pop over to wizard101.com. read the headmaster remarks for march 03.
They have let us know that yes they have listened to the players. In a few weeks we will be able to trade between our own accounts.
Meaning all that crown stuff you bought can be passed dow to new characters you created.
That robe you got with awesome health or shields but you can not use because it is death and you are life.
Keep it for when you create a death character.
So heads up if you really like a part of a battle drop keep it so you can pass it along. Or sell it. Now you have a choice :)

That's great news! I'm glad I hung on to some of the better items my death wizard couldn't use.
Also, is anybody up for a Malistair's Lair run? I finally made it up to that point and am available pretty much any evening. I did some poking around the Dragon's Roost and am familiar with the area and what I have to do, but can't activate all 3 crystals by myself.

From the interview with Professor Greyrose on the Friendly Necromancer (http://thefriendlynecromancer.blogspot.com/2009/02/interview-with-professor-greyrose.html)'s blog (the source link in the Headmaster's Tower announcement):As for Wizard101, one of the most requested features is a shared bank between characters on the same account, and I'm authorized to tell you that feature is coming within the next few weeks. This will allow all the characters on one account login to share the same bank, which means that Life robe you found with your Storm Wizard can be passed on to your Life Wizard, and Crowns items can be handed down to your other characters as you grow out of them.

And that is why I put our OWN accounts. Meaning between characters that we have made with the same log in. Because the other way would mean everyone could trade and that is not the case.

If you still need Malistaire's Lair, I should be there in the next day or two. I'm in the Forum now, assembling the battle armor for my drake.
I know of 2 other DIS wizards at roughly the same point, so a Lair run this weekend looks like a distinct possibility.

How do I explore staff on platform in Throne room?
You need to complete the series of quests within that "instance". You fight a couple of bosses and get items from them to use on the ramp.
The first boss is out the door and straight down the street.

I answered the question by mentioning the quests, because I was so confused the first time through, as well. "Explore the platform" came up before I did get the components for the staff. I guess I needed to ask if he/she finished the boss fights first. :)

As Briar mentioned above it was very confusing when I did it also. I got the explore the staff before I even got to the instance and it did not go away before the whole instance quest was done. Very basically you will have to fight a boss in a room and then another in the hall before you can finish the instance.

Thanks! I got one when I made it to Krokotopia. I decided to buy access passes for the other streets and such, and despite my hesitation, it was well worth it! I like that I can have access to those areas forever, and I'm leveling up quickly.
Oh, I ended up beating Golem Tower as a level 9, with some luck and one bottle. Another person on this board said it: it helps build character.
So does Sunken City....that took *forever*.
I've never played an RPG before, and I'm finding that I really like it, even though I'm not a typical "gamer". :)

You get a second potion bottle upon arriving in Krokotopia, and a third when you get to Marleybone. So far, three is the limit (which helps make some of the 5-7 level towers in Dragonspyre particularly challenging).

All the level 48 spell quests give a 7 pip spell and a pet (with card) when they are completed.
Ice got the Frost Giant spell (575 attack AND stun to all enemies) and a Colossus pet (including an increased chance at getting a power pip) with a Colossus spell card. Even though there was a bunch of running around the 3 mandatory fights were quite easy for a level 48 Ice wizard.

Yup! We go through most of the flippin' Labyrinth only to find we get stuck on the first floor of the tower, after the battle there. When I left to try to go back, the Labyrinth re-set. I gave up. I'm not going through all that again, only to have to do it when the game goes live.

Oh was I ever ticked last night when it happened to me too! lol!
Fly, Bob and Coriander all helped me with the street battles there, and I was just hoping that the tower, once I found it! would be a single battle! Oh no....lets make it a multiple room tower. And, of course the bad thing is we don't even know yet how many floors it will have. ;)
Did you think to check the gate before you did the battles? Fly walked up to it as I was running back to 'Grimcaster?' after the street battles and found it opened when she approached it. It sure would be nice if it did open without the battles. lol

I checked the gate a couple times but it never opened until I got the key. I definitely think Myth has it the toughest. I wonder what's up with that. Question is, can we be helped all the way through the quest. I know earlier spell/minion quests, that took place in towers or buildings, had to be done alone.
I did the whole Labyrinth alone the first time but it takes sooo long. We'll need to coordiante and see if we can get in there together and get it done fast!

Being a Frost Giant spell it should be!;)
...we loved that little wiggle the ice titan gave as he cast his spells!...
Below is a link to a Youtube video I made of me using the spell (it seems to be a little slower than what really happens).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXpezvkw2uc
The Giant comes out of the earth and hits the ground with his hammer in front of every enemy to damage them. Then if the enemy has not died he does the "wiggle" from enemy to enemy and stuns them all (so they will not be able to do anything on the next turn).

...Myth...Question is, can we be helped all the way through the quest...
When we helped the tower would not allow any of us non-myths into it via the door or teleport. Might allow 2 myths doing the quest together to enter, but I kind of doubt it.
...We'll need to coordiante and see if we can get in there together and get it done fast!
Fly's Ice quest with help sure went much faster than my solo one. Just getting the wood piles and finding the missing sentries on the Crimson Fields instance was much faster with multiple people doing it. Another thing that speeded it up for her was porting to me at the different NPCs in Colussus Blvd. when she had to return to school between each one.
My suggestion would be for people with characters in the same schools to get together and do these quests. Even for quests with solo fight tasks it should be a little quicker.

I did both the Life quest and Ice quests solo.
Let me say that the Life quest solo was difficult to the extreme, so perhaps I could tag team with Myth people to get the Labyrinth done. I had to fight Hoarder first, then the full Labyrinth (defeating the dean), then the roaming boss in the street where Paladin hangs out.
The Ice quest was much easier, even with all the running around Crimson Fields.

I think the best deal is the $60-a-year Special they have run a few times now. It allows you to have up to 6 wizards and access to all current (and future) worlds for a year. Unfortunately, the most recent promotion just ended, so it may be several months before they run it again.
You can also purchase Crowns and use them to unlock areas of the game as you progress. Though this plan comes out higher than the $60/year deal, it has some advantages too. For example, once an area is unlocked, it will remained unlocked for you forever. So you could take extended breaks from the game without losing any time on your subscription. And if, years from now, you decide to create a new wizard, all your unlocked areas should still be available to you without having to re-subscribe.
I seem to keep creating people of the Ice discipline, Thermatogauge?!?!
It's "Thaumaturge". :wizard:
Ice is an awesome school. Since beta, I've played 3 different Ice Wizards, and currently have an Ice/Storm combo. He combines Ice's high health with Storm's high damage and is a real little powerhouse.
It's great trying out the different schools/spells, however. Though 95% of the tasks are the same, the game really plays differently depending on the type of wizard you are.

Thank you! Your information has been most helpful. After my vacation later this month, I plan on investing in a subscription. Until then, I will be knocking off the undead as much as possible in my quest for higher experience levels.

Hey everybody! My main character is myth and I've got a tip for completing the level 48 spell. You don't have to do all the street fights in Labyrinth (sp). I'm probably not using the correct names here, but bear with me. Defeat the Silver Sentinel to get the gate key that opens up the bridge in the lava area. You'll have the quests on your quest log to do the three street fights, but you don't have to do them. I just ran directly to the spear gate, and it opened. Then proceed to the three level tower to get the dog collars.

Get out, really? I did the Labyrinth by myself for 3 hours because they just would not die. :rotfl2: I was able to stop after the gate key task because I found my "street boss" there after defeating Paladin.
At least I got a couple of swords out of the deal. ;)
Oh and my new satyr's name? Queen Chase. I find this hilarious and won't change his name.

I tried that in the test server and it didn't work. Maybe they changed it after all the complaints! I'll have to check it out!:)

I tried this last night for my Life wizard and couldn't get the spear gate to open without doing most of the instance. I was just about done with one of the street battles when someone join my group causing another enemy to join. I started to get mad but then realized it was someone on my friends list who I knew could blow them away in a hurry which he did. Where was he about an hour earlier???

Unless they had changed it in the past two days, it didn't work for my myth character the other day. :) After I came out of the tower with the Silver Sentinel, I did run over there for some health wisps. And, it sure didn't open for me! lol Maybe they listened to some of the complaints from people? ;)

I really, really don't know what is happening here. :confused3 The spear gate opened for me without me having to fight Andor Bristleback, Zora Steelwielder, and Devora Shadowcrown. These are the three people I refer to as the "street fights." The part of the quest I skipped is called "Prison Break." Are these the people you are having to fight?
I just went back and retracked my steps in the Labyrinth to make sure I recalled it all correctly. After getting the bridge key from Silver Sentinel, talking to Dmitri Ironchains again, using the key on the east bridge pedestal, running across the lava, using the key on the central bridge pedestal, running across the lava again, I ran directly to the spear gate. When I had the level 48 quest, the spear gate opened for me, then I went to the three-level tower to get the dog collars.
Just to add, I was already a grandmaster and had completed all of Dragonspyre before I got the level 48 quest. Maybe that makes the difference?
Stranger and stranger! :rotfl2: I am so curious now, I just sent in a question about this to W101 on their contact us page. I'll let you all know what they say if they respond.

For anyone having to do the Plague Oni battle, you no longer have to light the shrines. I don't know if that was ever mentioned before, but it cuts out a big chunk from that instance. :)

Um, I should have been more specific, just in case someone hasn't done Shiritake Temple yet. If you've already done the WaveBringer (?) part of the instance previously and don't have to summon it, then you don't have to do the lighting of the shrines. Just thought I should clarify that if you haven't done the entire instance before, I would assume you would still have to do the shrines. Much better for those who are farming Oni, for sure!

Head's up! HOUSING has been added to the Test Realm (along with several other features). You can buy places in Wizard City, Krokotopia, Marleybone and MooShu. (Not Dragonspyre -- but who would want to live there anyway???) There are new shops in each world selling furniture items, and some quests now include furniture rewards.
Here's the Metropolitan Manor I purchased (for 15,000 gold) in Marleybone:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/skorp1028/Wizard/Picture2009-04-2223-07-29.jpg
There is an outside yard and a pond:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/skorp1028/Wizard/Picture2009-04-2223-05-22.jpg
It's going to take a lot to furnish this place! (Wallpaper and floor coverings can also be changed.)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/skorp1028/Wizard/Picture2009-04-2223-08-12.jpg
And that's just the downstairs! Upstairs is a hallway and balcony --
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/skorp1028/Wizard/Picture2009-04-2223-08-53.jpg
-- and another huge room!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/skorp1028/Wizard/Picture2009-04-2223-09-28.jpg
There's also an adjacent building with a cellar (but I didn't get a picture of that).
Nice feature: Each "island" has its own World Gate, so you can easily jump to any of the worlds from your new home. (Another new feature allows you to drop a marker anywhere that you can jump to later. That will make returning to quest givers a much easier proposition.)
Jolly good show, KingsIsle! :thumbsup2

Below is a little write up I posted on another forum:
---
The new housing in Wizard101 has now shown up on the test servers.
Your dorm room (given to all players for free) has now been made customizable so you can add furniture. It is still located in Ravenswood, so walking out the door will still put you in that area. This is much the same idea as VMK's room.
Free players can also buy (using in game gold) 2 different "island" styles in Wizard City. For players that have access to Marleybone, Mooshu, Dragospyre, or Krokotopia's Sphinx island there are 2 different islands to buy in each of these places. Each island (including its outdoor area, prebuilt house, and house interior) will be styled like the world you bought it on. The house interiors can/will (have not seen all of them yet) include multiple levels and multiple rooms. The islands you buy will replace your dorm room (they will include your bank) once you "equip" them. Access to your island is via the "Home" icon once they are equipped. From your island you can use the "Commons" icon to visit the world you bought the island on or a portal door to visit any world you currently have access to. I think only friends of someone on your island can access it.
There are items available to add to the exteriors or interiors on your island (I.E. you can get trees / fences for the outside and flooring / wallpaper / furniture for the interiors). Each world has a NPC to buy items from using crowns, a shop to get items from using in-game gold, maybe quests for items, and maybe boss drops of items. The only downside I have seen so far is it seems you can not stand / sit / lay on any furniture so it just takes up floor space and adds decoration to your interior.
Another improvement is they have added a placemarker feature. An example of this is that you just finished a street fight in an area and realize you need to fill up your mana. You can set a placemarker (I think only 1 at a time and it goes away when you return to it), go to "Commons" to catch some mana wisps, and then return to the placemarker point without having to run to it. I would have loved this in Marleybones where street fights are not easy to avoid and (if it works) in instances that you are doing solo or with others that are not friends.

I think only friends of someone on your island can access it.If a player doesn't have access to a particular world, and a friend has a house there, is it possible for them to visit? In other words, are the houses locked into whichever world they are bought in, or do they become part of a separate "housing" realm for all players?

Having a limit of 99,999 on the gold is really a bummer.
With the addition of the housing stuff, and the size of the houses, I am really regretting all of the stuff I bought, and clothes I have dyed because I was close to the limit.
The castle I bought in MooShu was 40,000 gold. That does not leave much left over to decorate all the rooms!

I took a bunch of stuff out of my backpack and was able to buy things. I also ran around collecting the free stuff, and farming off bosses a bit.
Now, the problem is, I can't pplace anything in my house. Well, I placed the "Crate of Pies" I got from Baron Greebly, but that's it. Most of my stuff is in my bank. None of it shows up in my furniture window for placement, and i can't get it out of my back.
I reported it and will try again later. Anyone else have this?

I will go see how to put things in the attic, i be back with the answer.

AFAIK, there is no Non-Disclosure Agreement for the Test Realm. KI only opens it when they are a week or two away from releasing something to Live anyway, so it's not like it's some Top Secret Beta project.
Also, KI actively monitors and participates in the W101 Central site -- and there are always tons of reports and pics from the Test Realm there. I'm sure if there was a problem, they would have said something about it by now.

Are you talking about the tutorial in the tower? If I remember correctly: Once the battle is done and the Headmaster leaves, you also need to leave the tower and go to the Headmaster's office to get the next task.
(Honestly, I think they did a poor job with this new tutorial. The old one was better, although it wasn't as "flashy".)

FYI: a lot of free furnishings are spread out all along the spiral. It's entirely possible to furnish your island in winnings alone, if you have the time and patience. heh This includes street battles, btw. Not just the bosses.

I am the happy owner of a unicorn statue and a fire cat statue. Too bad they do not fit on the pedestals :) I think this is a bug problem.
I told my hubby about the boss drops and that I was going after a unicorn statue so he goes and tries too and would you believe he got the unicore twice though can only have 1.
I kept getting pedastal :( but after 1 hour and 30 minutes I have a nice big unicorn :) And he has no pedastals. :)
I chose wizard city mansion because it seems the easiest to start with. And it has lots of rooms to decorate though small rooms more variety. But I do have another character with 56,000 gold and really can not decide what house to buy.
See it is prestigous to live in dragonsprye. But the house are dreary and not much to them in decorating space. Lots of out doors but all concrete. Would love to add some grass even if it is burnt grass.

I'm planning on buying either the Wizard City cottage or the mansion.
But I'm pretty bummed, because the choices for wallpaper at the WC shop don't include the tree pattern, nighttime stars pattern (not Wizdoodle), or the green Victorian pattern wallpaper. In screen shots/videos from the test realm, I saw those used in WC houses, but apparently KI decided to make them world exclusive. :(
I wish the Krok shop was in the Oasis so I could see the selection there; I don't have access to Krokosphinx Island yet. Could anyone check what their wallpaper selections are? Maybe even post some pics? If there's something worth shopping for, I might work my way there with crowns.

Ok, so I have been back from vacation for about two weeks now and while I am missing Disney, this game is certainly keeping my mind occupied. :thumbsup2
We don't have 7-11's in our area, but my partner travels alot and picked up a gift card for me out in TX this weekend. I used the code and got a pet Power Dragon for my Balance/Life wizard. I have grown to really enjoy this wizard. He's a tough little dude. I have several other wizards sitting at level 10, but there is something about Seth that makes him the one that I keep taking out for the new adventures that have opened up with the use of crowns to buy access to the new areas. I have a lot of work to do over on Collossus Blvd, but last night I did open up the Nightside area. I am going to try to wait until the weekend to go into the dungeon.
I was able to pick up the other two new gift cards at Rite Aid last night. I am going to wait on using them until I need them, but I have to say that I like the pets that they offer a bit more than what my Power Dragon currently is giving me. I can't wait to see what the new gift cards give us over the next few months. It's my understanding that they are releasing new cards with new "goodies" every month over the next four months.

From the names, I'm guessing none of those wallpapers are the ones I'm looking for. The selection seems to be even smaller than in Wizard City. (That's why I needed someone to post the Krok shop info.) But thanks for offering; I may take you up on some shopping trips if I decide to subscribe for a month. I have never heard of that problem.
You should contact the game's support on Wizard101's web site (www.wizard101.com (http://www.wizard101.com)) Click Help and Support on the main page. They are ususally quick to answer back.
Try to get a more precise description of your problem, like the exact error message.

I am a crown player and bought 5000 crowns. I have played the free areas and used Crowns to play Cyclops Lane and Firecat Alley.
I now have 1100 crowns left and I'm trying to decide between Colossus Blvd. or the first three areas of Krokotopia.
Could someone tell me if I can play Krokotopia w/o doing Colossus Blvd. and Sunken Cave? I've gotten the quest to visit Bartleby and learn how to use the spiral.
Also once you move to Krokotopia can you still come back to Wizard city and fight some bosses again?
I"m level 13 with about 1100 heath and 90 mana. Is that too low to be attempting Krokotopia?
Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

HI! Welcome to the Dis!
As far as I know, you do not need to complete Colossus to advance to Krok. You may have some quests that will require a visit to Colossus, though. I know Ice wizards have to go there, not sure of other schools. There is another side quest, either from Marleybone or Krok, that sends you to Colossus as well. Sunken City is a stand-alone side quest and you don't have to do that at all, unless you are a Death wizard? I think...there is a school spell quest that requires Sunken City, but that's much farther along in the game.
You are fine for Krok. The only thing you may freak out on is the two monsters against your wizard in battle rings. You learn this in Colossus, but having skipped it, it might be a shock. LOL Once you have that spiral key, you're good to move to that world. You are always free to travel back to places on the spiral that you've already completed.
HTH I'm sure others here will have more info for you, too!

Hi Goofer!
This spell will create a dome above the duel area. It will increase the chances to get power pips at each round for all the wizards in the duel.
I don't use it a lot because i already have a very high power pip propability. I am not sure, but i think the monsters also get power pips when you use it. I have seen it only once, so it might have been a bug.
Hope this helps! :wizard:

You may have some quests that will require a visit to Colossus, though. I know Ice wizards have to go there, not sure of other schools.Life wizards need to go there for a spell quest at level 12. They are the school that is most impacted by skipping Colossus; they will miss out on Life's only three-pip offensive spell.
You are fine for Krok. The only thing you may freak out on is the two monsters against your wizard in battle rings. You learn this in Colossus, but having skipped it, it might be a shock.I agree, but it wouldn't hurt to spend some extra time fighting bosses/leveling up in Wizard City before starting Krok, since you won't have the additional health and mana that would have been gained by doing Colossus Blvd. Makes for a less painful experience.

When you buy a castle or home does it come with just one room?
I note a lot of people mentioning "forest rooms" and stuff - which houses have that?
Can you use marleybone furnishings in a MooShu house? I am so broke I have to really think through which castle to buy.
Thanks for all advice.

Hi Peri,
Some islands have some sort of hidden indoor place, i don't know which ones because i have not purchased one of them. One of the Maleybone island has some sort of "subway station" and one of the Krotopia has a cave.
What is important to know, it's that the most expensive island of each world will allow you to put more stuff in it. Like my Mooshu Imperial Palace, I can put 150 items in the "outside" area and 250 "inside" That limit seems to be the same for all the expensive islands of each world. But I can't be sure since i can't go verify. And all less expensive islands seem to have the same limits also: 50 items "outside" and 150 "inside"
Maybe someone else can confirm the limits for other islands.
As for the furniture, yes, you can put furniture from any world on any island.

Each world has two houses available, a larger estate (you can place 150 items outside and 250 items inside the house) and a smaller one (you can place 50 items outside and 150 items inside the house). The houses get more expensive as you "go up in the worlds".
In WC the small house (the house consists of a loft area (bedroom?) and a somewhat large living space downstairs) costs 8000 gold, and the larger version (the house has three levels with 3 small rooms and 3 large rooms, a large outdoor theater room, and water area) is 15000 gold.
Krok small is 10000 gold (it consists of a couple tents), large is 20000 gold (there is a sphinx, OK size 2 level house (5 rooms?), water hole, and lots of sand).
MB small is 12000 gold (1 large upstairs room, 1 large downstairs room, an additional room outside, and a pond), large is 30000 gold (many roomed house, large glass enclosed outside room with stage, another area that would be nice to put any statues you acquire, but you can't go into the water).
MS small is 15000 gold (1 large upstairs room, 1 medium downstairs room, an additional room outside, lots of green and sunshine, and water areas), large is 40000 gold (no upstairs, 3 large rooms?, 2 small rooms, large outside green and water areas with bridges - if I remember correctly lol).
DS small is 20000 gold (sort of large downstairs, 1 room upstairs, small outside patio at the very top third level, and a water area, it is all hardscape but you can place trees on it - that's what my husband did and it looks very nice), large is 50000 gold (I really don't remember much about this one as it didn't appeal to me much lol).
Forest rooms? Either they were putting trees inside their house, or there is a wallpaper in MS (?) that is trees, also a floor that is leaves. So you can change the existing walls or floors with wallpaper or flooring that you purchase from the shops in the different worlds.
Furniture obtained in different worlds go anywhere. But be aware that some furniture is not tradeable to another character. I believe all statues are not tradeable, and the "free" secret furniture is not tradeable. You can also obtain furniture from quests. To find more info about where to obtain this furniture, look at the Wizards Central Web site (wizard101central.com, under Housing, stickied). And, of course, you can actually buy some furniture.
Also, on the same website mentioned above, some people have made videos of their houses so you can preview some of the houses there.
Hope that helps some. Happy Wizarding!
Thanks Happy and Goofy - I think I am going to get the small MooShu house and decorate it - seems big enough for me!
Even though I am a grand master, I have almost no money - ha ha. I buy LOTS of cards at the library, that always uses up my dough, so now I am on a budget.
See you there, I hope - I play at wierd hours, though!

I hope so too. It doesnt make sense not to. A lot of people out there won't be very motivated to play on and waste all that potential XP. I even left a few side quests, in Dragonspyre, until they lift it.

I have a character that is a Level 17 Diviner. I was doing a quest in the Chamber of Fire in Krokotopia. The one where Hetch has asked for a library book and you are sent to the Wizard City library and and the librarian tells you someone borrowed it and to search the crates in the Chamber of Fire.
I had just found the book right below where Salam Ibn'dur stands and all of a sudden my mana went from 125 to 39 and when I clicked my backpack and looked at my stats page my maximum mana is now 49.
Does anyone know why this happened?

Nothing it set in stone (either way), so you might consider waiting till it goes to test. If you feel that you don't want to wait at that point, you might consider doing only the primary quests and leaving the secondary for leveling up if a max cap increase comes along sometime later.

Just some clarification on Grizzleheim; it looks like it's being designed to play alongside any mid-to-high-level world. Here is Professor Greyrose's announcement from the 101 page:We're proud to officially reveal plans for Grizzleheim, a new 3D world to be added to Wizard101.
Inspired by Norse mythology, Grizzleheim is an airy, outdoor landscape of snowy mountains, glacial ridges and towering trees that is home to three new Wizard101 tribes - Bears, Wolves and Ravens.
Players will first encounter the Viking Bears of Grizzleheim, great traders with the ability to travel the worlds of the Spiral, in the free-to-play areas of Wizard City.
As student wizards adventure through subsequent worlds, Grizzleheim will offer new quests, new locations to explore, new opponents and new Viking-themed decorative housing items interspersed throughout the mid and higher levels of the game.
For more information and awesome screenshots, see our Grizzleheim page (https://www.wizard101.com/site/home2/wizard101/page_8ad6a40421580c0b0121690146290349).So I don't think there's any need to rush through Dragonspyre, as access to Grizzleheim does not appear to depend on completing it.

No, thanks, but that was the first thing I thought of too. Nothing I was wearing would have had that big an effect. It's like I lost all the mana gained for about 10 levels. It even went back to a blue wisp only giving me two mana at a time when I use them to recharge.
I guess I'll try customer service.
Thanks
I would love to go into Grizzlehelm (probably spelled that wrong) but am not going to play my high level character until the exp max goes up, since I just don't see the point of it - I agree with others who saved sidequests and also I have not finished dragonspyre simply because getting no exp is so annoying. Not as interested in the "drops." So I will just wait until they get the cap raised, i am sure they will be able to figure it out soon, as they are a very bright bunch!.
