Thank you Cat, Briar and Rolls for that blazing fast Grubb run! :cool1:

Woot!

I know! I couldn't believe how fast we flew through it. I hate the Ubiquitous Street Fights that you can't get out of, but at least I know where they are. ;)

I have to thank you and Fly for all the time we flew through Krok and parts of Hyde Park. Yesterday, I was able to help Cat and Olivia through the Smogger fight and all of the Big Ben series. Plus I had gone to Colossus to finish my last Gobbler badge!

I am currently in Chelsea, so it will be a while before I can get through those areas for my own quests!

FYI, we noticed some changes for Big Ben. The cat is located somewhere else in the tower, but still near some crates. ;) There's also a room close to the end filled with health and mana pips. You can fight the Crusher, return for more health and mana, then fight Meowiarty.

And the cool thing? New drops. I now have a really cool ice wand that Meowiarty gave me. It's another "big stick" (aka staff).

I know that u have to defeat lady black hope to get one of the history of magic books,but i cant figure out how to get a quest to defeat her. i know that is has to be from seargent muldoon, but i completed unicorn way and i still havnt gotten the quest....
i am quite confused...:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused3 :idea:

You don't get the quest right after Unicorn Way. I don't remember exactly when, but if you continue the quest line from Sgt Muldoon, you should get it at some point before you are done the three streets in Old Town.

I did this not to long ago, and I cant remember where, but I do remember enoguh to say JGoof is correct.

I think its not until collosus blvd before you get this quest, its quite a bit after unicorn way for sure.

Lady Blackhope is the first quest that you have once you finish Unicorn Way....it is the 'testing' put forth by Sargeant Muldoon to see if you have what it takes to go into the other streets. After you beat Lady Blackhope then he grants you entrance to the 3 streets.

Here are the last series of events for Unicorn Way:
beat 3 fairies for dust
she looks at the dust
4 bone cages
you get stopped at the door with fairies saying thank you
you talk to her and she sends you to Nightchant
he tells you to beat Skullsplitter
beat Skullsplitter

The official last thing you do in Unicorn, as a part of that series of Street quests, is talk to Mr. Nightchant after skullsplitter....he sends you with the "Unicorn Way Report" to the Headmaster. You need to check and see if you got the last quest from our Lady of the Hedgegrove...where you get stopped at the door. You will get your pixie card from her then. It is sometimes difficult to see if she has a ! because she is so tall and the "x" position for her is too close.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Ok first I want to thank everybody that has helped me out in the game the past couple weeks. You know who you are and you know you are appreciated!

I was not looking forward to doing Marleybone again, but it is the only way to get to Mooshu!

I finally finished running all over the place, there and am now left with a few final quests that will take a group effort.

Kensington
The Lab
Big Ben

If anybody has a few hours to spare, or also needs these quests please let me know. I will be on every evening this week.

Ok back to work for me, I am not supposed to be on the computer! I just got so excited when I saw the tag fairy paid me a visit, and figured I would post this while I was here.

I have not done Kensington yet and would not mind helping with Kat's Lab or the Big Ben area only problem is I have to do it while at work during mornings. Our lap top power cord has lost it's power so I can't play at home till I get it fixed.

I am liking death school this time around. So far I have come up with these statistics on the death minion, who changes depending on how many pips you use:

1 ~ Etheral Servent, rank 1, 100 health
2 ~ Charmed Sprite, rank 2, 200 health
3 ~ Crypt Watchguard, rank 2, 300 health
4 ~ Ghoulish Retainer, rank 3, 400 health
5 ~ Summoned Soul, rank 3, 500 health
6 ~ Captive Banshee, rank 4, 600 health
7 ~ Living Scarecrow, rank 4, 700 health

That was as far as I got. I also found out the number of regular pips you can have is 7. It was weird that I got 7 regular pips in a row as my percentage is quite high. I might play around with it somemore to see how many power pips I can get, in order to see how far my death minion goes. If you got one everytime you should be able to get up to 14 pips.

So how does your minion stack up? I remember with fire it cost 3 pips and there was only one minion.

Yes, I was most definitely in Mooshu when I got my Dryad. (Druid? giggle!)
I can't remember if it was before or after Sanctuary, but I'm thinking it was before. I was going to wait on Grubb until absolutely necessary but decided to change my mind and help people this past weekend. I am not fond of Grubb, and I'm not looking forward to seeing him again!

There are 3 of us playing together, so if they are willing to have Grubby on their homework list then I might just wait.
I don't mind the street fights as much as the LOUD BRIGHT tower. Egad...get him a swatch of Sherwin-Williams "Loch Blue"...I will spring to get it painted!!

9 ~ Enchanted Howler, rank 6, 900 health
10 ~ Crypt Walker, rank 6, 1000 health
11 ~ Risen Tomb Master, rank ?, health 1100

This is as far as I got so far. There appears to be some kind of bug, I could see the health and see the spell cast, but I could not see the minion :

I personally wait until I am into Krok and have 2 potion bottles.
I had no problem on my Life person, at any level, because of all the heals.
But my fire person needed that little extra potioning between floors to make it.

Number 2 is sad to see. :sad2: It is really bad in cases where the game actually forces you to do the instance again.

Wednesday September 10, we will be performing an update to include a few fixes to Wizard101.

This will require that we take down the servers, and you will be unable to play while we make these changes.

Wizard101 will be down September 10th from 7:00am Central Time until approximately 10:00am Central Time. If our downtime is going to be longer or shorter, I will post it here. The website will be online, so you can read some of our Creative Writing and view our Fan Art Gallery and Photo Album!

As for what we're doing during that downtime, here are the Patch Notes for the September 10th update.

1. The first position in a duel will no longer be targeted at a higher rate than the other positions. Target is now random but can still be affected by any spells that are cast on you to draw or deflect aggression.
2. Instanced quests have a new dynamic that decreases the amount of experience rewarded after repeating the entire instanced quest. Instanced quests such as Sunken City, Throne Room of Fire, Crimson Fields and other similar instanced quests will be worth 100%XP the first time you complete the quest, 50%XP the second time you complete the quest and 0XP the third time you complete the quest. You will still receive the full experience rewards for the individual duels, and you will still be able to earn badges and items.
3. All the shops in Marleybone now have names!
4. Lights that were previously not turning on to indicate there is a quest in that building, should now light when needed.
5. Cyrus Drake has been busy with his red corrector pen, and several spelling and grammar errors have been fixed.
6. Players can now re-use the dirt piles during the quest "Distressed Earth" in Ancient Burial Grounds
7. Sokkwi Keymaster has turned around and is no longer standing backwards in the Emperor's Retreat.
8. The "Great Forest Spirit" is now properly named "Oakheart"
9. When you exit the Temple of Storms Instanced Area, the quest 'Test of Strength' is properly removed from your quest log.
10. A few quests have been renamed, “Missing In Action" has been changed to "By The Old Mill", "Buckle Under Pressure" has been changed to "Make Some Plate" and "Rand's Bands" has been changed to "Spade Aid".
11. Wands that previously had a class restriction such as the Wand of Contemplation and Grum’s Staff of the Muse, have had their class restrictions removed.
12. Players can now teleport to friends who are in the Eyus Maximus instance.
13. The Lightning Bat pet name has been changed to Storm Bat.

Just a few changes, and I'll repost this in the commons if you want to comment.

Ok the change in the experience points for repeating an instanced level is just wrong.

A lot of times we go back and help our friends through these areas. We should still get experience points every time we repeat these areas.

Everybody needs to post on the wizards home page message boards that we are unhappy with this change.

Sure now that we are paying lets make the game harder?

Reading Dreamytime's post, she is trying to say to wait until you are a little further along in the game to try the Golem Tower run. It's ok to leave it in your notebook for a bit while you earn more experience and can then absorb more damage from the bad guys.

Krok was short for Krokotopia - an area you get access to after finishing Wizard City.

Sorry not with you on this one. While sad to see the change, I can rationalize why they are making it. It wouldn't surprise if there were already a bunch of Grandmasters running around and I would guess that they want to slow the maxing out of wizards a bit to maintain interest. The only thing that I do not like about the change is the timing. In my opinion, this is a significant change that should have been made and communicated the moment the game went live and not a week in. As long as KI continues to make new content available, I'm ok with waiting till Dragonspyre or beyond to get the Grandmaster title back.

Yes I think this is a move to slow the pace of the game down a bit. Even though those generous enough to help others are going to miss out on some XP, it does make sense what they are doing.

LafChill
09-10-2008, 07:35 AM
The reason I see the change as possibly detrimental is that it may make it more difficult for some to get together the teams they need to do some of these more difficult/unpleasant instance areas. The modification I personally would like to see to it is if you are there is a first-timer in your group that you get something, even if it was only a quarter of the original experience. I understand the desire to stop experience farming in these areas, but I do think it might cause trouble for others at least in part. The Zeke gear actually makes the possible ramifications of this even more obvious - no experience for helping others really and in many cases, no need for the gear dropped either.

I am not that upset by the change in the instanced areas. I would still redo them if I get the smaller experience (when helping friends).

Just my opinion.

Yes but they are saying the 3rd time through you get NO experience points. That is the part I don't like. We should still get something, is all I am saying.

I'm honestly fine with the change since they are still giving the experience points for the individual duels within the instance. I can understand their reasoning and I would still be willing to help out, even when it comes to not getting the instance's EP the third time.

Well I posted on their sight. I think that you should get some experience points for having to do the quest again. Like Ironworks

We have done most of it 3 times.

First as a quest. Next to get the cat we forgot and finally to get some sweepers. What a pain to go in and not get anything for the hassle to get 4 sweepers.

Though I do agree they are trying to slow the game down but we should get something for doing the quest again.

Cat gave me a good tip about the Sweepers. Abigail Doolittle keeps giving you sweepers to fight. Once I had to get the Golden Ruby from them, but I managed to do it while on the Ironworks quest I had going concurrently.

But later, you get more Sweepers from her, AND from Bill Tanner in Knight's Court. Cat suggested that I do all the Sweepers in Knight's Court, and it worked like a charm for me last night. I got credit for all the Sweepers I needed in three different quests.

However not a total loss, since you should be getting experience points for the quest you are actually completing there at the time.

This works in some quests, but not in others (it seems). It seems some quests are just looking for that type of enemy and others need the type to be in a specific area.

The way I intrepret this is that you will get a small amount of experience points for each fight you do within the instanced area, but you won't get the hundreds of experience points you get for completing the quest. I say this based on the last sentence.

I certainly took advantage of the instance exploits in beta, but I know why they took this away. Simply put, the game is designed with a specific progression in mind. People can/will blow that progression by exploiting the instances.

You can agree or disagree with the reason, but that is the reason why they made the change.

Just to clarify,

I am no where near to being maxed out, I am still in Marleybone. I will always help my friends whether I get credit for it or not. I enjoy helping my friends. However, I do spend a lot of time playing alone.

If I choose to do an instanced area a few times to level up, as a paying customer, that should be my perogative. Especially since we were encouraged to do this in the past.

Before the final wipe, I couldn't wait to get home from an awful day of work, so I could jump right in to crimson fields, kill off a few bad guys, get my frustrations out, and earn some nice experience points all at the same time. And that was before I had even finished Mooshu. I dread having to go back through the cave of sorrows...but that is another story.

Marleybone and Mooshu are very tough, (I can only imagine any new areas will be much harder) and added experience to level up, means more health and mana, which is very helpful when you take on these areas alone.

This type of change should of been implemented during beta testing, not after going live.

I am not trying to be greedy or not help anyone who needs it. I am just the type of person that gets pulled into battles very easily and I need all the help I can get! :grouphug:

Is it just me, or is the fizzle in Marleybone worse than ever. My wizard is life/storm, I have over 1600 health, and I'm fizzling over half the time in battle. I have been defeated twice in battles in against two hooligans or a burgler and a hooligan whose combined health is 1050.

I'm just amazed by everyone's progress here. You are the wizards of Wizards! I am still in firecat alley.

I have not purchased anything with my crowns yet. Is it better to wait until maybe level 15? Is there better stuff then? I am trying to budget my crowns and don't want to impulse buy. :confused:

you could always wait and get better, but let me tell you what I did.

I bought a level 5 boots, then at level 10 I got a levl 10 hat, then at 15 i got a level 15 shirt. Some people are waiting for the big items, but I figure the crowns wont disappear so fast this way and I can take advantage of the items when I really need them, at lower levels :)

Just the way I have been doing it.

Malistaire is trying to prevent you from helping Ambrose and has blocked all purchases!

Until the faculty of Ravenwood can figure out what sort of spell he used, you will not be able to buy subscriptions or crowns! You can still help to save Wizard City by logging in and playing.

I think it maybe possibly be what Aliceblue pointed out that the discounted price was still available after the end date passed.

I finally finished firecat allley. Why is it that street seems to take forever! I have the quests for Colossus Blvd in my book but Merle has sent me to Krokotopia already. I will do the quest for Colossus to level up but I thought before that I had to do Colossus before I was allowed to go to Krok. Did this happen with everyone else?

PrincessNoelle:

I don't remember in earlier Beta, but I visited Krok before doing Colossus after the last wipe. Here are some suggestions:

- You can go to Krok and talk to the mander in the Krok world teleport room, and he will send you to Talbot. Talbot will then give you your second potion bottle. He will also try and give you another quest, you can either accept or decline (I declined so as to not have it on my quest list, you can accept later).

- Also remember the Secret Shop is there. In it is the mummified deck which is a great purchase (750 gold, I believe). I purchased it, but I had to wait until I was Level 15 to use it (I still have it and I'm at level 27 in Marleybone, which I'm dreading doing - I do not like this place!).

- Also you can purchase other pendants in Krok. I got the Fire Elf pendant, it's great in Colossus (except you only get one card, and Fire is a fizzler). Since you have to battle two bad guys at once, just cast the Fire Elf on one of them then work on the other. During Beta, I got the Ghoul pendant which is also available on Krok, another spell that I really like to use.

Good luck, and Happy Wizarding!

Yes, it was the same for me. I did go take a peek and shop a little, but i completed Colossus before beginning Krok.

You can go see the first Mander to get you second bottle, i might help you in Colossus.

There are a ton of errands you can run in Krok that will earn you a lot of XP before you even fight anyone there. I always do them before returning to finish up Colossus.

Check with Hetch (the purple mander in the Oasis), Za'ane (the librarian), Professor Winthrop (in the Altar of Kings), and the NPCs in the Excavation in the Royal Hall and the Dig Site in the Chamber of Fire. It's a lot of running around, but I think you earn almost a full level of XP without casting a single spell.

I don't think you get shields for those schools because you're part of the Life/Myth/Death shielding trio. I know that I am a Life and Myth combo, and I have the duo shields of Myth/Death and Life/Death from those schools. I think Balance is the school that gets shields from everyone else's school.

I can say that I know for sure when the Life group will have to go back to Sunken City to fight Grubb. It's Level 38. I'm not looking forward to it, but I know what I'm looking for, at least!

And to save any new Life wizards from sheer misery trying to figure out where the "pyramid inside the Altar of Kings" is, please PM me if you want to know. I spent a lot of time trying to trigger that part of the quest, so I felt pretty stupid when I figured it out before the wipe. ;)

You can train the following shields from Sabrina Greenstar in the Minigame Fairegrounds for 1 training point each (all shields are level 10):

Snow Shield -80%
Death Shield -80%
Life Shield -80%
Fire Shield -80%
Myth Shield -80%
Storm Shield -80%

I am not sure if you have to train them in a certain order or not.

Some of you may have run into the wooden chest bug in Big Ben. The quote below is from Mr Lincoln since we've been chatting a lot lately over bug reports. :lmao:

As for the Keys to Success quest, the good news is that this is a side quest, meaning it is not required to progress through the game. The bad news is that the quest line itself is broken because the first chest you need to get is the wooden chest and it does not appear. Our development team is working to get this fixed so patience is going to have to be what gets you through this one

TY Briar. I was putting off my first Grubb run to do this one simultaneously. I am level 36 now so I see myself doing a Grubb run in a couple days. (And sure, send me the hint, but if it was in the pre-wipe Grubb run, then I didn't have a problem with it on that wizard. Just refresh my memory if it was offered in that quest.)

I asked my playing partners to wait until I had to do the Grubb run again. So when we do the Grubb run we will have room for 1 more person. We will be 2 level 38 Fire/Life and 1 level 38 Life/Ice. We can get you through with relative ease. Just let me know if you would like to join us.

LittleWoodenHead: I'm a Ice second school...guess I should have said that huh? So for me that stinks. But, personally, they waited until you were that late in the game to get an ice blade!?! That is crazyy! :wizard:

Has anyone figured out how we earn this badge?
My level 22 Myth Wizard has it, but not my level 38 Ice Wizard. Since my Myth Wizard has just started Krokosphinx Island, it had to have come from the Pyramid of Fire. Also, the badge shows a picture of the Pyramid on it.

After discussing this with LafChill, we think that I must have gotten it during a Myth School quest. Specifically: At level 18, I had to fight Death Pixies behind the door with the 2 bug obelisks in the Royal Hall. It's the only thing my Myth Wizard has done that my Ice Wizard has not (and cannot).

Unfortunately, now that I have completed the quest, I no longer have access to that door.

I went through Grubb today with some friends, but there was part of the quest I completely forgot about. You have to defeat the Plague Oni in the Shirotaki Temple in order to get the school spell. I'm still in Kishibe, so I have a while to go yet.

On the weekend we ran into the no wooden crates in Big Ben and we went up and down and up adnd down looking for them.

I also hated talking to brick top cause he would just ask the same question over and over and over again.

I too did not seem to get the book. Does that mean we have to do it all over again oh no. Oh well.

We also where fighting 3 polluted colossus guys. We won but the whole game froze then we find ourselves in another battle. Problem is we see our stats but not openent. We could not do anything but flee or watch our pips go up lol.

Anyone else had this happen to them. And we never did get any credit for deading them. But then again it was for elements and sometimes you get nothing anyways.

I just ran into this bug in Big Ben, however I couldn't advance past it. When I defeated the group on the eighth floor of the tower where the silver chests are, the door to the next floor didn't open. Were you running Big Ben solo? I posted about a similar problem to this in the thread about solo instances. I'm starting a new Wizard. But I am out of quests in basic Wizard City.
Did the basic Unicorn Series. Got my Smiths. Did the library routine.
ANd now I can't get any quests other than Golem (and do not have enough life or mana to go to the top). How do you get Merle to tell you to solve crimes on the three streets?

Is this a bug or is there someone else I can get a quest from. I've done 6-7 wizards and never run into this block.

Here is what I wrote as the last steps of Unicorn. Backstep and make sure you got them all.

What have you guys figured out on this side quest?

THree of us did this last night in 3 hours - it was a grind for sure. (Thanks so much to Dmamie and Rolls)

We THINK we completed it - the "Defeat Stoker in Stoker's Lair" did show up even when he was long gone and no place else for us to go -

The reason I think it was over is because when we left the instance the quest disappeared completely from my list.

This is a BAD QUEST don't do it - very little experience, really long time to kill them off, no drops to speak of - unclear and stupid ending to it :confused:

Skip it, is my advice. You have to fight three at once if you are alone, by the way, so only go in with a group[ - oh and each mob there is many points - like 2000. Aggghhh.

When you leave any "instanced" quest, the quests will disappear. If you checked your quests before you left, you would have known for sure whether it completed.

A few of us were considering doing Kensington this weekend, but your post is giving me second thoughts. Last night, Fly and I did Beguiler, my first time doing it, ever. Actually Kimberloonie and I did it with just two people (of course I DID have my cyclops minion). It's not terrible like Kennsington, or boring like Big Ben, but it did take almost three hours.

And, with a little prinde I might add, we did it with two characters who have not even been to Markleybone yet. (Marleybone = Drag). Now, if I don't show my pride I should add that I am a Myth wizard and she is a Life wizard and that'a a pretty effective combo.

BTW- Is it just me of does the game seem down for maintenance again? (3 pm CDT)

After you defeat him the first time, you talk to H.G. Waggs. Then you get the "Defeat Stoker in Stoker's Lair". That is when a teleporter in that room activates. You go through there to a series of I think 5 rooms to finish the quest.

hmm we did go to talk to dog and then teleported downstairs but there were no other rooms down there, I don't think. Well, maybe we missed it.

As to leaving the instance and it disappears - well sometimes that is true and sometimes not lol. you can certainly leave an instance and return, that is what we were trying to do.

On Beguiler, i did that before I reached MB and I did it with one other person just took a while.

I thought I saw that the first door was not opening after you talked to H.G. Waggs, teleported and defeated the first battle before the wipe, and that it had been fixed. I cannot confirm that unfortunately, I am not that far in the game yet.
But from what Peri is saying, it might not be fixed if they couldn't figure out how to continue (I think it's set up the same way as golem tower, after you win the battle, the gate opens)

You guys seem like you need some help, I have a solution.

There is a book in Marleybone that seems to substitute the Crimson book. In the warehouse where Baxter was kidnapped, the book is in there, it says it's a Marleybone book, but it gave me the "Goal Completed: Use The New Beginning" thing, then I turned in the quest and got my experience points.

You're welcome.

Actually, it's not in the warehouse. It's in Hyde Park, in the hovel by Emily marked as "Gearhead Destroyer" on the map.

A few of us stumbled across this in beta and it was not fixed at launch. For those that are interested, the Hyde Park book does give you credit for the Mooshu Crimson Fields book.

Well, my new characters are ready for Marleybone.
I hate Marleybone.

What is the quickest way to get through this?
That's a big question.
Let me re-phrase.

What can you skip? What is the key to getting to Mooshoo?

I'm gathering, for instance, that you can skip Kennsington.

Thoughts?

I'm gathering, for instance, that you can skip Kennsington.

Thoughts?
If you just focus on the storyline in each section and skip the side quests, you'll be surprised how quick you can get through Marleybone.

In Hyde Park, for example, the main storyline is The Search for Baxter. The quests for this are given by Mrs. Conrail. She may have you talk to other NPCs as part of the storyline, who might give you side quests of their own. But just try to follow the main line (primarily safehouses and lockpicks). Don't go questing after Emily Chesterfield's packages or umbrella or Mr. Rowley's rings.

In Chelsea, you are still after Baxter and the main storyline involves getting access to the central Clocktower.

You can't skip the Ironworks. It is part of the main line.

In Newgate Prison, you are chasing after Meowiarty following his escape. Even if you do the side quests here, there aren't many. I think it's the shortest of the non-instanced Marleybone sections.

The Knight's Court storyline has you tracking down Jacques the Scratcher. There are a ton of side quests here that you can skip. You'll need to talk to the ladies as part of the main investigation, but you really don't need to deal with all their clothing problems, or help David Beeman get his tea.

Katz Lab, the Counterweights, and Big Ben cannot be skipped.

Definitely skip Kensington. It is a completely separate instance, just like Sunken City and Tomb of the Beguiler.

Also, I believe you can skip the quests initiated by anyone in the Regent's Street area (including Marcel the Mime Cat and the Frog on Scotland Yard Roof). Abigail, in particular, is a pain, who will be more than happy to give you a thousand different side quests -- mostly involving the Policemen's Ball and/or Street Sweepers. Once again, you may need to talk to some of these NPCs as part of the main storyline, but you don't need to complete their side quests in order to proceed.

One problem with fast-forwarding MB is that you will be missing a whole lot of XP -- and that translates into levels and additional spells. If you do most of the side quests, however, you will easily be Level 33 or 34 by the time you get to MooShu.

You will also miss out on some item rewards that can help you a lot in MooShu. The aforementioned David Beeman, for example, gives you a very nice deck as a reward for retrieving his fiddle from Sweepers. (Abigail, of course, starts that quest chain, but you need to do her earlier Policemen's Ball quests to get to that one.)

Overall, I would recommend against moving too fast through MB. It is a marathon, not a sprint. But then, I don't mind the place as much as some seem to. I have a lot more issues with MooShu -- but that is the subject for another day.

You don't need Grubb to proceed in the game. I myself tend to be in my 20's before I even think about doing it. I know some people who do it even later.

We have periodic "Grubb Runs" here on DIS. They tend to be on the weekends, however, as it takes awhile to get through the whole thing.

You might try setting one up yourself, by specifying a day and time. I'm sure if others are available then, they will be more than willing to help. In the meantime, just keep working on your other quests. Grubb can wait. ;)

:mic: I am alerting everyone to check the boosts they are supposedly getting from their clothes and accessories.

I noticed this weekend on 2 of my wizards that the stats shown on the character screen do NOT equal what they are supposed to. In one case, clothes that should provide me with a total accuracy boost of 5% are only showing a 4% boost. In another case, my clothes should be providing me with a 20% shield, but I am only showing 19%.

One percent might not seem like much, but since some of these clothes have been purchased from Zeke with Crowns (i.e. with real money), I am not taking this shortage lightly. :mad:

I have sent several messages to Support so far and am awaiting a decent, non-form letter, response from them. If you find that your wizards have been shorted, too, please send Support that information. This is the only way we will get KingsIsle to pay attention to this problem.

What my character has on added up correctly. Though I didn't go through and check all my supplies to see if putting anything in particular on created a shortage. I do not have any bought with crowns stuff, all mine are drops.

I reported that stats issue while we were in Beta Test, before they removed the Beta report button. It happened with dropped items (purchased items didn't exist then lol). I also was "short" by one percent.

I sort of feel like we're now paying to Beta Test.

Go back to the spot you were when you appeared in the room. The code will appear in the back of the room.

As soon as you walk forward, the code disappears.

Good luck! :wizard:

Do you mean counterweight west? In that instance, after you fight a certain row of enemies, you will see some small tombstone-like things set up at the entry to the elevator - one will be lit - just jot down the name of the lit object as you complete each level - you need four or five in order. When you get to the room with the symbols on the floor - light up the symbols in the same order.

I hope this is where you mean.

It looks like they snuck in an update in the night. They've added some Halloween decorations to WC. The haunted tower is up now and Spooky Bob has arrived.

Also they've added a bed button to the map which takes your directly to your dorm room. Not sure what else there is that's new yet.

We can now fight the Jade Oni again.

When we enter the Jade Palace, the Jade Champion has a new quest that respawns the Oni.

Woot harvest time!!! :wizard:

Edit: When we come back for a second fight, we dont get the quest. We just have to "use" the obelisk behind the Jade Champion

Hmm, that doesn't sound familiar. However, I remember going to the water there, in the main entrance chamber on the Temple of Storm, on the left side. Something about freezing a potion or shard? See if that is the place.

First of all what can you not see - the Frost Colossus or the Storm Chamber in the Grand Arena?

If this is an Ice School quest, it does not sound familiar to me. I went to The Shopping District, The Ice School Training Tower, Colossus Blvd. (a few times), and The Hall Of Champions to find a Colossus at one point or another. If it is an Ice School Quest at what level did you get the quest?

I recall getting a quest like this at Level 18 on my Ice Wizard. I remember I needed to go to Krokosphinx Island to fight the Colossus, yet I did not have access there yet. I was still in the Pyramid of Fire at the time, so I teleported to a friend on the Island in order to complete the quest.

I can't remember whether I had to go to the Grand Arena or the Hall of Champions. I do know, however, that I had no trouble finding the Colossus to fight once I was on the Island.

Like many other things, they may have changed the specifics of the quest in an update since I did it (well over a month ago). But if you don't have access to Krokosphinx yet, then that is the reason you can't find it.

I had the same problem, but the Colossus was definately in the Hall of Champion (and marked as such on the map) when I did it. I also seem to remember fighting somebody in the unmarked (for me, at the present) room by Khai Amante the Great in the Grand Arena area and this might be it.

In any case, access to Krokosphinx Island will be needed to get to the Grand Arena area.

I just hit level 18 on my Ice Wizard. In the text, when you get the quest, they say go to the chamber behind Romi. which, when you enter, is to the left. It has an icon of the Colossus in there. And yes, I needed a friend to get me there, as I didn't have access *yet*. It's in one of the areas LittleWoodenHead mentioned (I can't remember offhand, but I do know it's on the Krokosphinx island)
Hope that helps.

My daughter and I are still in the Krokotopia area. Just started the Grand Arena quests. She has actually stopped playing so I am playing both wizards for now. We are both level 21 but I (life) have 355 more health points that she does (storm).

I need to get her some better clothes. Is the shopping better in other worlds than it is in Krok? If so, is anyone willing to let me visit them so that I can do some shopping for her? Are the clothes only for a certain level and up?

I have her in the most hideous outfit right now but it gives her the most health. I'm sure her spells would fizzle less if she looked better. :rotfl:

That's right. My Ice Wizard did this last week. If this is the quest that gives
you the Ice Minion (Guardian) it's worth it. Not as tough/smart and my Cyclops minion, but better to have than none at all.

I remember being very greatful because ,while a fighter the Ice Wizard, is loaded with DEFENSIVE weapons. Ice Guardian does not protect, just fight.

But it takes 3 pips to launch him unlike a Cyclops/Troll which will launch with as little as 1 pip. (OK, at one pip he's a bit wimpy.):rolleyes1

I finally made it to the Well of Spirits. I need help on the Tomb of the Beguiler. I already tried it with my two wizards. We finished the Serket spider. When we were in the second battle (can't remember what it was), we were just about done when another wizard showed up adding two more bad guys to the battle. After that he went through the teleporter and spoke to Jah'mes then disappeared. We got the message that Jah'mes' brothers (?) were held somewhere on that level. I looked at my quests and it still showed "talk to Jah'mes". He wouldn't talk to me! I was looking around for what to do next but kept getting pulled into battle. I had to leave because I was out of time and out of potion. I know I am going to have to start this all over again. Does anyone know what to do after this point?

Yeah, wait until much, much later to do this quest. :wizard:

All kidding aside: You don't need this quest to progress in the story. Like Sunken City in WC and Kensington in Marleybone, the Tomb of the Beguiler is an extremely challenging side quest. Fortunately, you can take it or leave it. I have a Myth wizard, for example, who has completed MooShu and yet he still hasn't done the Beguiler.

My Ice wizard, on the other hand, has -- and had a similar problem with talking to Jah'mes at one point. I was with several other wizards and they all got him to talk to him. Although I got the pop-up message, the task did not clear or advance in my spellbook. Eventually, I mapped out back to the Oasis, then teleported back to one of my friends in the Tomb. That seemed to fix things: I had the next task in my spellbook and was then able to finish the rest of the quest without further problems.

You should still be able to do these side quests, despite having finished the MooShu storyline. They are progressive and linked from one area to the next.

Start with the Mossback quests in the Cave of Solitude. Once those are complete, you can move on to his quests in Kishibe Village, Shirataki Temple and the Ancient Burial Grounds (in that order). After those are all done, you will meet a different earth elemental, Wavebringer, for the next set of quests in the Village of Sorrows. Once done there, you can go to the Tree of Life and get the final quests from Oakheart.

Upon finishing the whole series, Oakheart will ask you to meet him back at a dojo in the Jade Palace. WARNING! THIS PART OF THE QUEST IS BUGGED! Although you will receive the "Spirit Walker" badge, you will probably NOT receive the 2840 XP award. Since that is a substantial amount of XP, I would wait to cash in that quest until it is fixed.

Hi everyone I need some MAJOR help. I have decided to move my main school do myth. (I decided to move to myth because in ICE i find the spells do a lot less damage than the other schools it seems they are mainly focused on having a lot of health so they can survive with there lower damage spells) to do this I started a new character, Joshua MythCaster I am a level 6 I am currently doing TA (Trinton Avenue) FCA (Firecat Alley) and CB (Cyclops Boulevard) I could really use some help getting these done. I am not looking to get a wizard city staff i would just like to go to Krokotopia and get back to where I left off. I was a level 26 Ice Wizard (2 levels were earned in Moo Shu). I was just starting off the Tomb Of Storm.

I would greatly appreciate to help get back up to Krokotopia. I think I will just need maybe 3 people. Also can anyone give me any tips on getting at least 1,000 health by Krokotopia. I will appreciate ANY act of helping, even if you only help me accomplish one quest I really will be grateful. Please PM me if you are willing to help me. We can set up a time and date to meet up and add each other to our friend list.
If you want more health before krokotopia but some new clothes, shoe, hat, wand, ring, knife, and neckless.

Looks like they have quite an update planned. NOTE: Be sure to shop around those color combinations on the Zeke gear for gold... it makes a huge difference in price.

Wizard101 will encounter a downtime starting at 3:00am Central Friday October 31st, lasting approximately 3 hours (till 6am Central)
If all goes well, it will be up even sooner than that.

Below are the patch notes for this update! Enjoy!

Big Announcements!

New Tutorial!
Major changes have been made to the tutorial, including hearing Merle’s voice guiding you through your first spells – you may want to create an additional Wizard to see what adventures Merle has in store for his newest students.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zeke’s Crowns Items can be Purchased with Gold
Zeke here! I’ve gone Spiral Wide!
I’m letting the local shopkeepers in each world sell my goods!
If you have crowns, you can buy items from me, and if you have gold, you can buy the same items at the regular shopkeepers .
Sometimes I get special holiday items in, and those items are not available from the shopkeepers, but you just might find the rare one on a boss creature!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Area Access Passes

Hey there Young Wizard! Not a subscriber? Still want to explore other areas of Wizard City and the worlds beyond? Well now you can!

While subscribers can access all areas and content of Wizard101, non-subscribers can now purchase Area Access Passes with Crowns. These Area Access Passes will allow players to enter areas that they’ve earned through advancement and questing, but were previously blocked from because they were not subscribers. Firecat Alley and Nightside are examples in Wizard City of these areas.

Each World on the Spiral will have new areas for you to explore. Simply walk up to any street you previously could not access without a subscription and follow the instructions to Buy an Access Pass with Crowns. Once you purchase an area, you won’t ever need to purchase it again on that account.

Don’t have any crowns? You can buy them easily at Wizard101.com.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quest History
Your quest log has new arrows in it that manually allow you to cycle through a quest with multiple goals, such as Zeke’s Find the Smiths.
There is also a new icon on the quests you have received that will show you the history of that quest. See more below.
Click on the yellow quest question mark and a new panel will open. This panel allows you to see the conversations you’ve had leading up to and during the current quest!
Say Farewell to Spooky Bob and Friends
Hallowe’en is almost over, but Spooky Bob, Jack Hallow and all his brothers will be staying in Wizard City until November 7th. This gives you time to complete your Hallowe’en quests, purchase a Hallowe’en item, explore the Haunted Tower and enjoy all the decorations. Once Spooky Bob and friends have left town, any unfinished Hallowe’en quests will disappear from your Quest Log.
Hopefully we’ll see Spooky Bob back next Hallowe’en, or maybe even sooner!
Other Changes to Note
1. Pixie and Dark Pixie pets should no longer flash pink.
2. Marleybone: Chelsea Court – Your friends can now teleport to you while you are in Chelsea Court, in case you need some help!
3. The Quest Take it by Storm is now something you’ll have to complete on your own. This is now a gauntlet area, and no longer has instance sigils outside. Friends can still teleport to you to help out, but you must enter on your own.
4. Some people previously on your ignore list, may have to be re-ignored.
5. There is a new option in the Options Panel to allow you to limit the tutorial tips you see. This should only be used by advanced Wizards!
6. Your character panel now has a starry background so you can more easily see your clothing.
Have fun and safe adventures! There are other surprises in the worlds of the Spiral for you to discover on your own!
I submitted a question to them from their website and got a response 25 minutes later! They are awesome!
Hello there,
We have not made any changes to this. You will need to login with one patcher at a time. So open up one program and login and press play. Then once logged in run the patcher again and login. This should allow you to play 2 clients at the same time.
Hope this helps!
It sounds like all of the new updates are going to be a ton of fun. I can't wait for the patches finish so I can get in.
Perhaps it has been fixed with this patch, but previous to this patch when I went to my backpack and changed my outfits I would see an outline of what my clothes would look like. My dad on the other hand has a full picture so you know how goofy you look before you accept the change. I tried updating all my graphics, etc. However, I could not find the right setting that would give me this full view. Has anyone else run across this?
So, I have another question. Does anyone else have problems loading from screen to screen. It seems to take me FOREVER. I thought it was an issue with carrying too many treasure cards but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is anyone else having troubles with really long load times between pages?
I don't see any of us leveling up until Dragonsprye finally opens up. I've been doing bosses over and over trying for drops and helping other players also move on up to Mooshu, and my XP is barely 'snailing' higher. Definitely not inch by inch, more like micromillimeter by micromillimeter! :lmao:
And, I'm still only a little more than half way to level 45.
I suppose I could go do Sunken City and the Map room and Tomb of the Beguiler over, but somehow I don't think that will take me up much either.;)
It is said that doing the Jade Oni solo will give somewhere between 300 and 600 xp. This does not seem like a lot, but it is said that it does not decrease as you do it multiple times.
To do this talk to the Jade Champion in the palace and then light the obelisk behind him. The Jade Oni will then show up.
Woot! I made it to level 46!
It only took about a month and a half!
I have been fighting for badges, boss sword drops and pet drops.
One thing I have noticed is that if you are fighting, for example, a level 3 monster, only use 3 pip spells and lower to finish him off. You get a few more experience points this way.
I found that when I was fighting stuff for the badges, that if I wiped them out fast with one big spell I got hardley no experience points at all.
At this point every experience point helps.
A friend and I have gotten our second wizards to Marleybone and need some help with kats lab, if anybody is bored and wants something to do.
Got to Grandmaster level 50 on tuesday. Had been at level 48 for over a month. But with determination I finally got there. Good luck to all who are trying to level up no matter at what level.
If you see Cindy (Morgan MistCaster) or me (Robert IceCaster) on send us a message. Should be pretty easy now that we are both level 45!
We also still need to do Beguiler and Kensington Park. Is there any instance area in Mooshu that is exclusively a side quest? We did all the quests we could find in all the story line areas.
I'm still on Level 45. :)
I've been trying to earn some badges, and I found a great monster to fight to boost the Golem and Elementals badges. Fight the Desert Golems at the Palace of Fire in Kroktopia. :thumbsup2 Thanks to JGoof for keeping me company during the completions of the second badge of both. It's pretty tedious to fight them alone all the time.
I've switched off to getting my second cat badge, and again, tedious. I think we need to get a badge club going so we get a full house of monsters per duel to make the earning go faster. :laughing:
But I did have an accomplishment last night because I was so burnt out on the badge fights. I decided to fight the Jade Oni alone. :eek:
For most of you, that's probably not a big deal. But since I'm a Life wizard, and the Jade Oni is a life boss, it makes it especially challenging. I stocked my deck with 6 convert life to death cards, and I brought out my sprite guardian minion. I also had a couple of life and spirit blades, which boosted the occasional Myth card I threw at him.
It took a while, but I successfully defeated the Jade Oni alone. :banana:
I've soloed the Jade Oni a couple of times with my life wizard, but after my sprite minion kept burning up my prisms on imps... I decided I was better off without the help. :rotfl: I was using a smaller deck and reshuffle but it certainly makes for an interesting fight to solo as a life wizard. I got the storm blade on my second try, so opted to stop there for the moment.
I know that I am in kindergarten compared to you guys but I finally made it to Marleybone. :woohoo: It took me about 3 hours last night to do the Karanahn Palace quest. This is a place that I can do again, maybe. I am so tired of krokotopia at the moment.
I was wondering if anyone remembers how to get back to the Ghost of Krokhotep after defeating the last boss. There seemed to be no access that I could find. By accident I clicked the home button on one of the wizards and ended up back at the Oasis. I went back through the Tomb of Storms to get to the Well of Spirits and then had my other wizard teleport to me. We both got credit. Anyone remember how to get back without doing it this way?
You can go back the same way you got there. However you will not see the teleporter until you get in the same room and close enough to it.
After you fight and defeat Nightshade (at the end of the Haunted Cave) the Professor gives you the quest for Nightside. You 'find' the entrance and go in.
The first part of that quest is the person in Olde Town who gives you the key to the tower, but I can't remember their name. You fight "her", then Nightshade, then go to Nightside.
Double posting I know, but I didn't want this rant mixed in with my help. Kinda negates the helpfulness that I was trying to let shine.
Is it just me, or has Wizard lost its shine. I think after going through 3x (?) wipes and the constant, never changing grind of quests that I can't stomach another go around. I have my Life wizard in Mooshu and 2 others which I half-heartedly got into Krok. I seriously don't have the patience nor inclination to do anymore people nor finish the 2 in Krok.
I am glad I didn't purchase I year of this game because as of today I haven't logged in since the October Halloween quests...well I have logged in, then immediately log out because I just can't stomach another kill.
Does anyone else feel this way? I see you all trying to farm the bosses and get to higher levels even after finishing all the available quests and I think "omg, way to go", but for me I just can't do it. :wizard:
Hey, Dream! Yes, I think Wizard has lost some of its original 'shine', as you call it. I still play, I still find it fun, but it's missing that community feel that I think is crucial for a casual gamer, such as myself. The endless battles are repetative and have become very boring. Some of the quests are ridiculously long and tedious, as in the Counterweights, Big Ben, etc. The instances. I still have a problem with forcing players to run through instances that can take upwards of two or three hours to complete without breaks.
I keep hoping KI will bring in something more than just battles for their players. The ability to have community events would be a nice addition. Allowing student wizards to decorate their dorm rooms, perhaps. Just a little 'something' more than what the game is would help keep me interested.
Fiona Green, my avatar, is in Marleybone. I've just completed the two Counterweight instances solo, but I'm taking a break from attempting Big Ben. I'm just not interested in getting through it, even though I'd love to make MooShu. I have another wizard in Krok. That is where she will stay, as I find Krok to be really dull and tedious.
Im glad it's not just me feeling this way. It took me forever to finally sit down and put in the 2.5 hours for Big Ben just because it becomes so tedious. I have been sitting in front of Crimson Fields now for four days and am dreading beginning it. I keep going back and defeating bosses for drops to avoid it :headache:
Not that I don't really like everything else, it's just the loooonnnng battles I dread.
I am almost certain that, even if she could find the time, I will not be letting my daughter sit in front of this thing for that long!
Dreamytime
Green you hit it exactly. Even on VMK we had time we could just be creative (room building), wander around with friends, or just sit in a room and talk.
As much as I loved (loved, loved....to the 10th power) fireworks, I was most often, 80 to 85% of the time, in a room building or just hanging with my friends.
I miss that community feeling. I REALLLLLLLY miss that feeling as I write about VMK in my blog and pull up pictures from Dreamytime's and Nightmaretime's past.
Elf Island might have that community feeling eventually, but right now I'm not 100% sold on the game. I think it is the colorforms look, reminiscent of Pixie Hollow, which is bothering me. I am sure that things will change, so I am going to wait patiently as they listen to our suggestions.
I have to admit, Wizard and Elf Island BOTH have customer support that any company should be proud to have in their corner.
But the thought of killing another mander or fighting another cow is just abhorrent to me. I really need to see a new land. That might make me wanna brush off my wand. I know, I don't HAVE to play Wizards. But paying for it makes me feel responsible to get my money's worth. So, I guess I am saying, give me something that makes me want to get my monies worth? idk... it isn't the clearest of rants. :)
And Ailaena, you are right, if I was younger, living at home, my mom would never let me have those long stretches in front of the computer. 2-3 hour quests that you can't pause or continue at a later time? Seriously?!? I thought the ideal world had a full compliment of activities for kids: school, outside exercise, friends, chores at home and computer time. 2 hours for a quest, tied to a computer, is only asking for more obesity and a loss of connection within their familial community. (sorry for the soapbox...putting it away)
I have just made it to Marleybone so my interest level is still pretty high. They have got to do something about Krokotopia though. I didn't think I would ever get out of there. Right now, I have been going into the "Halloween Towers" just for the drops and to give myself a little break from the quest scene. Still haven't gotten the pet spider. I was in the tower the other night with a wizard who was hesitant to join the battles because she was so afraid she was going to die. She had about 700 health. Since I am a Life wizard, I was able to keep us alive and she was really excited by the time we got to the top floor. That was fun. princess:
btw, what bosses up to Marleybone give the best drops?
My two "young" wizards are both in krok and may not move up, either. The reason for me, though, is not Krok, it is Marleybone, which I can't stand. The very thought of having to do that lab again, not to mention CW east, west and big ben - Agh! I like Krok, though. Well, each to their own!
I also am winding down, sort of waiting for Dragonspyre then I hope I dont' just RUSH through it and have nothing to do. I probably will not renew my subscription unless a lot of new material comes out or there is a substantial shift towards learning "making" skills or some other type of game.
Having said that, I do think this is great game and Bailey Wintergem is standing around in Mooshu, waiting for the next world to open!
What I think we need is another Dis meet. Unfortunately our friends list does not carry over to another character. So I miss anyone I know who is on :(
If you see Paige LionGlenn level 45 hanging in Mooshu wave hello
I have my third who is level 26 At Tomb of storms. Miranda MYthflame. Would love to have company. She is myth and has cool little minions my favorite being my first one. Sure he is only 45 health but he can knock off a few hundred easy before he gets knocked off. And that means that is one hit I did not get :) 0 pips needed my favorite minion. :)
I play every night so if you would like to me let me know. :)
Glad to see somebody else shares my love for the Puppet minion. Too many Conjurers are quick to ditch him for a Troll or Cyclops minion; they don't give the Puppet his due. Sure, he doesn't cast Fire Elf or Storm Shark -- and he can't survive even a single hit -- but he frequently manages to get off several Fire Cats and Thunder Snakes before biting the dust. All at the cost of 0 pips to me.
My Conjuer is currently farming Oyotomi in MooShu and still uses the Puppet minion from time to time. Usually, Oyotomi doesn't notice him for several rounds and then blasts him to pieces with a 3- or 4-pip spell. But better him than me. :)
I definitely think that one of the problems right now with Wizard is that it is difficult to carry your friends forward. I had a ton of people who were my friends due to a DIS meet before the last big wipe. Now I have my dad and the two of us go and run through all the different levels. I do have to admit that it's been a lot of fun to play the game with him. I don't get to see him much because he's in Dallas and I'm in Austin.
So, maybe we should post in for some sort of normal time to MEET up with everyone. Sometime that we always know if we're in the game we can go at that time to that location and that realm and pick up more friends.
I also agree with the time rant. It is agonizing for SEASONED players to go through the repetitive instances for 2 - 3 hours at a time. There should be a way to freeze play. I know the time is built in there in order to draw out the game and I think it should be there.. Or maybe the answer is making the instanced levels no more than an hour.
These guys at KI are smart cookies. They have come up with a really great game and a really great concept. The graphics are amazing. The game is very kid friendly. The challenges are fun. I know people think it's tedious to fight the same kinds of things, but trust me, being a programmer, there is a TON of variety in this game.
Am I hearing that the two big gripes are:
1) Lack of a strong community
2) Long duration for instanced levels
If there are more, voice them so that KI can help. :)
Happy Wizarding!
Ok, the weirdest thing just happened to me in Wizard 101. I was fighting two O'Leary Nappers when they suddenly decided to leave. They didn't disappear, they just walked away. My cards were still showing and I was able to click on them. Then I totally disappeared. I had to log off and back in to change it. When I logged back in, I was in the middle of the street in one of the safe areas.
Isn't the dig site the wide open area? It's been awhile since I have been there, but it shows up as a big space on the map. You may need to click on several things there before you find what you are looking for.
If you are looking for a pile of dirt that contains ? (forgot what) it is against a wall. If you enter the Royal Hall from the pyramid and then the dig spot, it will be on the left hand wall just about where you can first see the NPC (forgot his name too) in there.
I completed Katzenstein's Lab today and it took about five hours. I was trying with my two wizards and then a friend came to help. He had to go after awhile so it was back to just me. Then a wonderful wizard by the name of Angel Dragongem came to my rescue. He was simply amazing to watch. I think I need to go back to class after watching him. After working on that one quest for so long, I just want to go back to Unicorn Way and defeat some little stuff. They say the next one is even harder?
