SELL YOUR SCHOOL...........

Hey there!!

Well, I finally finished everything we can do and I am now considering starting a second wizard. I have no idea which schools to choose for the next go 'round. Alura SeaWalker is a Myth/Life girl.

Tell me about your school...pros, cons, loves, hates etc....:thumbsup2

Thanks!!!

I also want to shout out to the DISers who helped me become the Wizard I am today!

Kenneth LegendSmith (LittleWoodenhead) & Morgan NightStalker (LittleMermaidsMom): both of whom I've spent many long hours and late nights with battling evil! You two were always there, at just the right time, and were always pretty much on the same page!! :flower3:

Madison StormCloud (LafChill), Padric FireStallker (AZCat) & Rowan DragonFlame (Flyng Pegasus): Felllow adventurers who rescued me many times and answered many a pesky question!!:worship:

I don't mean to leave anyone out! Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this new cyber adventure. See ya 'round the "other realm". LOL!:grouphug:

 It's been fun helping each other get through the tough spots.

I also finished the Tree of Life last night and made it to level 46.

Thanks to all my friends who helped along the way!

I am fire and life. The fire minion is somewhat helpful. He throws a lot of shields and blades. And a lot of fire elves, with the occasional fire cat thrown in. It may not seem like much, but those fire elves add up to a lot of damage after 3 or 4 of them. 50 + 210 over 3 rounds.

I like having life as the second school the healing spells are really cool.

My other character is storm and death. She was able to get through wizard city and the golem towers on her own. Only thing not tried there is the grubb run. I am not far enough to get a minion with her yet. I really like the shark and the kraken spells.

I am not sure what I will go with if we have to start over again. I will probably keep the fire, and then either life or storm.

Oh and Kenneth: Anytime you want us to go through the rest of Mooshu with you, just let us know. You know we are here for you!

I have a training point that I can't use for my secondary school until the next level. (Don't understand why they give them to us early. :confused3) I am wondering if there would be any benefit to spending it on a Myth Shield from Sabrina GreenStar instead; I've been getting some heavy hits from Myth lately. The next spell I can get from Professor Drake is Time of Legend, which adds 25% to all Myth spells. (Does that mean it effects multiple spells cast during the battle?)

Those of you with a secondary Myth, which of the two spells would you recommend? (My first school is Storm.) What would be most helpful with solo battles, in particular? If and when I finish Krok, I will probably not be trying to complete Marleybone, so I may not be around for Minotaur at level 33 or Earthquake at level 42. Would like to just get through the Tomb of Storms.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would have to say LafChill has me thinking, that balance really does sound like a really good thing to have along with you.

I enjoy my myth/death ,but death as a minor just doesnt seem to be very useful in my opinion, I see it as a much stronger primary skill.

Myth / balance sounds more interesting now

wizards update, wish I could make it, bet it would be a blast!

If any texans can make this I hope you can give us a full report!

i was not originally planning on going to this, since i am well over the target age group and it sounded kind of "kiddie" for me...but since i live literally a few blocks around the corner, i really have no excuse not to go. it will be cool if i get to talk to the developers, and i'm hoping there will be schwag of some sort :wizard:

i'll post a report next week.
anything you would like me to say to the developers?

we have an ice colossus i dont have him yet but i KNOW that they pass for a couple rounds then attack with high damage

I have the ice colossus and he is great! I really enjoy being school of ice. My health now is almost at 3000 and I find that I am more able to fight by myself. I did an ice/balance combination and now that I am finished getting all that I can, I will do life. The only bad thing about ice is how late in the game that you get your minion! Level 28 I believe, don't quote me on that one though. It was really late int he game though and what a quest I had to go on to get him! Now I just really want my frost giant! :wizard:

You should have a blast. You may be past their target group but there was an article sometime ago that had them telling of their surprise of how many older people were playing the game. You will not be alone I am sure.

I dont have any specific things I personally would like to pass on, but I would love to hear all about it :)

I hit level 22 today and after collecting my WOOT FROG, i went and picked up my skeletal pirate card. I started thinking... You experts still swear by the stick to one secondary school?

I have to tell you, I cant see when i would ever use a 5 pip spell that is not relying on my power pips to get me to 5. I have to wonder if spreading your points around to maybe a 3rd school doesnt have its advantages

where am i missing the strategy?

I'm sorry if this was already discussed, but I was wondering if when Beta ends, do we lose our accounts or do we just have to pay? And does anyone have a timetable for when this could happen?

Anyhow, I love the game and am currently level 15.

I'm seriously debating that, too. I didn't use my last training points on my myth second school for Time of Legend, because I can't imagine waiting for all those pips to come up. Since I'm Life, I am thinking of adding death. I have three training points, and I'm sure the Spirit Blade and Spirit Trap will be helpful if I mixed in some Myth and Death into my spells, especially now that I'm seeing lots of Life creatures in Mooshu.

I really like my Life wizard, though. I managed to get through two obligatory "street battles" in Grubb, along with Paulson on my own last night! I needed help with the multiple tower guy and Grubb, though. I actually HAD to do Grubb in order to start a quest from Moolinda, my Life teacher. I won't actually GET the spell until I finish a temple in Shoshun Village, which means completing LOTS of other quests, I'm sure.

And once I get that last collectible oyster for Prospector Zeke, I'll have a fourth training point.

I think I'm either Level 38 or Level 39 now.

2 pieces of information...
a) You will either find in a drop or be able to purchase a wand that gives you an extra pip.
b) Wear power pip clothing and extras.

I didn't find my extra pip wand in Marleybone like my friend did (she got it from Smokey I believe). I had to wait to purchase mine in Mooshu. I usually go into my fight with 2 power pips so all you have to do is trap and go for the next round. I have clothing and jewelry on which give me 2007 health, 321 manna and 40% power pips. :wizard:

My second school is fire. And I did use my Helephant spell a few times. In Mooshu, some monsters are pretty resistant (even immune) to some schools. So strong spells in another school help a lot i think.

My first school is death. It would have been very difficult against the death immune Oni in the Tree of life.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. With the higher level bosses being totally immune to things thrown from their own school having a high second school is essential. Yes you can purchase gold cards, at a very high gold cost, but only your own schools can you "Monster" for that added damage or "Keen Eye" for added accuracy.

I was very lucky in Moo-shu that I only came across two bosses immune to Fire. Even still, having that Life Centaur, bladed, trapped and Monstered was essential for winning those two fights. And just the opposite for the Life Bosses when I was throwing my Helephants all doctored up for maximum damage. :wizard:

When the game goes live you get to start over. If you go to the Wizard 101 forums you will see many threads about this. The developers ran a poll asking if we would pay 9.99 a month to play a while back. Some people want the monthly fee and others want to have free basic and pay for a premium account, etc. It appears, from what the developers have posted, that they are planning on a monthly fee, but who knows?

We will find out very soon!

There is no way you can be out of quests. Did you do all the people in Old Towne who send you to Tritan, Cyclops, and Firecat Alley? Did you start the Golem Court quest?

Anyone with an "!" or "?" has something for you. You need to check.

What I read from all the discussion and the survey it will be $9.99 per month but gives you 2 accounts. They have already given me 2 accounts, btw. I play and was able to get another account, under my email address, for my nephew. I control his account through their main page and my log-in.

Personally, I would rather have $4.95, similar to the other games available to play, and only one account. If I want to have 2 accounts, then I would pay for 2 accounts.:wizard:

I found the higher level I got, the more powerful spells you have to use. Once you get into Marleybone and Mooshu you'll start facing enemies with A LOT of health, around 2000HP (there are even a few in Mooshu that have around 7,000!). You really need to have some hard hitting spells that take 5-7 pips to cast, otherwise you'll never be able to do enough damage and you won't be able to outlast them.

I hardly even load my lower 2-3 pip spells in my deck anymore. It's all about using traps and charms to make your spells more powerful and to build your pips so you can use those big spells. By the time you get your traps, charms and shields up, you'll have alot of pips to cast those big spells. So it's better to have as many 5 or more pip spells as possible, even if not from your own school.

Already had that covered ages ago. ;)

I bought my wand with the extra pip when I turned Level 35 in Mooshu. It looks like a stick again. At least the wand I bought in Marleybone had style! :rotfl2: And I wear stuff that boosts my power pips. I think I'm at 52% now. I have very low mana because of my choices (94), and average around 1700 for health.

But what I meant about the pips on the secondary school is that they still require you waiting round after round to use them. Which is why I have been reluctant to get the Time of Legend 4-pip card, when I do have that gross spewing frog 4-pip card.

I've also found that I have a color combo I like to wear, and consequently I'll dye the clothing drops (and sell the stuff I don't want or can't use).

yes this is what I meant too. You cant use your power pips on your secondary school. I totally want the high pip spells for my primary school, I was curious if there is a point where the secondary school high pip cards are worth it or not, or at that point do you spread your points around to maybe a 3rd school? I am guessing the masters here still think its best to stay in 2 schools only tho huh?

I have already used up my training points in my 2nd school, bought some blades and shields around WC and Krok, and have 2 training points left.

I didnt see how, but thats why I am only level 22 :lmao:I'm level 25 Storm and have been wondering the same thing as you and BriarRosie, Aengus, in regards to Time of Legend. (I had a post (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=26898608&postcount=1254) a page or two back.) I have an even harder time with the thought of spending my point on that, since I probably will not try to complete Marleybone and would just like to finish up Krok if I can before starting a new wizard. I'm thinking of using the point towards a Myth shield instead.

According to a mod on the Wizard 101 forum, players should get enough training points to fill up one secondary school and have some left over, but I don't understand when those extra points are supposed to accumulate. I know I certainly don't have any yet; as it is, the one point I have cannot be used in my secondary school until I reach the next level.

First of all, I am pleased to announce that Kenneth LegendSmith, Master Conjurer, has defeated the Life Oni and, therefore, finished the game (as it currently stands). :yay:

HUGE THANKS to Alura and Cheryl and Madison and Morgan and Padric and Rowan and Shelby and Valdus (yes, this list is alphabetical) and many others for all the help you’ve given along the way. You guys ROCK!!! :cheer2:

But that does not mean I am done with the game! Kenneth DragonHeart (Fire/Life) is currently stationed in the Outpost in Mooshu. Also, last night I welcomed a brand new addition to the Kenneth family: Kenneth WinterShade (Ice/Death), who is just about to venture onto Cyclops Lane for the first time! Please keep an eye out for him. He really needs some DIS friends.

Kenneth LegendSmith was Myth/Balance, and I loved the combination. However, after the game goes live, I don’t know if I’d take Balance as a minor again for the following reasons:

(1) They reduced the accuracy percentage from 90% to 85%. Not a huge deal, but having higher accuracy was one of the main benefits of my Balance spells. When Myth was fizzling, I had Balance to fall back on. As Myth's accuracy has been increased to 80%, there isn't a vast difference now.

(2) The blades, traps, shields and heals that LafChill mentioned are spells you receive if Balance is your primarily school, not secondary. You can, of course, spend training points on some of them once you get to Krokosphinx Island -– but you don't need a minor in Balance to do so.

(3) As time went on and I got more & more power pips, I found myself using my Balance spells less & less. Especially Sandstorm. It’s a 4-pip “damage to all” spell like Humongofrog, but, because of power pips I was able to cast the Frog much more frequently. (Froggy does more damage too, especially against Storm monsters.)

(4) I stopped spending Training Points on Balance spells after getting Spectral Blast, as I could see no pressing need for Donate Power. And, as much as I would like to have Hydra in my deck, I couldn’t see myself frequently casting a secondary school spell with a 6-pip cost. Which leads to the next topic:

I hit level 22 today and after collecting my WOOT FROG, i went and picked up my skeletal pirate card. I started thinking... You experts still swear by the stick to one secondary school?

I have to tell you, I cant see when i would ever use a 5 pip spell that is not relying on my power pips to get me to 5. I have to wonder if spreading your points around to maybe a 3rd school doesnt have its advantages
As I mentioned above, I stopped picking up Balance spells after getting the 4-pip Spectral Blast. I personally thought it was better to enroll in a third school rather than continue to spend the points on Balance spells I felt I would have little inclination (Donate Power) or opportunity (Hydra) to use.

So I started spending Training Points in Death as a third school. Sure, I had to start with the lowly little Dark Pixie, but Ghoul was second and has come in very handy. I’ve also put Banshee and Vampire to good use and just picked up Skeletal Pirate last night. I intend to pick up Feint if I ever get another Training Point, at which time I will probably stop climbing the Death spell tree (as I have no interest in Doom and Gloom).

I’m sure I drive my fighting partners crazy by always changing the cards in my deck before a fight, but having spells from three schools is part of the reason why. (Right now, I have all the Myth spells, Balance spells up to Spectral Blast, and Death up to Skeletal Pirate.) If I’m going up against Death monsters, for example, I’ll take most of the Death spells out of my deck and put in more Balance spells, whereas if we’re attacking Life, I’ll do the reverse.

I'm level 25 Storm and have been wondering the same thing as you and BriarRosie, Aengus, in regards to Time of Legend.
My Conjurer only loads Time of Legend in his deck when he is fighting alongside another Myth wizard. (Hi Alura!) It’s totally worth the 4-pips when it’s boosting all of our combined Myth spells. Plus, since it is part of my major school, it can be cast using only 2 Power Pips.

With Myth as a second school, I’m not sure I’d make much use of it. However, you need to take it to get to Minotaur, which is an awesome spell. (I had to make a similar decision regarding the Balance school’s Power Play. I’ve never used it, but really like Spectral Blast, which came after it in the spell tree.)

yes this is what I meant too.

Aengus, It does pay to have high pip spells for at least one other school. If you end up in Mooshu facing 7500 & 8000 HP enemies, and they happen to be the same school as you, you're in trouble! You need another school that you can hit hard with!:)

I too prefer the idea of having two secondary schools rather than just a single secondary. My balance/death wizard that I mentioned in an earlier post will likely end up with a third school shortly. But it depends on what I have primary/secondary how quickly I move on to an additional school.

For my storm wizard, I initially spent my points on myth, but as difficulty increased I then started spending points in life to be able to keep my fighting companions alive.

Also some of those battlefield aura spells can be a two-edged sword since the spell boosts work for friend and foe, so I've been in a group nearly decimated by bad timed used of a wyldfire battlefield aura spell. So it may or may not be worth your while to spend a point on one of those.

There are lots of spells out there to choose from, which is part of why this game can be so entertaining/addicting. We are all free to choose our own combos so the game is so very different for all of us. Even with two people that used their training points exactly the same, it is highly unlikely that they'd build their deck the same or choose their gear the same... so many possiblities for everyone.

Sometimes even spells that don't seem useful at first are often able to prove quite helpful over time.

I had some training points left over after getting all the fire and life spells. I went over to Storm - mainly because I wanted that shark - and started getting the spells from there.

There have been times when my 6 pip spell from my primary school would fizzle, and so it was nice to have another high pip spell out there to use. For example I have power pips and regular to throw out the heliphant. He fizzles. Next round I get another pip added and have enough to throw out the hydra.

I would just say to get all the spells you can, because you will definitely need them later!

I wasn't sure how Time of Legend worked and thought maybe "to all Myth spells" meant all of the Myth spells in my own deck, for the remainder of the battle. The card definitely does not seem like it would be worth it in my case, since I usually fight solo, I can't use my power pips for it, and I won't be trying to finish Marleybone.

It's nice to hear how everyone is applying their points; I guess there really is more than one way to handle this.Oh, hey everyone! I forgot to tell you...Monday was my birthday! I'm old! Woot, happy birthday! Hope you had fun. :bday:

Happy wizarding! pixiedust:

Way to go Kenneth!

Everyone basically covered the reasons why I want to start using the 3 training points I have on the Death school spells. I had used training points on the Spirit Blade and Spirit Trap cards, but drat, there aren't any triple SHIELD cards available to buy with my points! Double arg!

I tend to get slammed with ice, fire and storm attacks because they KNOW I don't have any defenses against those.

I'll have to mix my cards up a bit into the next area of Mooshu, because I'll be weaker against all those Life monsters.

Kenneth WinterShade is just wrapping up Cyclops Lane, so you’re quite a ways ahead of me.

I’ve got to say I’m loving being back in WC. And I’m also loving my wizard’s Ice/Death combo. While it may not be as flashy as some, it seems to be a very strong & solid combination so far.

I tend to get slammed with ice, fire and storm attacks because they KNOW I don't have any defenses against those.
A word of advice: Amulets. You can buy amulets in Krok that give you either Fire, Ice, or Storm shields. Each amulet adds 3 cards of that particular shield to your regular deck. The amulets are also really cheap, especially considering the benefit they provide. I couldn’t live (literally!) without all three.

Check the quest again to be sure you know WHICH Sokkwi type you need. I notice that in a lot of worlds, there are different "versions" of the same titles. In Mooshu, I had to make sure I defeated the Ronin Mutineers, not the Ronin Warriors in order to advance.

Hi everyone I need some MAJOR help. I have decided to move my main school do myth. (I decided to move to myth because in ICE i find the spells do a lot less damage than the other schools it seems they are mainly focused on having a lot of health so they can survive with there lower damage spells) to do this I started a new character, Joshua MythCaster I am a level 6 I am currently doing TA (Trinton Avenue) FCA (Firecat Alley) and CB (Cyclops Boulevard) I could really use some help getting these done. I am not looking to get a wizard city staff i would just like to go to Krokotopia and get back to where I left off. I was a level 26 Ice Wizard (2 levels were earned in Moo Shu). I was just starting off the Tomb Of Storm.

I would greatly appreciate to help get back up to Krokotopia. I think I will just need maybe 3 people. Also can anyone give me any tips on getting at least 1,000 health by Krokotopia. I will appreciate ANY act of helping, even if you only help me accomplish one quest I really will be grateful. Please PM me if you are willing to help me. We can set up a time and date to meet up and add each other to our friend list.

Where in Krok do you pick them up? The regular Amulet Shop?

Another question. Aren't Amulets like clothing, wands, hats, etc.
So you can only wear one at once. So you would have to pick
WHICH group of 3 shields to took into a fight, right?:surfweb:

WHICH group of 3 shields to took into a fight, right?:surfweb:Yes, it is the regular Amulet shop. They are not three different shields in one card, though. Only Fire, Ice, or Storm, depending on which amulet you buy. It adds three cards to your deck, next to your wand spells. If you add whatever other shield spells you need to your main deck, you can have very nice protection.

Yep. :thumbsup2

But it only takes a couple seconds to change amulets. If I know what type of monster I'm about to face, I'll swap to that amulet. Even in Boss fights, there is usually time to change the amulet before engaging in combat.

If you're facing two different kinds of elemental monsters (say, a Fire Boss with an Ice minion), you're going to have to make a choice. I usually shield against the Boss' type, as I figure it will be stronger and last longer in the battle.

My Storm Shield amulet is my "default" (i.e. the one I wear most of the time). If I accidentally stumble into combat or rush to a friend before knowing what I'm fighting, I'd rather have protection against the worst spells I might face (which tend to be Storm spells, even if the monster itself isn't Storm).

You have to beat the 3 other 'girls' in the area. After their individual fight there is a mental challenge which will unlock 1 of the locks on the door. You will see the verbiage that a lock was unlocked and hear the sound as well. You can beat them in any order, but you have to do them all as one 'instance' and not leave or it resets.

Well, last night I leveled up to 40. And with the help of Padric/DesertCat, I was able to get that last oyster and the last part of my Moolinda Wu school quest done.

So I picked up a lovely new Dryad health spell, and with the 5...yes FIVE training points, I cleaned out the Death school cards through Vampire. With the Spirit Blades and Traps, I can use any combination of spells in my roster to boost strength.

So now I'm a Life/Myth/Death wizard. :)

I haven't tried using a combo of spells yet, so I'll have to see how it will work for me.

Yeah. After a bit of frustration, I figured out that the sequences of quests are wacked at times. I was told to rescue Woo Ping, which I did. But I finally figured out that once Auichi's hideout appeared on the map (this time around), I went to defeat him again, and I can continue.

There's a lot of bad information going around regarding the location of this very well hidden quest. (They may have moved it in some of the updates).

Anyway, here's the story as of this writing. It is a standard looking warehouse building at the end of a short alley. You will recognize it only because it has a series of blue-lit windows on the outside. No special sequence at the door, just walk up to it.

It's not labeled on any map. But here's how you find it on the map. Unless this thing has moved, "in the N.E. section of the map" is a bad tip.
If you call up the Chelsea map and think if it as a clock face, it's at
about 5:30 or 6:00. Regarding this building at the end of an alley,
you see red backing on the building on the map.

Watch out two 1000 point bad guys inside!

You get to the Chelsea Clock Tower by navigating the first several squares of Gearheads you find. That scientist dog is standing nearby (the one who wants parts from the Gearheads).

If this is the first time you've been there, you won't be able to go in. IIIRC, to complete the quest, you just have to walk up right up to the door.

Note: When (many quests later) you can go in, you should know that this is one of the few instances that will not let your friends teleport to you once you are inside. So if they don't go in with you, you're on your own.

i dropped by and checked out the wizard duel event today, and as promised earlier, i'm reporting on what went on.

participants were greeted at the door by a staff member wearing a black witch's hat and an extremely cool black bowling shirt embroidered with the wizard 101 logo. most of the kingsisle staff were wearing these, i hope it becomes available for purchase for the general public!

guests recieved a ticket good for one round of the wizard dueling. i also picked up a paper flyer version of the ad for this event, as seen in the W101 forum announcement....and a cool flyer advertising the whole beta test in general, which is in the shape of a folded yellow parchment and sealed with a sticker resembling a wax seal. i will try to post scans of this at a later date.

there was a several-feet long graphic of the ravenwood staff, mounted on foamcore board and with the faces cut out so kids could get their picture taken behind it, though i never saw anyone actually doing that. oh and i would say the atendees were 80-90% grade school age kids and their parents. there were a few other people in the store, but it was hard to tell if they were there for the event or just regular customers.

there was a table with a few laptops set up and special high-level accounts set up for people to play in. i never got a chance, but i watched for a bit and got to see moo shu for the first time-- can't wait to get there!!!

the wizard dueling was also done on special accounts set up for the event- players got to use level 50 wizards with all spells! groups of 4 competed at once, and their game was projected on the wall for those waiting in line to watch. the prizes were printouts of concept art including the firecat and unicorn, signed by staff artists.

the wizard caricatures was also a popular table with a long line; i am assuming the guy who was drawing them is the same one responsible for the fun stick-figure type graphics on the world maps, since the signs on his table were covered in similar drawings.

another fun thing i learned about is the card game in development in conjunction with the release of W101! today they just had prototype mockup decks that appeared to be color xeroxes. but from the looks of it, you will be able to play as the ravenwood staff members. and pips are represented by physical tokens: for this event, they used small velvet bags containing different colored glass beads- like the ones people use in fish bowls or glass vases. these will be neat to collect when they come out, even if you're not a card gamer!

i talked briefly to one of the developers about a few things. he said the "report bug" button should be back on the next build, but in a different location. in the menu, i am assuming. i also asked if the instances will be any easier after release, and he said probably!! and that they are still working on balancing the game.

well that's all i can think of for now. if i remember anything else later on, i'll be sure to add it. hope this was useful for anyone who wanted to attend but couldn't make it!

PS. i'm austin lotusfist, lv23 death wizard, if anyone wants to help me defeat grubb....:rolleyes1

i dropped by and checked out the wizard duel event today, and as promised earlier, i'm reporting on what went on.

participants were greeted at the door by a staff member wearing a black witch's hat and an extremely cool black bowling shirt embroidered with the wizard 101 logo. most of the kingsisle staff were wearing these, i hope it becomes available for purchase for the general public!

guests recieved a ticket good for one round of the wizard dueling. i also picked up a paper flyer version of the ad for this event, as seen in the W101 forum announcement....and a cool flyer advertising the whole beta test in general, which is in the shape of a folded yellow parchment and sealed with a sticker resembling a wax seal. i will try to post scans of this at a later date.

there was a several-feet long graphic of the ravenwood staff, mounted on foamcore board and with the faces cut out so kids could get their picture taken behind it, though i never saw anyone actually doing that. oh and i would say the atendees were 80-90% grade school age kids and their parents. there were a few other people in the store, but it was hard to tell if they were there for the event or just regular customers.

there was a table with a few laptops set up and special high-level accounts set up for people to play in. i never got a chance, but i watched for a bit and got to see moo shu for the first time-- can't wait to get there!!!

DOH! Silly me...I was all over it....just didn't get close enough to the door to complete the quest.

Turn right when you enter the Chamber and go to the instance room at the end of the hall. Even though it does not show a boss on the map, you can bet that the occupants of the room are not going to let you just waltz in and take the book.

Pick me, pick me! I just got Level 42, and I love my new Sanctuary spell. It boosts all health spells by 50%, and my life spells also pack a punch against those death creatures, including Grubb himself.

I'd also help you with Marleybone, if only to put off some of the Mooshu stuff for a while. :) I found that a lot of Marleybone was pretty tough to handle. Gearheads LOVE to drag me into a battle! :rotfl2: I'm willing to help.

Are the developers finished with Mooshu? Before the update I was at a stand still because I had nothing to do there. Everything I could do was done and couldn't get into a few places. Then , I came back last week from a trip to MA for my DS 18th Birthday and discovered the update. Glad I could share the "wonderful" rainy Florida weather with all of you Bostonians. I was able to do some and now I'm suck again with nothing to do. Any ideas? :confused3 I really love playing this game, but it's frustrating when there's nothing to do. Yes, I know it is in Beta so I know there's more to come.

You can 'complete' Mooshu now. It sends you back to the Headmaster to open Dragonspiel, but that land isn't open. You also see that the connection hinted about between the Myth Teacher (boohiss) and Malistare is more than just conjecture.

So enjoy Mooshu! It really is a great land, especially after Marleybone (by far my least favorite of the lands).

Does anyone know about a clothing quest in Krok or Marleybone? Someone mentioned it on the Wizard school forum.Tink, I've been wracking my brains trying to think what this might be. I'm assuming the poster meant that there was a clothing item received as a reward for this "hidden" quest.

The only quest that stands out in my mind is one in the Krokosphinx that I could have easily missed, as it was not sequential with any of the main quests there. I believe I got it from the Mander character wearing the fez, in either the Hall of Champions (Kami?) or the Grand Arena (Ako?), and it seemed unusual because I thought I'd completely finished with that character earlier. I could be totally off base, but just thought I'd mention it.

oh yeah, not that it's important, but i forgot to mention: at the wizard duel, the refreshments they were talking about consisted of a ginormous (2x3 feet prolly) chocolate chip cookie that had the W101 logo in frosting on it :wizard:

they also said they were working on the 5th world, Dragonspire, so i assume all the pervious worlds will be fixed by the time it's added?? i hope

Shortly before I had to get off earlier, I received a call for help from someone on my list. After teleporting to him and assisting with the battle, I realized we were in Sunken City. He wanted additional help, and I had to explain that this particular area involved a time commitment on the part of any players helping, and that I was so sorry I could not stay.

This is just not fair for players who don't have the luxury of a board like this to arrange team efforts. Developers, are you listening?

They did however lower the tower levels so that Its about four or five floors, this sped things up quickly when I helped my brother. We did it in about 35 minutes. I would say the average now is 30 - 60 minutes depending on the player.

I have been thinking about this, also. Do you think it would be easiest to just include a friend's location when you expand their profile?

I liked the idea someone had about letting us know some sort of approximate time we should allow for instanced areas. Maybe just an "x"-star rating, or something? Although, with the exception of the forever-long jaunt into the Tomb of the Beguiler, WITH 3 other people, I have never really spent more than about an hour anywhere instanced, even alone. Yet.

I just did it alone earlier today in very close to an hour (Level 30 Myth). The guy with the secret knock is the guy right before the end guy.

My advice is to be sure you have all the other quests with the street sweepers, so you don't have to go back, and for goodness sake, dont forget about the little cat before you leave!

If you see me on (Tabitha Ravenheart), dont hesitate to ask for help!

Thanks to Padric "Ice" again! And the ever-present Marcus Spellblade, my cohort in monster fights, it seems. With their help, and a relatively new friend, Melissa Jade(something), she and I have finished saving the Emperor.

Padric suggested I don't visit Professor Ambrose for the Dragonspire key until the next update, though. And thanks to him and his friend, Jack Frost (great name!), I earned the blade/wand for Life wizards from defeating the "Defiler" guy in Village of Sorrows. Over and over and over again. Whew.

We are getting to the end of beta now, and I am going on vacation so it's kind of ended for me until the Launch. Decided to take some space here to talk a few issues as we get ready for the real deal.

FORCED TEAM PLAY & DIS

Remember when you first went to Marleybone and couldn't belive how hard it was compared to Krok? Then you went to Chelsea from Hyde Park and couldn't believe that either. Last night Amber Jadesong and I started going through Kensington Station. Same feeling. Compared to Kensington - Hyde, Chelsea and Ironworks seem easy (now). But on to my question.

Let me say that with a 8,500 point monster team you can not get through Kensington by yourself. Amber and I did get through the first two monsters (and then quit because of time). But we had to tag team it back to Regent to potion up after dying. DO YOU AGREE THAT YOU CAN NOT DO THIS QUEST ALONE? And if so, we are need the DIS board to keep going so that
we can keep scheduling quest parties and making friends.

More on the DIS board in my next message.

When I got to kensington I died too many times to count a slow death as I had not defense against the life guys and each took 88 health points off time.
I did go and buy health shields and finally beat them and gave up.

First and foremost let me extend a big thank you to whoever set up this help forum (Diva?). To my knowledge it is the only forum except Wizard 101 which is rather impersonal and not particularly helpful. With that gratitude extended let me ask a few questions about DIS hardware.

Is it possible to have sub-sections? It is difficult to find information on message 524 when you are at 900 now. It appears to be one long string.

It would helpful to organize the board on the basis of, say,

REALMS (Bring tips together by realm)
QUEST HELP (Maybe further grouping by tough quests)
MISSION SCHEDULING (When can we meet to go in together)
FRIEND POSTING (Who's who. Friends meetings, etc.)

Whatever. Someone can do that better than me. Question: In the DIS format is it possible to organize things a bit more? Just asking.

Yes, we can do that, anyone is free to create a thread that they feel will help others in the game. What you suggest is great. :goodvibes

I am actually going to start a BUG thread. I started a quest that cannot be complete because there is a bug. I find their forum a little difficult to read.

Last night Amber Jadesong and I started going through Kensington Station.

Kensington Station has/had the bug. Upon beating the big boss, several times, the gate never opened to continue. Not sure if that has changed but I am still suffering the sting from wasting time there the other day.

Also, we need to keep in mind a suggestion thread for them to improve the game. I know alot of people had some awesome suggestions, we can post them here and then advise back when they have used our suggestions. :)

Dreamytime

Ok for the Bug in Big Ben East and West....
Remember at the end of East you have to speak to Gus and West you have to speak to Emily (I think)...usually if 1 person speaks the other person gets the ? and the quest goes on. Well, the bug is that the other person will get the ?, and it will show that the counterweights have been pulled, BUT it doesn't forward the original "Talk to Gus" or "Talk to Emily" quest line.

(Fought East 2x to find this out Oo)

But, if you will "Go to Friend" your ? above the "talk to person's" head will show up to speak to Gus or Emily so that your quest line will go forward. Just double check your quest homework to make sure that your Gus or Emily quest has moved forward to beat the big guy at the end.

Also...Big Ben is a LOT easier now. Has anyone started Kensington to see if it is easier as well?

Also it could be easier because my nephew is Myth/Life and this avatar I have this time around is Life/Balance. The 2 work together so well.

I am myth/death belle, I find myself barely using death for anything unless I am in real trouble with a big myth resisting boss. I would love to try balance or life now as my secondary, and if we get wiped I will definitely go for one of those combos I think. One thing I am sure of is I am very happy with the myth as primary.

MISSION SCHEDULING (When can we meet to go in together)
FRIEND POSTING (Who's who. Friends meetings, etc.)

Whatever. Someone can do that better than me. Question: In the DIS format is it possible to organize things a bit more? Just asking.

I know dis already responded but I did want to reaffirm that there really are no forum restrictions to how many threads there can be. When we converted from vmk to our new format I think people just got into a comfort zone of sitting in the one thread.

We will merge threads if topics really start to become too redundant but by all means spread out. Thats what were hoping for. Try to keep Wizard in the title as eventually more games will also get in the spotlight, or even just Wiz:, you get the idea I am sure :thumbsup2.

Well I think big ben took us over 2.5 hours to do ROFL. That is a big time committment.
I think we started at 7:50 and finished at 10:28 yup and I have done it twice so far since different members of our team got there at different points. And have to do it once again when hubby gets there since he has done it 2 already for others :)

See now, this bothers me. They should allow us to pause in an instance or not have a committment that takes that long. Gosh, some of us have to make dinner or other real life issues that they need to take care of. ;)

If the game is set for the 8-12 year olds, think they should re-think the length of instance battles or allow a pause of some type. jmo

Yes I know it has been mentioned many times over at wizard forums that is a big time committment and for 8-12 year olds most parents do not want them sitting at a computer for 3 hours and definatley would not be able to even attempt this on a school night. I felt bad for a kid (he only had game chat) and got within 4 fights to finish in big ben and had to leave. I figure it was bedtime as he said I have 5 more minutes.

I know there are breaks to talk to characters but have not tested to see if you can pause game and start again.

And you figure the grub run takes almost 2 hours too unless if you do not get pulled into fights. But it is not needed to continue on. Unlike big Ben it is.

There is actually a method for 'parking' your character if you need to that is described on another forum. It can be helpful if you are in an instance and have an interruption that might lead to your character being disconnected due to inactivity... that seems like the main case when you might need to use it. I know I've had times when the doorbell or phone rang, etc. Of course this won't help if you truly disconnected for some other reason.

You're welcome! :) I know that we can create threads for each topic, but the DIS can't break down our existing thread into the various topics. It would be great though, wouldn't it? LOL! I'll give some thought and see if i can come up with a helpfual combo of threads to make getting and giving help easier.:thumbsup2

Who knew it would get this big? When I started this, there were about 10 DISers playing Wizards!! Now look at us! Which reminds me, the titles thread is due for an update! ............

Well, as you probably know, you can get Myth level 5 Ninja pig treasure cards for free in the Wizard City library. I took advantage of it and clicked over a period of a week to get 450 of them ... plus bought treasure cards from helping in Big Ben multiple times. I know I know greedy. I know.

And there is where my character stands now ... in the library. I had reached an unforeseen limit. After many emails with support staff, I learned that they cannot go into my backpack and remove the excess ... and that there is a patch forthcoming that will help repair this problem. When? They don't know. They said in the meantime maybe I would like to start another character. I am at level 38.

I only have 512 ram but plenty of empty space on computer.

My question is if someone had more ram ... a better computer ... could they go into my backpack to remove the excess? What do you think?

I didn't think that the game was so memory consuming. I know I am to blame but I would like to be able to keep playing.

---------

Well, there is still no way for me to access my character Tara Windwalker. I spent money on a diagnostics/utilities program, cyber cafe time, erased alot of files, and have additional ram ordered .... and then I rec'd the message that it had nothing to do with my computer. It is a developer's problem. Mr. Lincoln said that there were lots of others like me who had too many possessions (cards plus whatever). So, I had to start over.

I am now Tara Thunder, level 19, this time I am Myth with Life minor.

It just isn't as fun this time around. I certainly am not helping as much people as I did before. I have come to the realization that, for me, most of the fun was in helping others and the comradery in a battle. There was a bond that developed over weeks of playing together.

Tara Windwalker is now Tara Thunder, Myth Add me to your friends list.

I would have to guess the limitation you reached is not a result of anything you can resolve on your computer or a friends computer. I would have to assume if they understand there is a limit and a patch forthcoming that its a coded change that has to take place within the game.

Sorry to see this happened to you, hope that patch comes out soon so you can free your wizard.

Ok another question. I am so torn on when they do they wipe what character I like. I do like my ice but find I use more of life spells except for fire enemies then ice baby.

OK So fire and ice are opposite
Death and Life are opposite
Is Myth opposite of Storm.

What I am trying to figure out is you get a boost if you hit an enemy opposite to you in magic.

Thanks

Aww, I wish I saw the Grubb run requests earlier. I had to do a Grubb run again to continue a quest to get the Dryad life spell.

One big thing about Grubb: When you are fighting Paulson or Grubb, get OUT of the duelling circle immediately, or you get pulled back into another fight. Two people Padric and I helped last night each got caught.

I found it went faster when Padric got caught in a fight that I would go on to the next area, where I would get caught in the next fight. That way, we were able to move on quicker.

One person goes off to open a gate and the rest of the party jumps over. Worked really well.

August 21st 2008 the game service will undergo maintenance starting at 7 AM Central Standard Time. We expect this maintenance to last approximately five hours but it may not take that long, so check back here for updates.
During this time, your game may not be available.

Do you think this trial of Crowns will be a way for them to bring money in later? (Like in Neopets and Gaia where you can buy the cards from Target to use towards purchasing things within the game.)

Sad about the Ninja Pigs... I had stocked up on my new character, but only had a couple left on my main character.

I'm very glad about the warning on the bank and back pack. I didn't realize my bank was full and wound up losing quite a few items.

Is that saying that my pet pixie will no longer heal me? I always use that pet specifically for the add'l healing card.

Speaking of pets... Other than in the Shopping District of Wizard City and Krokosphynx, where else can you buy a pet? I have plenty of pets on my main character, but only one with my second character and it doesn't have any spell cards attached to it.

Thanks,
Debbi

From the online bits I've read it seems that they plan to have a two-part pay system when they release - monthly fee membership as well as a microtransaction store. Most likely the crowns will be tied to the microtransaction system at the very least, but maybe to both. Although nothing official has been announced yet by Kingsisle.

I'm not sure if the other pets for sale have cards attached or not, but I have a couple of characters that keep getting pet drops from battle (my growing Baby Abbey collection :lmao: ). But the other pet shop locations I know of are the secret shop in Krokotopia and the shop in Mooshu.

If you check the forums, there was an interview with the creator and he said the game will have a free basic element to play with a subscription for more advanced play AND a shop for special features. This will all be released after launch (probably in stages) - he pointed out that they are trying to keep the playing field fairly even so you can't just buy your way to advancement.

They decimated the gold card shop options in the update today... you can only get a fraction of what you could get yesterday. I also hear that a lot of people are having trouble moving between worlds or to friends right now, although I haven't run into it myself. Although Zeke's gear looks amazing, at least when I checked in Mooshu... it seems that we aren't actually given any crowns to actually work with.

But I'm loving the new chat box, it even has a history. :)

And now if you click on a friend, you can find out more than just what they have equipped... there are two windows now - equipment and traits, so it lists their level, health, mana and boosts.

Servers going down for a quick update.

Well, I feel a little better about choosing Blinding Light to spend my next point on instead of Time of Legend, which would have been the next regular spell for my secondary school. With the change, only primary Myth wizards can get Blinding Light now. (Although I'm not sure how much use this spell is unless you're fighting with someone else; maybe I'm not completely understanding how it works?)

Glad I got those Ninja Pigs while I could! I was surprised they removed them completely though; I thought they would simply add a price.

Wow all these updates sound so cool.

I am still at work and the TS Fay is just crossing over the state just to the north of me. It is raining and very windy here. We are getting the southern part of the feeder bands. Looks like it will be another all night rain and wind event for me.

My DH tells me that the power has gone off and on about 15 times this afternoon at home. This probably means no computer for me when I get home.:sad2:

Gosh, the wind just blew open the front door at work, then slammed it, that was scary :scared1:

Ok I hope I can get online later tonight and hope to see you all in the game soon!

I was explaining to AZCat last night how much I enjoy playing Wizard 101 and how much it has improved. With the addition of these "KingsIsle crowns" I don't think that I will enjoy the game as much. What do you guys think about them?

Psh, I dont think they are an addition as much as they are a subtraction. I went to Prospector Zeke, but he told me I owed him 1 crown already!

But seriously, I think I like the game better when you have to save up or wait for really great items to drop. I would be especially mad if I paid for a subscription, then had to pay extra for stuff, kwim?

I would be especially mad if I paid for a subscription, then had to pay extra for stuff, kwim?I'm guessing that the power to buy special items using in-game currency would be included in a paid subscription. This actually sounds like a happy medium for non-subscribers; they can still buy an occasional item even if they don't want to pay a monthly fee.

Hello all! I normally don't ask for help, but this time I am going to!

For those that have completed MuShu, I need some assitance. I can't seem to finish the world. I have written and let them know that I can't finish the quest in Kishibe Village. I have rescued two Spirits, but it won't let me in to finish the third spirit. Do I need to finish this before I can move on? Which direction do I need to go in order to move on. I have done the Cave of Solitude and have been stuck in Kishibe for a week because it will not let me in the room.

TIA!

Thought I'd post this over here since many don't venture over to the other board much... Updates are being made to Wizard101!
There's lots of ground to cover so let's get started!

Crowns
Please Help Us Spend Money!
We have added a new type of currency called KingsIsle Crowns to your account, so you can purchase special items in the game. Prospector Zeke is the shop keeper for these special items. You can check out Zeke’s shop in any world, and see what you can buy! This is just a test, so KingsIsle Crowns may not be available long. Go spend them now!Apparently the portion of the update post announcing the introduction of crowns and inviting players to try it out has been removed. The wording made it sound as if crowns were going to be placed in players' accounts to use for a limited time. I'm guessing a problem must have come up.

If it's that quest where you have to free that kidnap victim goat and speak to him in the shrine, you have to fight Auichi (or whatever his name is)a SECOND TIME, then return to light the shrine and talk to the goat. I was stuck until I fought the same boss again. Then it allowed me to continue.

We can hope that enough yelling over on the official wizard forum will create a quick fix for this problem.

Has anyone tried the new friend code system? Maybe it is working but broke the old system. I'm secretly hoping that the code system will link all our wizards with all of our friends' wizards (as I had suggested earlier in beta), but I'm doubting that is the case.

It doesn't work. But a GREAT idea!! My personal hope, with the addition of the 'true friend' thing, is that we can give each other the codes, via PM here and not have to FIND anyone ever again for 'adding' to our friend's list as our WizDis group is getting to large for any area of WC to contain us. :)

What is annoying is that one friend kept messaging "help!" and I couldn't respond nor go to help him. -_-
Then he found me and was a bit peeved at me. (Who can blame him as I was blithely running around getting crates of stolen weapons...) When I added him, he still didn't show up.

I do like the messages and the history. That rocks. :D

Octopie, You didn't mention a realm. I can't come right now, but possibly others can. But as it still doesn't work even when you do add someone, I feel that this might be wasted time, but hopefully not. Possibly they will figure it out and let us see our peeps again.

I LOVE this idea! I hope this is how the code will work. It would be far easier for anyone here to add other players this way, as I rarely make the meets and from the sounds of them, my pc would be frozen anyway.
Just want to add...has anyone obtained a code yet? I have two codes and cannot tell 'I' from '1' or '0' from 'O'. ~sigh~

Okay...personally I don't think anyone should feel peeved at anyone else for not responding to a call for help. There are MANY situations where a response isn't possible, namely rest room breaks, outside interferences, locked in a fast and furious battle, checking your backpack...etc. The new chat log helps, but even with that it may be possible to miss that request or feel too much time has passed to be of any help.

I do like the messages and the history. That rocks. :D

I would give them some time to work on the bugs, too. You don't want to start a lengthy instanced run only to be stuck midway through because of a glitch in the 'jump to friend' button.

Okay, Peeps. Before you go gathering codes to pm to your real life friends, if you don't already have that friend on your list within the game, you can't enter the code. Here is a full description of just how the true-friend codes work, from the Wizard 101 support email I just received:

Hi there!

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we've been having a bit of trouble with the friends list so don't be too surprised if the functionality is a bit off. To use the True Friend feature, just click your friend in your friends list, then click Friend Code. It will open a window giving you a button and a text input field. If your friend gave you a code, enter it into the field. Otherwise, you can press the button to obtain a code to give to your friend.

The purpose of this is to allow accounts that can't otherwise chat openly to communicate with type-able chat with real life friends. If you both already have Dictionary Chat enabled, I don't think it will do much, though please feel free to test it out and prove me wrong! Let me know if you find anything particularly interesting!

Mr. Lincoln

I love the new Crown Cards.. They are better than anything else I had before!

For those of you who were asking. I think each Zeke has different items available to purchase for crown cards. However, I think they are based on the level you are in. For example, Marleybone has 25+ level spells and Krak has 15+ level spells. So, go to the highest world you have to pick up the spells. They are available for hats, shoes and robes.

I was hoping to get a better wand, but oh well. :)

How fun!

(I thought that gave it a humorous twist, and pictured it as being from weird monsters in the game.) If the word "blood" had been as issue you'd think they would have changed it at the time, but they did not. I think they would have left it alone if it had not been for that poll.

If you stand very close to the door where you enter the room, you'll see three tall "monuments" that have pictures on them (they disappear when you move into the room, but will reappear when you move back to the door - if you get too close to the door you'll end up outside, if so, just re-enter). I believe (if I remember correctly lol), the room you need to find the chest in is the room right behind Ako.

The chest is the room adjacent to the Arena Master's Arena....same side of the area as Ako. The last battle, which you get approval for after getting the chest, is behind Ako.:wizard:

Remember what those pictures are, then turn the obelisks on with the same pictures (I did them in order from left to right, but they may not need to be in any order).

They are in order of their appearance.
Left and right one as shown on the panels, then you turn on the middle panel's corresponding obelisk.

I have never really had a problem with lag at all until today. Even changing realms did not seem to help.

I spent all my crown money on one of my secondary wizards and then discovered that I was broke when I tried to buy things for my primary. :sad2:

Please give us more money! :worship:

I was running through Newgate Prison and all of a sudden things went wonky. All enemies disappeared, all people to talk to disappeared. It was weird. Finally I decided to change realms and I was in Wu which was weird because I normally play Flamea. When I switched realms everything went back to normal. Very odd.

As to the Crown Money. I didn't even think to put the stuff on secondary wizards. :( Oh well, until the wipe I'm really only playing with one anyway.

I'm hoping that maybe if we level up we get more crowns, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. :)

I was wondering what kinds of minions each school gets.

Storm gets a Water Elemental that really does nothing other than taking the heat off of you. I'm getting used to him now though. He gets 700 points and puts up shield and then taunts enemies.

I was considering becoming a Life Major (I've been a life minor) but if there isn't a really helpful minion, then I might as well just hang in with it as my minor.

I like the minions for the Myth school (my dad's school). Those guys actually attack and there are several.

Thoughts on minions anyone?
