Hi, I'm ice and I am level 17 now. My ice spells include
Taunt, Ice Trap, Snow Shield, Tower Shield, Frost Beetle, Snow Serpent and Evil Snowman.

I have gotten when I leveled up mostly balance.
Weakness, Scarab, Scorpian, and Locust Swarm.

I also have the Pixie (health) card.

I am level 18. I am still not sure what to do when we have to start over. Part of me wants to go from the beggining and part of me just wants to start in krok. Do you think they will fix the bug that will let us stay on the sidewalk in sunken city without being drawn into battle? It would be worth jumping to krok just not to deal with sunken city again.

You know, I understand why the names thing is the way it is, but its driving me crazy!! I never know who I am playing with :rotfl: (I know print the list aengus @_@) but we are all about to start over so that list is going to change drastically

I plan on having 2 characters jump ahead after the reset, get their pet, and stop.

Then I will take a character from the beginning up.

I will also not be a pyro this time. Just looking to be a little different and pyro seems to be the most common choice.

I had a feeling the wipe would happen today, so I said "Good-bye" to both my little wizards last night. It was sad, but at least in this case, I know they will live again. :wizard:

FYI, the list of updates posted on the site forum is massive. This is no simple patch they are doing, which makes the need to wipe more understandable.

I wondered about the high spells in other schools too - here is an easy way to find out - just trot around to each school and hit "train" - the list of spells will come up, witht he level you need. That way you can see which school you might be interested in.

Yes, Peri. But there are also class-specific cards. For example, only people who are in the Life school can get the Unicorn and Nature's Wrath cards.

And I finally made it through Sunken City last night!! Just in time for the character wipe :headache:

It is back up, and after you create your character and run the tutorial you can get your free pet outside the professor tower in the common area, You can get as many as you want it seems. I got 8, not sure if it is a bug or not but you might want to go snag them up in case they decide to make it one per player.

Also I cant find where to do the quest to just jump to the 2nd world, if anyone figures it out please let us Know!

Fiona StarDust is back and up to her latest level. I, too took advantage of the free pets and have quite a few! LOL I wanted those treasure cards! haha
To level up, near as I can tell, you see Mr. Advancer by the Dragon Mouth's Cave in Golem Court. I don't remember there being a quest, although I could be mistaken, but you level up all at once! It's pretty cool, really. I have, for now:

4 training points
1303 coins
more magic spells than previously

All of my school's protective clothing is in my backpack, along with an advanced wand, although I'm not entirely sure it's the equivalent to what I had previously. I lost all of the money earned from games and battles, I believe they gave us just the coins you would earn from doing the quests.
So, see Mr. Advancer and check your backpacks!

For the record, I did create another avatar to start from the tutorial level, just to see what's been changed as far as quests go.

The only quest I had to complete was the school's quest. I am school of Fire, so that meant talking to Bernie the tree and defeating the Fire Crow in the Fire Tower. I have been to Krokotopia, so I'm guessing that was the quest that needed to be done to get there. I am at level 14, instead of the level 17 I was at before, so not too far back.

However, they only gave us 3 one-hour time slots today and tomorrow, in which we can make the jump! I'missed it toay because they hadn't specified time zone.:headache:

I did not receive an email with instructions for jumping ahead, I simply logged on, created my avatar and found the NPC (Mr. Advancer) who levelled me up to level 14 Pyromancer. Easy peasy!
Now, my problem currently is that I forgot how to open the gate to Colossus Blvd. It's the only area I can't access, but I don't remember which quest opened that and I've searched through these pages without seeing what was posted before. Does anyone remember which quest that was and where I would go to start it? I really love that snow...

I had six characters before the wipe (I was playing around to see who got what magic...) so I just went ahead and created them all again. :rotfl: My original and main character (Autumn DayBreaker) did not take the leap 'cause I figured she ought to earn it. I *did* allow one boy and on girl wizard to visit Mr Advancer, but they are so far ahead of where I was that I'm not sure I will play them... I did gather a fairly nice menagerie though. ;)

I am off to WDW for a week for my Birthday/4th of July celebration with qruthie. We will be on the 11th floor of the Contemporary with a Magic Kingdom view. (yeah I am still mad at Disney, but this trip was planned way before they announced vmk was going to close)

I hope that the laptop I got from work will load the wizards game! If I can't get the game to load I will see you all in a week!

It's not an official "minor". As you get training points, it's a good idea to put them all into a second school rather than try to spread them over several. This way you build a second school with its powerful cards. For example, I'm a storm wizard but I've put my training points in Fire so, while I'm not as powerful in that school, it's still an excellent backup to the primary school.

Yes, you can go back and forth via Bartleby, the Grandfather Tree. This assumes you have completed the Wizard City quests first though either through play or through the beta gift the game developers provided after wiping all of our first characters.

Golem minions are a new addition that can be summoned by Myth Wizards. They are part of the regular spell deck and cost 0 pips.

Since Myth Wizards already had a Troll at their beck and call, they are now really well supplied with minions. :wizard:

If he comes back and you want lots of pets - pets can be banked and there are up to 100 total spaces in your bank.

Noticed a major change last evening on Cyclops Way to the way they handle boss battles there.

I had trouble with Eyus Maximus and asked Padric (AZCat) to help me. We both entered the tower at the same time and there were 4 enemies to fight there (when I entered by myself earlier there were only 2). The same thing happened with General Akilles.

I would suggest 3 hints to help with this:
- Since there can not be more than 4 enemies, ask 2 or 3 other players to help you out and make sure to be friends with at least 1 of them (best to all be "friends").
- Be sure all players potion flasks are full. Since the enemies seem to predominantly target the first person to enter the battle that person could die and using the potion to recharge quickly and then getting back in the battle might mean a win.
- I have not tested this, but entering the tower alone and having your friends come to you might give you the lowest number of enemies to fight.

Have to admit I am liking playing from scratch. Yes, it is a bit harder than last time, but it has been well worth it in credits and the outfits that you do not get by 'jumping up' to Krok.

I has taken me 2 days to get to level 15, which isn't bad as I am not playing that much. Only thing left in Wizard world is Grubb which I couldn't beat until I was level 20 last time anyway (so-oooooo not rushing that quest along...).

I probably pass by you Dis ppl all the time, but don't know your titles. If you see me "Shelby", please let me know. Love to have some dis'ers on my list.

congrats! I have never managed to get on the high score list of any of them.

that would make a great guide, but they dont want us posting pictures yet so I guess you have to learn to recognize the magic symbols, then you can tell what the clothing will help you with.

Off the top of my head, here are some of the more common symbols.

+number MAX with a red crystal ball -- You will increase the maximum amount of health you can carry by that amount
+number MAX with a blue crystal ball -- You will increase the maximum amount of mana [magic energy] you can carry by that amount
+number (for example:+3) with a Magic symbol and a Fist -- If you cast that particular type of magic spell, you will inflict that many extra points of damage on your opponent.
+percentage (for example:+2%) with a Magic symbol and a Shield -- If you are attacked with that particular type of magic spell, you will resist a percent of the damage.
+percentage with a Magic symbol and a Target -- The chance of successfully casting a particular type of magic spell has been increased by that percent.

Notes: Some clothing/items do multiple things (for example: add health plus shield from damage). Some can only be used once you reach a certain level and/or belong to a specific school. Also, the benefits gained by the different items is cumulative; if, for example, your hat increases your maximum health by 20 and your robe boosts it by 30, you will see an overall increase of 50.

Generally, I tend to equip myself with clothing/items that increase my health/mana. If they also provide a shield, boost the damage I inflict, or increase my accuracy, that’s even better. But I rarely opt to wear something that doesn’t have a red and/or blue crystal ball if I can help it.

I'm Myth/Life and it can a bit challenging but I like it. They added a Cyclops Minion for Myth so it's great for the Boss battles. I loved my Troll, which you still get, but the Cyclops can cast Sun Bird and Storm Shark!:thumbsup2

Noticed a major change last evening on Cyclops Way to the way they handle boss battles there...
Another major change detailed in the last paragraph of this post. This one could be for the better (I think)
...I had trouble with Eyus Maximus and asked Padric (AZCat) to help me. We both entered the tower at the same time and there were 4 enemies to fight there...
...I would suggest 3 hints to help with this:...
- Since there can not be more than 4 enemies, ask 2 or 3 other players to help you out and make sure to be friends with at least 1 of them (best to all be "friends").
- Be sure all players potion flasks are full. Since the enemies seem to predominantly target the first person to enter the battle that person could die and using the potion to recharge quickly and then getting back in the battle might mean a win.
- I have not tested this, but entering the tower alone and having your friends come to you might give you the lowest number of enemies to fight.
The first 2 hints are still good, but there is an additional step in hint 3. Morgan (Chedstro here) and I tried my original third hint last night and it did not work that easily. When she teleported to me in the room (rather than entering with me) and extra 2 enemies showed up. However if I started the battle and then she teleported to me the original 2 enemies were all we had to fight. Just a word of warning though - the other 2 enemies did show up after the fight, so be careful not to go back in the fight circle. This might be difficult if you have to go into battle to get a book of knowledge, free the students, or talk to the head fire elf though.

The other major change I noticed was on Colossal Avenue. When you start a street fight there now you will get 2 enemies to fight if a second gets close enough while you are still in battle. When another person joined my fight (unbidden I might add) last night a third enemy joined. This might be normal or it could be just because no 4th enemy came close enough to join. The reason I say this may be good is that it seems the quests on this street most (all?) of the time involve killing multiple enemies.

My original character was Life-Myth and it was fun! Lots of accuracy and health from the Life class, lots of firepower from the Myth class. Even without the pets!

Think maybe you have the right major/minor i.e. Life/Myth. You get pretty good Myth as you pick up training points whereas in life they are pretty weak for a while. Hmmm, Maybe Life/Death. What school do you get the three shields for one spell, and how long do you have to wait to get it?

I like having that Myth Minon early, especially for the boss battles where no wandering baddies whould join as soon as you launched the minion. Also, in later battles the minion is a little weak for level 4 baddies. But if I could give him life from my life major..... Hmmm. Maybe life/myth.

Yes, when you click on your friend's name on your list, there is a button that says "Secure Chat". Click that and you can talk directly to them, no matter where they are in the game. You can ask them if it is safe to go to them then too.:)

I'm a Level 6 already. I've been killing time lately to level up by picking fights with the ghosts. I couldn't figure out how to access any of my treasure cards or why I have duplicates of items given to me. I'll have to try that "discard and draw button" trick. I have 5 cards loaded into the gold treasure slots, and I thought I just couldn't access them yet.

I'd like a pet, but I'm one of the unlucky peeps that will pay for it. ;)

My third wizard - that's right, third - is Myth/Balance and that just might be my favorite combo yet. (My others are Fire/Life and Storm/Death, both of which are great.) The Myth minions are a huge help in boss battles and the success rate of Balance spells has saved my neck more than once. Plus, they have some really cool spells, like Scorpion and Sandstorm. But then, every school does.

Well, I kinda know....I still have a couple questions that did not get answered in this thread:

-After the swipe I created five wizards to test different schools, and had all of them do the jump except one, so I could learn everything I was missing from jumping (I was only level 5 before the swipe). I didn't know about the training on other schools, I am really liking my fire and balance schools. Any suggestions for the minors that blend nicely with those schools?

-I am an adult, but I can not do the open chat. In the parental controls, I have it checked that I can, but it does not work. Is anybody else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? Can you only have open chat with friends? (this could be an issue since at this point I have no friends :sad:)

-When you click on the character tab in your notebook, what are all those % and stuff down in the bottom left corner? My first wizard (Mariah - Balance) jumped to level 15, and still all of that shows as 0%. My none jumping wizard (Sabrina Nightflame - Fire) has gotten to level 7, but they are still all 0% too.

I didn't know about the training on other schools, I am really liking my fire and balance schools. Any suggestions for the minors that blend nicely with those schools?
For Fire: Fire is a high damage school, but its casting success rate is only 75%. (I suggest they change the name of the Firecat spell to Fizzlecat. But I digress...) As a result, you're better off (imo) having a secondary school with a better casting rate albeit lower damage. In other words, if you take Storm or Myth, you'll likely end up as Queen of the Fizzles. Life School is a good fit because of its healing spells (and, believe me, you're going to need them). I imagine Death would also work well -- though my Pyromancer just makes use of a Ghoul amulet to take advantage of its health-transferring ability.

For Balance: Hmmmm... You might try using the opposite tactic than that for Fire. Since Balance has a high success rate (90%), you might go for one of the schools with a lower rate but more damage-inflicting ability. In that regards, Storm can't be beat. Its spells are awesome! (And, honestly, I don't find its fizzle rate to be all that bad.)

Have you tried just hitting the ENTER key? That should open up an empty dialogue box at the bottom of your screen for chatting. Whatever you type there will be seen by other wizards in the area -- provided they don't have restricted chat.

That % chart is to show what spell bonuses you are currently carrying. For example, if the hat you're wearing resists 4% damage from the Death school, it should show up there. (I say "should" because I have not found that chart to be 100% accurate.)

That would be the Balance school. There are two spells: Elemental Shield and another shield. Elemental protects against Storm, Ice, and Fire and the other against Life, Death, and Myth. You get both much before level 15.

I don't know anything about bosses yet. I can't finish the Golem Tower (too difficult still), or the Smiths, simply because I don't have access to lands yet where some Smiths are hiding!

I am in Life school with a minor in Myth. That Blood Bat is disgusting, yet effective. LOL! Today, I just reached Level 7 and I got a VERY useful spell from Lady Oriel, the Seraph. She granted me the Unicorn card, which gives me (and my three closest friends in batlle) 275 health points.! :banana:

Well, that's what I've been assuming... So if I'm battling a storm critter, I dress up in everything that say x% storm/shield... looking for the highest percentage.

I keep the across the board boost items in my inventory for emergency switches, but more often am found wearing my school specific enhancing items that include HP boosts. Also I keep around heal boosting items, as well as power pip boosting items, but some inventory I carry around just for those insanely tough battles that you have to redo and rethink your attire/accessories for. :rotfl: Anything that is impossible for me to wear is sold immediately... I have a bad habit of wanting to dye my clothes to at least sort of go together, so that can burn through gold quickly. Also I always have my stormzilla by my side since he gives me a power pip percentage boost, as well as an emergency stormzilla gold card.

Some other random thoughts/comments:

Be sure to buy and use gold cards, there are some that can be very helpful... although I'm speaking from the perspective of a battered and bruised Marleybone fighter and I know I didn't need to start using them until I was a ways into the game. But knowing what I know now, I'd probably start using them earlier. I'm still surprised by just how cheap some of the really useful ones are. Also it is nice to repeat boss fights when you can since that is often where the best items are dropped.

Also it can be good to assess your opponents and switch your deck up a bit before jumping into a battle.

When you join or get sucked into a battle in progress, you can still use your potion in that instant before you actually get to start fighting but are already in your spot waiting for the earlier turn to end.

I'll be on this evening and would be glad to help with the Harvest Lord. My pyromancer is Kenneth DragonHeart.

Unfortunately, no one can help you with Golem Tower. You have to solo it. The good news is that it's a side quest and won't hold you back from otherwise progressing in the game. I suggest coming back to it when you're a higher level. (Though they give you the quest early, I know a lot of people don't complete it until they are at least level 10.)

Excellent question! But I’m afraid there’s no easy answer. This is definitely one of those YMMV things....

Because monsters will usually be added to a fight when somebody else joins, this can prove to be bad news for the first wizard(s). There have been times when I know I have health enough left to finish off a fight, so I don’t bother to heal. Suddenly, another wizard pops into the duel, bringing with them a nice, fully-charged baddie! If I can’t heal before taking a couple hits, I’m toast -– even though I would have won my individual battle.

If I see a battle in progress – particularly one that involves the same creatures I’m after – I’ll first try to quickly scope out the action. If it looks like it’s in the later stages (for example, if I see lots of pips), then I’ll just sit it out and hope to join in the next one. If, however, it looks like the battle has just started, I usually ask if the wizard(s) would mind if I joined in. And, yes, sometimes I just run into the circle a few steps behind the initiator, without asking. Even if more monsters are added as a result, being there from the beginning can make all the difference -- both to the success of the endeavor and to how my participation is received. So far I haven't had any negative reactions -- and have actually made a couple friends that way!

Unfortunately, no one can help you with Golem Tower. You have to solo it. The good news is that it's a side quest and won't hold you back from otherwise progressing in the game. I suggest coming back to it when you're a higher level. (Though they give you the quest early, I know a lot of people don't complete it until they are at least level 10.)


Excellent question! But I’m afraid there’s no easy answer. This is definitely one of those YMMV things....

Because monsters will usually be added to a fight when somebody else joins, this can prove to be bad news for the first wizard(s). There have been times when I know I have health enough left to finish off a fight, so I don’t bother to heal. Suddenly, another wizard pops into the duel, bringing with them a nice, fully-charged baddie! If I can’t heal before taking a couple hits, I’m toast -– even though I would have won my individual battle.

If I see a battle in progress – particularly one that involves the same creatures I’m after – I’ll first try to quickly scope out the action. If it looks like it’s in the later stages (for example, if I see lots of pips), then I’ll just sit it out and hope to join in the next one. If, however, it looks like the battle has just started, I usually ask if the wizard(s) would mind if I joined in. And, yes, sometimes I just run into the circle a few steps behind the initiator, without asking. Even if more monsters are added as a result, being there from the beginning can make all the difference -- both to the success of the endeavor and to how my participation is received. So far I haven't had any negative reactions -- and have actually made a couple friends that way!

And, of course if you keep losing connection like I was last week, you may make a few enemies!:rotfl:

Aww, I wish I had seen this last night! I managed to defeat the Harvest Lord around the time you posted. And there's a good reason to wait until you're Level 12 before going after the Golem Tower. Let's just say I killed two birds with one stone. ;) I do have a hint, though. Be sure you have a full potion bottle by playing at the Faire. Before you join the Iron Golem fight, click the potion for full healing and mana.

Heheh. Cat had a moment where he popped up into my battle in progress, too. He was very helping in getting me to finish my defeat of 6 Magma Men. ;)

And the funniest thing was that I tried to run to Aengus to add him to my friends and he didn't see me yelling at him to stop running so I could add him. I finally cornered him. ;)

When you go up the sarcophagus is not 'clickable'.

It depends on whether or not you have an adult account or an under 13 account. If you have an adult account, you can log into the home page to manage your account.

If your account is set up as an under 13 account, you will not be able to active the free chat option. "The Wizard101 team has implemented this to ensure a safe environment for our younger wizards!"

If you are able to open chat, you can do this by pressing enter and typing in the space at the bottom.

I was having the same problem, check your accounts on the main page, make sure you have open chat enabled. Check your birthday too, if that doesn't work. For some reason they had my birthday all wrong, they had my year of birth as 1997 instead of 1974 for some very odd reason. As soon as I fixed that I was able to chat, and trust me, it makes the game so much more fun and addicting!

Ok, I am not bashing the Wizards Forum, but am I the only one who found this thread more helpful then the whole forum over there? Or did I just have my blond wig on when I was exploring their forum? That happens to me a lot when it comes to computers....:badpc:

Good afternoon all! I am doing great and am higher than I was before the wipe. However I am truly stuck. I have to defeat Ice Collosus, and I can't ind him at all. I do mean all. He is not even showing up on my map. I can't get my next ice spell until I take them proof of defeating him. Any idea where he might be? If I should not have asked this, sorry all. Getting extremely frustrated though as I am almost on level 22.

BTW, anyone in need of my help, I'll be glad to lend it. Look for Destiny Goldencloud. I'm usually on around 9:00 at night and later. To late judging by the lack of sleep I've been getting! :)

Okay, be careful when you get the Serpant of the Staff and Eye of Krok tasks from Professor Winthrop in the Map Room of the Pyramid. If you log out after the Serpant Staff, you will have to repeat it. Also, I got stuck in the Map Room after completing both tasks. Could not teleport out or teleport to a friend. I had to log out and complete the two tasks again. Make sure NOT to log out until you speak with Winthrop at the altar again and get the quest to speak with Sergeant Talbot. Best idea may be to follow through all the way to the start of Sphinx Island just to make sure you don't have to keep repeating. Took me five tries until the tasks actually took. On the bright side, I picked up a lot of experience points and some nice goodies.

Hey Destiny, is this a task for your spell school? When I had mine, I had to go to the Storm Tower in Ravenswood (this was for a minion). You might try your school's Ice Tower (these are located around Bartleby).

OK, I have been at this for way too long and I am getting ready to give up. I have all the quests complete for Triton Ave and Cyclops Lane, and I am getting started of the quests for Firecat Alley. (I swear you all know something I don't cause I am still only at level 12) I do just fine in the street battles, but the minute I step into any tower, I turn into the Fizzle Queen and before I know it, I am back in the Commons with no health.
Any tips as to what I could be doing wrong? :confused3 I have been trying to clean up one street at a time, but that isn't working cause I can't get past the towers at the end. So I move onto to the next street but all I seem to be doing is adding tower quests to my quest log.

Depending on your magic school, it is often a good idea to hit the towers with some help. Also in the latest release it seemed that they moved around some of the free spells, so that might have been your problem with Falmea... although if you have an earlier task that you haven't completed yet for your professor that can also stop the next task from being given. I've found that the lady in the fairegrounds on the stage, as well as the death school guy down in the sunken city also may have free spells but I'm not sure if this new version directs you to go talk to them.

More than willing to help you with the towers if you'd like to arrange to meet.

I'm thinking maybe we should designate a location in Wizard City and a specific realm where DIS folks can meet up to help each other. We should probably pick a realm other than Ambrose since most of the other realms are like total ghost towns.

I have decided to take a break from the game for the night. I realized when I was getting ready to cast my "Fizzle" Cat on Prof. Ambrose out of frustration, that I needed to put the wand down and step away for the night. But I will be back on tomorrow, and would love any and all help I can get.
I totally agree we need a place we can all meet up to help each other out. I say we set a place and time (or a few times a day for the different time zones), then each day if you are needing help or wanting to help others, head over to that spot at the designated time and see if there are fellow Dis'ers in need of help. Just a suggestion.

As for Dalia, just click on her and you will see a new spell card that you can get by simply clicking on train button on the bottom of the screen... after that add it to you deck so you can use it!!;)

I was Level 12 when I was trying to complete the towers, too. I completed it last night and now proudly own the title of Wizard City Protector. :worship:
I also had lots of help. One thing I found interesting was that the first position in a battle usually attracts all the hits. But as Mims pointed out,
if you get defeated, you can get health and rejoin the battle if you're fighting it with someone from your friends' list.

So last night, I didn't need a particular tower but got creamed. I had a full potion bottle on me. So when I hit the "flee" button, I quickly hit the potion bottle to get my instant health and followed her back to rejoin the battle. We defeated the tower boss and she got her task completed. Mims did this for me and Fairy, and it works like....a charm.

And believe me, those Olde Town battles are easy compared to Colossus Blvd. :eek:

OH I truly feel your pain!! I too do well on the street but give me a lowely lvl 3 Boss in a tower and all I do is fizzle, grrr...very frustrating, so what are we doing wrong?? As for Dalia, just click on her and you will see a new spell card that you can get by simply clicking on train button on the bottom of the screen... after that add it to you deck so you can use it!!;)
That's what I thought (was hoping) she was going to have for me, but no such luck. I think it might have just been a little bug.

I sure call it that. I have a Thunder Snake spell which has a 70% success rate, but that seems to work better and more often then my Fizzlecat with 75% :sad2:

For the next meet, I would suggest the lake in the commons area. It seems to be a little more open and as long as another realm is used (Falmea possibly) the traffic passing by shouldn't be too bad.

I'm not sure how these times work for everyone but in an attemp to shift things a little bit how about:

So, DH finally got his letter... :dance3:

But, in setting up his character, something was entered wrong (I guess) and the game must think he is under 13 instead of almost 41. :rotfl: So, he cannot text chat and he cannot do secure chat with friends.

Any ideas on how to fix it, other than reporting it as a bug? He can't find anything on the website to help him.

I wanna be able to talk to him in the game. :confused:

Day2- I'm hooked. It is interesting how very like it is to Toontown in game structure. Not being a big gamer, I don't know if this is just a typical game structure that lots of game follow, or if it just happened to be a toontown knockoff with better graphics. Either way, it sure made it easier for me to learn, as I had a 'stint' with Toontown for about a month last year.

Actually since it is still in beta, I don't think there is any organized hint site at this point. You can try the Wizards forums, although they aren't that user-friendly in my opinion - have huge moderation lag. I'd say your best bet is to hook up with someone else to get tips and help. I'm in Marleybone right now and often get tired of dying in battles, so I'd be happy to help or just be an in-game tipline if you'd like. :rotfl:

It was good adding people, and I'm just shy of Level 15. Just need about 100 more experience points. A big thank you goes to DesertCat, the hardest working man in town. He and I were taking down some Gobblers in Colossus, so now I have all three badges there. I'm a "Gobbler Gobbler" now. :rotfl2:

And I don't have wand envy anymore, since Ambrose gave me a staff. I can walk (or run) softly and carry a BIG STICK! :laughing:

It's scary that I've been playing for less than a week and have progressed this far. I discovered this is gaming crack for me. I'm so over stimulated by the game that I can be playing until 1am or later. I find it difficult to sleep after signing off. :eek:

But...I have found my own bug that I'm not happy about. I was awarded a new spell from my Life professor. It was a 3-pip card, Nature's Wrath or something similarly named. I had it in my deck, then removed it to change cards. When I went back to my deck to place it back, it was not near my other Life cards. I clicked the "bug" button to report that my spell went missing. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Luckily, my Cyclops (myth "minor" training point spell) is 3-pip value, so I don't die that easily.

Oh, I discovered that Sabrina in the Faire area has a free shield card for your major, and you can buy other shield with training points. I hadn't known that.
I also found it helpful to check the stores when you gain level milestones. I was able to upgrade my spell deck to hold more spells, dye my clothes that didn't match, and had gotten a new wand after Level 5. I am debating whether to invest in a new robe with extra health or wait to see if my victories get them for me.

If you look over at the forum on the Wizard site, you'll see that others are having this problem as well so I would hope that they would get a fix out there shortly.

To get to your gold cards, you need to first discard one of your regular cards and then draw from your gold card stash.

I know I probably should just jump into the game without trying to read everything that's been posted about it first, both here and on the Wizard 101 Forums, but I'd really like to avoid wasting time on school choices that would not work out well for me. I'm kind of drawn to Storm and Myth.

Any suggestions? I will probably have to rely on solo player mode a lot, since I would have trouble typing quickly and accurately during group fights. Also, I'd like to be able to log on for short periods of time, and organized efforts aren't really conducive to that. (Can you actually get anywhere this way, or is there really no point in trying?)

So, DH finally got his letter... :dance3:

But, in setting up his character, something was entered wrong (I guess) and the game must think he is under 13 instead of almost 41. :rotfl: So, he cannot text chat and he cannot do secure chat with friends.

Any ideas on how to fix it, other than reporting it as a bug? He can't find anything on the website to help him.

I wanna be able to talk to him in the game. :confused:

Same thing happened to me, they had me as being 11 instead of 34. All I had to do to fix it was change my year of birth to the correct year. Once I had that fixed I could enable the chat feature, even though I thought I already had :thumbsup2

It can be a little overwhelming at first. My best advice is to take it slow, one quest at a time until you are comfortable with the game and your spells. BlueHairedMonkey signed on last night for the first time too and I think is feeling the same way you are. I am needing a break from my own quests (I now have the Firecat Alley towers to add to my growing list of bosses I can not defeat:sad1: ) so I spent last night with Monkey taking him through his first quests and I am sure I will be doing it again tonight (he may be super smart with computers but he isn't a very good wizard :rotfl:). If there are any other newbies out there wanting a little in-game help, just holler. Lots of us from here are more then willing to help in any way we can.

Not sure if I will be able to make the earlier meet and greet tonight since it will be at 6pm (dinner time) for me. If I am not there, I will definitely be there on Thursday. Can't wait to finally put some "faces" to all the names!

Okay, I can't figure it out. How do I chat, I mean the normal talking. I can figure out how to do the pull down quick chat, but it is there must be a way to type in your own words somewhere. I think I have it selected correctly on my account settings to allow 'Dictionary Chat'. So if I do manage to find you all at tonights meeting and you see Grace Silverglade, but she doesn't say anything, don't take it personally!

It depends on whether or not you have an adult account or an under 13 account. If you have an adult account, you can log into the home page to manage your account.

If your account is set up as an under 13 account, you will not be able to active the free chat option. "The Wizard101 team has implemented this to ensure a safe environment for our younger wizards!"

If you are able to open chat, you can do this by pressing enter and typing in the space at the bottom.


-I am an adult, but I can not do the open chat. In the parental controls, I have it checked that I can, but it does not work. Is anybody else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? Can you only have open chat with friends? (this could be an issue since at this point I have no friends :sad:)



Have you tried just hitting the ENTER key? That should open up an empty dialogue box at the bottom of your screen for chatting. Whatever you type there will be seen by other wizards in the area -- provided they don't have restricted chat.


Okay, so yes my account does show my correct birthdate and adult account. Yes I can see other people's open chat, so it must be selected okay. Enter key when? Like just in the walking around view, or do you need to select chat first? Off to experiment...

Dependng on the amount of interested people, we should be able to make a few runs to get everyone through. I would propose a morning and afternoon run on Saturday (7/12). Please post if interested and I'll start to set-up groups of 4. I think it will help if there is a mix of schools in each group along with at least 1 person in the team that is level 25+. Please post your school and current level if you are interested in joining the Grubb run or would like to lead a group.

"Library dues"
"Find the smiths"

For library dues, you will have to fight the final bosses in each of the major areas of Wizard City (Triton Avenue, Firecat Alley, etc.)

For the smiths, just look in places that are secluded from the main path of the area. :thumbsup2

Once you finish the quests on Unicorn Way you get that title. I still have not figured out how to actually "wear" it however :rotfl2:

To get all the "smiths" you need to sneak around behind the buildings and gardens as you go. If a gate is blocked to you, just wait to finish the "smiths" until later. Lots of quests work that way. You need to level up to get access to the areas you need to finish them.

With those two quests no worry they will take you untill you beat the boss at firecat to beat trust me you will get it

Once you finish the quests on Unicorn Way you get that title. I still have not figured out how to actually "wear" it however :rotfl2:...
If you type "C" to get to your character screen you will see a list of titles you have earned in the right hand area. The top "No Title" will give you your school title (i.e. Novice Sorceror). Once you finish Unicorn Way you will see the "Hero of Unicorn Way" title. Double click on it and it will now show under your name.

As you finish certain areas (i.e. Unicorn Way, Golen Tower, Wizard City, etc.) or kill certain numbers of certain types (i.e. Undead, Golems, Gobblers, etc.) of enemies more titles will be added for you to choose from). At the moment I have 14 pages of mostly empty spaces (112 titles) that can be filled.

Ain't that the truth! I went in there the other night to help my sister through it, forgetting that my son had already mentioned it...(middle aged brain:()
and it did take us forever!

I had skipped it during the level up, but oh boy it let me know right quick it hadn't forgotten me! It activated for me too, so we had a real busy evening.:lmao:

Note here: If you run out of life and mana then, as long as one of you stays in there to hold it open, you can teleport out, hit the games for more mana for your bottles and then just teleport back in to the other person. We had to take turns doing that once or twice.;)

I saw this too. I asked if there would be a better deal for paying on an annual basis. Also, asked about having two accounts, although I'm assuming it will be a fee for each account. I haven't played Toontown since the announcement that VMK was closing and don't plan to renew our accounts there so if they could bring the price down a little bit for Wizards...:rolleyes1

In comparison though, Wizards is in beta and it seems like I have fewer issues with it than Toontown. In TT, there are still so many bugs and crashes. Plus, the customer service in TT bites whereas the "school administrators" in Wizards have been awesome.

Side note: I sent in the information for 86 of my VMK accounts for the free month of TT so once I get the codes for all of these, I won't have to pay for TT for awhile. :lmao: -complains to nursing home staff that I need Internet to play TT- :rolleyes:

I jumped home to refill my potion and jumped back to where we were, which was a really great strategy. We managed to defeat our first boss, but after that, it was getting too late to stay up. I can see this taking a very long time if you can't avoid a battle.

I did earn a very useful Level 16 spell. I can absorb 400 health attacks, but only on a 3-pip shield. And my faeries, if they're available, are always good to have around to boost my health. :)

Argh! I'm stuck again!

Marleybone peeps: I'm doing the "Policeman's Ball" quest. I need to beat Sweepers in Ironworks but that means going back through a lot of the Ironworks quest to open the gates again. :headache:

Also, need help in Newgate Prison. It's such a pain just to walk through. Takes forever, so I want to take that walk as little as possible. Until I get these 2 things done, I'm at a stand still.

I'll tell you, Isle of Storms is NOT a good place for a storm wizard. Anyone working on quests there? Have several major boss battles - including a very large red and black spider that has 1800 points.

That is another one of the "Grubb" like instances where you have to complete the quest in full. It took me and another girl 2 1/2 hours to complete. Of course we took 'health' breaks and had to play some to get our 2 bottles full again and again.

You need to plan on at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours to finish even with help. It gets crazy. I honestly can't even tell you how many levels you have to go through. At least 15...probably more like 18.

I have made it to level 20, and am now in krokosphinx island. I can't wait to get to level 22 so I can get that cool meteor spell that hits all the monsters at one time!

I have 2 spell cards that I have no idea what they do. When I tried to use one yesterday Card asked me if I was "sure I wanted to do that". I said I did not know. Can someone explain what exactly these cards do?

The cards are blue, with a picture of an angry sun. One of them is titled "Taunt" the other "Distract", it says "generate threat on target" on both cards.

I believe I got them from talking to a teacher when I went behind a waterfall.

Taunt makes the enemies start attacking you more than the other ppl fighting with you and distract is the opposite. :)

I meant to help you more tonight, but get the old disconnect thing again. I don't know if it's the computers here again, or the storm going on outside messing up the cable. Even the computer on the direct cable is having problems now. lol
