First of all what can you not see - the Frost Colossus or the Storm Chamber in the Grand Arena?

If this is an Ice School quest, it does not sound familiar to me. I went to The Shopping District, The Ice School Training Tower, Colossus Blvd. (a few times), and The Hall Of Champions to find a Colossus at one point or another. If it is an Ice School Quest at what level did you get the quest?

If you have unlimited access, you have to keep completing quests until the Headmaster gives you access. If I remember correctly, you pretty much have to finish all of Wizard City, except the Grubb quest, before you can go into Colossus.

Yep, you need to get permission from headmaster Ambrose. You will get this permission when you complete the three streets from Old Town: Triton bvld, Firecat Alley and Cyclops Lane.

I honestly don't recall having any problem with the McTavishes. They are Life and Myth, right? Since those are 2 of your schools, I would keep primarily Balance spells in my deck, especially Sandstorm, Spectral Blast, Hex and Balance Blade. Your Spirit Shield is also essential. Also, use either a Storm wand [damage boost against Myth] or a Death wand [boost against Life]. (Or you might farm Shakes O'Leary in Chelsea Court until he drops a Life staff on you. This staff will provide you with an extra pip at the start of the battle, which is a BIG help in Marleybone.) Load up on Pixie treasure cards, and maybe a couple Ghoul &/or Vampire. Most importantly, use your Helpful Mander minion! It is one of the best minions in the game.

By "last tower", do you mean the Drake Dungeon?

What problem are you having? Is it just a matter of the fight being difficult? I know some of the spell quest battles can be pretty brutal. And, yeah, your friends can't help.

Honestly, I found the solution to be to just skip the battle with them entirely and I snuck up behind them and took the book from the crates. Sometimes, the best fight is no fight at all. I am sure that with the Judgement spell that I could wipe them out with no trouble whatsoever, but there was something that was not working for me with the deck build that I had then. I am now at level 35 and dreading Katzenstein's Lab. (I hate the swirling gearheads!)

I tried "home" and got a "stained end table" It's basically a 2 drawer night stand.

When I used "frog", a while ago, I got 500 gold.

The below codes may have been limited time/item codes, but it does not hurt to try. You only can get 1 of each item per account, no matter how many different codes give you that item. You also can only get the items on 1 wizard per account, so be sure to log onto that wizard to redeem the code.

I will try to make the next steps as precise at possible, but since I have no new codes to enter there are some screens I can not see at the moment. To redeem the codes do it in this order:
1) Go to wizard101.com and login to your account.
2) On the left under your account name click on "Redeem Card or Code".
3) Click on "Wizard101 Promotional Codes".
4) Enter the code (with no spaces & does not seem that case matters) in the box on the bottom and click "Continue". If the code is still active you should go to another screen.
5) Click "Activate Now". If the code has not exceeded its time or number limit and you have not used it before it should tell you that the code has now been activated on your account.
6) You can now either put in another code for that account, put in codes on a different account, or close the browser. If you wish to enter the codes for a different account be sure to change the logon.
7) After the browser is closed you will want to start up the game, logon the account you used the codes on, and choose the wizard you want the items to go to.
8) Once the game is started you should get a gift icon popping up in the lower left hand corner of the window. Click on that icon. A box should pop up with all the gifts you activated. Click on each of these gifts and then on "Accept Gift". The gift will now be in you inventory.

KI announces a new chat for adults on Wizard101's website

New Chat Enhancements Announced
We are releasing new community enhancements very soon!

One of the enhancements is 18+ Chat*. 18+ Chat will allow players a more open communication environment with other 18+ players. Starting tonight, we are adding web-based account controls for 18+ chat. Please be aware that although the control will be added to your account, 18+ Chat will NOT be launched tonight.

This chat feature is in response to our community's requests. To ensure the highest level of safety, we have chosen to launch this for our active Subscriber community only. Please note that this option is off by default, and you must actively select this option under Account Management.

Our terms for in-game communication with other players will remain the same. Violent and abusive behavior, as well as the exchange of personal information is still not acceptable.


Once we launch this feature, the following updates to chat will apply:

Menu Chat (default setting for under13)

players will continue to see only Menu Chat.

13 to 18+ Text Chat (default setting for 13+)

players will continue to see only our Dictionary Text Chat.
players will NOT see the 18+ chat.

New 18+ Chat

will be filtered for profanity.

I agree with you, I am also happy wit the current chat. Not sure I will use the new one.

I am a subscriber, but I guess lot of parents will keep the regular chat so they can talk with their kids. I also have a few kids (teens) in my friend list. So i will probably stick with the current filtered chat.

Another thing I like about the filtered chat is that it forces people to write the word correctly. I dont like reading abbreviations.

A "little birdy" tells me the following items are coming next week to the test server:
1) A new world named Grizzleheim will be added. It is based on Norse mythology and has bears/wolves/ravens for inhabitants. Parts of the new world will be available to all players (including free).
2) 18+ chat will be available to all who set that preference in the account info. This chat will only be filtered for profanity. I suspect they will have a dictionary of disallowed words that chat will be filtered against. However giving out personal information is still not advised.
3) Grouping - Not quite sure how they will implement this, but might be like a party system for battles.
4) Auction house - Not sure what exactly they will allowed to be auctioned, but fits in very well with next item.
5) Crafting - You will be able to buy Equipment, Spell Card, Furniture, and General/Basic crafting tables in game for your dorm room/house. With these tables you can craft items once you get the recipes and items needed. Also buying treasure cards from the libraries will be discontinued. You will have to craft or maybe get them from the auction house.

Sometime around the end of August they will be introducing "advanced pets". Once again no details were given, but my thoughts are pets that you can equip with spell cards at the least. The most I would hope for are pets that you can equip with clothes or other items and that actually fight with you.

One thing that was NOT mentioned and is unlikely soon is a level cap increase.

Also Wizard101 has gone over 3 million accounts now, but it will not be announced due to Free Realms doing it much faster.

Are you sure your "little birdy" isn't pulling your leg? Although auction houses and crafting are standard elements of adult MMORPGs, I think they'd be terribly out of place in Wizard101.

If this is true, then I think KingsIsle has forgotten that this is supposed to be a kid's game. Sounds like they've hired a bunch of ex-WoW/EQ/LOTRO programmers who are trying to force their "grown-up" MMO concepts on this game.

This has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

Their rationale for not allowing item trading has always been that they don't want kids to be taken advantage of through unfair trades. Since an auction will most likely require in-game gold, doesn't this pose an even greater danger??? I can just see some kid blowing his whole bankroll on a Ninja Pig card...

My GrandMasters (and I have 5 of them) have tons of side quests they haven't done, because I refuse to have all that XP go to waste.

If KingsIsle is so set on aping other online games, then they need to take care of this problem. It is Standard Operating Procedure for MMOs to raise level caps when significant new content is added. They should have done it when Dragonspyre was added, but they said they would do it for "the summer session". If they don't do it now, then they are in serious trouble.

I will wait and see on this, but agree that keeping the cap the same is going to lose them some customers.

I do not see the point in spending hours doing a difficult quest (like Malistaire) and getting zero credit. I also like to get stuff at the library, especially pixie cards and tough, etc.

Finally, I loathe trading and auction type stuff - not my thing, I guess - I would rather have a choice of some kind.

Just my 2 cents - but I really dont want to sound that down on the game - I really enjoy and I WILL wait and see!

Is crafting a whole lot different than farming for completed items. I would think that getting a somewhat unique item by farming/searching for recipes and items might be better. I do however foresee problems from auctions/trading.

Actually it has always been a game meant for 10+. However with the large percentage of adults playing they are trying to add more things for them. I have no problem with that as long as they make it so kids are still safe.

From what I was told they are having problems with raising the level cap. Since you can finish Dragonspyre and do most of the side quests without maxing out (as long as you do not farm or redo quests/instances much) I do not have a problem with that also. Since Grizzleheim is really a side world, as long as the enemies are not significantly more powerful and the quests there give more item rewards, a level raise is not any more needed there either.

As far as SOP - Guild Wars has always had a level cap that you reach well before finishing any of the initial campaigns. It has been that way from when they started with 1 campaign and is that way today (3 campaigns and an expansion). I reached max level a while ago and have yet to finish even 1 campaign. However I still enjoy the story lines and customizing my characters with different spells/clothes/weapons for the different enemies faced.

This is all to say I will welcome some of the new things added IF they are handled right.

I have heard that if you go in with 2 players and set a flag near the third switch you can port to the flag after activating the other 2 switches and get it in time. I don't know if I would chance it if you need the instance, but it may be worth a try even if you have 3 or 4 players.

I finally gathered all the ingredients for the five Daggers.

There are a lot of cat tails in the Mooshu's common area. In the ponds around the Moodah statue and the other pond in the courtyard to the left.

I also found a lot of Mist Wood along the roads of Hametsu Village.

EDIT: I went on the next potion quest in Krokotopia. I gathered all the ingredients but one. We need a total of 30 stone blocks. But we can't see the blocks, we only see the the shadow on the ground... :( I reported the bug to KI. I decided not to continue until I can find those blocks more easily.

Inside the hallways, look for a little sparkling patch that repeats every few seconds. For some reason, they don't all sparkle -- but many of them do.

It sounds like your previous item was still crafting. Each recipe has a cooldown timer associated with it. A crafting slot isn't open until the timer is done. For the rings, I think the timer is an hour. For the next item (athames), it's three and a half hours!!! (And you need a ton of stone blocks for that task, too.)

You can check your timer on the character screen, next to the badge icon.

Yes, Grizzleheim is very buggy. Seems GrandMasters are limited to the first street only. Seems more buggy than the Dragonspyre test.

I feel we will get a few updates on the test servers before release and at least one wipe.

If you get a chance, go take a look on the Hall of Valor. This place is AWESOME! Take the small walkway going downward near the boat in Grizzleheim, continue after you go under the water fall. The door is open to everyone. This must be one of the most beautiful place in Wizard101.

I went to Grizzleheim to do the traders quest and as soon as it was done Baldur sent me back to WC.. Now, I can;t get back to Grizzleheim. What am I missing? :confused3

Also, why would they limit Grand Masters to one are of Grizz?

If you get a chance, go take a look on the Hall of Valor. This place is AWESOME! Take the small walkway going downward near the boat in Grizzleheim, continue after you go under the water fall. The door is open to everyone. This must be one of the most beautiful place in Wizard101.

I am sorry, the name is not quite auccurate. Follow the direction for Nidavellir from the compass. Hall of Valor is inside.

BTW, Watch out for the bosses in this area. They are bugged. They can cast a 1 pip Judgement causing 1000 in damage...

Another thing i just learned. Most bosses all around the spiral, were upgraded. They now have tricked spells, they also sometimes cast more than one spell per turn and they can also summon minions.

Last night, i got defeated by the Jade Oni. He used to be very easy for me. But he kept casting Unicorns for him and his minion...

Some people seem not to like the upgraded bosses, others welcome the challenge. For my part, I don't know yet. But it sure will be more difficult for solo players.

I got 7 cat tails at the big fountain in Hyde Park. Using the trick mentioned below you could get a LOT of these in a short amount of time.

I found quite a few crafting item spawn sites on the roof of Scotland Yard that usually gave Mist Wood and most of the time a Stone Block or 2. Of the 8 sites usually 4 would spawn every time I changed realms. Since you can change realms once a minute and it took about a minute to harvest all the sites, I was usually getting at least 3 Mist Wood and 1 Stone Block a minute.
...For the next item (athames), it's [I]three and a half hours!!!...
Once you get to Marleybone it is 5 each of 2 items. One items cooldown is over 8.5 hours and the others is just over 9 hours. That means a minimum of 44 hours to complete the quest. Besides that there is over 7000 gold worth of items you have to buy.

The Mooshu crafting task requires over 12 hours to cool down and also makes you purchase the equipment crafting table (the basic crafting table doesn't cut it). Currently there is an bug, so it doesn't clearly give you the message that it is the wrong table for the recipe - right now you get an error message that is blocked by an empty info box. :lmao:

PS I was happy to see that they did away with the all chat channel idea. I guess even the developers found it annoying when they put it into place on the test server.

Only one minion? You got lucky! LafChill and I fought the Jade Oni the other night and he summoned the War Oni, the Plague Oni and the Death Oni to help him out!!!

Four Onis against two wizards hardly seems like a fair fight, so we both summoned our own minions to help. That would've made things fairer, were it not for the fact that the Jade Oni would get extra turns and cast Unicorn to heal every so often (even when he didn't have enough pips to do so)!

We actually defeated him, though it wasn't easy and there were a number of deaths along the way....

It was an interesting fight, but I think this is actually a terrible change to the game if it persists.

The worst part is how these fights break the rules of the game. Why should bosses be able to go out of order, take multiple turns in a row, and cast spells without the requisite number of pips???

I agree. If they wanted to make the fights more difficult, I think they should have added power pips to the bosses and a more elaborate deck. I am ok if they heal, but they should follow the rules of combat. And I might be ok to have them call friends for help since we can too.

Looks like the test realm blew away almost all of our reagents last night in an update. The following was posted on the main Wizards site.

We had a late night update to the Test Realm that did not get messaged in time.

All Reagent quantities were reset to one, to counter a large bug with Reagents. We apologize however this was a necessary reset, and this is one of the perils of a Test Realm. This reset would NOT happen in a Live Realm environment.

Also many people are running into crafting task bugs that have apparently not been addressed yet in any updates.

I read your post over on Central -- and I wholeheartedly agree! I hope you send your feelings to KingsIsle. They really need to get that feedback. Heaven knows, I've given them several pieces of my mind recently.

I'm glad I was able to get 2 more wizards through Malistaire this past weekend (with LafChill's able assistance). However, we both have Myth wizards just starting Dragonspyre. Now, knowing what lies ahead, it's hard to get motivated to play. I honestly don't know how we will ever be able to defeat him.

I never thought these ridiculous changes would make it off the test server. It's not just Malistaire (and the Jade Oni), either. Reports are coming in about other bosses who have been "improved". Sergeant Skullsplitter in Triton Avenue apparently casts blades on himself & his minion, a trap on you, and then attacks -- all in the same turn! Meowiarty in Big Ben will go out of turn to dismantle any shields or blades you put up. So you might as well forget about protecting or buffing yourself....

What does this teach kids? Don't bother developing your skills and strategies because they will be meaningless in the end? Because the game breaks its own rules in these fights?!?

I find this to be completely unacceptable. If it is not changed soon, I feel I will have no choice but to cancel my subscription.

Way to go, KingsIsle! You've managed to ruin a perfectly wonderful game.

I gave my negative feedback to Kingsisle- someone was speculating that they might be trying to pull in a different audience - ie, more serious gamers? That's fine, but they have left me in the dust, along with some others. I mostly solo, etc and cannot dedicate hours and hours to fighting impossible bosses. Also, I had enjoyed that I felt I mastered some of the card strategy, but with the bosses able to avoid all the rules, the game becomes fairly senseless, to me. I also am having trouble accumulating money or crowns for housewares, etc so I am going to play about one more month and then cancel - I watn to get a house for my four year old granddaughter, who has a level 26 wizard. She will love buying furnishings, etc. Then we will put her to "bed" and log off. Too bad.

Just to let you know of something I just found out.

When you are done crafting all the items required by the craft master. You need to have all the items in your backpack in order to complete the quest. So don't sell them like I did... :guilty:

I had sold my rings for the first task from Krok's craft master. And he would not complete my task. His "?" was grey. I went to the Bazaar to buy the items i was missing. Then he accepted to complete my task and gave me another one.

Hello students..

I am hearing loud and clear the message that many of you do not approve of the enhanced boss fights, or at least the way in which they were implemented.

The idea behind these was not to make the game more "hardcore", more difficult or to make it impossible to group. We simply wanted those encounters to be more interesting than 1. Defeat Monster, 2. Collect Loot. Each of the we changed bosses had a twist on normal combat, or required a specific strategy to be employed, like a puzzle.

Rest assured, we have heard your displeasure, and we will re-visit the boss fights very soon.

My daughter tried to play Wizard101 today for the first time since the update. She tried to defeat Malistaire about four times and tried the crafting. All I could hear was the frustration. She has convinced two of her friends who also play Wizard to go back to TT. Not the best option but at least she is having fun. I am still waiting to see how KI fixes the current situation. Someone on Central posted that the game now seems like a second job with all the time you spend doing the crafting. I might be on the search for a new game again. :sad2:

Regarding the minotaur minion in myth school - I think he is worthless - his spells are virtually always feint and distract type spells - The cylops minion is far more versatile and I always use him in battles when I am alone or there are less than four others with me - I have soloed most of dragonspyre, by the way, with just my cyclops. I have all his protective and buffing spells, as well. I do not use the sacrifice minion spell, however, so sometimes he is still standing and I am defeated - lol.

Enhanced Boss Encounters Update
The bosses of the Spiral have been taught a lesson by Merle Ambrose, and they will no longer interrupt your combat! All the Enhanced Boss Battles are back to normal, but the bosses have kept their knowledge of Power Pips, and they will earn and use Power Pips just like a Wizard.

Crafting Updates
More Mist Wood and Scrap Iron will be appearing in the Spiral, and should be easier for Wizards to find as they learn the ways of Reagents and Crafting.

Cool down timers on some recipes have been lowered to allow Wizards to create items more quickly.

Reagents have been added as rewards for Mini Games!

The reagents needed for Treasure Cards have been reduced, most notably the number of Treasure Card ingredients needed to create the final Treasure Card.

The descriptions for some of the Craft-able Items were incomplete and should now reflect all the bonuses the items grant the player.

Treasure Card Updates
Harold Argleston in the Wizard City Library, and Zan’ne in the Krokotopia Library will have some of their inventory of Treasure Cards renewed, but at a cost. Treasure Cards in the Library will be more expensive than in the Bazaar, and the Bazaar will be more expensive than Crafting your own Treasure Cards. *

Quest Updates
The Weapons Cache in Merkholm will once again allow players to interact with it, without having to switch Realms.
Death Students will be acknowledged for completing the Sweet Revenge quest.

Stump Worms will be appearing once again for the Good Eats quest.

Housing Update
The Wallpaper and Floor textures that had suddenly turned pink and purple for many Wizards, will once again appear as their normal wallpaper and floor patterns!

The Minotaur Minion is one of the most misunderstood minions in the game, imo. He can be absolutely awesome when used properly. You really need to call him early in the battle, and then let him pull aggro for a turn or two. (In other words, don't cast HumongoFrog right away after summoning him. His taunts won't be effective then.) He really shines in boss battles, since he can keep the boss's attention off of you while you set up bigger hits. I've come out of some boss battles with barely a scratch because my Minotaur was taking all the hits.

I believe they have also changed his deck. Although I've only used him once or twice since the most recent update, he was more aggressive than previously. He taunted a bit less, and cast his personal attack, Troll, and Ghoul more.

You can select and purchase your own personal estate/castle which you can then furnish and decorate. You can also have friends over to your home rather than just being stuck with only a set dorm room.

The bazaar is a very new addition which allows players to sell off items that they don't need/want and other players can buy those items. Certain items are marked 'no auction' though and can't be sold at the bazaar. Also the price you get for selling, as well as the price you pay to buy will depend on the number of that item that the shopkeeper currently has in stock.

It could be that you need to change to trial and then select the discounted annual option. If you change your account to trial, it continues running until the expiration point so you have time to get it figured out.

That's what I did -- but it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how!

I didn't unsubscribe or switch to trial first. If I remember the steps correctly: After logging in at the site, I went through the "Update Subscription" link, made sure the 12-month plan was selected, and then picked the "Show Total" button at the bottom in order to complete the purchase. (I also updated my credit card info at the same time.)

My renewal date is this week, and I've been going back and forth about whether or not to renew. I have to say that I have gotten a bit bored with the game (in part because my friends don't seem to be on at the same time as me anymore, but also because it's the same basic thing over and over again), and I also get frustrated by the game (if I get pulled into battle in grizzleheim one more time I'm going to scream). I'm not sure if I want to spend the $60 on another year when the concept of the game stays the same, and only the location changes.

I guess I have a couple more days to decide.

They never sent me an email. I noticed the charge on my credit card activity.
They blithely replied to me about my concerns, and I sent some back. Here's what I wrote, their response, and my second response to them. I want to see how they can justify this.

My first email:
Hi, I am subscribed as player Briar.

I knew my subscription was coming up for renewal on 9/2, and I checked on the Wizard 101 home site to see what my billing should be. It appeared to show as the $60 special rate, so I let the subscription auto-renew.

I checked my bank statement, and I was charged $79.95. Can I be credited for the difference? Was I supposed to un-subscribe and re-subscribe manually to get this $60/year rate?

Excuse me? Shouldn't we have been given some advance notice of that? Sure, Kenneth did warn us, but I don't think a player should have to inform other players. It was KingsIsle's responsibility, and they didn't warn us.

Do the charter subscribers get penalized for not knowing we had to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to get the special $60 rate? I'm sorry, but that just doesn't seem acceptable to me. The website made it appear that we would get the renewal at the special rate, so yes, it was misleading.

I am disappointed I have to eat the extra cost when I would have been able to take advantage of the special offer with advance notice. I have paid an additional $19.95 based on a customer service error.

Is there further recourse?

I received an e-mail response from them today, and they told me that they "couldn't turn back time" to offer me the $60 rate. I explained to them again how I looked at my account, and it looked like the total due was $60, which lead me to believe that I would be renewed at the promotional rate.

They did say that they credited my account with 10,000 crowns to make up for the difference between the promotional price and the regular rate. I told that was an unacceptable solution, as I have never purchased crowns in the past, and have no interest in using them now.

I again requested that they refund me $19.95, and if they will not do that, then I would like to cancel my subscription and receive a full refund of $79.95. I also told them that if they do not do one of these things, I will file a claim with my credit card company, and not pay the fee.

I also told them I questioned their ethics, and felt that they were misleading. I told them it was a bait and switch, and I told them I wondered how much extra money that Kings Isle would rake in on subscribers who didn't notice they were charged higher than the promo price that is advertised on the site, and showed up as your total when you looked at your account.

I also told them that I intend to file a report with the better business bureau if they do not solve this issue to my satisfaction. And I told them they need to learn something about customer service, and they should send out courtesy e-mails to subscribers when their renewal rate comes up.

Oh, and what I think is my kicker, I told them that it wasn't so much about the extra $20, as I could afford to pay it if I thought it was worth that price to the game. I told them that it is a moral issue, and that I do not want to support a company that misleads thier subscribers.

It's like a gym membership. They just keep charging you and charging you ;)

I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

I don't like the way they have their reply system set up. They have a spot where you have to type in your reply for it to register in their automated system. When I look at my sent items, my e-mail program deleted the lower half of the message, so my response might not have gone through.

I also don't like the way they say in their message that if they don't hear from you within 24 hours, they will assume that you are satisfied with their response. 24 hours isn't very much time to give you.

The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am with the customer service provided by Kings Isle. I really question the morals of this company, and I'm seriously considering writing them back again and telling them to just give me a refund or I will file a complaint with my credit card company.

Yes, they aren't very clear that it is recurring. I hadn't realized it either. Good thing your CC expired, or you would have had a nice $79.95 charge when you get your bill.

To those of you who have been having billing problems with KI, I am so sorry to hear. I have never bought a subscription, but my experience with their customer service has been good. It's hard to believe they would intentionally set up their payment site to mislead anyone, especially the loyal group who were their first subscribers. Perhaps with the game expansions and growth, it's becoming harder for the right hand to know what the left hand is doing. Really a shame.

I heard back from KingsIsle. They have refunded my money since they are not able to issue partial credits back. They told me that they will reinstate my account at the $60 rate if I choose. They told me that they would hate to lose a valued customer over a misunderstanding.

At this point, I'm leaning towards not renewing. I really am not happy with the way that this situation was handled, and I just don't know if I really want to support this company at this point. They could really use a course in customer service. I'm sure I can find other things to do with my $60-80.

I finally got the Mr. Lincoln who is aware of the issue and will offer a credit and re-bill, since they cannot do partial credits as Rolls stated in another post.

I would suggest you try contacting them about the original subscriber renewal glitch, mentioning that your friends were offered a credit and manual re-bill at the $60 rate and see what they say.

I think because this is the first batch of subscribers up for renewal, they found out the hard way that they screwed up. I think that they either learned from this or they didn't. I think I'll remove my info after I get the new rate and credit posted to my account.

Hi! If I remember correctly, the book has all the clues. First, light the braziers to (I think) storm, then go back to the book again for the order of the obelisks. There's a silly little poem type clue for you that says something like...the sun lights the tree that shades the snake that chases the beetle, or something similar. Good luck!

I have not heard anything more than what you probably already know:
• Four types at release: Brooms, Horses, Cats, and Dragons!
• Available in a variety of appearances that favor male and female styles.
• May be rented for 1-day or 7-days, or purchased permanently.
• 1-day rentals give 20% movement speed increase; 7-day and permanent purchases give 40% movement speed increase.
• May be purchased for in-game gold and Crowns from the new, upcoming Crown shop or Zeke.
• Available in October.

I went into the tower at first, and talked to an NPC who said that I need to play as a team of 4, and oh yeah, the boss cheats. I learned that the hard way when we almost beat him, and the minion he summoned killed us all with a meteor shower that cast 10,000 damage against all of us. :mad:

Perhaps that's one reason one of the "steeds" is a broom. Those riders can sweep behind the rest of us. Alternatively, I suppose the furniture stores could start carrying giant litter boxes for the riding cats (wonder if you can train a dragon to use one) or we'll have to go on a new quest to learn a "garbage relocation" spell that will keep the streets nice and tidy.

I'm a crowns player not subscribed and I'm on low graphics and low texture cause of a crappy video card. Tried changing to medium graphics though and still no prices.

Yep, I have it

I reported it on the test realm, and again after the upgrade on the support web site.

KI answered that they are looking at the problem and will get back to me if they nee more info.

I have not tried to change the graphics setting. I use high on all graphics settings. I am on on portable computer.

I will let you know if I get any news.

Here what I added on the Wizard101 thread about the Crowns Shop bug.


I found something interesting about this problem:
When I play Wizard101 I always use a "user account" on my computer.
Today I tried the "admin" account and the descriptions and prices were showing fine.
I tried it twice. Everytime, using the admin account the crowns shop was OK, and using the "user" account, the descriptions and prices were missing.
So it does not seem to be a graphics issue. I hope this helps.
I also updated my ticket from support with the same info.

I finished Katz Lab last night, as well as Smogger. I left a teleport mark hoping to be able to get back in and farm him, but I didn't use it right. Apparently you can only port to it after reentering the dungeon; not if you're outside.

Anyway, if anyone is currently farming Smogger, it would be wonderful if I could teleport to you and reset my mark. (Happy to help you farm, too!) I just can't take going through the whole instance again. :faint:

Seems we may have tracked down the problem and we are testing it internally to make sure that it fixes the issue with the missing text on the Crowns shop, without breaking something else.

Both crowns and subscription players have been receiving promotional emails from Wizard 101 today. Some of the emails imply that the mount will be rewarded for upgrading to a subscription, but the code is already right there in the email. All you have to do is enter it on the website.

The codes are only usable through Nov. 8th.

Sorry that I wasn't able to add you the other night. I'm not sure if I ever really made it past the orientation or not, plus I couldn't chat once it made my screen full-size for the game. I'm willing to give it a try though.

I'll second Jgoof. It was great to meet/see everyone last night.

We should have a social every few weeks. Maybe someone can host a party in one of their rooms, or maybe we can come up with a way to have a fun competion (like send two groups out to the same dungeon and see who finishes first or something).

I enjoyed seeing everyone last night. Now that we have houses, it would be fun to start meeting more regularly. I like the idea of "adventuring" together.

If anyone needs help, don't hesitate to call. My new little wizard is still just a child. But my primary is Grandmaster Life so I can always help keep a team healed in the trickier dungeons. Perhaps we could put a group together to tackle that new "cheating" boss sometime.

Hey! I did manage to beat that Briskbreeze Tower once and after many attempts prior, I do have some tips. The top level is the worst ever. He will interrupt your spells to steal an extra turn, in which he shields himself with a Tower Shield. Save pips so when his fourth turn comes around and he brings out his fire minions, someone can wipe those out QUICK! The will cast fire damage spells of 10,000 hit points and even the 85% shields won't save you. No, that's not a typo. heh Traps are basically useless against the big main boss, however on the battle that I was successful in, the boss wasn't using interrupts and didn't have those Tower Shields, so my guess is there is a pattern and that maybe one in 5 or so battles is easier than the others. Just my observation, I don't know if that's true or not. FWIW, I was playing with two Death GMs, I am Balance. The Fire wizard with us sadly didn't make it. The two Death wizards cast a lot of Wraith and Scarecrow, I believe.
I would be willing to give it another go, if anyone wishes to try it.

I am having trouble adding cards to my deck....ive clicked on them and added it....but when i battle the only cards i have are the 6 i started out with.....they will not let me add my new cards to the lower level where the 6 i can use are.....can someone help me?!

Hi,

Did you equip you deck? The lower level where the wand spells are id reserved for the gear spells.

To equip a deck, press B on the keyboard and click on the Deck tab. Select you deck and press the fist at the bottom.

JGoof is correct. You can't add spells to the lower part of the deck, only the upper part.

And in the example Starter Deck, do you see the cards on the right have only three pips available for each spell? That means the maximum amount you can add per spell would be three.

Other decks have different amounts you can add, but you are still limited to the amount the deck allows.

Which quest in Krok? Sometimes the quests require you to go to areas that aren't accessible to you yet, but you'll get there eventually.

I managed to finish Grizzleheim by being outside the instance at the right time for a stranger to fight alongside. It was still pretty rough with two of us, but we did it. I can always help on my Life character if you still need it.

My Balance wizard needs to defeat Plague Oni for her level 48 school quest. That's what I'm currently working on.

I know if I get a quest and don't complete it I can, but if I'm level 50, could I go back to an earlier zone and still get the quests not in my quest log and complete them?

Yes, you can. I have done this a few times when I have been running through areas I thought I had completed and discovered there were additional quests.

Thanks. That was bothering me because whenever I read about new low-level quests being added to the game, it was always followed by "you should create a new character to do the quests".

On another note, I'm almost ready to head to Kroktopia or however it's spelled. I just need to find a group for the Sunken City. I can't take those bosses solo.

Celestia, the next big world in the Spiral, is now on the live servers. Level cap has been raised from 50 to 60. There are new secondary spell schools, new pets, new reagents, etc.

Time to dust off your grandmasters and start them on the new quest line.

I've heard varying times for the download. I did it around 5 P.M. Eastern yesterday and it took about 30 minutes. No trouble logging on. A bit laggy in places though so I think the servers were under some stress.

I've discovered that going solo isn't really an option in Celestia. I have a secondary account, fortunately with another Grandmaster who finished Malistaire. But I didn't start her with my main character, so she's a little behind on quests.

My original Life wizard is in high demand as a battlefield medic. The other grandmaster I'm playing with is Storm, so when I've ported to myself (LOL), it really made a huge difference in mutual survival.

I'm at a point where I've discovered the newest crafting quest, for the Grandmaster Artisan badge. I bought all the recipes to convert reagents necessary, so we'll see if that helps.

Sorry, Saffron. If you want new quests, you'll have to either purchase crowns and buy individual areas or purchase a subscription.

Thank you in advance, Saffron :confused3The quests do run out pretty fast in the free areas. If you're not sure about subscribing, you might try starting out with $5 worth of crowns, which is enough to let you unlock three areas permanently. You'll need Cyclops Lane and Firecat Alley in order to finish the main questline in Wizard City. Then you can spend the rest on the first area of Krokotopia, or if you prefer, Colossus Blvd. or Sunken City, which are side areas and not required for progressing through the game. (Sunken City is a short and challenging instance.)

If you'd rather not buy areas or subscribe, there are still fun things to do as a free player, such as gardening, pet training, crafting, and buying/decorating houses, although it takes longer to earn gold in Wizard City than it does in the rest of the Spiral.
