Know where I can see some pics of some of their updated rooms? Any idea on how much has been refurbished?

When did this remodelling start? I have photos but they may not be recent enough.

Rehabs at OKW are pretty invisible, usually. Slight changes in carpet patterns, a fresh coat of the same color paint, furnishings replaced with fabrics close to the original colors/patterns, and new appliances. Everything looks fresh, but not a major noticable change.

Newer type sleeper sofa, newer mattress on the bed. No other changes that I noticed and I'm in a one bedroom living room right this minute.

I've read references to updates, but the pics I've seen of OKW rooms have somewhat outdated 80ish decor.

What comes to my mind is pastels - Miami Vice style! :goodvibes

I don't think they are decorated in any outdated style! The rooms are done in soft pastel colors - mostly peaches - and light oaks that reflect the style of Key West, Florida. Personally, I think the rooms are among the nicest on property.

I guess it was mostly some of the accessories like lamps, bedding, etc. Not so much the theming.

The theming is Key West. What were you expecting? Thankfully, they didn't feel the need to put Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse all over the villa. It's beautiful. Peach, turquoise colors like at the beach. Outside colors of very light pink, very light green, very light yellow and very light blue - all pastels. Inside the rooms are painted in the same colors and they seem almost white.

When you ride the bus from the theme parks back to OKW, they tell you that you are going to OKW, where the gingerbread style and pastel colors of Key West have been replicated.

8 year old ds LOVED that line.....we rode the bus endlessly last trip, and now he repeats it wherever we go....and when he spots any sort of 'gingerbread architecture'.....:rotfl:

I think the TVs were replaced not too long ago with the regular CRTs, probably the next major rehab cycle will replace the TVs with LCDs.

Just got back from a wonderful week at OKW and I choose to go there specifically for the Key West theme. I love it and don't consider it 80's decor at all! Our GV had the new couch and the old style love seat. On our towel day, they did however deliver 4 brand new living room pillows, 2 green/turquoise and 2 light coral. I have to say, I've missed the pillows!

I LOVE Old Key West. I stay there frequently because I enjoy it. However, I gotta agree about some of the decor. But it's the bedspreads I don't like. I really like the rest of the room decor. But I think the bedspreads are ugly. JMO. My brother lives about 20 minutes from Key Largo and I've been to Key West a few times. I think they could have done much better on the bedspreads. :)

OKW so far is our favorite resort, however, we have only stayed at SSR and OKW. We just loved how relaxing a feel it had. The patio is wonderful. We were in a 1bd in Dec and we were right on the river, it was fantastic. We spent many a breakfast out there.

Yep, Key West has it's own TIMELESS theming. It's not the '80s.

TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought the exact same thing when I first saw the theme - GOLDEN GIRLS. I like it but that show sticks in my skull when I see OKW. My favorite late Great Aunt watched that show so it brings back some happy memories for me:cool1:

We were there last spring and were lucky enough to get one of the remod. 1 bedroom villas. It was our first stay, so I really can't compare to before. All the appliances were new (ceramic top stove, ice maker in fridge, etc.) I was thinking they were LCD TV's (at least in the living room). I do have pictures, I will try to dig them up and post a couple.

OKW has always had the ice maker in the refrigerator. But I forgot about the ceramic cook top. It was nice. TV's were still the older CRT type. This was last week. Bedspreads were new, but still the same pattern.
