Just in case you are seriously considering background music,
PLEASE don't do it! It's really distracting. :worried:

I agree! I like the vibe of you guys just sitting around the table having a casual conversation...don't add a bunch of music that will make it seem "over-produced".

Like I said on another thread. The background music makes it difficult to hear people speaking.

I don't understand why the other podcasters do this. I would listen to them if they didn't do this.

Anyway, my two cents.

I don't understand why the other podcasters do this.

I don't understand it either, but I suppose if they have always done it, people are used to it. Of the few other podcasts I've tried though, I didn't even make to the end of the show with the ones that had background music, it just drove me crazy.

I like the music they put on, but i can just listen to Dis Radio to hear it. I like music on other podcasts (esspecially Inside the Magic) but it such a different style, i don't think it would work on the DisUnplugged!

One of the reasons I love the podcast is because it is just a group of friends sitting around talking. While I might have background music on sometimes, it does not change on the topic.

Please don't put any background music in the podcast! It is so distracting, and I won't want to run to my computer and download it every Tuesday morning...

I've only been able to pop in here briefly for the past week and half or so (I haven't been able to listen to the last 2 podcasts either!) but I'm back now and saw this thread and must say.....a (LOUD) NO! to the background music. Seriously, I love the show as it is. A sprinkling of music here and there for effect maybe but, no. No background music. Please, for the love of Pete (:rotfl: ), no background music! (I don't know....Did I make myself clear enough??)

I think Pete is only going to play background music when John speaks since he did ask for it. :rotfl2: What better excuse can he get to spend more of John's money.:rolleyes1 :thumbsup2 After all John can not complain that Pete is spending money if it's exp. for him. :rotfl:

That would be seriously cool. Maybe Kevin could sing background for John. :rotfl2:

Actually one of the reasons I love the podcast is how well produced it is. The sound quality is amazing and the editing is beyond professional. All members of the crew always sound great. One of the things I've marveled at is whenever there is a comment about sound quality (for example a few people noted a while back that Julie's mic seemed to be a bit loud on a few podcasts) it was immediately and quietly corrected. I can't imagine how much time it takes to edit these productions.

If you really want to realize how much of a professional job Pete does, I think you only have to look at the Dreams Unlimited Trivia Challenge. I watched some of Julie's appearances. For someone who (I believe) had never been on camera before, she easily outclassed the talent I regularly see on our local TV stations and the larger market (Pittsburgh) to our north.

When you add in the quality and quantity of material presented each week, what we get each week is amazing. Thank you podcast crew!

(So when can we expect Kevin to start singing?) ::yes::

Kevin singing? Now that is something we have to hear.:rotfl2: Next thing you know WO will be calling in and they will be singing together. :scared1:

Good idea Regina. I think you are on to something there.

After all they must listen or they might lose there audience. popcorn::

Than again we are all addicted :lovestruc to the podcast and they know it.

They have such a good time picking on you as well Regina. :cutie: They can't help themselves.

Yeah but video would be so much better Ursula. :rotfl2: Than Regina can schedule another 7am breakfast with the characters and Cory or someone can tape it all.:woohoo: Than we can all see what Kevin is really like early in the morning. :surfweb: Wouldn't that make a cheery video for us all to watch.:rotfl2: Than when they are all done with breakfast Kevin can sing his show tunes with help from some friends.:dance3: If he is very lucky and a very good boy some very special friends of ours might join in as well. ::MinnieMo pluto: :donald: :tigger: :mickeyjum

:thumbsup2 I agree.

When they played the condolences on Bob from the other Podcasts, DH and I just looked at each other and broke out in laughter over the other Podcasts' choice of music (sorry Bob). :lmao:

I know they have all kind of new gadgets/sounds to play with (Sorry Regina for you having to be the guinea pig on the phone line). I like the "rawness" of the current Podcast. I hope they don't go too techy on us. It is nice to hear Bob's voice now and then. :thumbsup2 "Don't you know nuthin'" ;) They can play that all night and it makes DH and I roll over and laugh. :rotfl2:

It will be interesting when they answer calls live. However, DH and I have listened to other Podcasts with hotlines and it can be VERY uncomfortable. Some of the callers needed a personality (if you know what I mean). From being on the DISboards for a couple of years now, I know we have all kinds of characters on here. I'm curious to see/listen who will call. :listen:

I love the background music on the WDW Radio podcast (I'm surprised so many here don't like it and/or find it distracting), but I like my DIS Unplugged just fine without it. I seriously doubt Pete has any plans to add it.

I never thought anything about the podcast not having any music until a few weeks ago when I listened to a few of the other Disney podcasts. I have to agree with the majority of posters here that not having any music on the podcast is a good thing. The music sounds a little corny and would distract
from, at least for me, the podcast.

Hey Pete,

You should load up the first few bars of the "Entertainment Tonight" theme song, in your new magic box, and everytime John starts to talk, hit him with a little! Where is John Tesh when you need him!!

Seriously, leave it alone, you guys are great "sans" tunage.

You can't improve on perfection . . ..

Ya'll have got to be kidding me. The background music was absolutely a hysterical addition to the show. :rotfl2: I loved it and outright laughed everytime Pete hit John with the harp stuff.

I think that using this background music in a comical way would be a fantastic form of entertainment.

And - being a relatively new listener - I would be so excited to be on the "ground floor" (or whatever that term is) of the beginning of a new "inside joke" on the podcast.

Pete, I think you know what you are doing. My vote is to keep doing it.
