Seems he has 2 nodules on his lung and one lymph node that showed hot on the scan.. This means more treatment, but for now, Tom is going to hold off and enjoy summer a bit. He will be checked monthly by his oncologist and of course if he starts losing weight or develops a cough, then we will start sooner....but for now we are going to enjoy the summer, swim in the pool, and have lots of friends and of course family visiting.
Thanks everyone for all the prayers, I truly believe we are blessed as some never even have months with this kind of cancer, we have had 3 years and we are going for as many as we can..
I am tired, we just got home 10:45pm... heading to bed, but wanted to make sure I told my C & C friends the results..

I'm embarassed to admit I've been watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians on the E! Network but I actually learned something from it. In one of his motivational speeches Bruce Jenner was talking about lying, cheating and stealing your way through life but in a profound way. Loosely interpreted to apply to my life, and also Tom's:
Lie: Lie to yourself (and each other) about your doubts. This is not to say you shouldn't face your fears realistically, but that this is no time for negativity. Cancer is not for wimps.
Cheat: Cheat the odds. Sounds like he's doing that already. 3 years really is good. I know it's nowhere near enough but it sounds like he's got a lot of fight in him and he's not done swinging yet.
Steal: Steal every single bit of joy from life you possibly can. Don't wait for it to be given to you, just take it. Savor it, share it, and don't hold back. There aren't any do-overs. We don't have to be terminally ill to live every day as if it's our last. 50 years of living life to it's fullest isn't a bad way to live. :)
Whoever said it was being overly simplistic I know but it really is true. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
My continued prayers that he continues to feel ok long past the summer

Just wanted to add my thoughts and prayers for you both. You are a source of great comfort and strength to many here, please know that you inspire and touch me and many others through your kindness. May you feel the loving thoughts that are being sent your way- and find strength and comfort being returned to you tenfold.

We have made arrangements to go to WDW... the whole family, including our grandson, Thomas, although he will be young and not remember. We will remember him there with his Grampy and the rest of us. Hopefully we can hold off the monster for a while and let Tom see his grandson in his favorite place... this means, us, the Mommy, Daddy, Baby Thomas and the two Aunties, that is our family as of now and we are hoping to get Tom strong enough even after chemo so that we can all be together in our favorite place...
Not meant to sound maudlin, more of a happy thought and something to look forward to.....

Planning a trip right now will be the best thing you all could do. To have something else to focus on is so helpful. I hope you guys have a good time together. My thoughts are with you a lot, which is funny to me,because I never met you. But I do know how you're feeling right now.
take care,
CJ

Continued prayers for healing for Tom and prayers for you both as you do your best to cope with the beast. A trip to WDW will do your whole family a lot of good. Time with family at such a special place is the best medicine.

I tried to post a while ago, but it wasn't happening. I do keep thinking of you both, but whatever I post seems redundant.
Go enjoy your vacation and make memories for all of you. They are priceless, but then you know that already.
Take Care.

That is wonderful, gives you all something fun to think about and look forward to. Your grandson will have pictures and parents to tell him about the trip when he gets older...he'll "remember.":lovestruc
My mom has been living with ovarian cancer for 3 years and always talked about going to WDW with us and our dd but we never did it...now she doesn't get around too well and isn't up for it. This is a very very special gift your giving each other and your family.
