What do people do with their sat nav systems whilst they are in the parks?

Do you hide them in the car or do you take them into parks in your bags? If you do take them into the parks do you leave the mounts on the windscreen or do you hide them?

sorry for so many questions - can't you tell we've never used a sat nav before and worried about getting it stolen.

One more question please - if people leave them hidden in the cars are the systems ok with the heat. We are going in August and would imagine the temperature in the cars would be immense.

Thanks everyone

How far you staying from the parks? Satnav might be a help to find your hotel from airport or if you are going away from the parks but I have never needed satnav for the parks, all well signed.
If I was to take it I would put it in the boot, they must be built for the heat surely?

if i were you id put it in the boot, its also a good idea to remove the suction cup as these days people know youve got a sat nav from the suction cup :thumbsup2

The other option is to hire a locker.....at least it will keep it cool,

I hid ours in the boot and shoved the suction cup/holder under the front seat - the main unit won't work without the holder :)

It was extremely hot but it worked okay afterwards :thumbsup2

Once, in Italy, our TomTom decided to rebel against the heat but it was an older version (not sure if this makes a difference) and I just found the re-set hole, underneath, re-set it and it was fine.
It didn't lose any of the planned journeys, as I'd feared, either :goodvibes

I took it with us, to the parks, as we usually went out to eat afterwards, or nipped to the nearest Publix, and my sense of direction is shocking!

The First Place A Car Thief Will Look For You Hiding Anything Is The Glove Box Followed Buy Looking Under The Seats
Put You Sat Nav In The Boot Along With The Suction Holder
As This Gives A Clear Sign To Them That You Have One In The Car

I purposley did not want to use a suction cup with my sat nav that would leave a tell tale mark on the window, so paid extra for a wighted stand that has a non slip bottom that you stand on the ledge behind the steering wheel and then the sat nav sits on that (i was a bit dubious that it would move around alot, but it has not moved once, even when taking hte sharpest of corners :goodvibes) I put the stand under the passenger seat and the sat nav in its case (actually a digital camera case) normally in the boot. We used ours in Florida last year and don't remember it being excessivlely hot after a day in the car, it was a big help and I learnt a couple of new short cuts, taking it with us this year as well

Basically do what you would do at home ie never leave valuables showing in the car or anything that indicates you have.

We just put the whole Tom Tom unit in the boot, covered over and it was fine. They are a really valuable tool, especially if you want to go to somewhere that isn't well sign posted or you get lost. You can set them to take you home ie to your hotel.

Though they are not without problems, ours insisted we had reached the Belz Outlet (Prime) when we were still on the I4, yes we could see it and the car park but obviously couldn't stop.:) We just went to the next junction off and it redirected us.
