Mickey Color Challenge
http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Yzerbear19.jpg
Hello. Yzerbear here with another DIS Digital scrapbook challenge. This challenge is inspired by one of my favorite colors: RED. :) Which also happens to be one of the colors found in Mickey. For this challenge Mickey is going to be your inspiration, but not your subject.
Requirements:
1. You can only use the colors specified below. You can recolor items as needed, but only use the colors listed below. Metallic silver or gold items like staples are fine.
2. The layout CANNOT be about Mickey or Minnie.
3. Use only black and white photos.
4. Use at least one ribbon.
5. Have at least one Mickey head somewhere. Ex: brad, button, stitches, etc.
EDIT: Just wanted to clarify some questions, that your layout should be Disney related. It doesn't have to be from or about the parks, but should be related to Disney in some ways.
http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/MickeyChallenge.jpg
Participation Gift:
For participating you will receive a set of Disney theme wordart created by myself that is pretty versatile and can be used for non-Disney layouts.
http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Preview.jpg
Two winners will be selected: one selected by the judges and one randomly drawn.
Layouts need to be posted by 11:00 ET on June 17, 2008.
Here is my layout:

Totally cool challenge. I'm going to try to do this one tonight. The gift is awesome, too! I need to make a "package" for the next time I try to design a freebie. Very cool.
Should we put a link to this thread in the last challenge so everyone finds it? I know there are a lot of people that are lazy like I am and they just check their subscribed threads and forget to look for the new ones!!

We've worn gray Mickey shirts each year on "Disney-MGM" day. :) I always know that gray pictures are from that park which makes it easier when you go back to look at pics. Also, we always pretty much wear red in Magic Kingdom, green in Animal Kingdom, and white in Epcot. We have blue shirts and other gray shirts that we might use on the 5th or 6th day if we have one. This pretty much evolved over time.
Actually, the shirt Jake has in the 2004 picture has been worn by Katie in all the years from 2005 - 2008. I was finally able to get a matching shirt off ebay for Jake and he's worn it ever since. I'll have to get a gray shirt for Katie for next trip. It's hard to find the ones that don't have the colored rings (ringer) around the collar and sleeves.
Thanks! You have a great eye for details!

Yzerbear -- Thanks for the fun challenge. Cool LO. I love the title with the gel action alpha. Very cool. You're welcome. And thank you. :) I had tried a couple other alphas for the title, but I liked the gel one the best. I had never really used that action before so I was pleased. I have so many of the dang actions that I never use or have forgotten I have.
Yzerbear19 - Your layout is a great way to start an awesome challenge. :cutie:
Marilee Thank you. When I was thinking of the challenge I wasn't sure what I wanted to use for mine, but then I hit upon the idea for using the EPCOT pictures, mostly because of the colors in the photo (ironic isn't it then that I made them BW :lmao:).
I really wanted to create a challenge where you would have to maybe think outside your box a little, look at things in a different way. I think its fun to use the Mickey colors for more than just Mickey and its so cool to see how many different people use the same colors.
If I haven't responded to your layout or sent you your participation prize, just let me know, but I think I've got everyone so far. Keep the awesome layouts coming! :)

This one was a little more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I knew which pic I was going to use, and a vague idea of the things I was going to use, but then I started adding things and couldn't stop. I finally made myself stop, though. This is my ds the first time we went to D-land in 2002. I wanted a pic of him in his Mickey ears and this was the pose I got...I LOVE THIS PIC!!!! He's my "GQ" guy! LOL

Our DIS challenges are all Disney related. If you don't have something from the parks, a kid in a Disney costume or a Disney collection or something else Disney from home will work too!

I have been gone off an on for the past week and leave for The World (via a few days in Sarasota) next Friday, but I really want to do this challenge! I will work on a layout today.
Am I understanding that this LO does not have to be about Disney stuff, just include a Mickey head shape somewhere?
Thanks for hosting, Yzerbear, and great participation prize!

Do they have to be Disney pictures?
Yes. Your layout needs to be Disney related, doesn't have to be pictures from the parks like Fran said it could be kids wearing a Disney costume or I think Britt one week had one about a Disney dinner she attended. Doesn't have to be from or about the parks, just related to Disney in some way. :)

Nope, it needs to be Disney related as usual. The Mickey head is just one of the requirements, but it should eb Disney related.
Thanks for hosting, Yzerbear, and great participation prize! Thank you. Glad you like it. :) I wasn't sure since I had never really made any pieces of wordart before, so I was kind of nervious posting it.

In my short time as a digi scrapbooker, I've learned that color challenges are really tough for me. I knew I wouldn't get this done until the last minute:

I have not been as active the last two weeks because of my computer crashing and then getting a new one, but I have still been here and loving the lay outs you all come up with!
If you need a host for next week, I am happy to help volunteer my time, or any time I can, really :)
I love these challenges!

Coming in right under the wire -- here is my entry. Simple, but I think I got all the rules in there. I struggled with this one, because I don't use a lot of B&W pics and I didn't want to do a layout I wasn't going to use for my book (I only have so much time to scrap and I NEED to get this book finished!). So, after much deliberation, I decided to do this as the final page for my book. That way, I don't have to do a page next to it using B&W, too! :rotfl: Anyway, here it is! Click for credits (I tried typing them in to SmugMug this time for a change).

Britt- That is gorgeous! I think we posted at the same time! How funny! I thought I had a lot of credits until I saw yours! But I hardly used anything on my page and I still managed to use five kits! I love how you used pink. I NEVER would have thought to use that much pink!
ETA, I'm up for hosting another challenge soon. It sounds like we have a few volunteers, so let me know where I fall in the line. I'm working on a little participation gift for it!! I'm sooo excited!!

I can't see a lot of the images at work, so I'm taking time here at home to comment on all the great layouts finally!
Yzerbear19: thank you for the challenge, first of all! I really love seeing the two photos of Epcot because I remember it the old way and just saw it the new way this past year. I like how your layout highlights the change!
Bernie-Ann: I had to look close for the Mickey in the layout and I really like that! The layout uses such a neat color red in it and I like how the titling is from Disney...but not the characters in the photos.
Sleepingbean: I have to admit...I want to see that picture in COLOR! Great layout.
susan0326: My girl...you know how I love this layout. I hope sometime we'll have that many photos to showcase like that...and I love you for the great idea it gives me for future trips!
marileeh: I love all the doodle-y elements on the page: the arrows, boxes, and, of course, mouse ears. The sports pics are just perfect for B&W treatment, too.
DisneyCruiser2008: She is just adorable! Perfect layout for these cute pics!
carsmom53: That photo in B&W really makes him look like a member of the original Mouseketeers! SO adorable.
Fran98765: How perfect is the rocket themed stuff with those pictures? I love it!
tgmousechick: I really love that alpha...and your layout is so neat with each of the park's icons on it. It would be a perfect title page.
sconnell: You got such a great photo there! I love your journalling on this page and the different font work in the title.
Caitsmama: The building looks so stately in your layout. Beautiful framing of that picture. I bet that was a fantastic girls' trip.
MakingScrapbooks: Love how you put the mouse ear stitching on top of the photo to draw the eye in like that!
Pooh46: The dog tags with Mickey are adorable...and selective color there is great!
BriarRose59: What a sweet, feminine layout! She is a doll!
kswm30b: Your layout and journalling and titling make me grin and remember my trip fondly!

Very smart. Yep, Pink was one of the colors. :) LOVE this layout! Its beautiful! Though it makes me sad because IASW was closed when we went to DL in April. :( I had really wanted to ride it since that was my mom's favorite ride when she went in 1969. Great job!

Yeah, just ask the photopass photographer to take one for you. They will gladly oblige. I got the idea from a photopass guy on the trip before this one (Sept '07). We did this pose in Epcot on that trip. Next time I want to do one with each park icon if I can remember!!

Our Favorite - My sister and I were unanimous with our decision on this. We both loved the layout. Without further ado our favorite was . . . Pooh46!!!
Random Draw - Terri24601
You both win a kit by Britt at Britt-ish Deigns!!! Congratulations to Pooh46 and Terri24601
Honorable Mention - If there was an award for best journaling or story, it would go to Kswm30b. Her layout made both my sister and I laugh. My sister thought the subject was really cool and outside of the box.
Thank you to everyone who participating. All of the layouts were awesome. It was a difficult decision. It has been fun! Remember, you are all winners! ;) :)
Britt will be hosting the next challenge. Look for a link to that one soon. :)

Hey, I used pink! You have to look for it, but the fairy dust has pink hearts. So there. :P I love pink, I had to get it in somehow if it was allowed!

Why isn't there an award for that? j/k  Thanks to both you and your sister!! BTW, I kicked myself for only catching the last bit of PUSH's antics on video. I should have been taping earlier, but at least I caught the "wait for me!" part, haha.
