Actually, that's where we're headed tomorrow  ! We're taking the kids on their first tour of the north shore of Lake Superior, despite the numerous times we've taken them all the way up to Grand Marais.

Now lets hope it will stop raining long enough to get the tent set up :scared1: ....

Stone Mountain Park - Memorial Day Weekend

Our tent:

Mountain view from our screen house (I had to underexpose the picture
to bring out the mountain in the background, it was a bright sunny day):

Notice the unlevel ground (fortunately it wasn't as bad as some other sites):

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164/TentCampingMom/2008-MayStoneMountain-3.jpg

Here's a little tip if you ever go during a holiday weekend and
want a good spot for the Laser Show: Take your camp chairs
to the lawn early afternoon and grab your spot. We tied a helium
balloon on the chair so we can find it at night (highly recommended):

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r164/TentCampingMom/2008-MayStoneMountain-4.jpg

This is not crowded YET, it was late afternoon and people
were coming in until 9:30 (when the laser show started).
Toward the front of us:

Have a great time!! We've spent LOTS of time up on the North Shore! There are beautiful National Forest campgrounds up there!

We also love Grand Marais -- we would move there in a second if there was work for us!

We really like it. It's our place to go when we can't get into the Fort. If you can try and get site 348 like we had I think it is one of the best sites in the place. It does get a little expensive$ Everything is extra. Very very nice place and very well kept up most of the sites are privately owned. Lots to do it's a dude ranch.

3gr8kids, hubby and I have been to both Normandy Farms and Wells Beach. We try to get to Wells at least once a year, we LOVE it there. There is so much to do in that area, the beach is great. We like to take the trolly down to Ogonquit and walk on the Marginal Way. The restaurants are so good, lots of fresh seafood. I enjoy the outlet shopping in Kittery and hubby likes the Trading Post, so we both are happy. We also like to go to the Nubble Lighthouse and just sit and listen to the ocean and birds and people watch, it is so peaceful and serene. I could go on and on, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.

We are looking at a week in Wells in September. Can't wait!

That's too funny ~ we do EXACTLY the same things when in Wells (trolley to Ogunquit, walk Marginal Way, outlet shopping and trading post in Kittery, Nubble Lighthouse). My kids (and I) LOVE the candy shop at the end of Marginal Way.
How is Wells in September? I'm thinking pretty chilly at night? We are going to Sea-Vue Campground for a week in July so we can spend our days on Drakes Island. My DSis & her fam, DBro & his fam, and another DSis have been going there the same week for the past 10 years and we decided it was high time we join them all. ::yes::
I definitely want to get back to Normandy Farms this summer/fall, too. I was trying to talk my DH into getting Patriots tix and camping there for one of the games since they are open year round. :woohoo:

I've always threatened my wife that eventually I would be the crazy guy driving a VW bus to nowhereland.. When cleaning the basement she would say, "oh, we should throw out all these rusty forks",
"NO, WE'RE KEEPING THEM FOR THE VWVAN!!"

Either she got tired of the nonsense, or wanted me to eat crow -she relented.. "ok, buy your van thing... when we get stuck, you're pushing."

I've had it for over a year now. it's rusty, it has umteen million miles on it, a stove, beer fridge, sink, sleeps 4 in 2 double beds, gets 24mpg on the highway and is the same size as a sedan. and it just keeps going and going and going...
Top it off that its actually FUN to drive and you people give you the wierdo look.. it's a 10!! :hippie:

They closed a couple of beaches up here on the vineyard yesterday and today because of a great white shark spotting. Can you say "Jaws"? :scared1: This thing was huge - I think they said about 20 feet long. Judging from the video footage, it looked at least that.

Here's the thread I was looking for. Sorry, my pics are in the other thread. Here's one of our set up at Roger's Campground in Lancaster, NH. It's a very nice little campground. Nothing special going on, but good times and relaxation. All sites are pull thru, and a full hook up is $35 a night. This is site 58. We love this site because it's on the end of a row so it's bigger, and the dumpsters are across the way so it is easy to get rid of trash.

Here are a couple of pictures from our camping weekend at Gifford Pinchot State Park (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/giffordpinchot.aspx) in south-central PA. Nice park with a huge campground. Convenient to Lancaster, Hershey and Gettysburg areas.

We set up on site 231 (electric site) and my in-laws were two spots up on 233. In retrospect, I should have grabbed 233 as there was nowhere to anchor my screen room into on 231 since the pad was to the side and not to the rear of the site (I improvised though).

Here is our site at The Lantern Resort&Campground in Jefferson, NH. This place was great! It is diagnol to Santa's Village, which is a fun little park to go to, and has a beautiful view of the White Mountains. The people here were extremely friendly. We stayed in a "super site" but even the regular sites were good sized. All sites were grass, and there were tons of things for the kids to do. My kids thought it was so awesome that you could hear the radio underwater.:rotfl: This was site #65, see all the space between us and our neighbors...

Is that Old Federal? If so, you were lucky to "borrow" another site, it is usually full on weekends and they are soooo strict there! We have never camped there but my mom and aunt love to go there for long weekends. Looks like Old Federal anyway, but most of the campgrounds on Lanier look the same...DRY! Maybe the rain today and a little from FAY will help!:confused3

Anvil Campground, Williamsburg, VA - I don't recommend this campground to anyone. As if the train rolling through during the middle of the night isn't enough - you have to share campsites. Apparently the sites were once pull-thru, now 2 trailers must back in thus sharing a site. You're just basically sitting on top of your neighbor. Once was enough here.

Here is our site in Natural Bridge. I liked this campground because it was shady and wooded and felt like CAMPING. The pool was very clean and everyone in the area was SOOO nice (it seems like everyone gets nicer as soon as we leave NY state). The sites were on quite a hill and were "tiered", so much so that as we were walking down the hill towards our camper we were glad that we washed the top of it!

Cons...apparantly Friday is "kareoke night" at the NB KOA. They BLASTED kareoke from 7pm to 11pm. We tried to turn in early and DH was able to (I hated him) but I tossed and turned while some inebriated person tried to sing "Family Tradition" by Hank Williams Jr. Probably would have been a good time had I been in a different frame of mind!:thumbsup2

If I'm not mistaken, the Townsend KOA has raised their prices even more this year. I doubt we'll be staying there again. There are several others close.

Townsend is the best area to stay if you are only going to see the Smokies. If you plan on going to Pigeon Forge or Gatlingburg often, then I'd choose somewhere else. We stayed at Clabough's on Wear Valley Road last August when we went to Dollywood. It's a nice campground just off the main road in Pigeon Forge. A trolley runs through there that will take you to Gatlinburg or areas in PF. We never used it, but know quite a few people that would rather use the trolleys instead of driving.

Yes the prices have gone up, but since for us it is only an hour drive up 321 from Maryville(Knoxville), we will probably still go for quick get aways(next summer is all ready reserved actually). We were on site 11 and my folks were on site 12 DDad has a 40ft Fiver and was fine, but we did eventually switch where we parked the trucks(I'm bet some people were wondering how he pulled that thing with a Ram 1500)

Hungry Mother Sate Park in VA, April 08. We met up with DBIL and DSIL for their first trip in a camper. It was a quick trip, only 2 days just to help them learn how to set up/tear down so we didn't explore much. We did rent canoes one day and fished from the back of their site. Sites are water and electic only, they were building a new bathhouse that looked nice and should be open now(loop b I think).

Here's a pic from one of my favorite campgrounds, Mama Gertie's (http://www.mamagerties.com/) near Asheville, NC, a little town called Swanannoa. Lot's of good reviews here (http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/North_Carolina/Swannanoa.html) (scroll down to Mama's review). I didn't take a whole lot of pics, I was too 'busy' relaxing. We have been there 3-4 times and love it. Part of it's charm is that it is perched on a mountainside and heavily wooded. This first pic shows just how steep the slope of the campground is, the MH up the hill has it's floor at about our roof level (or window tops, I guess). But, the paved pad is level to within one inch, according to the owner, and I believe it. Pretty impressive. But boy, it is steep driving in.

This is where I like to camp:

It looks like a brigade level TOC. I wouldn't want to be here because they didn't remote their antennas - an artillery strike waiting to happen - WAIT - this is probably in Iraq or A-stan - forget that - they don't have that capability.

I spent more time than I care to remember in places very similar to this - I about lived in 577s for a long, long time. I still hear radio chatter in the background if I listen closely. eeeerie......

http://peoc3t.monmouth.army.mil/connecting_soldiers/images/toc.jpg

M-577 = command carrier - here's a picture - very old - of one with the extension up. They haven't changed much. A Brigade Combat Team will usually establish a TOC (Tactical Operations Center) - it's usually 3 577s, a 113 and a few hummers with extensions and other tents used to battle track and command and control a brigade. Lots of fun and confusion. I miss it

Just got back from an overnight at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL. Sad that it was only one night, but that's all the time away hubby and I could manage this time, and we live close enough to make it feasible.

We had a great time - I would highly recommend this campground as a "vacation at the beach" spot.

One drawback to this place is the fact that it's right off of busy Hwy. 98, and you can hear traffic going by from the campground, which of course wouldn't be a problem in an RV with its own air conditioner going. In the tent, it was a little bothersome at first, but we stopped hearing it before too long.

Also, the campsites are covered with gravel instead of sand, which makes for a neater campsite, but is uncomfortable for walking around inside the tent. I was fine as long as I had my slippers on. We sleep on a nice air mattress, but I would hate to lay directly over that sharp gravel with just a sleeping bag and the floor of a tent between me and it.

Now, having got those couple of minor problems mentioned, let me show you how beautiful this place is. Sorry about the low quality of the photos - they were all taken on my phone.

Here is our empty site -

It only took about 5 or 7 minutes from our campsite to the beach, all on a nice boardwalk so nothing to hurt your feet.

We have the same tent as you guys, 19x10 megellan from academy sports....nice & roomy and I can stand up in it while getting dressed.

That's exactly why we ended up with such a big tent just for the 2 of us - it was the only one we could find that hubby could stand up and walk around in. I like having the extra space in there, though. We only use 1 of the room dividers, at the far end, for a "dressing room", and have all the rest of that space for a nice big living room/bedroom. :thumbsup2

Shannone, we took the tour of that campground in 03 when we bought our first TT. I like everything about it except for the greasy closer they brought in after the tour. We ended up walking out after being insulted and I tore up my free weeks camping coupon.

Yeah, we didn't buy into it either. It's an ROD resort and we can get $5 a night camping for up to 3 weeks a year there as ROD members. The sites are our home park are much bigger...and it's even closer to home :thumbsup2

This is one of My favorite places to camp. It's a State Park (I think) in Northwest Florida (Munson) and it called Cold Water Recreation. It's a horse facility with stables, paddocks and plenty Marked Trails. It's really nice to get away from it all and just relax! They have creek and canoe renting close by.

LOVE this place. :lovestruc We used to vacation in Glen as well...my parents had a condo there. They sold it a number of years ago, as my dad had a stroke it's an almost 8 hour drive from where they live on Long Island. He used to fly his own plane, so it was convenient then..but not once they had to drive. Anyway...we have driven through this campground several times..and it is BEAUTIFUL! We have always wanted to bring our camper there. We have been doing a seasonal site in upstate NY for the last few years, but we're pulling out this weekend..and hoping to do some towing next summer. My husband absolutely LOVES NH...and when he see's your photos, I have a feeling, he might be going straight to Glen Ellis,..instead of home here to Long Island.
Looks like you had a fabulous time. There is nothing quite like autumn in New England. :thumbsup2

We brought his quitar to the Fort in August as well, but it does tend to take up some valuable real estate in the trailer, and you have to be really careful about what get's put near it! Kind of like eggs.

Re: Kumbaya - Justin is into music that's a little more, wellll, heavy. He hung out with the uncles and played along with some Metallica and AC/DC. Once they tried to show him some Fleetwood Mac or Beatles, he was outta there! Justin's band was contacted and invited to a local battle of the bands competition next month in Worcester. Sounds like a fairly big deal, and we'll keep you updated. They had two shows earlier this year in a dive bar in one of our local mill towns and word got around.

Was visiting with the folks on Friday and we went through some photos of trips taken in Egypt. Seeing that it's a cold and wintery day here, I wanted to post a few to see if it brightens anyone else's day. These are scans of just a few of thousands they took while in Egypt between 1980 and the late 1990s. Some great adventures and wild tales to be told:

One of the trips with other families out for a loop hitting different oasis (oases?) west of the Nile toward Libya:

The rig all geared up and ready to go with extra fuel, boards and sand anchors:

Rock climbing on the Sinai Penninsula:

Just outside the city of Cairo at the Pyramids of Giza (note the size of these structures, my brother and I climbed to the top of one in July 1980):

Dude ! That is SOOOO amaz'n ! Just how big were the stone blocks and how long did it take ya'll to climb ?

The blocks were about chest high to me as a teenager, probably 4 feet? I'm thinking it took us the better part of 3 hours to climb. I have been trying to find the photos we took from the top, but they are slides and would take forever to find. The top of the pyramid that we climbed had a flat area about 30 to 40 feet on a side (30 years is a long time ago, not really sure), big enough for a few people to wander around on. Scary part was going down. If you look at the angle, it is steeper than most stairs with no railings. My father had warned us that people who had slipped on the way down were not in very good shape at the bottom, but we were 15 and 16 and Dad did not know as much then as he does now  .

Did you have your trucks and gear shipped over or outfitted there? Just a bit surprized to see a Chevy truck in Egypt!

That Chevy was purchased in Massachusetts and shipped over. There was a group that used to go exploring regularly with company vehicles until they lost one in the desert (that fine sand is brutal, got into the tranny of a European made S-10 Blazer and smoked the gears).

In order to get the truck into the country, it had to be shipped direct from the dealer to the shipping company to get crated. They let my father fill the bed of the truck with all kinds of gear before crating, and I think it cost about $8,000 to ship in the early 1990s. The truck could not leave the country once it arrived, but he was able to sell it for a good price when he left. My father is not the kind of person who can sit still on time off and loves to be outside exploring, so he considered it a necessary insanity insurance for the long contract he was on.

At the time, GM had a plant in the country and there were also a lot of European made Chevy's in the country.

That is one great looking set up. There are few Dodge owners in our area, mostly Ford and Chevy for some reason (and probably not a good one). When I was looking to replace the truck last year, I was actively searching for a good price on a decent '06 Cummins with manual transmission but the rising price of diesel pushed me toward the Toyota and a gas engine. I kept running the numbers through my head on overall fuel costs for the year, whether the tow vehicle would be a daily driver for work or grab an inexpensive commuter car...can you tell I've got second thoughts now that fuel prices are down?

PS - R U getting around 22 mpg when not towing? The rental we had from Salt Lake City was getting somewhere north of 21 when we drove around looking at the sites without the trailer/

Brad, did the Cameo come stock with that hitch? I am fixing to tow my cart and want to install the lights for my trailer. I'm thinking of coming off the wiring harness under the trailer so it looks cleaner. I'm also ordring a camera so I can see the trailer in case anything happens. I already know FL doesn't allow triples but I talked to a trooper and he said if you have everything hooked up properly they don't make it a point to mess with you.

The hitch was custom made by the dealer I bought the Cameo from. If you looked at it up close you would swear it was a standard class 3 hitch. They tapped into the standard wiring so the lights and even the brakes worked just like stock. It just so happens my son and I rigged up a backup camera, too. In Michigan that is called a recreational double and is perfectly legal as long as you are not over 65'. :rolleyes1

It's not legal in FL but I see it a lot. Mostly from people traveling from up north actually bringing their enclosed down for the winter. I would think they bring all their stuff needed while away for so long or maybe motorcycles and golf carts are in them.

I measured my truck and camper today and it's about 52' long from bumper to bumper. If doubles were legal here that gives me 13' to play with. I figure a 10 foot long trailer with 2' of tongue should keep me close.

Did you have to hardwire in the camera to the transmitter that relays to the monitor? I don't think there is enough signal to go that far.

I dont think its as comfy w 2 ppl on it though which stinks... but oh well...

Yes it does lean a little when sitting in it. I am sorta a big guy (260 lbs) but I don't really see 2 people fitting into that thing very well.

....Did you have to hardwire in the camera to the transmitter that relays to the monitor? I don't think there is enough signal to go that far.Sorry, Donnie, I missed this. We found a 12volt camera online and ran a power line and coax from the camera down the ladder then under the 5er all the way to the front. We tapped into the power panel inside the front storage compartment and ran the coax all the way to the end of the pigtail. I had a Kenwood receiver in the dash that had a DVD player and a video input so we ran coax from that to the rear bumper where we used a double male coupler to hook the coax together. It worked great.

The moon was still out when I took that shot- I think it was like 5:30 or 6am- I have several pics showing the mist gradually lifting till it was clear out and an eagle flew over our site to its nest across the lake. It was one of the most amazing mornings I have ever spent camping...

That campground will always be my fav spot just cause its so removed from everything and everyone- but they are tent only sites- no trailers, no cars... you park up on hte road and haul all your gear down to the water... but its about a 17 hour drive (Pocono Mts PA) for us now and the campground is closed till next year anyway...

And now that we have the pop up and I'm spoiled from camping here where even the state parks have water and electricity at most of their sites... sigh...

Here are some pics from our setup while camping at Mama Gertie's Hideaway campground in Swannanoa, NC (just east of Asheville) last week (20090609). It is a lovely little gem of a CG set into a wooded mountainside. Incredibly well maintained and sparkling clean... I mean, they flip the picnic tables to clean spiderwebs underneath!

Here I am max'n and relax'n under the awning with, what's that? A laptop? What on earth could I be doing? Even at my second-favorite cg I'm fiending for the Fort! Oh, and the bear (Brownie)... he was a clearance find in the garden dept. at Walmart for $25! Run, don't walk!

http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/IMG_1160.jpg

The reverse angle. We don't usually do a LOT of set-up when we camp here 'cause we might want to go touring or go out for dinner. A couple of chairs, the dog bed and a small fence, not so much to keep the pups contained (they're pretty good about that) but to break the trance caused by chipmunks frolicking in the woods across the street.

http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/IMG_1148.jpg

WARNING: Distortion ahead as I break out the panoramic pics!

Here is the "Reception Outpost" at Mama'a
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608ReceptionArea.jpg

...and the front porch:
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608MamasFrontPorch.jpg

A typical row of sites... I told you it was set into a mountainside! Note that my moho floor is even with the neighbor's roof! Yet each site is perfectly level!
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608MamaGerties16.jpg

And, where Mama's surpasses the Fort (IMO), the bathhouses! This is the entrance, with a row of PRIVATE showers on the left. The laundry is ahead to the left and the restrooms are to the right:
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608ComfortStation.jpg

The panoramic shot makes it look smaller that it is, but behind the locking door is a nice sized changing area and the full, residential sized shower enclosure beyond. Each has its own exhaust fan, lots of hooks, and the rubber mat in the changing area is so much nicer than having to muss with shower shoes:
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608Shower.jpg

And everything is kept sparkling clean, even the men's room:
http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w359/SLSettles/20090608MensRoom.jpg

That's all I have time for now. Hope you have the opportunity to check Mama out if you're ever near Asheville. I think with AAA (or Good Sams) it runs about $30 per night. Note however that this is a rather adult campground, there is no pool or playground so little ones may not find it so novel (though there are some arcade games, a tetherball, and horseshoes). But if you are looking for a relaxing getaway, Mama's is really nice!

Great photos Karla, we were in the White Mountains the same time you were there at the Broken Branch KOA. We stayed at Glen Ellis, but made the road trip up to the top of Mt. Washington because the weather was so nice.

What did you think of Bay View on the Cape? We have not camped on the Cape yet and were thinking of Nickerson State Park sometime. Of course, Nickerson does not have hook-ups.

Thanks Dan! I remember you posting about driving up Mt. Washington that weekend. It was beautiful weather.

Bay View was okay but I don't think we'll go back. There was an odor (like sulfur or rotten eggs) throughout the entire campground for the entire weekend. I don't know if it is like that all the time, but it was enough for us to not want to go back. We are planning another Cape trip this season, I think we are going to try Cape Cod Campresort in East Falmouth. I've heard good things about it, and the pics on their website look nice. It looks more of an "RV Resort" than true "campground", so we won't be "roughing" it, lol.

I've heard good things about Nickerson SP - let me know what you think about it, as it is on our list of places to try.

We are trying to figure a weekend for Glenn Ellis, as well. (So many places, so little time, haha). Friends of ours have been there quite a few times and love it - what did you think?

I just went to Google Earth to check out Bay View - found a huge landfill right across the road from the CG on Rte 28. That must explain the sulfur odor all weeked. Guess that'll be one to remove from the list, and adding a pre-check of locations via Google Earth before reservations now!

One of my co-workers has gone to Nickerson a few times, and just recently this spring with the Boy Scouts. He loves the place, says it's large, spread out and quitet. They take the rail trail over to the Coast Guard beach (a long trip, but they are with teenagers).

I liked Glen Ellis. Was a little nervous because they told us the only site they had left was their worst one. It was not bad, was at the end of a loop near the gravel road, but it was not dusty and across the road was a field near the bath house. The kids played on that field a lot. They have huge open areas for sports or just running around catching fireflies if you want. Happy Trails! We're off tonight for Mt. Ascutney SP in VT, then to see the Hot Air Balloon Fest in Quechee. With the rain they are predicting, probably not much for balloon activity, but plenty of fried dough and festival food!

Hello and Good Morning Shan-man ........ The Hot Tubs are only located on what they call their 'Signature Sites'. I believe there are around eight total and they are all lake front. Myrtle Beach State Park is one of our favorite places to stay.
Typical state park with mostly older comfort stations but a quick walk up a hill takes you to the prettiest beach ever.

http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad165/maryannlyl/dsc_0566jpg_595.jpg
Dogs are allowed in the campground (a must for us) and on the beaches fall, winter, and spring. In the summer they are allowed on the beach only in the evenings.
http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad165/maryannlyl/dsc_0567jpg_595.jpg

The state park beach is never as crowded as the beach at the strip but you can walk up the beach to get to the businesses on the strip if you want to.

This picture shows the day use facilities and in the distance the fishing dock and ocean views.
http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad165/maryannlyl/mbview.jpg

This shows our favorite site. It is one of the smallest but it is quiet and private and close to the beach.

Maggie at the Fort, thanks for posting the pics! I was just looking at the website, etc for the Myrtle Beach State Park the other day. Was there any airplane noise? I saw on the satellite photos that the airport runways are very close to the campground end of the park. We drove the only time we ever went to MB, so I don't know how busy the airport is there.:confused3
It looks nice and woodsy, much better than the wide open sites of some of the other RV Resorts. We're tenters, so the more rustic, the better.:)

Maggie at the Fort

GOBO Mom Lynn: It is a beautiful park but there is some airplane noise. It isn't constant since it isn't a very busy airport but the planes do go over the park. It doesn't start too early or go too late and we usually start ignoring it after a day. We were in site 163 and I'd recommend that part of the campground. We accidentally booked a trip during Myrtle Beach bike week and it was still quiet and peaceful. We love being able to walk to the ocean any time of day.

Another park near the beach to check out is Edisto State Park. It is further south but if you can get a site on the beach loop you are right there ON the beach.

I just wanted to add one lil comment re: Myrtle Beach SP, the beaches are not very dog-friendly. Pets are not allowed on the beach between something like 8am-6pm, which really hampered our enjoyment. We spent a LOT of time at the CG and very little at the beach, which defeated the purpose of driving all that way.

We are at this camprgound this weekend. A hidden jewel for the type and size of campsites. The sites are 75 feet apart and all are extra long pull thrus. $25 a night full hook up, plus good sam discount. Free train rides for the kids, $2 mini-golf, fishing, paddle boats frisbee golf, most of that free if not cheap. Nice little place.
This is the trailer we bought to replace the Haunted Mansion.

Here's the new trailer at our local state park, Site 111 in Lake Dennison:

and of course we did some fishin'

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh199/DanTaylor_01/camping%202009/DSCN0645.jpg

So far so good with the trailer. Replaced the lightweight battery that came with the trailer and put in our golf cart batteries so we could dry camp for days without shore power. Temps in the daytime were in the low 80's with relatively low humidity, hit 59-60 by morning. Actually felt like fall camping!

We're going to the Mystic Seaport area next weekend and staying at the KOA in Stonington. Here's hoping no more leaks in the trailer.

My boss just bought a new passport last week. Looks like the same model.

Our dealer told us that they are coming out with a new part to add on extra seals due to the problems they've had with leaks around the slide rooms. Ours went back 3x in one week to get new fixes tried. At least the dealer was very responsive, even coming to get it and deliver it back to us on the second and third time.

Great floor plan and easy to tow with a lightweight half-ton truck considering the size.

How cool is this! I live only 30 minutes from Natchez Trace and have wondered what the new campground looks like. We just bought our first camper in June this year and have fell in love with the lifestyle. We have talked about going to Natchez Trace several times.

Fisherman's Memorial state park in Narragansett, RI over Columbus Day Weekend. They have tent sites, water and electric and a section of full hook-up sites. We had a water/electric site #49 in Section 2 and thought it was pretty good. Our site (they came by and had me move the truck off the grass that morning - oops):

These are from our trip to the Black Hills early this summer. We stayed at the Mt. Rushmore KOA. We had a full hookup site. If you are ever planning on taking your camper to the Black Hills, I fully recommend this campground.

Beautiful sunset Jen!! Is that Donnie next to ya'll??

Oh, at Lake Guntersville, I ran into some other Disboarders that recognized my camper. Honestly don't remember who they were, but I gave them one of the Musket Mickey's you made me. I have yet to put one on my camper. I need to wash it first. Probably will wash it this weekend and apply it then.

Yes, that is Donnie. He stayed a couple of days with us. Make sure you leave the Muskey Mickey on ALL DAY to dry in the sun. Otherwise, the little parts will not adhere to the surface. (If you don't believe me, ask Donnie;))

Yes, the 1st one I applied was a mess. Jen and I sprayed windex on and got the decal where I wanted it. She sqweegeed the wrinkles out and later in the day it pulled right off.

Okay, first time trying to post photos. And I just realized, looking at these, that I'm always so excited to be camping that I don't even wait until we're fully set up to take pix. Plus, the kids get so excited they take off as soon as we're partially set up (don't know where they get that from, sheesh). So, while it looks like I just went and snapped some shots of abandoned sites, there really is life there...

This is at Jordan Lake in NC:

http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz357/polkadotsuitcase/Campgrounds/jordanlakecampground.jpg

And at James Island in Charleston, SC:

http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz357/polkadotsuitcase/Campgrounds/jamesislandcampground.jpg

We're heading to OBX in a couple weeks, and I promise I will try to contain myself and wait to take photos until we're fully set up!

Not as cool as a waterfront site, but here's our site at Camp Hatteras last week.

http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz357/polkadotsuitcase/Campgrounds/thesite01.jpg

We were directly across from the dunes, which the kids really liked, because the path to the beach was steps from our site. They liked it, at least, until they were running down the path, and my son yelped and said, "I got a pricker in my foot!" Uh, not exactly what I was expecting to see in his foot:
