Does anyone know a website where I can check the value of a pin? I know someone who is looking into selling a certain pin and we were wondering how much would be fair for it. I've heard of books but I really don't want to buy a book just for one pin.

There are two possible choices.

One is to look at completed items on eBay. You will see the closing prices of the auctions or BIN. If it did not sell you will see the original listing prices.

The other is to go to www.pinpics.com and search for the pin. Note that Pinpics is a trading site and does not give prices.

However, two of the fields in each entry are number wanting the pin and number willing to trade the pin away. Look at the ration and it weill give you a good idea of the value.

If the number wanting is in three digits and the number willing to trade is in only one digit, the pin is probably worth well over $100. If the numbers are bout equal or the number wanting is less than the number willing to trade, probably the best you could get is around retail price.

Unfortunately the only pins on Ebay tend to be newer pins. This pin is at least 3 years old. But I will try it thanks. :)

Tomart has put out guides in the past with pin price information. Some of their prices are on the money, while others are way off.

Which pin is it that you're inquiring about? Have you looked it up on PinPics yet? Did you try to do an advanced search on ebay by checking into closed auctions?

If you don't want to post which pin it is, you can PM or email me if you'd like. I will try to help you out. I have been involved with pin collecting/trading/selling/purchasing for about 9 years.
