to go round the Parks?
I am not really a shorts person, and in the past, whenever we have visited Florida we haven't had that good weather, so I have usually worn Jog Trousers or on the odd occassion of good weather shorts.
As we are going in May, I expect it will be hot, hot, hot - what do you suggest. I only have a couple of pairs of shorts, should I make more - or should I strike a blow for Women's Lib and wear a Sundress or Skirt!?!?!?
:D :D
Opinions greatly appreciated :)
Shorts for me
I'm not a skirt or dress person at all ;)
but on our next trip me thinks trouser will be a good idea:D

I wear shorts, but only cause I don't care!! However, I have some really comfy cotton loose trousers that are great as it saves on suncream too. I get hotter in skirts!!

Another vote for shorts!!that is when the weather in HOT ofcourse when we went over Christmas on New Years eve and Hilary can back me up on this i was wearing jeans, long sleeve t-shirt, two jumpers, a coat and a blanket it was freezing!!!
Like Kaylee though when the weather is nice it is shorts, t-shirt and trainers, i think skirts would be difficult when you are hanging upside down on the rollercoasters;)

Shorts, tee shirt, trainers (or sandals).
I don't own a skirt or dress, so it's definitely shorts for me! I can still remember New Year's Eve 2000/01 when I wore a vest, tee shirt, sweatshirt, fleece gilet, fleece jacket, track bottoms, two pairs of socks, gloves, scarf..... ;) (but I'm sure it won't be like that in May, Janice!)

I normally wear shorts as I take the line that no-one knows who I am so it doesn't matter how fat I look in them:p. I haven't worn a dress or skirt since August 1999 !!! Sometimes I wear 3/4 lengths depending on what time of day I visit the park. Normally with them I wear a t-shirt or vest top if I'm feeling particularly brave and the tan is coming on

I tend to wear shorts - but this year I thought I might get a couple of 3/4 length trousers, loosish ones. I thought they would be comfortable and not too hot. I do find that denim shorts can get very hot, so I am trying to remember not to pack them this year.

Ditto to Kaylee's answer exactly!!
I took one skirt with me this year apart from that it was shorts and a couple of pairs of cut off trousers/jeans.
btw. a tip from me - don't wear jeans shorts on water rides - I made a huge mistake with that one!!
Bare your legs and go for those shorts Janice!! :)

I dont know.......... I cant work out if it is my age, or my size that bothers me! LOL
The shorts I do have are quite nice and I got them in Florida last year. They are not the fitted type, or what you call walking or tailored shorts. They are like culottes, just above knee length (very important factor to hide the cellulite!) and have side pockets and elastic waistbands. A nice pale blue/yellow/white plaid check pair, and a beige/white flowery pair.
If I do go the shorts route, I am going to have to make myself a couple of pairs as two would never be enough for a week!
I haven't seen any in the shops and I have been scouring catalogues with no luck. Anyone know of any good websites that might have something like that I describe??
:)

Hi Janice :D
We went in May in 99 and it was VERY hot so really I think you would be better in shorts. I have just got the latest copy of the Hawkshead catalogue and they have a few different styles. The ones which caught my eye are 'drawstring shorts' which have an elasticated waist (good for all that WDW nosh!) and two side pockets, and they are above the knee length (20cm inside leg). They cost £16 and come in black, flax and mulberry. I am thinking of getting some myself for Jersey in August (don't know if I'll need them in WDW in Dec/Jan!)
If you go to www.hawkshead.com you can order online. Item code is HF384. They are in a cotton/linen blend so should be nice and cool. They also do full length and cropped styles, so hopefully you will find something! If you really want to go wild, there is a skirt too! I don't know what size you need, but all items go up to a size 20.
Hawkshead have shops but not sure if there is one near you, the website should be able to tell you!
Hope this helps :D

Shorts for me if the weather is warm enough, if not jeans or trousers. I don't wear skirts due to the fat wobbly nature of my legs.
I only wore them in Florida as I knew no one would know me, so it didn't bother me, but I would never wear them out here just in case.
I got mine from Matalan. They were mens but you couldn't tell the difference and had loads of pockets and were only £6 a pair

I normally go with the shorts route like everyone else with maybe a pair of cotton trousers for the evenings.
One thing to remember (unless you are one of those people that strange coincidences happen to) YOU WILL NOT SEE ANYONE YOU KNOW so it doesn't really matter what you look like - and - NO MATTER HOW FAT YOUR BUM LOOKS THERE IS ALWAYS AND AMERICAN BUM WHICH IS FATTER (no offence to any americans looking in :D )

Following on from another thread about wishes, I too wish I were a size ten - double that and it would be somewhere about right. There is a good catalogue that I use and their clothes fit me (bloated tum etc). www.landsend.co.uk. Not cheap but well made and well fitting clothes.
Sorry, I wear shorts, have quite a few from Lands End.

although not as slim as i would like, a comfortable 16/18ish i wear shorts, the first time we went in 1992 i was self concious about my size and on first day out to MK had a pair of light cotton loose trousers on and was boiling, my husband pointed out quite a lot of people who were easily twice my size were in shorts and that by wearing trousers i probably drew more attention to myself than if i were wearing shorts, so straight off to the nearest shop to buy a pair. on our second trip i didnt even think about wearing anything but shorts, and have brought some nice ones for this years trip. the people who give funny looks and stares are the ones with the problems not us cuddly ladies. :D

Go for it, Janice! I wear the shortest shorts I can find! Next have got some great little Lycra ones, with sparkly bits in them.

I don't do casual very well - I just feel scruffy. It's definitely to do with my size; if I ever get back to the size 10 I was when I met dh (well I can dream!) I would wear shorts. As it is I tend to wear cut-off trousers in Florida (last year I had a couple of pairs of checked capri pants and a pair of red cotton ones) with plain t-shirts and trainers during the day. I like to dress up a bit for the evenings and usually take a couple of summer dresses and sandals and some linen trousers. In the past I have worn dungaree shorts.
Jan, I think you should wear what you feel happy in. I know what everyone says about not knowing anyone and there being much worse sights to behold, but I know I would feel uncomfortable and self-conscious wearing shorts.

Well - thanks everyone for the support here, I have taken a bold step today and bought some.........cropped trousers!!!
In fact I have bought three pairs. I was surprised to see them in my size in Primark. I have never shopped in there before but was having a stroll today in Romford and Katie pointed out these trousers. One pair in Pale Lavender Linen, one in Petrol Blue and a beige pair. I bought them and they all fit ok. With a T Shirt over the top, I think they dont look too bad either and feel quite comfy in them - so I am happy. Even more happy that they were at the unbelievable cheap price of £6.00 each pair!!! What a bargain. Less than £20 and I have three pairs :D :D :D
Now..........whether I actually wear them is another thing LOL. (I will...I will...I will)
:D :D :D

sounds like I need to visit Primark.
it's not the other people that I worry about, but the photo's, we take loads of pics on holiday and there's nothing worse than looking awful in all of the holiday photos.
Last year, rather than t-shirts I bought polo shirts with a collar from Cotton Traders - they weren't very expensive. I still wore shorts, although I don't like my legs, but at least with a polo top on I felt fairly respectable.
