I know cats have 9 lifes but my poor kitten nearly lost them all in one go.

Shes 5 months old but she isn't allowed outside as our garden is just unsuitable untill the council come and sort it. Well usually she just pokes her head out the window but today she was actually on the window legde outside the window when all of a sudden she fell.

I live in a maisonette and we are very high up, my heart was practically in my mouth as i watched her tumble to the ground, only to be saved my a bin. I have never ran so fast in my life. I don't know I would of done if she ran off or even worse died from that fall.

I'm still in shock but looks like i best go close all the windows lol.

Oh Emma, your poor kitty so glad she's all right.Glad your ok now as well  .x.

You will be suprised how tough they can be,my Sam fell out of our window 5 floors up,where we used to live.Would you believe he never had any internal injuries,no broken bones-but did have a dis-located jaw(which was hanging)+2 teeth had been pushed back into his gums and a twisted front leg/paw.Don't get me wrong it was touch+go with him-but he survived+is now 15 yrs old.He walks with a limp+may end up with arthiritis in it+his jaw-but no signs of that thankfully.Sam is the Daddy of La-La the one in my signature pic.x.

Wow he survived 5 floors up? He must be a tough cookie.
Kizzy seems to of recovered from the incident, I'm going to be a quivering wreck everytime she goes near a open window now.

I like her name that's cute.
Yes we reckon about 60ft he fell,La-La was making really strange meows+looking up at the window.Me+dh went to investigate+there Sam was out on the really thin ledge(he must have knocked the security latch off)-Dh tried to make a grab for him,but he lost his footing+fell. We got the lift down+we knew he would be dead, but when we got outside he was no-where to be seen-so we thought he must be alive. We looked for him+kept calling his name for about 5mins+then we see him on his side scraping himself along the floor trying to get to us.We run to him+gently picked him up+to this day i can still see his poor little face covered in blood, jaw hanging down, his front leg twisted back2front+his breathing was really bad.We took him upstairs and laid him down on the floor+rang the emergency vets.I thought he was dying as he messed+wet himself which is a sign. But he held on+he stayed in the vets for 1 1/2 weeks-it should have been at least 2wks but he ended up with depression+they thought he would do better at home+he did.I am pretty sure ALL his nine lives ended that night.and here he is below.x.

Awwww, he and La-La look so alike. I didn't know cats get depression. I'm glad he is ok now. I don't know how i would of coped if Kizzy had come off worse, i'm not a lover of blood and i wouldn't of had a clue what to do.

I think its my fault Kizzy was by hanging out by the window, i had sprayed her with flea spray 10mins prior and i think when she saw me she panicked and fell.

It was like time stood still for a second as i watched her fall.
Kyra did call me a hero when i went and collected her from outside though. :worship: lol

Yes they are very alike,Smudge the mum is a short haired mainly black with some white,Sam is half persian,Max(there other son)is a jet balck fluff ball.So Max is a 1/4 persian,as was my poor La-La.The vets believe Sam landed on his feet(which most cat's would/should do)but his legs splayed out to the sides which caused his jaw to take 90% of the impact.

Kizzy must have thought the only safe route from the flea spray was to jump for freedom-bless her.Do you have any other cat's/animals.We don't just the 3 cat's now.x.

I like dogs but would'nt have one.I am a cat person. But i must admit after what i went thru with La-La(that pic of La-La below was taken the night before he died)+having to have him put to sleep-i won't be getting anymore when my other 3 pass on.It was just too upsetting+left me heartbroken. It upsets me to think that i will at some point have to go thru it another 3 times with the others.x.

Aw poor kitty, glad she is OK. 2 of my 3 cats have done a similar thing out of the bedroom window, they landed on their feet and were fine! BTW we now have air conditioning in the bedroom so we don't have to open the windows!! Man owning cats can be expensive!!

Cats always land on their feet glad she is ok. Our old cat Ginger jumped from our bedroom window we saw a shadow pass by the lounge window when we opened the door he was just sitting on the mat looking a little spooked. Couldn't have done him any harm he lived to be almost 17 !!!!!!!

Glad that Kitty is ok and that you are too. Cats are pretty smart so I'm sure she will have learnt from this experience and be more wary of windows now. Our cat worries me because he likes to walk out of my bedroom window and along the window ledge outside. I have to make sure I leave both sides of the window open so that he can get back in on the other side. This is only a second floor window over grass though so from what I've read here I guess he would be ok if he fell.

Glad to hear Kizzy is okay it's ggood to know they all have their mad moments.Ours gave us quite a scare last month. He eats plastic any time he gets the opportunity and he ate something and made himself really ill. Had to take him to the vets and after a couple of weeks worrying and shots etc he's now fine but I have to watch him. I think it came from his scavenging days as a half wild kitten. He's also very adept at getting out of windows:scared1: Heights just don't figure into a cat's brain at least not ours he's got nothing between his ears but we love the mad rescue moggie to bits. All I keep thinking is thank goodness we have pet insurance:lovestruc

I'm glad she's ok.

Many years ago, our neighbour's cat was climbing along our back wall and I was looking at him. All of a sudden he fell all the way to the ground. I screamed. I was shaking and crying. He got up and ran off so I ran next door to tell them that their cat had fallen off the wall. The two neighbours were in hysterics laughing at me and said he does that all the time and he'll be fine, which he was. I felt like a fool standing there crying. The cat appeared then and kinda grinned at me sarcastically for being such a wuss.
