We just returned from WDW this morning and I could not wait to sit down and write a dining review. We had SO much good food! We tried a few new places, which was nice, and revisited a few old favorites. Most of these reviews are for my family, even though we were part of a magical gathering. Magical? Yes! Gathering? Not so much. Since my husband and I have two small children (2 and 7 months), and my sister has two older children (3 and 6), we spent more time relaxing while they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. We did however, have a few meals together so I will introduce you to the crowd.
Me, 30, Gina
DH, 30, Billy
DS, 2, Will
DD, 7 Months, Gemma
DGranny, 55, Ann (my mom)
Dsis, Amanda, 33
DNephew, 6, Sam
DNeice, 3, Sophie
DMIL, Connie, 55
DFIL. Larry, 62
My sister's husband, Clint, decided not to join us so Amanda brought my mom instead. My mom is skinny and isn't obsessed with food like the rest of us, so my poor sister didn't eat as much as we did. ( They were all staying in the same room). My husband and I have been doing Weight Watchers since February (and it is working wonderfully...we are still losing lots of weight!) and we were ready to eat like pigs for a week. I am also breastfeeding, so I am constantly starving. Sorry for all the info! On to the food.
June 1st- Arrival day
Our plane landed around 1:15. Since we flew into Sanford, we rented a van and headed to WDW. My in-laws beat us to the hotel. We were all staying at POFQ and it was wonderful to be back! We love this hotel. Anyway, our first day tradition is to take the boat to Downtown Disney and eat at The Earl of Sandwich. It absolutely did not disappoint!

Here is everyone outside of the restaurant. (I'm taking the picture and Gemma is hidden in the back of the double stroller)

My inlaws split the Cannonballs! sandwich and a side of cole slaw. They loved it. My DFIL is a cole slaw expert and said it was good.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6331960/IMG_3495-vi.jpg
My mom got the Chinese Chicken salad and really enjoyed it.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1202/photos/4/490295/6331960/IMG_3493-vi.jpg
All three kids got the pizza sandwich and they were devoured very quickly.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1205/photos/4/490295/6331960/IMG_3498-vi.jpg
DH and I split the Cannonballs! and a tuna melt. My sister also got the Tuna Melt. It is OMGoodness wonderful. I could eat this everyday. Get the tuna melt!
http://images35.fotki.com/v1208/photos/4/490295/6331960/IMG_3499-vi.jpg
We actually got a table inside for all ten of us. It was slightly chaotic and the kids were acting wild. They were so excited to be at WDW. Here's a shot of Sam and Will, crunching on chips.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6331960/IMG_3500-vi.jpg
My son busted his forehead open and had to get it glued shut the day before we left for WDW. Oh the joys of having a son! So, you will notice in the pictures his band aids and bruises. I promise I don't beat him! (much). haha

ooh, i am totally subbing to this thread... we'll be doing wdw w/a 6mos old bf'ing baby in september and i'd love to hear how your meals went, how you sat gemma in the restaurants (high chair? bring stroller? car seat?), and if she was eating any solids by then, etc...
oh, and plus i'm a total foodie and love your descriptions and photos already! :)

I was a little scared to go with such a young baby (I took my son when he was 11 months old, still nursing, but only 4-5 times a day) but it was great. She is a very good baby, and during meals we would sit her in a high chair or leave her in the stroller. If she got fussy, someone would jiggle her. She is eating solid food, stage 2 baby food. I have to admit though, I'm a lazy mama and would rather just nurse her. We fed her food about once a day at WDW. She's just not that interested yet, even though she seems to enjoy bananas. Good luck on your trip! WDW is very baby friendly.

Not to highjack your thread, but my dd4 was only 3 months when we went. The baby stations are fabulous, just to get out of the heat (we went mid January and it was hot), sit and put your feet up to nurse and to have some private space for diaper changing as well. AK's is the best one! I nursed her all over, even in the Castle while we had lunch, on rides (IASW was great, since it was long).

June 2- Princess Breakfast!
We were really looking forward to this meal, since my niece is just at the right age to be princess crazy. Unfortunately, our day got off to a stressful start when our bus did not show up for Epcot. We waited for 45 minutes and then eventually got in the vans (my sister drove to WDW). Amanda was very stressed out and got me upset and I shed a few tears on the way to Epcot. DH calmed me down, and we ended up not even being late. My FIL was completely wrecked from all the travel the day before so they didn't join us. (He has some health problems). Anyway, breakfast was wonderful. Belle greeted us and she was so beautiful...the best Belle I've ever seen. Check her out...
http://images35.fotki.com/v1207/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3520-vi.jpg
We started with the cold bar, which had really fresh fruit and these awesome muffins. I can't remember if they were cranberry or lingonberry. The salami was good, and my mom tried the fish offerings. She said it was OK.

Does any one else agree that WDW has the best grapes? Yum.
Our server then brought out the hot food. I am obsessed with WDW link sausage. It is delicious, and I love it. This made me very happy. The potatoes were soft and creamy and yummy. I love scrambled eggs and these were good. I am not a fan of the bacon since it was so crispy and overcooked. I like to chew bacon fat and I hate it when it's crispy. Would you believe I used to be a vegetarian? I can't believe I just wrote that I love to chew bacon fat. Sigh.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1207/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3524-vi.jpg
Of course we gobbled this down and our server promptly brought us more!

June 2, Snacks and Late lunch
When my In-laws arrived in Epcot, we were able to ride Soarin', Nemo and we all watched Turtle Talk with Crush. They were starving so we went to Sunshine Seasons so they could grab some lunch. Now, I can't sit and watch people eat so I went and grabbed a Strawberry Shortcake and a lemonade for Will.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1205/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3590-vi.jpg
Will really enjoyed this lemonade.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3589-vi.jpg
This shortcake was OK, but not great. I should have gotten the fruit tulip, but I'm a sucker for strawberry shortcake. The strawberries did not taste fresh. We all had a few bites and gave up.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1210/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3591-vi.jpg
DMIL and DFIL shared a ham sandwich and some cheetos. They enjoyed it. My DMIL isn't the type of person to rave about food so this could have been delicious!
We all enjoyed sitting and taking a break in The Land. The babies were HOT and needed to spend time in the A/C.
After a while, we returned to POFQ for a late lunch and a nap. I was Starving! This is the only picture we got of the food because I HAD TO EAT.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1202/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3592-vi.jpg
I got the chicken quesadilla and it was really good. It came with a side of red beans and what looked like dirty rice. The beans and rice were good and spicy. Will had the chicken nugget kids meal with grapes and apple sauce and Billy just ate carrots and celery. :confused3 Hello? We are on vacation. He claims he wasn't hungry. I enjoyed my meal with a giant coke which was delicious.

I love your reviews and I agree that your kids are really cute.
We love Earl of Sandwich too - for some reason, although my DD loves tuna, she didn't get the tuna melt last time - I'll have to get her to try it next time we go.
I agree about the grapes at Disney World. The quality of our fresh fruit here in the UK is pretty poor most of the time and my DS was absolutely addicted to WDW grapes in April - he was eating them by the sackload :rotfl:
The princess breakfast sounded really good and I had to laugh about your comment about chewing on bacon fat - you've certainly made some progress from vegetarianism :lmao:
Looking forward to reading more :)

OT a bit, I see you brought your Quattro Duo stroller. I find mine to be very heavy to push and lift (my DS is almost 3 and DD almost 1 - so a bit bigger than yours) but I love how comfy it is and the storage. Did you like having it or would you recommend 2 single "travel" strollers (beefed up umbrellas)?
Thanks. Love the pics and the reviews!

This stroller is a nightmare...VERY heavy and it just doesn't turn easily. The stroller is one of the reasons we tried to avoid the buses. It is huge when it is folded up. You are right though, the storage is great and the kids were able to take good naps in it. I'm torn about using it again. It has lots of pros, but also lots of cons. I'm just thankful I have a strong husband to push my heavy stroller!

June 2nd- Dinner at the Tangierine Cafe!
After a long nap we headed back to Epcot to explore the World Showcase. My children are not used to all of this excitement and were a little fussy. Billy and I wanted to eat at Morocco since we love this kind of food but my in-laws were not as excited. They aren't very adventurous eaters (not sure if Morocco is that adventurous!) so they headed to America to eat. I'm so glad we stuck to our plan to eat at the Tangierine Cafe! It was great. Here's what we had:
http://images36.fotki.com/v1201/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3605-vi.jpg
This is the chicken and lamb Shawarma Platter. Billy and I split this. The chicken and lamb were kind of gyro style meat with taziki sauce and onions. The couscous salad was cold and very yummy. We are big time hummus lovers so this really hit the spot. My only complaint is that I wish I had not shared. Next time, I'm getting my own. Also, Gemma insisted on nursing during the meal so I was having to feed her and myself, which is not an easy task but I was determined. Here is a picture if me having to wrestle her at the table.

We sat outside in the courtyard and it was just beautiful there. While we were eating Mo'Rockin started to play and Will was so excited. Here's a shot of his very exotic chicken strips.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1209/photos/4/490295/6332082/IMG_3606-vi.jpg

Here's a shot of us checking out the belly dancer and listening some more:

We were very pleasantly surprised with this counter service meal. It was so good and Morocco is such a beautiful place to eat a meal at. Everyone should try it!
Oh, and FYI, my in-laws did not enjoy their meal at America. This meal led them to believe that there is no good food in the theme parks. I wanted to say "Take my advice and you will find good food!", but alas, I'm working on not being so bossy and a know it all. (Even though I'm always right:laughing: )

June 3rd- Our Animal Kingdom Day
I apologize in advance...this isn't the greatest day for pictures. I was exhausted and in a bad mood later on this day. But, we do have great breakfast pictures!
We all ate breakfast at the food court at POFQ. I had the cheese omelet with potatoes and a side of sausage. Billy shared with me. Will had the full size Mickey Waffle with strawberries. Everything was really good as usual. POFQ has an excellent food court.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1208/photos/4/490295/6332371/IMG_3614-vi.jpg
You can kind of see Will's waffle in the background.
My sister and her family joined us for breakfast. They got pancakes, bacon, and a croissant sandwich with more bacon. (They obviously don't have the same issues I do with WDW bacon!) My mom got the beignets. These are OK, but if you have actually had them in New Orleans, they just don't stand up.
http://images34.fotki.com/v1192/photos/4/490295/6332371/IMG_3615-vi.jpg
We came back to the hotel for an afternoon break and ate lunch there. We were so hot, tired and hungry that we ate before we even thought of taking a picture. I got the cheese steak sandwich which was SO GOOD. They make everything fresh when you order it, which makes a big difference. They actually cooked the meat on the grill with the onions and peppers, instead of just heating up already prepared cheese steak meat. This came with fries. Billy got the kids cheeseburger meal and Will got the chicken nugget kids meal. Is he going to turn into a chicken nugget? We love the kids meals because you can get grapes, carrots and applesauce, which Will would rather eat. He is really into fruit right now. After lunch we all collapsed.
When we woke up, everyone was leaving to go back to the Animal Kingdom to see the Nemo show. Well, my babies weren't awake yet and we couldn't leave. I was staring to get a little irritated at this point because we had barely even seen my sister and her kids since they were so busy running around, and it didn't look like we were going to spend any time with them this afternoon either. (see my upcoming trip report for more info!) Anyway, I got sad because the Magical Gathering wasn't a gathering at all, and DH went out and brought this back:
http://images35.fotki.com/v1207/photos/4/490295/6332371/IMG_3657-vi.jpg
What a good husband! I felt better after my snack and we headed back to the Animal Kingdom.
We were there until about 7:30, when a rainstorm caught us and we came back to POFQ completely soaked. We all ate at the food court AGAIN. Since I was so wet and cold I got a bowl of potato cheese soup which was actually really good. Billy got the Muffaletta, which was good but pretty salty. Who cares about salt when you can drink lots of Coke? Sorry for not having any pictures of this meal...this day was crazy.

What's so funny is that we get them every time we go to WDW, and I keep hoping they will be good, and they never are! I think if you had never had a beignet, they would be delicious, because who has a problem with fried dough? But if you've had a real beignet, it's such a sad mouthful!

Oh goodie, a GG, I am in!!! :thumbsup2
First your children are too cute and your pictures priceless :cloud9:!! We've been anxiously planning our GG family of 17 for over a year for Thanksgiving week, so I am up for any ideas you can offer!! The good, the bad and the ugly! :lmao:
I am loving your SBP breakfast photos! We really considered this one, but as 6 grands are doing are the BBB, some wanted the castle afterwards, so thus far we are going with that for lunch. I can only hope it's worth the $$'s, but thinking your princess breakfast has a lot more interaction. :)
Our family has left most of the planning up to me and one DD, so after presenting different options, it's been interesting and fun to say the least !?!? At least feel we can breath a sigh of relief w/ADR's etc. in place. We've done lots of family things together, incl a Disney cruise 6 yrs ago, where I learned 'the things you planned for may not happen and the things you didn't plan for - will' ;) ! So I'm going with a very open mind and have promised myself, afterall it's a 'grand vacation' and nothing is carved in stone :hyper:! It goes w/o saying, some things we will want to do together, other things as individual families, plus allowing freedom to do as you please and down time for all involved. Specially for over excited, perhaps tired grands.....not too mention
Nana n Pop Pop too! :goodvibes
Also joined Tour Guide Mike for his expert advise how to make the best of your time at WDW. I am very pleased with his advise thus far and if half his ideas work, we'll be good to go! :dance3:
Love the pic of your snack, what a keeper your DH is!? :worship:

Thanks for thinking my kids are cute! I'm kinda partial to them myself. You must be excited for your grand gathering! I'm really glad we did it, but there were more than a few misunderstandings and dramatic moments. I think you have the right attitude. It was so nice to have them right next door. (We had connecting rooms)
I also used TGM and it was a lifesaver! Concentrate on his "best days" and you will never fail!
Good Luck with your trip...you'll have a great time and make lots of memories with your family.

Great reviews so far, very envious of your photos with Mulan. Our wishlist for our next trip is to meet Mulan and Aeriel in her ballgown and Pocahontas if she is out there....................

Loving your reviews!!! I'm so glad you posted what you did about the beignets - we live about 40 miles outside of New Orleans, and have, therefore, had the "real thing" so I think we would have been disappointed in them too. I will definitely take your word for it on that this September! :thumbsup2 All of your details are great and the pictures are making your report so enjoyable - keep them coming! :goodvibes
Being from New Orleans I'm glad you posted this as well. Won't be too disappointed.;)

I tired to send you a PM..but I don't have enough posts..but I wanted to say this:
Thanks for the pictures and description of the princess breakfast. My daughter and I are going (both first-timers) to the princess breakfast in September. She is 4 and princess CRAZY. We booked in June so Cinderella was a no go..so this is our big princess experience. I appreciate reading your review and the pictures only make me even more anxious.

Never fear...my sister and niece just walked into Cinderella in the World Showcase! She was just hanging out, waiting to see little princesses! So you might get lucky. Also, Cinderella has been known to show up at the Norway breakfast from time to time. I will try to post more princess pictures since a lot of people seem to be interested. Have a blast on your trip!

Just found this thread today & I have to say as many before me have said your kids are just too cute. Your son reminds me of mine when he was that age. Enjoy them while they are young, they grow up too fast & are asking for the car keys instead of Mickey Bars.

Wednesday, June 4th- Pirate and Princess Party day!!!
We were able to sleep in a little bit since we weren't going to the Magic Kingdom until around 4:30 for the PPP. We headed over to the Food Court for our usual breakfast, which was exactly what I got yesterday...here's yesterday's picture in case you forgot:
http://images35.fotki.com/v1208/photos/4/490295/6332371/IMG_3614-vi.jpg
Cheese omelet, potatoes, sausage, Mickey waffle with strawberries for Will.
Gemma exacting her baby justice with Papa's cane at the breakfast table:
http://images35.fotki.com/v1206/photos/4/490295/6332561/IMG_3686-vi.jpg
Our plan today was to spend the day at the pool and do laundry. Babies go through a lot of clothes, so I knew we would need to take some time off for the laundry. We got an awesome umbrella table right nest to the kiddie pool in the shade and set up camp there. Mimi and Papa joined us under the umbrella. I went to the food court for lunch and we ate outside. I couldn't resist another cheesesteak and fries. Will got the grilled cheese, which he refused to eat. Billy got another cheeseburger kids meal. This was a good lunch. This is one of my favorite memories of the trip, because we just got to relax and enjoy being outside and together. Here's a shot of our yummy lunch:
http://images36.fotki.com/v1201/photos/4/490295/6332561/IMG_3703-vi.jpg
We had dinner at the Crystal Palace before the PPP. We love to eat here, and it was good. I wasn't able to take any pictures of the food, due to the chaos made by having to feed both kids and take pictures of them with the characters. I was very happy with my meal. I mostly ate the mashed potatoes, which were awesome, the broccoli (yum) and the corn spoonbread. Our waitress was a little slow with the drinks, but she wasn't too bad. Pooh almost forgot to say hi to Will, but after I asked him nicely he came back. His handler was not doing a good job and I really don't think Pooh could see Will. My sister was about to blow her top and I thought for a minute I was going to punch Pooh for not saying hi to my baby:laughing: , but it all worked out. Just be nice and things will work themselves out. I read so many posts about people having terrible experiences with characters and wait staff and 90% of the time the problem could be solved with common courtesy. I'll get off my soapbox now. Here's some shots of the kids:

Great reviews! The kids are adorable. Will is a little younger, but I have some similar pics of my nephew with the princesses when we went in 2000. (My nephew is 13 now. Don't know where that time went.) Looks like the kids really had a great time.
And for those who haven't tried Earl of Sandwich - make sure to add it to the itinerary. It's a new "must" for us.

June 5th- Our MGM day (yes, it will always be MGM to me)
Since we got in really late from the PPP, we thought we would sleep in and miss rope drop. Well, we woke up in time for rope drop but not in time to eat breakfast, so we grabbed some waters, Wheat Thin crisps and some Mickey Head cheese that we bought at Wal-Mart. The white cheddar is actually really good! I bought the little ones an itzakadoozie since they were sad they couldn't ride TOT with the big kids (us). Some pics of Will and Sophie with our quick breakfast:

http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3755-vi.jpg
We left MGM around 12:30 for a rest, and ran to DTD to grab some sandwiches at the Earl of Sandwich. Billy and the kids sat in the car and I ran in to get the sandwiches to go. We got exactly what we got the other night...Tuna Melt, Cannonballs! and a pizza sandwich for Will. I also threw in a cupcake, which was so moist and delicious. The sandwiches were great, as usual. You can not go wrong here.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...Will and I have been battling fevers and sore throats. The Dr thinks it's just a virus and not strep throat. I'm not sure what it is, but we have been pretty miserable. Now both kids have a viral rash all over their legs. Anyway, I'm going to try to get back on track now. Also, thank you to everyone who has been replying! I appreciate all of the compliments and kind words. I can't figure out how to reply to multiple posts in one post...I need some DIS lessons! On with the show!
June 5th, Mama Melrose
We came here for the Fantasmic dinner package and I am so glad we did. This turned out to be a great experience for everyone. To start, all the kids got glowing drinks. Here's Will enjoying his orange juice:http://images35.fotki.com/v1210/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3783-vi.jpg
We all got different appetizers, which basically means we got the whole menu. Billy and I both got the calamari. I love calamari, and this was pretty good. We didn't really care for the sauce it came with but we loved the peppers and stuff they put on top. Not the best I've ever had, but by no means bad.
http://images34.fotki.com/v1192/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3789-vi.jpg
DFIL got the Tomatoes and Mozzarella. He enjoyed this and ate every bite.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1209/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3790-vi.jpg
DMIL got the Caesar salad. This was a big for a salad and she liked it.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1202/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3791-vi.jpg
Both Sam and Sophie got the Vegetarian Minestrone for their appetizer and neither one would touch it. So, Will ended up eating two bowls of this. My son ate two bowls full of beans for dinner. This will come into play the next day in the Magic Kingdom during what I will call "the diaper incident". Anyway, this was really tasty if you are into beans, which Will apparently is.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1201/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3792-vi.jpg
My mom got the bruschetta, which she thought was OK.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3793-vi.jpg
They also brought us lots of FREE bread, which was good and hot. Why does everyone always complain about the lack of free bread at MM?? We had tons of it. They must have changed their policy. It comes with olive oil but they did bring us some butter.
http://images37.fotki.com/v1199/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3794-vi.jpg

http://images35.fotki.com/v1207/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3795-vi.jpg
Billy got the Spicy Italian Sausage. He really liked it and said it was actually spicy. The cheese on top was great, kind of like a goat cheese but it tasted like blue cheese.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3796-vi.jpg
My mom, Amanda and I all got the Penne Alla Vodka. This was so good. One thing I noticed about all of our food is that it was all really hot. I hate it when your food comes out cold, or just lukewarm. This was a huge portion and full of pancetta. Everyone loved it.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1203/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3798-vi.jpg
DFIL got the Charred Butcher Tender Steak, with red pepper polenta and asparagus. It had some blue cheese on top. He loved it, and ate it all except for three pieces of asparagus that I stole. So Good! They cooked it perfectly.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1208/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3799-vi.jpg
DMIL got the wood grilled chicken. She was a little disappointed, not because it didn't taste good, but because she thought it would be a chicken breast with a side of pasta. The menu does kind of read like that. Will also loved eating this.
Lots of us got the tiramisu. It was good, but I hate to say that Olive Garden is better. I enjoyed it because it was cold, creamy and fattening.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1208/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3802-vi.jpg
DFIL got the ricotta cheesecake. It was wonderful! I would suggest getting this over the other dessert options. Yum!
http://images36.fotki.com/v1204/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3803-vi.jpg
This is the Warm Truffle Chocolate Cake. My sister loved this. I tasted it, and it was ok, but realize I'm not much of a chocolate lover.
http://images35.fotki.com/v1197/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3804-vi.jpg
Billy got the spumoni ice cream. He claims it was gelato. We are arguing this point right now. Dang! I just looked at allearsnet, it's gelato. He says it was "good".
http://images35.fotki.com/v1209/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3805-vi.jpg
Here's what Gemma thought of our meal:
http://images35.fotki.com/v1207/photos/4/490295/6332776/IMG_3806-vi.jpg
Mama Melrose's was great. We really had a good meal and I'm glad I didn't switch our reservation. I had read some bad reviews on the DIS and I got worried, but I couldn't decide what to do, so I just stuck with our original plan. It was the right thing to do.

It was the Fantasmic Dinner Package. What they do now is let you order one appetizer, one entree, one dessert, and one non-alcoholic beverage. You get to use the regular menu, not a special one. When we did this in 2005, they brought out a big bowl of salad and everyone had to split a flatbread, and then order off the special menu. I enjoyed this time more, because we got more choices.

Now on to Friday, June 6th.
We started the day at the Magic Kingdom for rope drop. We all ate breakfast at the food court before leaving POFQ, and we all got the same old stuff except for Will, who requested pancakes and then refused to eat them. Who knows? Our plan for the day was to spend the morning at the MK, go back to the hotel and rest, maybe go to Epcot for a while, and then head to DD for shopping since everyone (except for my little family) was leaving in the morning. Well, so many magical things happened to us at the MK that we didn't end up leaving until 5:30! (I will reveal all in my trip report!) So many magical things happened that we didn't really pay attention to our food, or eating that much, but we did get to eat lunch at my favorite counter service, El Pirata y el Perico. Most of us got the beef tacos, and Sam got the vegetarian tacos and ate one of Amanda's beef tacos! All the magic was making him hungry.
http://images36.fotki.com/v1203/photos/4/490295/6333064/IMG_3858-vi.jpg
We love this place because of the toppings bar, and because a taco is just good after eating fries all week. My only complaint about it this time was that I felt like I was in one of those exploding taco commercials due to too many toppings and juggling a 7 month old. Not really El Pirata y el Perico's fault, right?
That night we went to Wolfgang Puck Express in DD. I was so exhausted that I couldn't summon up the energy to take pictures. I was throughly unimpressed with this place. I got a pizza and it tasted like a frozen pizza! I couldn't believe it. We ate at the Wolfgang Puck place in Las Vegas and it was great. The pasta Amanda got was not even a little good. I think it was the spaghetti and meatballs. She took two bites and stopped. I kept tasting it, expecting it to get better, but it didn't! Billy got the Chinois Chicken salad, and it was good, but not enough to feed three people who don't like their food. We got Will a side of the 4 cheese mac and cheese and he ate it all. I had such high hopes and they were dashed. I would like to go back and try again but my husband isn't as forgiving as I am. Who knows if we will ever be back.
Tomorrow...our last day:sad1:
ETA: Amanda and I were talking to my mom at lunch today, and she said that she really liked the spaghetti and meatballs from WPE! She loved that meal. So, it just proves my point, don't listen to reviews! What I hate you may love and vice versa. I'm really shocked though. It wasn't good at all.

Loving your report. It's nice to read about places you haven't eaten at yet. I was compelled to read your report after I saw that you had a daughter named Gemma. My youngest daughter is also a Gemma. A very uncommon but beautiful name.:goodvibes Hoping your whole family is feeling much better!

That's so neat that Gemma is your daughter's name too! I've been to England 3 times, and Gemma over there is like Amy or Jennifer here. Very common and lots of children have that name. (At least this was the case at the school where I was visiting). I have no idea why it hasn't caught on over here. I think it's the prettiest name for a little girl! Every time I tell someone her name they say, "That's pretty. I've never heard that name before." :confused3 Isn't that strange?

My DD has just decided she likes Tacos so after your review I'll be tempted to try that CS, pity about WGPE though!
As you say I know lots of Gemmas here in England, but lots of the US names we don't have here
I just went looking for your TR but couldn't find it, could you link me please :goodvibes

I haven't started my trip report yet...I'm waiting to get all of our pictures in order and our photopass CD. I'm also waiting until I finish this report (which I'm about to). It's hard for me to get time to sit down at the computer to write so I probably shouldn't tackle two reports at once! But it will be soon, I promise.

Out Last Day: :worried:
Everyone else had left, so we were on our own. We planned on spending the day in Epcot, so we headed there after we grabbed a quick breakfast at the food court. Will got a bowl of grapes, and I got a cheese danish from the bakery. This danish was very good. I can not believe I waited until the last day to try it! Oh well, I guess we will just have to go back.
We had an ADR for San Angel Inn for lunch at 12:00. Billy and I were excited about this. We made this last minute ADR a few days before because on Monday, when we visited Mexico, we really liked the way the restaurant looked. It's very dark and romantic. Sounds like a great place to take a 7 month old and a 2 y/o, right? What can I say, we are optimists regarding our children's behavior. Gemma was asleep when we got there and Will was overheated and mad. He didn't want to eat, he didn't want to sit in the highchair, etc. Here's a pic of his meltdown:

2 Minutes later (I kid you not):

We were served chips and salsa when we got there and they were good. The salsa was nice and spicy.

I ordered the Plato Mexicano which was a grilled beef taco, a chicken enchilada and a cheese quesadilla with beans and rice. They must have forgotten to put the beans on my plate because I didn't get any, but that's OK. My little bean eater was asleep anyway. I really was happy with my meal. The grilled beef taco was good, the meat tasted like really good roast beef. The chicken enchilada had green sauce on it, lots and lots of meat, very good. Here's a bad picture:

You can't really tell what's what in this picture.
Billy got one of the chef's specials which was pork tenderloin served on a bed of hominy and chorizo with a cilantro sauce. This was excellent! The pork was cooked perfectly with just a little pink left in the middle, and the hominy was so good! We loved this.

This picture shows how dark it is in there:

Of course Gemma woke up as soon as Will fell asleep!
This place gets lots of bad reviews, and I think one of the reasons for this is because people are expecting what they think is Mexican food but really expecting tex-mex, which is nothing like real Mexican food. My meal was more on the tex-mex side, but Billy's was definitely Mexican. Give it a shot! This was one of our favorite meals of the trip.
That's all of my reviews...after we left the parks that afternoon we headed to our hotel in Sanford. Our flight left at 7:50 the next day. I really enjoyed writing these and I promise I'll start my trip report soon!

I am happy to read that you enjoyed San Angel. We had dinner there a few years ago and I admit that I was very disappointed. We are trying it again this year for lunch hoping for a better experience. Your husband's pork dish looked wonderful!

We have avoided Mama Melrose's due to the bad reviews (and our love of Primetime and Brown Derby), but those pictures make it definitely look worth a trip! Thanks!!

I think your reviews of Mama Melrose and San Angel Inn were spot on! :thumbsup2 I always get the wood grilled chicken at MM and I love the hazlenut cheesecake so much I emailed Disney for the recipe!!!!! And your comments about why you believe San Angel gets bad reviews? I couldn't agree more - it's closer to authentic Mexican than most of us are used to.
Great reviews!

Thanks so much for sharing your reviews, I have really enjoyed them. I love the El Pirata Y el Perico restaurant but it has only been open once in all the times we have been! Sounds like the San Angel Inn is one to add to the list.
