We'll be there Jan 17 - 25th. Can't wait! I'm so excited about firming up our daily plans and dining ressies, it will be a big downer if Disney doesn't release the hours on time. I feel terrible for all the November people, I don't know if I can handle what they must have gone through the whole month. Fingers crossed!

We're going Jan. 1-7. I'm pretty much on my own I think as far as hours go for ADR's. But we don't eat much and usually share meals so we are not doing DDP or a lot of ts meals. We are doing 1900 Park Fare on the 1st and Chef Mickey's for breakfast one of the mornings, so I think I'm ok. I hope!:confused3

Another Aussie joining the que to play the waiting game. Arriving 30 Dec 08 thru to 14 Jan 09 (with a couple of days at that 'other place' along the way). Planning on making ADRs for one TS meal each day, (we'll be sharing meals too), just trying to 'best guess' at this stage and maybe have to change things once hours are released.
Here's hoping we don't have to wait for as long as the November guys did.

If the number of posts here is any indication (very few compared to the avalanche of posts we had for Nov. and Dec.,) those who are going in January are going to have most of WDW all to themselves.

January for us as well! I'm anxious to see the hours posted. If they are going to abbreviate the days I wish they'd do it toward the evening. We're night owls in this family! Getting up "early" for rope drop is the only downside to a Disney vacation. (Not counting the hit on the $$account$$ ;) )

It's our last night and was hoping to end it with Wishes. They had parties on Saturday nights this past January/February. The last Saturday in January and the first two Saturdays in February all had parties. Also the first Saturday in March and the last Saturday in May. Maybe if they felt the Saturday night parties were successful they would schedule them that way again. There haven't been parties as early as January 3 though, over the past two years that they have been holding them. That's not to say they won't have one that early next year though, just look at September! They've moved MNSSHP all the way up to the first week of September, so why not have PPP the first week of January. Hopefully for you and your BF that's what it is! :goodvibes

Did anyone see that Mark Goldhaber on Mouse Planet reported that Disney will be going back to 90 day ADRs soon? I just read about it on the TGM forums. It will affect some of us January vacationers if it's true...
But the biggie appears to foreshadow a major policy change. As of July 16, you will not be able to make any Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) for any dates past January 15, 2009. ADRs needed for January 16, 2009 or later will not be able to be booked until October 15.
There are 3 exceptions: Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Albert's.
It looks like Disney is preparing to move the reservations window from 180 days back to 90 days, with the exception of the three most-in-demand. While the days of walk-up, same-day reservations everywhere are probably gone forever, it'll be nice not to have to worry about what you want to eat half a year in advance.
I don't mind 90 day ADRs, but I sure hope it doesn't affect when park hours are released. :scared:

I didn't see that, but I've already made a few of my January ADRs. I leave on 1/4 and was able to get a reservation at Chef Mickey's for that morning. So it's not affecting me. For now that's just a rumor. (one I remember hearing last year around this time, before 2008 packages are announced)

Still waiting for those hours...!Hmm... that's what it sounds like. Someone in dining posted a little more information they got from another site, though I can't recall which site. It stated that the 90 day ADRs would be a temporary state at that by August '09 or something like that it would go back to 180 days. I'll see if I can find it.

Found it. Here's the LINK (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1873679&page=2) to the thread. Here's what it says:
Details have not yet been finalized, but Disney will begin transitioning to a new reservation system sometime in the late summer or early fall. As a result, Disney will only be accepting Advance Dining Reservations up to 90 days in advance starting around August 1.
The reservation window starts growing again once the move to the new reservation system is underway, and Disney expects to be back to the full 180-day window sometime in the fall of 2009. We're told that this does not affect any existing reservations. We've also heard (but not confirmed) that Cinderella's Castle, Chef Mickey's and Victoria and Albert's will still have 180-day windows.
They got their information from touringplans.com.

We are planning for Jan 21-27!!!:woohoo: I've used the links for past years hours to guesstimate which parks we will do each day, but I would really like the hours to come out prior to July 25, when we can do our ADRs. :surfweb: What are the chances of them being posted on a holiday weekend?
Also, since we are staying onsite and it's off-peak season, are we crazy to ignore the touring plan recommendations and plan to go to EMH parks? It seems silly to avoid those parks when EMH are one of the "perks" to being a resort guest, ya' know?

If the rumor becomes true about the new ADR system and time (ie: 90 days for ressies) I don't think you will have anything to worry about. We are going from Jan 17-31 2009 and it looks like I will not be able to make any reservations until October. So the January hours should definately be out for a couple months before I have to book the ressies. So we shall see! :cool1:

We are planning for Jan 21-27!!!:woohoo: I've used the links for past years hours to guesstimate which parks we will do each day, but I would really like the hours to come out prior to July 25, when we can do our ADRs. :surfweb: What are the chances of them being posted on a holiday weekend?

Yes park levels will be low. Feel free to go to EMH parks. I normally do with the shorter hours in value season EMH helps. Duinging an Epcot EMH once I got to ride TT 8 times.

I'm going Jan 21-27 with txmommy34's family. She finally got me on the disboards because she kept reading all the helpful info to me. :rotfl: I can't wait to get there, and I especially can't wait to be there in value season -- I've only ever been at peak times! The whole "start waiting" thing is so right though -- the wait seems like forever!

I haven't, but someone on TGM did email and actually (surprisingly) received a response. She was told to expect January hours to be released in mid August. Ugh. Who knows how accurate the information is, but still not what I was hoping to hear.

I think if you call, they just give you the same old scripted brush off. The only thing I've heard is that if you call to make your ADRs, they sometimes won't let you make them past a certain time, which causes people to think that park is closing early that day. I've also heard that they sometimes open up those later dining times after park hours are released if the park is going to be open later, so in the long run it really doesn't mean anything for sure even if they won't let you make ADRs past a certain time.
I do seem to recall that when the November and December hours were finally posted there were some people on the DIS who were travel agents and they were able to get the hours and post them a little before (like maybe a few hours before) all the hours for all the parks were showing up on the Disney website.

I'm glad to hear that. DH is a travel agent, and I have him check every once in a while, but I didn't know if it was even worth the effort.
Does any one know if there is a time the hours are normally posted? I don't know if it is appropriate to check only in the morning, or in the evening too.

It seems like last time, the hours started showing up about mid-day, one park at a time. I think they could show up at anytime, so check as often as you like to! It seems to me that there was a travel agent who had posted the hours from his resource late that morning.

I found the DIS just as the November hours were supposed to be posted and got enthralled in the November hours thread. I think that we should all bug anyone at Disney we can about the lack of hours for January. I know that we will all get a number of different answers/comments (which we should share) but they can be pretty interesting (or at least they were for the November people).
I can understand why WDW would want to wait on the hours, particularly if bookings really are down. However, that begs the question - would getting the hours out help with bookings? Without hours, the fear is that the hours will be cut back (maybe severely), so why book a trip (or at least I'd probably think that, if I hadn't already booked...)
Also, if the ADR system really does go to 90 days, that would limit the number of people complaining about the hours not being posted early. However, if CRT, CM and A&V still are taking ADRs at 180, people will still be complaining about the lack of hours when they need to make those ADRs.

Okay, so hours are pretty much what I was expecting, with the exception of the lack of Fantasmics and MK early closings for P&P Parties... and the EMH swaps the last Sunday and Monday of the month.
Anyone besides me thinking that the last Sunday of the month is going to be a P&P Party? In September, October and December when the MK evening EMH is moved to Monday night and the DHS evening EMH is moved to Sunday night it's always a party... either MNSSHP or MVMCP. I'm wondering if the EMH switch at the end of January is indicative of a P&PP. :confused3

They're pretty standard for most of the month, I believe they follow the standard EMH schedule pretty closely.
MK Sundays are evening EMH... except for the 26th where it appears to have been moved to Monday. MK Thursdays are morning EMH. (Not sure about the 2nd and 3rd, though I'd guess them to be AM EMHs.)
Epcot's AM EMH is on Tuesdays, the evening EMH on Fridays... except on the 1st where it appears to have been moved to Thursday.
AK's AM EMHs are on Mondays, the evening EMHs are on Wednesdays... except on the 13th where it appears to have been moved to Tuesday night instead. (Not sure what's up with the 2nd and 3rd though.)
DHS's AM EMH is on Saturdays, the evening EMH on Mondays... except on the 14th where it's been moved to Wednesday and the 25th where it's been moved to Sunday. (Not sure what's up with the 2nd.)
Unless you're there the 1st through the 3rd they're easy enough to figure out. :goodvibes

Well Epcot always closes at 9 and according to a times guide I have from May:
Princess Storybook's last seating is at 8:30p
Coral Reef's is at 9:00p
Garden Grill at 8:00p
I'd have to say that the other WS restuarants have a last seating somewhere between 8:00 and 8:30p. The entertainment at the Pub in the UK continues until 9:30p
I hope that helps some.

yes, they will if it's going to be closed. I want to eat at Crystal Palace at 7:30p one night and they're only open until 6p so they keep telling me 7:30p is too late. Just ask for the last seating if you want to eat late.
