POFQ has become our favorite moderate resort. We were going to stay there in October for a few nights but then decided to stay there on our Spring Break trip instead. When we were there we were so spoiled by everything. We loved the pool, food court, boat to DTD, the fact that we were first on and first off the bus after a long day at the park, plus the huge factor for me...only 1 bus stop compared to multiple bus stops at the other moderates. We loved it so much that we decided to switch our POR reservation over to POFQ, this time we have a water view room. We are very excited about it....43 more days until we are at our beloved POFQ again :goodvibes

Wow, these pictures are fabulous! I really like it when folks post the room numbers and the view from the room too. It really helps to get the "lay of the land". I've only seen FQ from the boat when staying at POR, so the pictures are great. The only thing is that after seeing some of the views I'm really wanting to upgrade to a water view room! Any thoughts? It seems worth it for a river view, but not if you just end up with a pool view.

We were there 09/17-09/26 and nothing was decorated any differently for fall/Halloween. Only Halloween I saw was the Halloween stuff for sale in the Gift Store.

How far was the walk from building 4 to the pool/lobby/bus etc? We are staying here in May with a 50+ pound 6 year old and don't want to have to carry him too far if he falls asleep on the bus. :laughing: I have requested building 4 or 5 standard view. I am so excited and all of the pictures are absolutely gorgeous.

We stayed in building 4 last week and it is right between the bus stop and lobby/dining. You go out the back and there is a path right to the bus stop. Go out the front to the dining/gift store area. Is was a couple minute walk at most. It was nice!

The renovations just started this past week. They are working on building 7 right now...once they are done (I read that it should take a month for each building) I'm sure we will see a ton of new pics...hopefully late Nov/early Dec.

I dont know if this has been addressed before in this thread (I just started looking at it) but you can buy those balloons at WDW for like $25 (which you guys probably know). We had just landed at the Orlando airport and this little girl passed us with one. We had a luggage steward (is that what they are called? They helped us with our bags) tell us that the airport staff has to pop them before they get on the plane because they wont work in an airplane. He said he couldnt count how much money is wasted by people buying the balloons and them having to pop it before they get on the plane.

Is it just me, or are there no "hidden Mickey's" on the new bedspread?

There are hidden Mickeys on the new bedspreads, curtains and even carpet. Happy hunting! (there are some clues in the main POFQ FAQ thread by the way). Photos-wise though, you'll need to check out some detailed photos with better colour balance than the one above.

Question: I was moved from POR to POFQ to accomodate my room needs. It is our first trip and DH booked it for me as a surprise. Will he like FQ's? He loves the Disney feel, we usually stay Pop Century. It appears to me in pictures that FQ's is a bit more Disney?? Is this true?

POFQ is much smaller than POR. POFQ is more romantic, I think.

The themes, of course, are different, and which you'd prefer depends on what you like. But you can walk between the two resorts (or take the boat), so you can always check out POR easily, or go there to eat or use the pool there.

I would say that POFQ definitely has the Disney feel -- but in a more mature way than Pop Century. It is not as "loud" in terms of colors and decor except in the food court. The rest of the resort has a very peaceful feel to it, romantic as the pp said. I haven't been to any other resorts except POFQ but from looking at the pics of the value resorts, I would say that those resorts' atmospheres encourages "hurry up and go" while POFQ says "slow down and relax." If this is a trip for just you and your dh, I think you will absolutely love POFQ.

It's photos like this that make me smile when people pontificate that there's no point in having a water-view room at Port Orleans because you can't see it from the room anyway. Well that view certainly works for me!

Amazing photos guys!! I am sooooooooooooo excited!!!! So glad we ended up choosing POFQ now! How long does it take to walk to the food court at Riverside? We loved that when we were there in 2007.

Only 10-15 minutes, depending on where at POFQ your room is located of course - much quicker from building 7 than from 3.

So how long does it take to get to the hotel from the airport? How soon can we expect out checked luggage? Is it too cold to go swimming in October? I'm aware the pools are heated, but not looking to a massive hot to cold ratio. What are the pool hours?

That's right, the first week was just hotter than hot and the second week was not as bad. We were there Oct 25 to Nov 5. Getting up that first week and walking outside at 8 in the morning and having the humidity suck the life out of you was eye opening. Our hottest days up here are as bad but they don't start out that way. I remember one day that second week, we were trapped in the Land building, it was raining Cats and dogs. Locals loved it because it was the first rain in a long time, bought some ponchos and made the best of it.

We've been three times and every time we have arrived in the pouring rain. And every time we've been told that it hadn't rained in a long time and that people were really glad for the rain. I think FL should be paying us to come to WDW whenever they need rain because we seem to bring it with us!

To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with the food court. The beignets were delicious, but I perfer Pop's food court. I didn't like the decorations in POFQs.

Let me tell you, being an architect, we learn a lot about setting up photos that not only tell the story about the building or its surroundings, but also have someone wonder.... hmm, what is just around the corner.;)

I always strive to take photos like that, especially when I am at Disney.

These pictures are FABULOUS!!! We'll be at POFQ in 50 days, and now Im really looking forward to it. I requested something close to foodcourt and bus, but now Im thinking I should'v'e went for the pool.....:confused3

It will be just me, my husband and our 3 year old this trip; so we really wanted a smaller resort....easy to get around with the little guy. This is why we chose POFQ instead of POR. I've been reading through all the threads and this seems to be the consensus. We stayed at CB once, and all of the deluxe except AKL.

Im hoping for the best. If anyone has anymore pics to share, I'd love to see'em! Also any advice or info about POFQ is greatly appreciated...

If you stay at Riverside, you can always stroll over and walk around. It's a fairly short walk or boat ride between POR and POFQ.

we stayed at POFQ for our first Disney Property, and our grandsons just loved the pool area, we stayed in bldg 2, our next vist was in Bldg 5 I think. I liked that one since we were in the corner room, just felt larger

These pictures are beautiful, I can't wait to stay here! This is going to be our first time visiting the POFQ. We've stayed at POP and CBR. My dd always wants to stay at POP. This year it's a mom & dd only trip. I haven't told her we're going yet and I'm afraid shes going to be disappointed that we're not staying at POP. I hope the slide does it for her lol.

It is a gorgeous resort and I know you will all enjoy it. As for the size of the rooms... I don't think of them as small. We have stayed in every resort on WDW property but I have never thought of the moderate resort rooms as being small. They are smaller than those in the deluxe resorts, but not what I would consider small. I hope you will agree with me after you get there in January!

Oftheseas- Thanks for posting. I plan to sit in the walkway outside the room while my kids nap. Do you think they are wide enough for people to get by if I have a chair next to my door? Looks like the doors may even be at an angle, making more room.

There were quite a lot of people doing that when we were there and it was no trouble at all to get by so you enjoy the peace outside your room :)

There was also family with two little children who sat outside every afternoon in the corridor eating their beinets ... so as not to get the sugar all over the room, which I thought was really a good idea :thumbsup2

You're welcome. I hope you love POFQ as much as I do, I can't wait to go back. Love the refurbishment, great to have queen size beds rather than the doubles that were there before; the addition of a shelf under the sinks is really good; the color combinations and the bedspreads look so elegant now. :love: We had a great stay last month, all the CMs were so nice, we requested and were granted a late check out on our departure day, too. :) Buses were good except for one night after EMH at the MK when we waited 45 minutes!

Nope, all the fountains are still there. The campfire is off the river path behind building 6. We didn't do it, no time this trip, but they do give free marshmallows to kids for toasting.

But I like the trees! I am sad that they took out a perfectly good tree for this. In fact, I'm not real happy about the whole re-landscaping of POFQ that has been mentioned. I absolutely love the landscaping -- it is what "makes" POFQ for me.

Help! We r staying at FQ for Christmas this year and I am trying to figure out what color ornaments to get for our Christmas tree. In some of the pics the bedspread looks really purple and in others it looks more like a burgundy. I was going to do a Mardi Gras themed tree with the purple, teal and gold beads and masks with the little mickey ornaments in those colors as well and this really cool purple tree skirt that they have at Target but am worried that the purple wont work if the bedspread is burgundy. I know, I'm a little obsessed but Christmas at WDW is my families tradition and we've had a bad year so this is really important to me.

Can anyone tell me what the actual color is? Please!

I thought they were more purple. (I hate purple :rotfl:) But mardi gras colors abound in the resort so going with those color ornaments should be fine.

We have been trying to decide where to stay for our 2013 trip and after looking at these pics we have picked POFQ!

We have stayed in many different buildings but this past Christmas we requested a river view and ended up in Bldg 6 overlooking the campfire and the river. It was perfect. Close enough to everything but far enough away that things were very peaceful. I was worried that the smoke from the campfire might bother us but it wasn't an issue at all. My daughter loved being able to run down and catch the campfire then walk over to the yard where the movies were held. I've also stayed in a room overlooking the pool and wasn't as happy there as I was overlooking the river.

Depends on what features you are looking for - 4 is close to the main building and bus stop, 5 and 2 are closest to the pool, 1 and 7 are the most remote if you prefer peace and quiet, with 6 a nice compromise between everything. None are a very long walk to anywhere though, it's a very compact resort.

I tend not to look up much, usually see the floors more than I do the ceilings, no matter where I go. Wow -- I can understand now, since seeing your pics, why some kids would get freaked out by the heads in the FloatWorks. I've made three ten-day trips and never noticed how creepy they are.

The resort is so small that you really won't be far from anything (as compared to the other moderate resorts). There's a map on the first page of http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2650040 that can help you decide what is most important.

We stayed in building 3 which was awesome and incredibly close, but it was a very small resort and everything really is close together. Have fun!

We stayed in building 2 and found it perfect! But you honestly won't find any building inconvenient!

I just switched from the Poly to FQ. I was feeling kinda blue about this "downgrade" until I saw that photo above. OMG WOW! That will be my new desktop wallpaper for the next 77 days :) So beautiful! Now I can't wait to stay here!

We have stayed at both and while I would certainly go back to the Poly, FQ has much more of a resort feel to it. The grounds are fantastic.

When we visited this resort in Feb to see if we liked it, they were working on the area by the main building. Anyone have any pics of what they did there? I am assuming they are done since they have moved on to POR now.

The main visible difference is the large round planter/borders around the trees. Before, they had quaint ironwork grills directly around the bases of the trees, very reminiscent of those you might find in a big city street. Also they re-laid all of the paving.
