Hi all!! I wanted to let you know that I had rush my DD to the local hospital Thursday night. She started to get really bad with the shaking and my family doctor said to go to the ER. So we go, they run some tests and they think she has type 1 diabetes and want to transfer NOW to the regional trauma center. Apparently my local hospital doesn't have a good pediatric oncology unit and this other hospital does.
So at 4 in the morning her and I are enjoying a lovely ambulance ride:headache:
Anyway-the end result they don't know!! Her test results thus far have the doctor puzzled. They are some more test results due in next week.
In the mean time we are treating her as if she is diabetic. The Dr also thinks she may be experiencing anxiety attacks.
At any rate we are home now and are both exhausted!! I've had 1 hour of sleep in the past 54 hours. I'm running on adrenaline I think!
Please keep DD (Kayla) in your prayers!
Thanks!!
Kim

It is so hard when they aren't sure. Hope they figure out something soon, so they can find the right treatment.

 Kim. Hope you get some answers real soon. I can imagine how :worried: you must be. I don't think there is anything worse than being a parent when your child is sick and even worse when you don't really know why they are sick.
Take care and keep us updated when you get some answers and when you have time.

Quick update:
We took Kayla to see the Dr yesterday. All her tests came back that she is "normal" (yeah, I had fun teasing her with that one!). Meaning that as far as the tests go she does NOT have diabetes. Which is kind of what we thought. The Dr was so stumped and pulled the "I've never seen a case like this in all my 40 years of practicing medicine..." Umm, yep we weird like that - the whole lot of us :rotfl2:
What her problems were from - that's still a mystery. Although the problems that brought us to the hospital haven't resurfaced since. It's all very odd and I'm being to think it's more of a hormonal imbalance.
So we've step her down to almost no insulin and she's free to eat whatever. She's thrilled!! Her dance recital is tomorrow so we'll see how she does then.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and pixie dust. I do believe it helped!!

Who knew there was a test to determine "normal"?
:rotfl2:
I am glad she isn't saddled with diabetes, but I'm sorry you still don't know was wrong. Hopefully it was a one time thing.

:yay: glad to hear that things are going good. Hopefully you will find out in the future the cause of what happened so that a situation like that does not happen again.
Good luck to your daughter tomorrow. :cutie:
