Why is BD 2 meal credits?
I looked at the menu, and its prices are in line with other 1 TS restaurants.
Is it worth it to burn 2 meal credits on it, even as part of the Fantasmic package?

It is considered a "signature restaurant," or "upscale" dining experience.
If you are on the basic dining plan and you use the Fantasmic package, by all accounts I have read here, you get an appetizer included. You wouldn't get that if you went there without the Fantasmic package.

In terms of value for money it's probably not worth 2 credits, but Disney does class it as a signature.
We've never tried it as we've always done the DDP and didn't want to use two credits on it, however this trip we're on the DXDDP and have credits coming out of our ears, so are finally giving it a go.

In my opinion, no, it is not worth two credits. The food was very good, the restaurant was beautiful and the service was good. But I've also eaten at LeCellier, Coral Reef and a couple of other "nice" Disney restaurants and I don't think Brown Derby was any better than the other restaurants. I'm glad we went once, but we won't go there again and use two credits. It should be a 1 credit meal. Just my opinion, though.

I think it is 2 credits because there is no other 2 credit place in DHS and they wanted to have at least one in there, so they flipped a coin and Brown Derby won...

We ate there five years ago and were not impressed--food was no better than anywhere else (and part of it worse) and the service was terrible...and there were only five other tables filled in the place. Definitely not worth two credits in our book.

I love the BD but we are paying oop when we go and not using the plan because it is cheaper to just pay out of pocket. But I love their Cobb salad and it is a must place for me every visit

Don't know why it is a sig restaurant either. We went in April and NEVER NEVER again, not even if it were a 1 credit meal. Just not a good dining experience for us - food and service were mediocre at best.

When we went, I thought my entree was good, but the appetizer so-so. We had one waitress come up, she said "I will be your waitress today"...but after she found out we were on the dining plan she said "hang on" and she passed us off to some guy. Too bad for her, as we are excellent tippers.
Our reservation was for around 4:30, and it was extremely loud, to the point of distraction. We were thrilled to get out into the "quiet" of the park. The only reason we ate there was for a Fantasmic package, but my daughter got a stomach ache right after dinner (no, I do not think it was related to the Brown Derby's food) so we didn't get to catch Fantasmic. She's wanting to go to Fantasmic this upcoming trip, so I do have another ADR for Brown Derby, but frankly I'm thinking about cancelling it, and just trying our luck without "preferred seating".
I don't think Brown Derby is worth two credits. Not when you could have Narcoosee's, Yachtsman's, or California Grill for the same credits.

That's what I was thinking about doing myself; taking a walk or a boat over to the Yachtsman, and doing Fantasmic without the package.
Or is that too much of a hassle?

I had this reservation but I decided to cancel it after looking at the menu.

I love the Brown Derby but I don't think it's worth 2 credits and the Fantasmic Dinner Package is useless. We booked it last year because of Fantasmic and ended up in the same seats we would have had without the package.
I'll definitely eat there again and pay OOP but I won't waste 2 credits. Love the Cobb Salad-if you've never had it you need to try it at least once.

Fantasmic without the package is just fine!! We prefer the regular seating, you can actually see better in the middle where the regular seats are. We have done it both ways. Just my opinion. DHS needs new and better dining options.
