May 31-June 2, What's happening??

I've been trying to book a room for the weekend after memorial day (may 31-June2) and I'm having difficulty. Is there anything big happening that weekend??

That's the start of the so-called 'Gay day' (it lasts a week nowdays). I presume that's why it's busy.

French Quarter is reopening that weekend. I had no trouble getting reservations there for a short stop over on the 31st.

Where were you planning on staying? We're always there over Memorial day through the following weekend and have never found the crowds all that heavy.

The "Gay Day" activities draw a big crowd. However, the crowd tends to go in packs. They have activities at parks all over the city and if you can find out which park has which activity, you can just kind of plan around that. I was there for part of the week last year and had no problems with crowds, but there was a big article in the Orlando paper explaining how many people this brings in (LOTS!!!) and what was happening where each day. It is quite an event. This has to be a big money maker for Disney and all the area attractions.
