Just curious what all of you think is the best, quietest, and most convenient area of the ship.

Thanks :) :) :) :p :p :p

Personally, I think it depends on what you want to be close to.

During our first cruise last September, DH and I stayed in Cabin 6538, which is Forward. We loved it, since we could take the Forward elevator right up to the adults-only pool. We don't have kids, so it was perfect.

I can't speak for the parents out there, but I would think that if you had little kids, you would want to be Aft (near Mickey's pool).

We found the Forward area of the ship to be quiet, but we did have noisy neighbors on one side. Unfortunately, that's one thing you can't pick...your neighbors.

We were about as close to the middle of the ship as you can get on Wonder -- 6083, and loved it. It was quiet, convenient to the elevator, and not a far walk up the stairs to deck 9 when I felt like I needed some exercise.

We just booked our next Wonder cruise, and we'll be in 6081, which is right next door. This was just a coincidence, but I'm thrilled!

We had room 6066 on the Wonder - right near the elevators and smack dab in the middle. LOVED IT! Very convenient and wasn't loud whatsoever!

We've had a forward stateroom and an aft stateroom and we much prefer being aft. Less movement.

As far as movement of the ship, it's good to be near midship for reasons of simple physics - less overall up and down movement of the ship in the middle. However, with the advanced stabilizers, etc. it's really not too bad anywhere. We will be in an aft stateroom this fall (Cat 3 - yeah!!) and I am not worried about the rocking of the ship. As far as your location in proximity to things, you need to decide what you think you'd want closest. Decide if you want to be close to the pools, the theater, or whatever, and request a room in that area. We were in 7076 midship last year, and it was great. It seemd we could get anywhere we needed to be pretty fast. By about the 3rd day, our kids new that ship inside and out and could get anywhere in record time!!

P.S. - We ALWAYS used the stairs, never the elevators. First, the elevators always seemed sloooooow, and you could walk to where you were going before the elevator even got there! Second, after the way I ate in the dining rooms, I needed the excercise! ;)

I like aft for several reasons: Three of the four restaurants are aft, as well as the buffet. The coffee station is aft. And the (not so) "secret" balcony is aft on deck 7. In fact, deck 7 aft, in one of the Navigtor's Verandah rooms, is my favorite stateroom location.

As far as feeling the ships' movement, I don't really notice a difference from one part of the ship to another. It seems to me that the ship moves more side to side than forward to aft. Overall, I don't really notice the movement after the first evening when I generally get my "sea legs."

AFT AFT AFT AFT :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I LOVE being in the butt end of the ship. My all-time favorite stateroom is 5650, as it is as far back as you can get, and Deck 5 is the lowest deck with verandahs (I like to be as close to the water as possible). There is virtually no hallway noise...you can hear the hum from the engines, but I find that very soothing (of course, even at home I sleep with a white noise machine).
But so much of what you like will be based on your personal preference. Some people prefer to be closer to the elevators or are really bothered by the engine noise, and others prefer to be as high as possible or do not like the solid metal verandahs in the aft area (as opposed to the plexiglass ones). But personally, if I won the lottery, I'd put a permanent hold on 5650. In my view, aft is the best.

I think being in midship is really the most convenient. You are central to everything, never having to go too far in one direction.

we were in the very front of the ship on deck 5 over NYE and it was just fine. In fact I didn't think I felt much motion at all, so it was humorous when we got home and I kept listing to the sides!!!!!! But, as far as the ship went, no problems up front.

I was glad to read this post. I was wondering about the same thing. When I reserved our staterooms I asked my Vacation Club planner what she thought and she said that staying in the middle of the ship would have less motion. Being that we will are new cruisers we were not sure if we would get seasick and did not want to take the chance. So she booked us in rooms 6085 and 6087. I was happy to read the posts that rooms in this area were very close to elevators and such. Thank you so much for the information. Any one else ever stay on deck 6?

Anyone ever stay in first 3 staterooms (forward). If so, how is the motion.

My husband and I stayed in a forward cabin on our first cruise and LOVED it. I personally think people make too big a deal about where they are in location to other things on the boat. To us, the boat felt much smaller than we thought it would and nothing was every very far away. I think my top tip for people after our cruise is don't worry so much about where you stay because you will have a great time anywhere! As far as motion goes, although I never visited any midship or aft staterooms, when the seas were rough I don't recall a huge different midship or forward in the ship's motion. I'm a bad one to judge, though, because I think the motion is part of the fun of being on the ship.

Being at the end of the hall was also very quiet. I think if you are forward, you can be at the end of the hall and be closer to the elevators than if you are aft. I don't sleep with a white noise machine so I don't think I would like listening to the engines, but I do love any motion of the ship and it helped me sleep like a rock (but that is personal preference!)

I stayed in 7072, Cat 5 mid-ship and LOVED it. The only motion I felt at all was a slight side-to-side rocking the last night. Next month I'm economizing a bit by staying in 7628, aft, in one of the Navigator's Verandah rooms. Both are Deck 7, which I think I will stick with for any future cruises. Yes, I like the not-so-secret balcony that is on Deck 7 aft. But unless you plan to spend A LOT of time in your cabin, I don't think location should be a big concern. Just ENJOY!

Which appears to be just about as far forward as you can possibly get. I'm somewhat concerned about sea sickness as well. Usually I only feel the motion the first night going out but am ok after that. I hope that being this far forward is not a problem for us. I will post my experience when I return but unfortunately that will not be until Sept.

Hey Sonja, we are in room 7000, and I also am concerned about the movement. We are going in June, and i will post back if we have any problems with motion. I plan on getting the patch, so if there is any problems, hopefully that will nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand.

Enjoy your cruise!
