Okay... Looks like I am in charge of the June weight loss challenge!
For newbies.... just post your goal weight loss for the month of June asap. Then after you weigh in every week come and post your loss and where you are compared to your goal for the month.... EXAMPLE: -6/8 (Clear as mud, huh?)
I am no computer whiz and I am "math-challenged" so no fancy spreadsheets here, but I will update the first page every week with everyone's progress.
Since I still have 8 pounds to go to reach my July 4th goal, I will put my June goal at 8 pounds!!.................................P
Updates as of 7/1/2008
Pjlla 0/8 :sad2:
mikamah 1.8/5 :)
bailey2007 2/5::yes::
bonna girl 7/5 :cool1:
Mary Anne 13.5/7 :cheer2:
goinducky 0/5
NWPrincess 3/8 :thumbsup2
wezee 2/5::yes::

Thanks pjilla, for starting this challenge. I haven't been losing the past few months, but am on a new track, and would love to join you for this challenge. I want to lose 5 pounds this month, so 0/5 for me.

Please add me. I am going for 5 lbs this month. I was going to pick 8 but I'm going to be on vacation for a little more then a week so I thought I should be more conservative. Tomorrow is my weigh in day and right now I'm 0/5.

I'm a newbie too, but my goal is 8 pounds. That's two pounds a week. I know it's ambitious, but I'm really trying hard to achieve it!

Okay June folks.... here is a "quote for the day" to help keep you motivated. I did post it recently somewhere else here, but just in case you didn't see it....
IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL.
So true in many different areas of our lives, including healthy eating. For example.... a few days ago I was out running some errands and knew I would be out through lunch time. I planned ahead and brought a small cooler bag with a can of seltzer, some Weight Watchers cheese, an apple, and a Curves bar for a treat. It was a perfect lunch. Low points, healthy protein, low fat..... plus the Curves bar was a real treat! Had I not planned this lunch I would have ended up either buying an expensive salad at a drive-thru and probably still had too many points, or I would have opted for a cheap "Value menu" type lunch and just gone off the deep end as far as calories goes.
So I challenge you to think ahead and PLAN... not just for today, but for the long term. PLAN to eat healthier, PLAN to exercise, PLAN to track your eating, PLAN to drink enough water, PLAN to be a healthier you!........P

Thanks so much for starting this challenge!!!! My ultimate goal is to lose 5 more lbs by our Sept. WDW trip.....so I might as well go for it all at once......I will try to lose the whole 5 lbs. by July 4th. So that makes me 0/5 so far. Thanks again and good luck all.:thumbsup2

That's a great quote. Kudos to you for planning. I work in a hospital, and was addicted to the lorna doones cookies. I would have at least one or two packs/day, but now always bring an extra snack for the afternoon when I would need a little pick me up. I am now 3 weeks lorna doone free. I really was addicted. If there was a cookies anonymous, I would be there.

Today was my WW weigh in day. I lost 1.8 lbs so if I'm doing this right, I'm 1.8/5. :cool1:
I agree about the planning. :thumbsup2 That is 90% of the challenge. I am going to Disney  in about 10 days and I've started buying WW snacks and non perishable foods to keep me going and satisfy any cravings. I'm also building in some Disney treats. I've discovered on one of the threads that a 1/2 cup of DoleWhip is only 2 points. I plan on having at least one cup (I'll share with my son) at least twice during the trip. :yay:

I haven't lost any weight and I'm getting discouraged. I have been good on my diet AND I have been working out HARD for an hour everyday. For the last week, the scale has said 165 and hasn't budged. :(

I was down .6 friday for 0.6/5 this month. I'm back on track after an unhealthy eating weekend. Weekends can be so hard, and it is so hot here, I can't think about exercising. The heat is supposed to break tomorrow night, so I'm planning to exercise wed- sat this week.
NWPrincess- Hang in there and don't give up. Some times when you are exercising more, your muscles retain some fluid, and it will all settle out. It is so frustrating when we are doing so well and the scale doesn't show it, but if we stick with it, it will.

Don't give up NWPrincess - weight loss is a novel with many chapters. Don't let one bad chapter end your novel.... corny ::yes:: but it is a thought.

I was down 4.6 today - so that makes 6.5 down out of a 5.
I did set a very conservertive number this month as I'm leaving on vacation in a few days. In any case. I am going to revise that goal to 7.0 lbs now for the month. That gives me someting to strive for and keeps me honest for the month. So I'm now -6.5/7.0 I hope it's OK to do this.

Wow.... two good numbers in a row! Hopefully this thread is on a roll and the Friday weigh-in folks will post good numbers (me included, but it has definitely been an iffy week for me).
Mary Anne... it is perfectly okay for you to change your goal number. This thread and others like it are here to HELP you! If changing your goal number helps, by all means, go for it! If I thought it would help me more, I would change my goal to 50 pounds for the month! But I'll be struggling to make my current goal!
I'll be checking back in tomorrow morning (hopefully, if I am not running late), with my weight. I'll be dreaming thin dreams tonight!...............P

Well.... I shouldn't be surprised to be +.4 this week. I haven't been faithful to my food journaling and I only made it to the gym once. Plus I am ovulating (sorry if this is TMI) and I always bloat at this time.... much more so then when AF is visiting. Sorry to be setting such a poor example.
Overall for June -1.2/8
I won't be reaching my personal birthday goal, but I still have a small chance of making the June monthly goal! Here's to renewed intent!.......P

I had to walk my b*tt off last night (Leslee Sansone..Walk Away the Pounds..4 mi.).....but weighed in this morning with a
-1 lb. loss. This was no small task, considering I had gained 2 lbs. last weekend from too much wine (Saturday)and too many margaritas (Sunday).
So I am 2/5 so far this month. Steady but slow.

Today's inspiration is...
"If you BITE it, you WRITE it! I know that this may not apply to all "diet" plans, but it certainly does apply to Weight Watchers and other calorie tracking plans.
It is SO easy to forget a nibble or a bite or even a whole snack or meal! I'm trying to get better about this. I was RELIGIOUS about it in the late winter and spring, but have been lax about it lately and it shows on the scales. I'm trying to even remember to write BEFORE I bite. I've started keeping a small spiral bound notebook with me because it is not always easy to get to the computer to journal what I am eating. If I can write it in my notebook, I can always type it in later and I won't be forgetting it.
I challenge ALL of you to journal EVERY BITE that enters your mouth this week. Good luck....................P

I weighed in this morning - I am down another 2 lbs so for the month I am 6/5. Now comes the hard part... keeping it off til the end of the month as I have picnics and buffets to attend the next two weekends in a row.
How does everyone else do it when it comes to picnics and buffets? I have a hard time saying NO....

Bring along something to share that you can eat (salad, fruit) and then just have tiny portion(s) of the other foods. I've started trying to do this for most family gatherings and it is SO much easier. Especially when it comes to desserts. If I bring a treat for myself, it is much easier to avoid the cheesecakes and ice cream and cookies!
Anyhow, I have updated the weight loss totals through today on the first page!..........................P

Well... the scale was kind, despite two birthday dinners and Father's Day lasagna and cake! I am -1.2 today, which brings me to -2.4/8. A loooooong way from my goal, but I'm not discouraged. I still have almost two weeks (one of which I will be away on a mini-vacation with DS, so it will be tough to be good), but I might be able to pull it off! Plus I am only .4 away from hitting a 40 lb loss. It would be great to hit that next week... AND I am only .6 away from having a new number in the tens place. A number I havent' seen in about 10+ years! So I am setting a personal goal to hit that number next week!
Hope the "scale fairy" is kind to all of you this week!..........................P

I did not weigh in this past week as I am on vacation. However I have only had one day that I went slightly over my daily WW points and I have racked up a lot of points walking. Let me tell you I've discovered that Epcot is the park to rack up those points LOL Have a great day all.

I am 7/5 for the month.

I weighed in today after 2 weeks -- I lost 7 lbs so I'm 13.5 down for the month.
Next month I am going to be more agressive. For next week's weigh in, I'm going to 1/2 whatever loss of hopefully not GAIN for the week and put that in July. So for the month I was -13/5 out of 7.

Well folks...the June challenge is over. And it looks like most of you did great! MaryAnne is the "big loser" this month! I have updated the totals on the first page.
Sadly, I had a TERRIBLE month. Too many birthdays and holidays other poor excuses. Actually, what really killed me was the last few days of camping with DS. I gained 3 pounds in 4 days! And I don't feel like I ate to an extreme, but I didn't PLAN well enough and ended up eating things I would normally avoid. (There is that pesky work, PLAN, again!). I've taken off one of the three already, but it has totally wiped out the pitiful amount I actually did lose last month. Well, onward and downward!
I'll wait to see if anyone picks up on a July monthly challenge. If not perhaps I will start one??. ....................P

I really need someone to start a July thru August weight loss challenge. I kind of pooped out of the June challenge and with the food and booze over the 4th gained 2 lbs. back! It would be nice to have at least one more challenge before a bunch of us eat ourselves to death on free dining in Sept.!!

I've been waitaing for someone to do it too. I'm going to go ahead and do it now.
