I'm not the only one! I got my first DSLR for Christmas and we took a daytrip two weeks ago to AK. After deleting the bad ones, I had 444 pics. I can only imagine how many I will have with our next long trip. Wish our stay at CBR was sooner!

I've got to let my husband read this. At first he thought I was crazy taking soooo many pictures but, over the years, and especially this past trip, he was all into the pictures too. He wouldn't put anything down in our room until I had taken pictures of the new Nemo room. About half way through the trip, he said....we forgot to take pictures of our food for you to post on your discussion boards. ;)

Too funny. My DH doesn't get as excited about WDW as me, but he is always telling me of little occurrences I need to post in my TR etc. You reminded me, I have to remember to not carry anything into our room when we check in at CBR so I can get pics of the pirate rooms. We can normally destroy a hotel room in about 5 minutes, ok, we do that with our house also.

I got my husband use to all my picture taking obsession:lmao:

On our Disney trip last year he was the one reminding me to take a pic of the food before we start to eat it:lmao:

I feel your pain. This is why I only took a few. I had the family hold-off on destroying the room for a few minutes when we arrived while a took a few pristine pics as promised to the dissers.

Wonderful, beautiful pictures!!!

CBR was our first ever resort at WDW and we are so excited to be going back!!! These pictures are great to set the mood!! Our youngest dd has never been to CBR - she really wanted to stay at ASMo or ASMu but when I showed her these pics she perked right up and started ooohing and ahhhing!

As for pictures - my kids call me the "Mamarazzi" because I am a point and click fool! I have a 4GB and a 2GB I take with us on all of our vacations (I keep 2 smaller cards stashed too!). On our DCL last year I took over 2000 pictures!!! The kids will argue about something and I tell them WAIT, I have photographic evidence!!! :rotfl: Shuts 'em up every time ;)

Thanks for the pics of the Pirate rooms - we got one for our vacation in October and I am psyched! The new kiddie pool looks so cute too. I am normally a commando tour guide - but I upgraded to a mod resort so that we could relax and enjoy the resort too.

I have a few. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera on the right setting and they didn't come out so well. So it does actually look better than this!

This was the evening we spent on the Jamaica beach. The kids fed the ducks and played on the playground and in the sand while DH and I relaxed on a hammock! :cloud9:

I had been leaning toward POFQ for our next stay. But I am leaning toward CBR now.
I know this has probably been asked a million times, but with the size of the resort, how are the buses? Is it easy to get to the buses from any room?

You're welcome! :goodvibes

There is a bus stop in each village, plus one at OPR. So you are never far from one. Some buses start at Jamaica and some start at Martinique. If you happen to get on the bus at the very first stop and have to make all the other stops it takes about 8 minutes. Yes, I timed it! Once leaving the resort it takes 3 minutes to get to DHS, 5 to Epcot, 9 to DTD, and 11 to AK & MK. We had the best bus service when we were there this earlier this year, with 90% of the waits being 5 minutes or less.

3 more sleeps until we are at CBR-Pirate Room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have stayed at this resort 2 other times along with AKL and Beach Club. WE WERE NEVER_EVER DISPPOINTED HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! It's always been clean, well kept, beautiful landscaping/gardening and so "tropical feeling"! For anyone trying to decide...it's wonderful. Plus, if you do rent a csr, or drive, parking is just outside each village. Very close. (At the delux lodges, the walk to the main parking lot can be quite a trek) We have had rooms in Jamaica and Trinidad South, both locations were enjoyable.

We can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

No, you cannot swim in the water at any of the lakes in Disney, due to parasites in the water that can make you extremely ill.

The cannons are on the Caribbean Cay Island. If you are walking across the island going from Aruba/Jamaica to OPR, take the path on the left. If you are walking from OPR towards Aruba/Jamaica take the path on the right!

Does the bus go the parks straight from the village stops?
Or do you take one bus to the main building and then the resort bus to the parks?

the buses go straight to the parks, though be warned they do make a stop at EVERY village, so depending on where on the route you are, you will be sitting on the bus for a while as it stops at each village.

There is an interior resort bus that will take you from your village to Old Port Royale, but it seems to come rather infrequently and it is much faster to just walk from your village there.

I noticed you had a small pool outside your room.

The pirate rooms are in Trinidad South, which is about a 5-7 minute walk(depending on your speed) up to Old Port Royale and the main pool.

Pirate room May 8-16th!

Just got back froma pirate room and wanted to give a review........IT WAS G-R-E-A-T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, we lucked out with an upper level, corner room...So, that means more quiet(less people walking right past your window etc) AND more light (corner rooms have 2 large windows instead of just 1). From our left window we were able to see the lake and the beautiful landscaping, and from the right window, the courtyard below filled with lush, tropical landscaping. So beautiful! This was considered a standard pirate room, so seeing the lake was such a pleasant surprise!

The rooms look awesome. Beds, 'plank floor"look carpet, skull on curtain that separates vanity area, Pirates of the Caribbean picture on wall, crate/barrel furniture, trunk, compass decorated table/chairs, and...even the bathroom has pirate touches. A new pirate ship patterend shower curtain and a beautifully carved pirate ship on the wall of the shower/tub area. The theming is perfect!!!! Not silly, very cool. And, storage is EXCELLENT. The crate furniture is extra deep so it holds a ton! I had brought a box of cereal with for breakfast in the room, and standing it up in the drawer, there was still a few inches to the top of the drawer! They're extra deep! The trunk is also a large drawer, again, extra deep. no skinny "hotel room" dresser drawers in this room anywhere! We were able to store our things, plus everything we had purchased with no problems.

Even though we did rent a car, we took a walk to old port royale for dinner one evening. So nice and peaceful. It did not take more than 6 minutes, and was very beautiful as the path is next to the lake. Upon reaching Old Port Royale, you see lots of colorful umbrellas shading tables by the water, the awesome pirate fort pool and hear steel drum and calypso music. So great! It feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the real world, and...isn't that what a vacation is for? Disney's themeing here is to-die-for!

We have stayed at Beach Club, Beach Club Villas and Animal Kingdom Lodge, and this, even though it is in a different resort category, was IN NO WAY, INFERIOR to those others. This was WONDERFUL! The rooms are awesome, the quiet pool is close if you just want a quick swim, the lake is just around the bend for a beautiful sight, the walk to Old Port Royale was pleasant, the Pirate Pool looked awesome if you do want to swim there as well, staff was friendly, housekeeping did a good job. Parking is close to the room if you do rent a car, and if not, the bus stops are in each village as well. I can't wait to go back, I miss it already and it's only been a few days!!!!!!! I just wanted to tell all of you what a great stay it was!

Yes the buses go straight from your CBR village to the parks! You can get on the bus at whatever stop you are closest to. Some of the buses start at Martinique and some start at Jamaica before they make all the other village stops. If you happen to get on at the first stop it takes about 7-8 minutes to make all the other stops before leaving the resort. Once the bus leaves the resort it is 3 minutes to DHS, 5 to Epcot, 9 to DTD, and 11 to MK & AK.

There is a quiet pool in each village, so there will be one close to you no matter where your room is. From Trinidad South (pirate rooms) to the main pool is about a 5-8 minute walk depending on where your room is.

Wow, the corner room looks great, I should put that in on my requests. We leave in 25.

Last time we went we were in Aruba and for the most part, the bus seemed to pick up at Jamaica and then Aruba and then leave for the parks without going around to the rest of the stops. Occasionally it did go around. Maybe it has something to do with capacity??

What requests should I make for our trip? I am thinking of a prefered building. It will be my 79 yo mother and myself. Is Martinique closer to the food court? She cant walk up stairs, so should we request a first floor?? Anything else would be appreciated.

If you book preferred you will be very close to OPR no matter where they put you. But Martinique 25 & 26 or Trinidad North 31 would be the closest to OPR if you want to request one of those. I would definitely request a ground floor for your mother.

Good luck! :wizard:

Hi! I know what you mean about the questioning your decision. I was really doing this a little while back. I have since read some great reviews about CBR and the pirate rooms so I told myself, "go with your first choice and don't even think about the other options" There are just way too many options and it's hard to pick one and stick with it. My boys LOVE pirates though so I think it will be great. It would be really neat if we saw eachother there. This will be our first time onsite and our first time doing character meals (you can check out our story in the trip report link in my sig if you want) so I'd love to talk to you about them.

Lucky! I'm still waitin' on August to get here.

I guess I should go back and add a bit to my earlier post. The 900+ pictures were what the guy at the camera shop was able to retrieve. When we got home from our vacation, I connected my camera to my computer and somehow my pictures vanished! After crying for two days, I took the camera to the camera shop and he retrieved some of the pictures. I know that I am missing all of our first travel day, some from our arrival day, some from our anniversary day and a few from our second day at Epcot. I was just glad he was able to retrieve any of them.

Have fun on your trip. Come back with lots of pictures to share and a trip report for us to read.

Hope some of you will come over and read the trip report I finally started. The link is in my signature.

All these pics keep inspiring me to head over there and take some pics - I haven't stayed at this resort in years, and had forgotten how pretty it is. I tried on my trip a few weeks ago, but only got 2 or 3 photos as a massive thunderstorm dropped over us, and I was stranded mostly to the main building interior! Next trip, I want to make it to the pool area and the island.

That was the little slide -- I took some of the photos from the top of the big slide castle structure... here's that:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j77/catbertdave99/newslideentrance.jpg

I think it's 82 ft long and it's all inside the castle structure. I went down it several times, but little kids were able to handle it just fine... lots of moms and dads waiting for them at the bottom... I probably scared them when I came out the bottom!:rotfl2:

That's the main theme pool at Old Port Royale, where the food court, gift shops, pool bar, and game arcade are also located. There are no rooms there.

There is a smaller, quiet pool in every village. The closest villages to Old Port Royale and the main pool are Trinidad North, and part of Martinique, which are preferred locations costing more nightly.

The closest standard locations are the villages of Jamaica and Aruba.

The children's pool has 3 slides. The main pool has 2 slides - one is shorter and open, the other is longer and enclosed - tube-like. Not sure of the length of them.

The pool is probably 4-5 feet deep at the deepest parts. Not exactly sure. Maybe you should ask over on the CBR FAQ, someone probably knows over there!

Let me think... I believe the deepest part (which is only like in the center drain) was about 4'11". That's in the main pool. There are many shallow areas where my kids could just walk around. But other areas were like 4'5" and 4'9" and stuff. Some parts are like 3' and 4'. Also there's a zero entry section.
The quiet pool in Barbados was also good because even my youngest (6) could walk in the beginning part as it was 3' and then got to 4'. Also other 4' something numbers. But then it goes up down the end and I believe that went to 5". You could tell the sections good, and the numbers are well marked on the pools.

Thank you for the pics. It is very helpful for my daughters to be able to see and discuss where we will be staying, what the room will look like, where they will sleep, etc. Especially for my youngest, who cried all night the first night of our hotel stay on a trip we took. Does anybody have a picture of the king bed rooms? For our honeymoon (which is coming up!) we requested a king sized bed, and it's on our confirmation. Dunno if that means that we'll actually *get* the request, but it'd be nice to see what the room looks like in advance.

I'm curious! Thanks a lot :)

There was a bounceback offer on the table. It only went through December, 2009 so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it. I do have it in my stuff at home. Let me know if you want details and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks but not necessary. I'll be there in 10 days. I was just curious because they offered a free dining bounceback last year when we were there. That's how we booked this trip. I guess they're concentrating more on the immediate future and getting those bookings up.

What kind of camera do you have? Your pictures are just super. I'll be keeping an eye out for the report then.

One month--but who is counting? ;)

A Kodak Easy Share. I don't remember what model. It went kerplunk four days into our trip and we had to make a 2:00 a.m., yes I said 2:00 a.m., run to WalMart to buy another camera.

Hey girl!

I need to you help a fellow CBR lover out. We are actually thinking about staying at one of the Port Orleans resorts next year. You know we love the CBR but think we want a change. Please come back from your trip with tons of information and lots of pictures.

Lisa

I will be sure to give you a detailed report with lots of pics!! I am so excited to see what we think about POR after having stayed at all the other moderates.

It's always fun to try new things! :goodvibes

I still can't believe you went to WalMart at 2:00AM !

We haven't even made a decision to try another resort and already we are having doubts. Last night we wondered if we should stick with the CBR but stay in a pirate room. Then, at lunch, John said he was sure going to miss the CBR beaches. We are just too funny!

That's what I am thinking, the next time we go to CBR we will do the pirate room! That way we will be at our favorite resort, but we will be trying something new at the same time! pirate:

I know a lot of people like to try different resorts or want to stay at them all, but sometimes it is best to stick with what you are happy and comfortable with. I'm already second guessing our decision to do a split stay next year (and now our oldest and his gf want to go with us).

It's just soooo hard changing from something you know you love. But, then again, I'd love to stay/see some place new. Who knows what we'll end up doing. In the meantime, I'm going to keep posting questions on the other moderate resort boards to see if that'll help us decide.

The next few pics are a bit blurry. Sorry. I had just bought a new camera and didn't know for sure how to operate it.

The family in front of us didn't know what kind of watercraft they wanted to rent so it was taking them a little while to figure it out. Oh well, it gave me time to take more pictures:

After about 10 minutes or so, my husband was able to get the surrey bike rented and we were off on our bicycle tour of the resort. Some of the pictures are a little blurry or lopsided. I took them while we were pedaling away. We started out at Martinique and went counter clock wise around the resort.

My pics are back up if you want to take a peek. I also just posted quite a few new ones.

When we got to this point, we could see the big hill that we had to go up and started pedaling pretty fast. I did manage to get one picture before we started our fast and furious pedaling.

Whew! We made it to the top and were ready to start coasting down another hill.
