I had so much fun last night loading my stereo with music! OMG, who knew I could find such cool stuff to play in my room. I was floored when I found the one song by 20 Fingers. I even found old Bob & Tom radio bits, Like I want a (4 letter word for breast) job for Christmas. :rotfl:

I think the stereo is my favorite part of SW.

If anyone is looking for LilGreenMan, look in Small Worlds under LilGreen Man.

It's my choice so far. On the positive note, Small Worlds is inventive with the widgets and the missions (beta though they may be), and I like a game that does it's own thing rather than try to copy a previous game. 'nuff said.

edited: I apologize for the sarcasm (just read the dis rule sticky) about virtual family kingdom that i previously posted. Just realized it's against disboard rules and that my frustration at vfk's lack of a good interface, design, etc. got the better of me.

i dont know which is which, but the major differences between types are some are seeqpod (searchable songs you can add to a play list) and last.fm which are more like you pick the style and its a radio station and it just does its thing

I did not have last.fm so thats what I remember reading, not first hand.

Oh my gosh! THANK YOU!! That was the one I was leaning towards simply bc it was so small. Ah, I would have wasted my hard-earned tokens on that.

I'll buy the full stereo instead. :thumbsup2

The boombox is the last.fm radio. You chose a type of station (Disney, jazz, etc), and then it plays like a radio. Ie, just like a radio, some songs are good & some aren't. It doesn't seem to have any of the pay to play a certain song that someone mentioned. If it has that option, I don't know where to find it. As I'm not a picky music type person and don't really have favorite songs I wanted to pick and chose on a play list at this time, it is a good starter for me. Eventually I'll want one of each. The boombox is easier, the stereo more customizable. I'm also having trouble being able to hear the seeqpod steroes on my computer. I sometimes get one or two songs I can hear in a friend's room, then nothing but an error message, even if i log out and back in.

How do you get to display your own Flicr account photos on your photo frame. Thanks to Bugdozer, I do now know how to get to the configure and search for photos with a subject/title/user. And to put the portrait orientation in the poster item, and the landscape orientation in the framed photo item. But when I search for my Flickr account photos, nothing comes up. In my account, they are selected to public. But I take it there is still something in the Flickr side that I have to set for them to come up on the Small Worlds side. What am I missing this time?

golden i just type my flickr name in the search bar and they all pop up. If you tried that, then yeah I think mess with your photostream on flickr? Post back if you continue to have issues, maybe a smart person will come around :rotfl:

I didn't have to pay anything to play my boombox.

Also, you may have to reload the photos if you move the frame to another wall.

The last.fm radios you can create your own playlist. Just sign up with last.fm then go looking for music that you like. Create your playlist then open up your last.fm radio in the game and type in your account name to find your playlist.

The last.fm account it totally free. :)

Just thought maybe this could be a sticky at the top of this thread....

Pet tricks in order:
* stay
* follow
* here
* beg
* jump
* spin
* chase tail
* side jump
* shake jump
* circle jump
* jump and spin

Some people have shared that their pet skipped a trick, but this is the general order in which they are learned. Also, if you pat another person's pet frequently, the pet will come to know you as well and come to you when you enter a room.

That's all we have discovered so far, but I was talking with Tony yesterday (you know, Aengus' BFF) and he said there are around 16 tricks, so we still may be missing a few.

Met an actual mod yesterday - James Smallworlds. The other staff I've met have all been something else (art dept., game designer, etc.)

Just wondering if ya'll knew what the different levels of membership were...I found this in the SW forums and thought it was very interesting:

Here are the levels of space membership in order from lowest to highest:

Member: They can enter your space if you have it set to members only.

Contributor: Same as Member, but they can also place items from their inventory into your space. The items still belong to them though, so if they are removed, they go back into their inventory.

Officer: Same as contributor, but they can change the space configuration (name, description, decor, snapshot) and change space membership for levels below Officer. They also have full rights to any item in the space and can boot anyone from the space with a level lower than Officer.

Owner: Same as officer, but they have full control over space membership and space security (open, members only, password). They can boot anyone from the space, except for SmallWorlds admins.

These membership levels are also used to set item security. This lets you choose which level of space membership can Use, Edit or Move a particular item in your space.

Yes, these levels are used for all sorts of controls.

For example:
If you put a gate in your house anywhere, you can set who can open and close your gate based on their "level" of membership that you assign. So, for example, if you want a gate in your room that no one can open except for 1 other person, you could set the gate to officer rights and assign just that 1 person officer level rights.

It's a great tool when you learn exactly how to use it.

I just spoke with Fred Smallworlds. We asked abut the mini-golf mission and being unable to get into shops and public places. He said there will be an update in 2 - 3 hours that will require a server restart, and that this should fix the problems we've been having. (He wasn't specific about which problems, but I assume it's only the problems in SW, not in real life.):lmao:

I made some interesting discoveries today.

A while back I lost my original avatar, Alice Blue, when I tried to delete a clone. According to a staff member who posted in the Technical Issues forum, if you put the name of your deleted avatar in the "Multiple Avatars" thread, they will be able to restore it. Has not happened yet, but we will see.

Anyway, today I decided to make a new avatar on that account to see what would happen. I can still access the original room by typing "aliceblue" at the end of the web address, and everything is still there. Not only that, but even though the items appeared in the room, they also appeared in my new avatar's inventory, and I was able to send them to another character. Plus, I was able to use the tokens that had not been spent.

So if you accidently lose an avatar, remember your account is still there and can be useful. Don't abandon it!

Also, I noticed that I couldn't send a gift to one of my other characters, but I could send a gift from one character to a friend, and have that friend send a gift to another of my characters. :goodvibes

Hey, Mint! I believe there is a breakdown on the small worlds wiki. I'm just too lazy to look it up...heh.

Well, I see where it lists the missions, but it doesn't look like they say what you win for completing each of them.
I started working on this in the wiki today, but am far from finished. I did get all the missions listed, and am working on describing each mission and it's rewards.
I know how many experience points each mission awards, and the extras (graffiti board, etc.) but I don't know how to tell how many tokens are awarded. (I have an idea where to look, but haven't had the chance yet.)
The explorer missions are the only ones I have even close to finished. Here's what I have so far:
Explorer Missions:

* Tutorial mission 1 – Shopping Reward: 100 xp

Click on shops icon, go to Mary’s Antiques.

* Tutorial mission 2 – Purchasing Reward: 100 xp
Purchase an oaken chair from Mary’s Antiques

* Tutorial mission 3 – Going Home Reward: 100 xp
Click on places icon, click house to go to your space.

* Tutorial mission 4 – Furnishing Reward: 100 xp
Click on inventory icon. Drag image of chair from inventory panel and place in your room.

* Tutorial mission 5 – Moving Items Reward: 100 xp
Click on the chair. Click Move Item. Move the chair by clicking the hand and dragging it, AND by using the white arrow buttons.

* Tutorial mission 6 – Using Items Reward: 100 xp
Click on chair, click Sit.

* Going Places 1 Reward: 100 xp
Go to the Cue Club

* Going Places 2 Reward: 100 xp
Find Blue Soda Poster, select, and click Enlarge Image to view close up. (This mission is meant to show you how to use the zoom in/out and rotate buttons)

* Going Places 3 Reward: 100 xp
Play a two-player game on pool in the Cue Club.

* Home Decoration 1 Reward: 100 xp
Click the wrench on the spanner at the top left of the screen. Change the name of your space. Save.

* Home Decoration 2 Reward: 100 xp
Click the wrench on the spanner at the top left of the screen. Select Décor. Change wallpaper and floors in all areas of your space. Save.
To change wallpaper and floor:

* Home Decoration 3 Reward: 100 xp
Click the camera on the spanner at the top left of the screen. Click Save Space Snapshot

SW is up with a few new missions. Golf seems to be gone.

Just for a tip on the graffiti mission (thanks to a friend)...if you have a drawing you like and don't want to have anyone erase it, all you have to do for this mission is to change all 3 security options to "anyone." Then quickly change it back. :)

They have replaced the golf mission with Banana, Banana, Banana :banana: - basically get 100,000 on the donkey kong type game.
They have also changed it to where you can now change your pet's name, so hopefully fewer pets will have to be deleted. :cat: :dogdance: I don't know if the Smoggo mission has changed, since all my current avatars are past that.

What is particularly great about this is that it shows that the SW staff REALLY listens to suggestions from players. I had spoken with a few staff and explained to them how players get a little attached to their pet (as funny as it may seem) and then are asked to delete their pet. We discussed how a simple shuffling or minor changing of the mission could avoid this. I know other players that made a point to mention this as well to staff. It's really nice to see they take ideas into consideration.

ETA: I have most of the reward values so I added a page to wiki (http://smallworldswiki.com/w/index.php?title=Rewards) and edited it to reflect the new changes from today. It has most of the token values. I am missing a few. (I need to find where I wrote them down. For some reason they are in a different place than the others. grrr.... haha!) Feel free to add if you have the missing token values.

I have yet to hit a limit on the number of songs I have on my seeqpod. I have at least 30 now and adding more.

Could it not have a limit? I have about 50 songs on mine right now.

Interesting about the room issue. Was it a secondary avi from your main account? Post that on their forums to let them know. They are very quick in correcting issues.

By that do you mean like one of the six (not sure about the number) characters you can have under one e-mail? If so, then yes. And I'm kind of shy about posting in new places, it kind of scares me, lol. Is it possible that it just let me in without asking for a password because it's not really a different person?

Sorry if this post doesn't make any sense, lol.

yeah, start in the middle vertical and horizontal, go after the fruit with priority.

When you are forced to the right of the screen, shoot especially while jumping since you are so vulnerable then

snake missions. shoot and make it chase you in a circle, once its all been hit and ready for you to jump on. go after the fruit for points until you feel all chased out. then jump on its head and take it out

I had thought about this, too, when I was stuck on the golf mission for almost two weeks. I didn't have any tokens to buy things, and I got to wondering if SW will continue to hold my interest after my rooms are finished and I have no more missions. It's not like we can actually be that creative in our rooms since there are only so many ways to arrange furniture and you can't stack them. Right now I'm enjoying going around and helping others with their missions ('m out again), but I'm not sure how long that will last.

and, its a shame they have all those cool games to play and we will only play them once to complete a mission because there is no incentive.
There is one incentive; playing the games and doing well on them increases your gamer status level.

Does anyone know how to find out someone's social status? I was able to finish the mission where you gift something to someone with a lower social status, but would like to be able to put how you figured out in the wiki. It sometimes shows a general status (minor SW celebrity, for example)when you click on them, but not always, and it's not specific enough; it doesn't show in your friends list; and it seems rude to ask people "Hey, what's your social status?" lol

Earning Tokens by Participating in Video Game Tournaments?

A little backstory... The first time I went to "Game Planet" and tried all the games there was one of them that charged me a fee to play it. I believe that it was one of the cabinets with Swarm on it. Then later (that same evening) I was talking to one of my friends from VMK and she had already made over a 1000 tokens in Small Worlds. She didn't seem to be sure where it all came from but she got a message about being awarded the tokens and it had something to do with Swarm. When I went back to Game Planet later, none of the games were charging a fee to play them.

Eventually I bought a game cabinet for my room. The cabinets are configurable for any of the video games and there is an interesting option to set up a "Tournament." So I set up my new cabinet for the game Swarm (because I happen to like it a lot) and I set up the tournament feature. The cost for entering the tournament was 1 token and it was scheduled to end on the 20th (today). Now check this out:

http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/2906/swarmjx4.jpg

This is the configuration screen from my arcade cabinet today. You will notice that in 10 hours awards will be given to the people in the first, second and third place positions. If everything holds the way it is, I will be 556 tokens wealthier sometime this evening. I'll post an update when it happens. I believe the reason I was charged a fee that day in Game Planet was that I had entered a tournament. I also, believe that my friend won that tournament. Since that tournament ended I haven't been asked to pay a fee to play the games in Game Planet again. Also, since my friend's award was 1000 tokens on a machine in the public room, I believe the award amount may be tied to the number of participants in the tournament.

I hope this is new information and I'm not just going over something that's already been covered. If I missed a previous post I'm sorry. I know there was some discussion that the video games should award tokens as a method of making money between missions. It looks to me like that feature is already in place. I kind of like the tournament style method that they used to implement the payouts. :thumbsup2

The public room tournaments I understand how it works, but I'm not sure about our own games. Won't the prize tokens come from your account, so you''l be paying the top three winners? What if the entry fees don't cover the payouts? If it's our tournament, do we get the entry fees? And is the tournament only for games played on our machine, or on other machines as well?
(I know you probably don't know the answers to most of these questions, just passing along things I've been wondering about. lol)

Earning Tokens by Participating in Video Game Tournaments?

The first time I went to "Game Planet" and tried all the games there was one of them that charged me a fee to play it.
Various machines charge to play at different times. They are the machines that are running public tournaments at that particular time. (I hunt for them and play the heck out of them! hehe) They are also the only machines that show a Leader Board.

The cost for entering the tournament was 1 token and it was scheduled to end on the 20th (today).

If everything holds the way it is, I will be 556 tokens wealthier sometime this evening. I'll post an update when it happens.
One of the ways that SW states we can currently earn tokens is by running our own tournaments. I THINK that you had to set the entry fee and the prizes for your tournament. No?? You should get the entry fees, but I am 99.9% certain you also have to give out the prizes. I have a post on tournaments on the forums and will post for further clarification on this.

I believe the reason I was charged a fee that day in Game Planet was that I had entered a tournament. ... Since that tournament ended I haven't been asked to pay a fee to play the games in Game Planet again.
This is absolutely why you had to pay. You pay 1 time per tournament and can play as many times as you want in effort to place. When you entered the tournament, it would have displayed the prize amount and hte ending date/time of the tournament. Every public tournament I have seen has only awarded 1st place, much to this chronic 2nd place finisher's sadness. grrrr

Also, since my friend's award was 1000 tokens on a machine in the public room, I believe the award amount may be tied to the number of participants in the tournament.
The amounts are set when the tournament starts.

Just curious, but not sure if I'm remembering correctly...weren't first place winners the only ones who received tokens in Game Planet when the tournaments were on?
Yes.

Hope this helps some,
Dreams

How about creating whatever it is that you want read on a web site and putting it in a Stack of Magazines? That would be similar to a read-only guest book.

No you cant outrun them, what you do is jump diagnal to get around him on the sides of the screen then jump diagnal toward the middle (over his head) to change directions, then shoot shoot shoot until he is all lit up blue.

When you say jump diagonal, can you say specifically what you mean?
Also, do you go around clockwise or counterclockwise? Could you perhaps show your route on a picture of the screen? TY so much!

You can outrun the snake if you are going left to right (as the "ground" is moving too) but not when you are going right to left.

Posted questions about running tournament on the Forums. Someone replied confirming very similar to what I said above.

You get the entry fees.
You provide the prizes.
He also said the following regarding prize distribution: "You set the prize and the entry fee, you also select whether you want winner takes all, where the 1st place winner gets all the prize tokens, OR, you select the other option and it will split the prize tokens among the top 3 scores, where 1st place gets most, 2nd is second most, and 3rd place is the least."

Back to the snake......grrrr.

I had the home page linked to my favorites, but that didn't work either. I shut down and restarted my computer, logged off, followed links, did a search. I don't know what else to try. Help me Obi-wan... you're my only hope!

I'm not a techie person, but the things I try when i think it might be on my end. Go to the internet browsers tool and clean out your history cache. Make sure nothing else is running. Type in the url directly (www.smallsworlds.com). I remember someone mentioning trying the direct link to your space, which I think might be for you www.smallworlds.com/home/maylady/
Also, it says on your avatar that you last logged in 2 hrs ago, which would put it right about noon pacific time. Maybe one of your attempts did get you in, but was taking a long time to load up on your screen. Give it time maybe.

Good luck!!

The way I beat the first two snakes is:
as soon as you can move, run to the far left of your screen and jump up to the top level, then run straight across to the right side. (You run faster when you're not shooting, so don't shoot yet.) Quickly turn around and hold the space bar to rapid shoot. Move to the right when possible. He comes very close to you, but turns full blue right before he reaches you.
(Wish someone had told me I needed to run into the snake after it turns blue to kill it - I can't tell you how long I ran from that stupid snake the first time I played!)
You can beat the third snake the same way, but it's more difficult because you have the purple ghosts coming in from the right.

The twitter object might be a way to share text without other people messing it up pete.

I have one in my room, but havent done much with it.

Bopper, I can try to describe it, and maybe I can make a picture later if your not following my obviously clear instructions :rotfl: (i know they are horrible, I just cant figure how to describe it)

I go clockwise first off, and by jumping diagnal i just mean dont try to go straight up as you wont be able to outrun it

Starting at the bottom i am shooting at its head, as I begin to run out of room on the left side I start jumping up, diagnally to the left until I get to the top at which point I jump diagnally right over his head, now i have much room again to run to the right as he is on the left side. I seperate and start shooting again. now since the screen is moving left to right this time and the fact its less time jumping down than jumping up, i just shoot down straight to the bottom and get under him and to his left. then I am shooting again, and keeping pace to where I started this paragraph from, repeat as necessary

Well, I'm not sure what happened with the Swarm tournament. It has ended and I got a note of congratulations for winning. 1000 tokens has been added to my account rather than the 553 that the tournament configuration said would be awarded. I'm going to guess that means I got all of the winnings and there was nothing for second and third place. I think that once the tournament ended all the information about it was cleared out of the machine. The last time I checked the rankings Mamacita was a close second. Perhaps she can let us now if there was anything given to her.

I believe that what Dreams was referring to about the entry fees and awards going to and from my account is true when you set up a tournament yourself. I think what I did was add one fo the "Global" tournaments because I don't remember putting in any of the settings required to create my own.

Turn by pressing the arrow key in the direction you want to go; you are at the right, but the room moves, so you'll have more room after a bit. For diagonal jumps press the up and left or right arrow key at once.

Yes, your tournament was a Global tourney. I joined there in the last 45 mins, and was in 3rd place when it ended. I was taking a break from the Ape game and came across your tournment so joined in. It gave me confidence enough to try Ape again. I finally beat that stupid snake, then was able to keep going and made it through the mission! Woot!

I did it! 129,000 on the Great Ape!
Ok..this might be obvious, but part of the key is to maintain your lives! at the end of every round, you get 2000 x the number of lives you have left! That helps you get more points faster.
Try to shoot all the little guys and diamonds and then smash them, and try to get all the fruit you can.
You can shoot those annoying birds, too!
When it gets to worm time, do what Aengus did....run over to the left on the bottom, and then get up to the top left and start running to the right, jump up (even though you are on the top level, it gets the worm up high enough to shoot easily) and then turn and shoot to the left. Once the worm is all blue, run into him. Get out of that round asap!

In the next round after the worm, it is basically the same thing as the second round except there are flying rocks that you cannot shoot. They are mostly toward the right side so you can avoid them. Then it is similar, two rounds and then a worm round.

ETA: Okay, in case anyone else encounters this, here's what I discovered. I noticed while I was playing, the zzzzz's showed up in the right-hand "chat" column of the game module. I believe that is showing that I have gone inactive (even though I was playing the game). I typed, "hmm" in the chat just to kick it out of zzzz mode. The zzzz's went away and I was not kicked from the game.

Oh, and did I mention?

Woot for you! I still need to give it another try...:goodvibes

Thanks! If I can do it, you can do it.

Here's my attempt to explain it:

When you get the the snake screen, hop your way down to the bottom left corner. As the snake moves, get yourself to the top left. I honestly did not shoot at him at all yet. Then, look out for the winding snake and work your way to the top right corner.

From here, stay on the top row, turn to the left and shoot, shoot, shoot. It iwll begin to put little rings around him. (I didn't understand that this was what I actually wanted.) As he moves down a little, jump down 1 row and keeping shooting at him. As he curves down, jump around him and shoot at him a few more times. Once he is all blue, jump ON him. (Again, I didn't know this was what I was trying to do.) Then jump on him 2 or 3 more times. He will fall apart and you win. :cool1:

One other important tip that has been mentioned above and is KEY imho: Get really good at the previous screens so you head into the snake screen with as many lives as possible. You will need them, and the bonuses are crucial to hitting the 100K goal.

Hope that helps..... somehow.

Did I mention, woo hoo!!! :cool1:? (sorry, have to work today and not having that dumb snake running around in my thoughts today will be sooo wonderful!)

I'm still very impressed with the SW staff. Flying backwards's avatar has several bugs, the worst being that he can't ever get into his own room. Yesterday, he and I were sitting in my room talking, and in pops Juliana Smallworlds. Seems she had logged on to chech the forums (she wasnt working, it was Sunday morning over there) and she saw Fly's post about his house problem. She then came and found him to explain that it would be Monday before they could do anything but that they would be working on it, and she stayed around and talked for quite a while. Not only is there no 'black hole' in SW, but they hunt you down on their day off to let you know that they care about your problem and are working on fixing it. Quite amazing!

I think since the winnings are coming out of your pocket, that you should get all the entry fees at least until you've managed to break even. Then maybe a percentage could go to the machine's owner.

(Thought I might enter this tourney today - after all, I did make 209,000 the last time I played. Then I took a look at the top scores, and Slinkyman has 300 gazillion points, so I'm going to crawl back under my rock now. lol)

Yes, that is the problem -or the good thing, depending on how you look at it- with the tournaments showing the top score before you enter. You can see that the top ppl are way (or in this case way way way) above what score you can usually make, and you know there is no reason to throw your credits away to join. Though I was pretty proud of myself for hitting 5th place, even if briefly (haven't looked lately), as I was not even sure I would be able to ever pass that mission just a few days before!

The scores really aren't that high. Once you get in a rhythm, it's probably not too difficult to score a million or more points on the game. The difficult part is having enough time to do it, since there's no pause button. It's a very time consuming game.

Not sure how current this information is, but I found this at the following site:

"SmallWorlds is expected to launch commercially in August, at which point they’ll offer upgraded “premium” accounts at $5.95/month; they plan to bring in additional revenue through advertising and virtual item sales."

I agree. I haven't played since I finished the last missions. It's fun when there are missions, but then what is there to do besides talk with friends? I'm not good enough to win the tournaments so there's no way to earn credits. I don't plan to pay that much each for a family of four if there aren't other things to do and earn credits.

That combined with these stinking arcade games and I think my SW days are almost over.I'm with you on the arcade games. I'm hoping they will provide addititional ways to earn credits.

But I wonder how necessary a premium account will be? The large rooms are almost a liability because it takes so much furniture to fill them up. I'm "practicing" with the small rooms to find just the right combination of features and items.

I don't take the quote as meaning we will have to pay for basic membership; does it seem that way to anyone else?I don't plan to pay that much each for a family of four if there aren't other things to do and earn credits.A family of four could all fit on one account, but it would probably be worth your while to have a separate free account for each person, in terms of earning power.

AmberDaze

I believe it's been said that there will be a free membership and a premium membership.

I'm guessing that we would need a separate account in order for all family members to play at the same time...

I'm guessing that we would need a separate account in order for all family members to play at the same time...This would work if each family member played at their own computer, but you cannot have two SW accounts open on the same computer. (From SW popup messages, I'm guessing that IP addresses may be an issue here. We have a router which assigns separate IPs to our household computers, so I've had no problem with two at once, but can someone with multiple computers on the same IP verify if it works for them?)

What I meant was...one account = 5 characters, right? I have not tried it, but I'm assuming that you cannot sign into your one account and be on 2 different characters on two different computers? Besides, since they share stuff and cannot accumulate tokens separately, it wouldn't pay to do this anyway...

I have not been able to sign onto 2 diff accounts on one computer, but we have logged into multiple computers with the same IP with no problems.

I accidentally created my Mnementh character on my fiance's account, so every now and then, the time comes when we both want to play at the same time on the same account, and we've been able to log onto both characters at the same time on separate computers several times. This comes in handy for missions where you only need two people, such as checkers or pool, so it's not entirely a waste of time (if you're just playing for xp rather than tokens).

No, not just you! I want things to keep me busy and SW isn't doing that anymore. I've not done my gaming mission, because I don't care for the arcade games. I would have preferred they kept the minigolf in and fixed the bug! I check in once in a while to see if there are any new missions added, and haven't seen any yet...too bad, I really was liking this in the beginning. I don't think anything new has been added to the shops, either.
I've been spending more time on Wizards and some time on Dizzywood. Not much time at all on any of the others.

I know what you mean, but I witnessed a guy saying degrading things about girls.. I think that's reportable

I'm enjoying the open chat as much as anybody, I enjoy talking freely with my friends but that doesn't have to mean going over the top like so many are. I have probably been overreporting, but I'm not gonna stop. My feeling has always been do what you want in private, but in public people should have enough respect for themselves and others to have some manners in their talk and behavior. Even though this game is wide open with few restrictions, I still believe that.
Some of the worst, I've been...
1. cussed out with the very worst words (spelled creatively to get around the filter) by a little girl I had just met cause I didn't want to join her girls' club
2. assaulted virtually in a very inappropriate manner in a hot tub
3. seen obvious children trying to look big by saying the grossest things they can think of
4. seen a friend harrassed endlessly by somebody looking for a virtual hook up

Thankfully, most of the people I've seen know how to behave themselves and these incidents don't come terribly often but I do stay mostly in friends' rooms or in my room now because of these things. I'm also reporting when I suspect somebody has lied about their age to play, I asked a staff member about it and he said yes, to please let them know. It's just not safe for kids, a predator would have a very easy time getting info from a naiive person in this game.

In spite of these issues though, I'm loving this game. I love the ability to be creative we have to customize our houses and I'm really enjoying having a place to hang out with my old vmk friends and making some new friends too. I just really really need some hippy clothes!

Oh goodness, Goofy.. heh. Try not to stereotype us teens. :hug:
Although I offically will not be a teenager by the time this year is over, I maintained more conservative morals throughout my teen years and I know I can speak for many others who did as well, on the DIS and off. :goodvibes

For the record, I have experienced plenty of people in EVERY age group who will be innapropriate, curse and talk smack just because they can. :sad2:

As far as the game itself... I would totally be more into it if I had things to do in-game by myself. I'm basically out of missions, so really the only fun I am having is weekend-party time when a lot of friends are logged in. I have no incentive to play arcade games. I can just watch videos directly on youtube. I can open up Ruckus and listen to anything I want for free. The game just doesn't hold my interest when I am wandering around on my own.

And for goodness sakes, give a girl some more clothes!! :rotfl2:

Whoah, I've been gone for quite some time, I CAN'T read all this! LOL I stopped after the first couple of pages xD.

Anyway, I'm so excited most DIS'ers are playing this game! I hope I thoroughly enjoy it to the fullest just so i can spend time with ya! Heck! I'll do it even if I DON'T like the game! LOL (But I hope I love it!)

We should have a stickied thread or something, with everyone's names from here/vmk/smallworlds so it'll be easier to meet people from here. Anyone want to take on the challenge?

From only reading the first couple of pages, the important info I found out was that all beta testers lose everything after beta. Is there anything else that's important that I should know? :confused3

Oh, and I find the avatars a little funny looking, LOL. from the front we looked a little hunch-backed.

Hope to see your beautiful avatars soon!

You can go back and change everything about your avatar except the name. There is nothing else to wear; what you see when making your avatar is what you wear until you go back and change it.

Usually weekends I have lots of trouble with smallworlds loading the site, or entering rooms, trying to open friends/missions/places list. It either takes forever to connect to open those(providing it does by chance open), or gives me that box "Go Back" stating it couldn't load/connect to whatever or where I was trying to go. Clicking on that box, simply puts me in it's death hole, so that I just shut it down and try again then. It becomes so totally frustrating when this happens, sooo glad this doesn't happen to me in VFK or any other site.

I know some of you have had items disappear from your rooms. Victoria Smallworlds just posted this on their forums:
Several people have reported that items (chairs, tables etc.) have disappeared from their spaces. If you have lost items from your space, please take the following steps to get them back:

1) Put an item (any item) in your space.
2) Leave your space, and ensure that there is no one else in the space.
Within a short time, the lost items should appear in your inventory (not in your room). Note that they might not appear immediately.

Thank you for your patience.

FYI - they're asking for input on clothes, items, accessories...what would you like to see in the game. Victoria Smallworlds just posted a few minutes ago in the Forums/Features section.

Do you get them free like when you sign up for VMK? or do you have to buy everything you wear besides what you sign up with?
From only reading the first couple of pages, the important info I found out was that all beta testers lose everything after beta. Is there anything else that's important that I should know? :confused3

http://blog.smallworlds.com/faq/ first FAQ says Premium accounts will be charged a fee. From what I'm reading, the pets are in the premium accounts, not the free ones? Does anyone know if the missions and/or arcade/pool/golf games will be a fee or free? I'd like to know if there's a breakdown on what is free and what isn't.

And just an FYI, friend was on Smallworlds, logged off, then she had viruses on her computer. She deleted it, logged back in Smallworld, and it was back. She has checked a couple other games she goes to and everything is ok from those. She is wondering if it was the pictures you can load onto those picture frames since that was what she had done there last, (not the ones you draw on, the other ones.) I couldn't confirm or deny this since I've not loaded any of those-just haven't gotten that far.

She is deleting, scanning to take care of problem. Said she's not logging into Smallworld today trying to narrow it down some more just in case. She asked if I could check if anyone who plays has had this problem--please pm me if yes.

no they are from flickr, its not possible.

flickr.com is a picture site, see they have this cool web2.0 thing they are integrating into their game. They are providing a portal to external social websites. flickr.com for the pictures in that particular case. they have links to twitter and bookmarks and seeqpod. anyways, thats not how the virus got there. www.flickr.com is probably the most popular picture sharing site on the net.

And I doubt that smallworlds is doing this on purpose either, it wouldn't make any sense if they did. Maybe something else is hiding on your friends computer that is bringing in viruses, virus scans are not always 100% full proof and they can miss something, also some virus protection programs can pick up some things other protection programs cant.

I had a virus once in my computer. I used several virus programs to get rid of it and that little bugger just wouldn't go away. I finally ran the virus program in safe mode and that took care of it.
