I threw my lot in with the Smallworlds crew yesterday as well. Have to admit I'm hooked, LOL. Ran into a number of dis'ers at the Spa as well (they needed a 4th for the hot tub??)...of course when I walked in it was to the tunes of "...oh so pretty..." and I just knew, I was in the right place...LOL!

Look for me as "RightSaid Ned". The game wants a last name for your avatar I'm not sure how to break down "NedsTJ" yet, LOL!

But very cool world...look forward to exploring it more. Anyone know when the official Launch date is? The FAQ says June 2008, but nothing more detailed...(at least this way we know we're going to lose our stuff!)

We absolutely love this game! I know it is not recommended for children but my 12 year old after playing with me for awhile said "This is the game I have been waiting for". She actually got over VMK closing pretty quickly. She was over the taken, scamming, cute or boot. Plus, she never had any credits. In this game, she loves her cat, the stereo that she can personalize, watch You Tube videos, get her own pictures and decorate her room.

I need her to play because she can figure out all the technical aspects faster than I can. :rotfl: I'll be watching though in her interactions with others because more than likely everyone else will be an adult. She wants to play more than socialize but there are some missions that require help by others. Everyone seems very nice. I might even learn Portuguese!

I like the chat filter, but I would like restrictions on the public rooms' music selections. Some of the tunes playing at the Cue Club yesterday made ME blush! So, while the filter works for chat, it does NOT work to block violent/profane lyrics from the stereos. Maybe, now that the developers know where we came from, we could start a little email campaign to restrict the public stereos from playing songs rated above a PG-13 level? I guess I should play with the sounds off when I'm doing missions...that's the biggest issue I have with SW, atm. The chat bubbles can easily be ignored, the song lyrics cannot.

This game does not encompass all of what VMK has, but the features it shares with VMK directly, it is far superior.

I can't believe I am already hooked into another game. I kept looking and playing everything and now I am completely immersed ROFL.

ETA: Mims, they would have to stop using seeqpod in order to have a chance at what your saying. They can pull anything in that exists on seeqpod which is a search engine. Just like it wouldnt be able to resitrict the youtube videos or the flickr pictures. I think a good compromise would be letting us get into blank instances like VMK did for people who want to stay away from the public room music choices.

I heard some absolutely horrilbe songs yesterday, but I don't want them to change a thing with the music choices. When someone put on a song I did not appreciate, I just left the public area. This place is adult oriented. I see it as a place where our VMK characters grew up :rotfl: . The search engine is fabulous and I would hate to see it taken away because of complaints.

You can change the way your character looks by clicking the wrench on your character's little floating card thing on the home screen.

You can gift things to other accounts. It's an option when you click an item that is in your inventory. All you need is the other account's name. You don't have to get them both into the game at the same time.

One thing I would like to mention to them is about the friend's list. I don't like that others can add me as a friend and follow me around and they are not on my list. While I don't worry about any DISers stalking, who knows about the possibility of other strange people playing the game? This would be a somewhat safety issue for me.
I do like how we can search for a name and add it to our list without them being online. But, it should be a friends request instead of just a simple add.
That's my opinion anyway.

At first, I assumed I would be looking for a trade feature like we had in VMK. So I made a second character but I couldn't get him online at the same time as my main character. As soon as I logged a character in one browser the other character was kicked out. I assumed this was because they were both on the same account. So I set up a new account with a new email address and everything. I had the same problem even running one account in Explorer and the other in Firefox.

I'd be interested to know how households with two players are doing this. They can't be blocking the second logon by the IP, session or cookie. So what's the trick?

Anyway, I played the character on the second account and had no trouble doing the missions and earning tokens. I just spent tokens on the stuff I wanted and gifted those items to my main account. I never played the second character that I made on my first account so I don't know if he would have gotten tokens for doing the missions or not.

I really don't think you need an invite. I didn't have one when I signed up yesterday.

Click the yellow "Go there now" button on the homepage. Make your character. It seemed to strange to me to make the character before I gave them my email address and set up the account but that's how it worked. After you make the character go back the homepage. I don't remember exactly how it happened but the homepage was different and it should be more apparent how to enter the game at that point. Then, you will be asked to agree to the TOS and give up some personal info to finish creating the account. :thumbsup2

No, I did that too. Click "save" and the little grapic will spin and the save button comes back (or something like that, I'm working from memory here). It did it's job, don't click save again. Once the little saving graphic stops spinning go to the homepage.

When I made that mistake yesterday I ended up logging in as "Krazy Pete the 2nd" because I had made two characters. :rotfl:

If you do find that you are being "stalked" by someone you can click on them and add them to your "block list." This will make it so that you can't see what they are saying and it should prevent them from seeing your location in the game.

You can even do this to your friends from the friends panel, if you want to hide out temporarily. If you get caught, you may have some explaining to do. But since they are blocked and can't talk to you anyway, you can put that off while you think of a good excuse. :thumbsup2

Okay, with all the talk on here of Dis people liking Small Worlds, I thought I would give it another try. I'm doing much better. When I signed up I was kinda tired of so many Goldengourds out there, that I chose to make her my other title. So I am Candy Bit there. And yes I do need help getting the 3 ppl in my room, and finishing a game of pool. (ppl keep quitting, then we finally got close to a win and the game locked up on me, and no I can't even get the eight ball in the pocket to lose nicely LOL) So Look me up.

Thanks to everyone for making the Dance Party circuit a success! This was the most fun I've had since our previous stomping grounds closed down.

Though it was light year's easier than Blackheart's Quest, we approached it in the same way: Help one another get through this task and leave no one behind.

I think I know the why, but I'm not sure I want to fix it. I'd hate to lose my account that IS up to the dance party. Well it's a new day so lets see what we can do to get the rest of us through! I've got to say that last night I had so much fun going from room to room to room getting everyone through. And while nothing is going to replace our beloved Magic Kingdom last night I was smiling and laughing like days gone by-that plus we had no problems getting everyone through! I think it has to do with the network connection speed, as the game runs in your browser.

You can use the SeeqPod without signing up. It is a search engine. Just search your favorite songs and add them to the playlist. In order to save the list, go into configurations. It's really easy.:thumbsup2 You can also program the stereo so that only you can change and control it.

yes you can put your list on your tv, I have not experimented with any of the security options on it, but I bet you can lock it to only your list in your room

My stereo only plays Last.fm. How do you get it to go to Seeqpod?

A note on the music situation; the "antique radio" found in the Dungeon shop is truly only a radio (using Last.fm). You can't make a playlist for it, so keep this in mind when selecting yours. You can choose the type of music you're playing.

I guess most of you have met Juliana. Last nite she came in our vmk dance room and stayed for maybe 45 min dancing and answering questions. When we left the club and went to sweets house she came there and stayed for another probably another 45 min. Shes very interested in what we liked about vmk, and how vmk compairs to SW, which is good because they realize alot of their members are vmk'rs. Juliana mentioned that they hope to release the game sometime in August. It will never be pay to play however there will be some added benefits that will cost. The site will be open 24/7. Down the road you will be able to add more rooms to your home, which is great. Idk if everyone knew how to spot a staff, Juliana has a blue aura, but other developers/developers in the game at different levels will have other such auras. She showed us another one that looked like body inferno almost lol. Anyway, she watched the vmk video and was very impressed with the game, how much it looked like the park.

So if you see her in the game give her your feedback or ideas because they are still tweaking the game.

I'm hoping they eventually can add severe filters to allow younger players but I'm not getting my hopes up yet. She did mention they are concerned about some of the music thats played in public areas. She also mentioned releasing a pg13 version of the game down the road. Very good idea.

You have to create a playlist on Last.fm.
And you can only use songs that you can actually hear on the website.
When you hover your mouse over the song, there will be a cassette show up at the end of the title. Click on that to add to your playlist.
You have to have quite a few titles from all different artists to make up the playlist. But you can have an unlimited number of tracks on it.

Problem for me is that much of what I want is not available there or only has 30 second previews.

I never go on the Seeqpod site. Click on your radio then click "Configure." Set up your default playlist right inside up SW.

1. Click on configure item
2. Click search
3. type in what you are looking for,. I wanted Disney music so I typed in things like Disney, Epcot, Haunted Mansion so on.
4. See something you want mouse over it and click the + sign. It has now been added to your play list. Do this for all songs you want to add.
5. click play list tab to see what you have.
6. Click options. This will let you select to have music start automatically and if you want the songs shuffled.
7. Click save to keep all your changes.
8. Click security
9. Click owner for people who can move this item and owner for people who can use this item. No no one can add or remove songs.

I let my daughter help me dress our pet each day (we pick a new color for her bow). I also let her do the painting in my room. It is small ways she can play with me. There is no way I would let her walk around the public areas though. So there are ways to include your kids, they just cant play as much as they did in VMK.

LOL - I had this same problem...I had to remove the Seeqpod back to inventory, then place it again before the remote came back. I think if someone other than the ower picks it up, it doesn't replace it when that person leaves the room. I since changed mine to "Owner" to prevent that from happening.

On a note about the public music players...I wish they would behave like a normal jukebox...the whole song should play before it lets a new song play....very annoying last night in the Cue Club with the song changing every 10 seconds...

If you do find that you are being "stalked" by someone you can click on them and add them to your "block list." This will make it so that you can't see what they are saying and it should prevent them from seeing your location in the game.

You can even do this to your friends from the friends panel, if you want to hide out temporarily. If you get caught, you may have some explaining to do. But since they are blocked and can't talk to you anyway, you can put that off while you think of a good excuse. :thumbsup2

For all of the times I was 'stalked' by the younger ppl on my VMK list, I think could think up some dozens or reasons to be hidden!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK that sounds a little cooler :) I find the game producers to be every bit as creative as the orginal vmk producers. Just very clever ideas.

In my defense, If you open your "people" list click on someone and then put your mouse over the "block this avatar" link you will see a popup that says, "Block this Avatar from seeing your Online Status." I didn't get to actually test it until today.

It's probably a feature they are working on. Let's bug them now and maybe the final implementation will be more like VMKs. :thumbsup2

As big of a supporter of VFK as I am/was, this game totally blows VFK out of the water, and in some aspects even blows VMK out of the water (but not entirely), even as a beta. I think this could turn out to be very good.

I know we have been speculating about why SW is so popular in Brazil. Juliana said that there was a popular gaming site or mag that did a big review of SW, so they had a huge influx of Brazilians.:)

3 things I'm loving:
1) We can turn on/off our cnadles, fireplaces, tiki torches, campfires etc...I loved that about VMK.
2) We can place rug under furnuture without having to move the furniture.
3) Although I wish our friends/e-mail addys list were alphabetical, I do like that you can find a name for e-mail by brining up the list then hitting the the first letter of the name until it hits on the right person.

One thing I'm wondering if we'll see in any game: The ability to use partial pieces or crates etc... to stack objects and create completely unique rooms.

Absolutley. This game is not a place for unsupervised children, then again no place really is right.

ETA: oh and some advice when communicating on their board. VMK is like an ex girlfriend ROFL. The new girlfriend doesnt want to be reminded constantly how the old girlfriend did things. Just advice obviously and my opinion, but I feel you would get better responses when you dont start out the topic with " VMK used to do it like..."

I havent heard to much bad language but Im sure we will. Its for sure not for under 13 but you can go in to account and have their chat filtered so at least they cant hear bad language. I guess thats why their going to make a mirror game but for the under 13 age.

click a person and click challenge, I read on their boards you can wager on it... not sure how tho.

well....I meant, if the parent wanted the child to have limits in the game, they could, while the people who don't want to play with limits can play without limits. Even Club Penguin has a chat limit where the parent can set it to only picked phrases, we can still have our fun :rolleyes1 , but the children can have theirs and be safe too ;)

Geez ace dont say that above a whisper, I love the game as is. Theres always toontown , the fairy stuff and that penquin game for the little dudes.

Well this is what i meant, they really should make it so that adults can play how they want, and children can play it safe (that is if the parents want them too)
