View Full Version : Indianapolis DIS Meet - Come One Come All!
Welcome to the Indianapolis Labor Day Weekend DIS & DIS Unplugged Meet Thread
Hi Everyone,
My name is Aaron from Fishers, IN. I'm a huge Disney Parks fan who loves everything about Disney World.
Over the last 2 years I've been part of a couple very fun DIS meets. This year I'd like to organize another meet over Labor Day weekend (see specific information below).
The intent of the meet is to get to know other Disney enthusiasts like us and have some fun and laughs along the way. Also, to discuss and share information about our favorite podcast; the DIS Unplugged. I'm looking forward to seeing several of you there.
This meet is open to anyone willing to drive or even fly to the Indianapolis area. We'd love to see you join us. I'm hopeful to have several Hoosiers and other friends from other states join us in the Indy area. In fact, depending on the number of attendees I may obtain a room in a restaurant or hotel conference center, plan an afternoon worth of fun Disney activities for kids and adults alike, prize drawings, contests and even some secret fun! :goodvibes I'll have more specifics the closer we get to Labor Day weekend.
Between now and Labor Day weekend I'll be updating this thread with meet information and attendees who will be joining us at the meet. Please post if you can attend the meet, how many guests will be joining your party including children and their ages. Even if you can't attend please post just to say hi! :wave2:
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions feel free to post them here or send me a private message (PM).
Hope to see you at the meet!

Hey - checking in from just up the road in Kokomo! As far as I know, my husband and I should be available to meet up for some Disney fun!
For a location ... how about The Earl of Sandwich in Carmel? Http://www.earlofsandwichusa.com/contact/locator.php
We stop by there when we're in the area & need a taste of WDW.

They have an Earl of Sandwich in Carmel!?!?!? Wow I am so there next time we go to Indy....:cloud9: Yep! It's at the corner of Carmel Drive and Rangeline Road! There's a Noodle Company on one side of them and a Dunkin' Donuts on the other! :)
The Earl of Sandwich, depending on how many of us show up, may be kind of small though. Wonder if we could maybe get some platters of sandwiches or something from them for a meet in a park or something...
Just a thought!

Earl of Sandwich would be nice; however, I'm hoping and thinking for something a little bigger depending on the number of attendees.
Please spread the word about the meet. The meet is also turning into a DIS Unplugged podcast meet.

Count us in and keep us posted!
Dodie and my DH, Phillip. 2 adults - no kids.
It will be great to meet some of you who will also be going on the Podcast Cruise the following May, so we won't be strangers!
:cool1:
I had no idea there is an Earl of Sandwich in Carmel either. (We live in downtown Indy.) That's GREAT to know, even if the group doesn't meet there.

Aaron, I'm so glad you are planning this! I had such a very little time with you all at our last attempt!!
And more good news.. we usually travel to WDW during Labor Day weekend, but this year we are pushing it to spring break (so we can stay longer!!)
So I definitely plan on being there!!
Count on me, DH, DS (8), and DD(2) If I see that a lot of people are not bringing kids and it's going to be more of an 'adult' thing, I'd be happy to find a sitter and be grown ups for a night!
Thanks again!!!

Hi Aaron and everyone else. I have been so bummed over having had to miss the last 2 DIS meets here is Indy. I will do everything in my power to not let that happen again. Please put DW and myself down for the meet. Can't bring the the boys due to a surprise trip DW and myself are planning over Thanksgiving that directly concerns them, and I don't want to take any chance on the surprise slipping out. They would probably be bored anyway, you know how teenagers are.;)

Hello,
I'm a newbie member to the DIS board, but long time lurker! I just happened to see your meet in Indy and would love some more info as I have never attended anything of this sort. What do you do? Where? Activities? Since we live in Bloomington, it's something that sure sounds of interest.

Welcome to the DIS! :)
Whoever wishes to attend the meet can attend. We don't have an exact location of the meet yet because I want to get more of an idea of how many people will be attending. The location will be announced probably at the end of July or early August. It will be in the Indy area.
As for the meet itself, they typically are a combination of Disney discussion with other Disney fans, good food, and meeting new friends who share the love of Walt Disney World. As for this particular meet I'm going to try and have kids activities as well as trivia and drawings for some prizes. I'm going to speak with some individuals and companies to see if they will donate prizes to make it even better, but that is still up in the air at this point.
I hope you can make the meet. I know from experience the more DISers who attend the more fun the meet.
Let me know if you have any more questions about the meet. :)

So glad you came out of lurkdom! To me, the best thing about DisMeets is being able to put a face and personality with the screen name. Plus talking to people who love Disney as much as you... they 'understand' the addiction! It's fun! Hope you make it.

I have been able to get 3 or 4 Indy Labor Day weekend DIS organized in the past. I usually stop down for a few days to the Nationals over in Clermont.
You might get a lot of additional exposure if you also post this on the Community board and keep it bumped every so often. That board gets a lot of traffic.
I am planning on coming in on Sunday, but may try to make it a day earlier. :cool1:

Glad to hear from you. I was at the Labor Day meet you planned a few years ago at Loon Lake Lodge. It was a lot of fun. We really hope you can make it. When you know for sure let us know.
I will take your advice and post this over on the community board. Thanks!

Sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure yet what my plans will be for that weekend. I have a couple of family reunions(1 for each side of family) this summer and am not sure exactly when they are.
I also am not sure if I could attend as I have no vehicle. Unless I could bum a ride from someone here. But then, maybe I could convince my best friend and her husband to come with their kids. They are not DIS members, but he is a Disney fan.
I'll have to run this by her and see what she thinks. :)

Hey Aaron!
I can't believe I didn't see this until tonight! As long as a family thing doesn't come up, I think you can count us in! It was fun meeting you guys at Buca last spring.
It will be me (Jodi), DH (Eric), DD7 (Lauren) and DD4 (Megan).
Thanks!
Just realized that since the NHL playoffs are over now and football season is about to start, maybe it's time to get my Colts logo back on my avatar... what do you think???

Have we "officially" invited any members of the Podcast Team or Dreams Unlimited to visit with us during our meet? I know that was tossed around last week in podcast chat. Winotracy went to the Chicago meet and they all got some cool podcast "loot!" (Not that we wouldn't just want to just spend time with them - it's not all about the loot.:lmao:) Probably none of them would necessarily want to come to Indy over the holiday weekend - but we could ask.
By the way, I told my husband (non-DIS member, low tech guy, VERY MUCH A DISNEY FAN) that we were doing this and he was very perplexed. "We're going somewhere to meet a bunch of people that we don't know because you all post on that Disney site? Are you kidding me? Doesn't that seem kind of weird?" Be gentle with him, people! We'll bring him along. I just got him used to the fact that we are going on a specific Disney Cruise (May 2009) because lots of people that we don't know are going on it too.

Dodie...my family is the same way! They don't quite get it...:rotfl: DH, thankfully, does though. In his past life (before we got married) he was a member of many online communities. So he understands the whole thing. Kind of...lol...he tolerates it anyway :lmao:
Not sure if Will could make it or not...isn't he the one who's originally from this area? Maybe he'll come home for the holiday!

Funny you should ask. A personal invitation was recently sent to them. I think we all realize that Orlando and Indianapolis are approximately 1000 miles apart, but if any of them decided to join us we'd welcome them with open arms. :)

There are many people out there who don't have the Disney gene like us. You either have it or you don't, plain and simple. Fortunately for us, WE GOT IT!

Not only are Dodie's and my birthday on August 31st, but my DH, Matthew (Rhett972 - doesn't post much though) is exactly one week later! His birthday is September 7th. :) I love the end of August/early September because of our birthdays as well as our anniversary (September 10th) is all one right after the other...
I've already offered my services for cake/cupcakes...depends on my mood...just holler if there's anything to help with...
What an event this is becoming! Wooo!!!

ADP,
So how does this work?
Is it potluck (everybody brings something to eat) or catered?
If catered, what is the price per person?
Just curious. I am a planner and I just was thinking about this.
I can't wait to meet everybody, and maybe we can get Will up here cause it's Labor Day weekend. :cool1:

Hi Chris,
My thoughts right now are having a pitch-in to help keep the cost of the event in check. (I'm trying to make the meet cost free, if possible). So everyone attending can bring a covered dish(s). Another reason I like the pitch-in idea is because we can possibly make some Disney dishes. Pull out our Disney recipes and get creative. It will also provide a variety of food for everyone.
I'll provide paper products, cups, utensils, etc and beverages. Because of the number of children and driving distances for some people having alcohol may not be a good idea.
As for the location I'm currently looking for either an indoor public space, or clubhouse type setting which will accommodate all of us. I've got a few places in mind. If anyone has any suggestions for a space like this please send me a PM. I must admit since I'm from Fishers and I'm familiar with the area the meet will probably be on the northside of town. I hope the folks on the southside understand. The last thing I want to do is make it tough for anyone to be able to get to the meet.
I hope everyone likes these ideas. :)

My DS7 is going to be 8 on August 16th, not too soon after the DIS meet!! Looks like there will be kids there that are similar in age to mine, so should be fun. Keep us updated on all the details! Thanks so much for putting this together! A great way to end the summer for us! School gets back in sesson on August 13th.

Not sure if I can make it since it's the first weekend after school starts, but definitely keep me in the look on the time & location!

I think we can come! It may just be me and the kids if DH's schedule doesn't allow. I normally post on the Families board. There was just a thread about things to do in Indiana so I could hijack it and let people know about the meet. I know I tend to stick to Restaurants and Families. I saw your link when you posted about No Way Jose - my favorite also!
Anyway, it is me - Julie
DH - Gordon
DS 9 - Kyle
DD 7 (by one day, another August birthday!) - Katie
DS 3 - Joey
ADP - I am sure we are close to you. I live 1 minute from Fishers.
So glad you can make. Look forward to meeting you and the children. :)

I love the pitch-in idea! We could start a list and keep track of who is bringing what, so we don't end up with 25 desserts and 1 casserole!!:rotfl:
Could we also volunteer to run activities with the kids? If a bunch of us came up with a game/craft/activity, then we can take turns leading the kids. I'd happily volunteer to do one!
There are TONS of ideas on FamilyFun.com (Disney's family-friendly magazine)

This is all great stuff Sooze...Thanks! If you wish to volunteer with the kids that would be wonderful. The meet will probably last 4 or 5 hours so keeping the kids entertained will be a big part of the meet. Maybe you could volunteer for an activity. Some of the suggestions I've received for kids activities are face painting, drawing sessions, and hula hooping.
As for the food I can keep a running tab on who is bringing what on the 1st post next to everyone's name. I plan on supplying paper products and beverages for the meet so that is covered.

Hey! Does anyone that's planning on attending have a karaoke machine!? I have some Disney karaoke CD's (that I just sing to in my car:rolleyes1 )... the kids might enjoy that activity for a while!
If you want, Aaron, I could be the kids' activity coordinator! (That sounds official;) )
Once we solidify a time, I could sketch out a schedule and start filling in activities and who is running them (based on people's willingness to volunteer).
Let me know!

Do people think the kids would like a Disney trivia challenge? My older one would love it, but last night he was reading the Unofficial Guide for fun!
I saw a fun looking game in Family Fun this month. The kids try to put on frozen t-shirts. I could either look for cheap Disney shirts or buy plain white package shirts. If people think this sounds good, I can be in charge of it.
My DD is saying hot potato with Disney music for little ones.

I don't know what kinds of places are in fishers, but there is holiday park on the northside of indy, and there is a huge park in plainfield, there is also eagle creek, but you have to pay to get in. The park in plainfield may have to be signed up for, I don't remember.
If I think of any more, I'll add them.
Have fun everyone :)

I'm sure we could pitch in as well for something or other.

I so miss Indiana. I couldn't get out of there fast enough at 21 but after 12 yrs as a military wife on the move every 3 yrs I can't wait until retirement because we're coming back!!! And only 3 more years until we do!!! Granted we've also lived in the South all but 2 of those years so I'm hating the summer heat (it's miserable). I'll take the snow over the heat that starts in May and lasts until October any day.
I definitely want to keep in touch with Indy DISers so that maybe one day I'll get to meet some of you.

We were stationed in the Baltimore-DC area for 2 years and I loved it!!! If I wasn't so attached to my family then we'd be retiring there in a heartbeat. Alas, family is more important (DH's parents didn't see it that way as they stayed in TX after retirement and have no intention of moving back to IN. Hi Everyone,
We've been fortunate enough to secure our location. The meet will be held at the Hamilton County 4-H fairgrounds. The building in which the meet will be held is called the Annex building. I've updated the initial post with additional information, so please check it out. :)
I understand this location isn't the most convenient for everyone, but I hope you will still be able to make it. The opportunity to meet fellow DISers, DIS Unplugged fans, theme park junkies, and Disney World fanatics like us will be a real treat! :goodvibes
The building does have a kitchen in case you need to warm up your pitch-in items when you arrive at the meet. Bathroom facilities are also located in the building. There is plenty of green space outside as well in case the kids wish to run and play. The space inside the building is probably larger than we need; however, with kids activities and adult activities it will be nice to be able to spread out. Tables and chairs are also included to setup our pitch-in items and sit and enjoy each others company.
Also, I've updated the initial post with a list of kids activities. Anyone who wishes to voluntear to run or assist with any of the activities please submit a post and let us know.
Don't forget to let us know what you intend to bring for a pitch-in item to the meet. I've been updating the initial post with pitch-in items so we don't duplicate any of the food items. Please check back often as more information will be posted as we get closer to the meet.
Looking forward to seeing you there! :)

Don't forget to let us know what you intend to bring for a pitch-in item to the meet. I've been updating the initial post with pitch-in items so we don't duplicate any of the food items. Please check back often as more information will be posted as we get closer to the meet.
Looking forward to seeing you there! :)
Awesome!!! It is more than convenient for me! I only live about 15 minutes away, so we are looking forward to it! I am still trying to decide what to bring, but I will let you know so you can post!

My birthday is also August 31st, but I have always hated that.... especially when I was a kid, as it always fell when school started so I usually go school clothes!
But last year and this it has been a good thing, as it is my excuse to go to Disney World at that time!!!

Unfortunately, life has happened and we need to "un-register" for this meet. As awesome as it sounds it will be, we just can't make it on the 30th. So, if you'll remove our names from the list, that would be great. :sad1:
I'll subscribe to this thread and when the meet is over, I'll come back and looka at all the pictures everyone will certainly post. Thanks for all your planning efforts. I'm sorry that I won't be able to attend.

I've been trying to think of what we could bring since we'll have a two and a half hour drive down. (I guess that doesn't matter too much, I DO have a cooler to put things in to keep them cold) I could make some brownies and/or a macaroni/tuna salad. I see that JCandKT are bringing side dishes, but I wasn't sure exactly what side dishes they plan on bringing.
Also, is this a BYOB? (That stands for Bring Your Own Beverages....I know what you were all thinking!) :rolleyes1
AND I noticed that only one person is bringing a main dish type dish. (Meatloaf) Is everyone bringing their own main thing to eat, too? I can't imagine asking one person to bring burgers/hot dogs/brauts/chicken/or whatever for everyone...or was the idea that several different people would pitch in for that type of stuff...AND is there a grill there to cook that type of stuff on? I wouldn't mind bringing a couple packages of hot dogs...and maybe some burgers.

We only live a few miles from the fairgrounds, so we can bring whatever. Also, for those of you who don't live close, there's a Super Walmart and a Meijer grocery store right next to the fairgrounds, so if you want to wait until you get here to buy something, you definitely can!
I will be at the fairgrounds tomorrow for the Hamilton County 4H fair and I will look to see if there is a grill around.

Hi Debbie,
There is a kitchen in the space we will be using. You could easily prepare hot dogs and hamburgers there; however, I probably wouldn't try and get too adventurous with exotic dishes. Make sure to bring any pans or utensils you need to cook with.
Also, I'm providing the beverages for the meet; however, feel free to bring anything you wish. Unfortunately, the fairgrounds will not allow us to bring alcohol onsite.

I think people might like Kona Wings...especially since it's a recipe from the Poly...it will add that much more "DISNEY MAGIC" to the DISmeet!!! I didn't mean for anyone to change what they were bringing when I posted, I just noticed that nobody had mentioned the "traditional" cook out items. That's not to suggest that "non-traditional" items won't be devoured....er....I mean enjoyed. LOL!!!

Please...me try and get too adventurous with exotic dishes? I think a tuna salad is the most adventurous I've ever gotten! I work full time and DH works a full time job AND a part time job and we have two kids...I don't have time to get adventurous with anything! :lmao: I have this friend who makes the wildest things for her parties and I'm always so jealous...she puts Martha Stewart to shame!! Coming out of Lurkdom to say HI to all the Hoosiers! We live in Fishers and the fairgrounds are not far at all from our house. I am seriously considering coming. I just have to convince DH and see what our Labor Day weekend plans include.
Usually we go back to our hometown area (30mins NW of Lafayette) for the Fall Festival, but neither of us is big on that idea this year. Its not what it used to be. It just that our families are both there and its a three day weekend so we like to take advantage of the time to spend with each set of parents. Plus we just had our second child so I know they will be begging us to come "home". I'd rather hang out and meet ya'll though!

Hey guys... I wanted to be a dork and act like Kevin and give a dining review of an Indianapolis restaurant. Hope you enjoy!
We went to "Sushi on the Rocks" in downtown Indy tonight (in the same building as the ICE Lounge). It was pretty good...though I thought the atmosphere was lacking (we did go pretty early in the evening) but the food was excellent.
SOTR Indy is located on Meridian Street next to Bob's Tiki Lounge and across the street from the Claddaugh Irish Pub.
First off...when we walked into the lobby area, it smelled like sewage. They had a water feature (wall fountain, small river rocks in basin) that must not have been cleaned for some time. Needless to say, it put a pretty weird feeling in our stomachs. Our server was soft spoken and a seemed a little distant (we had to ask for a martini menu, something they apparently specialize in...) but was good about refilling our waters and attentive to our needs after the initial seating. There were about 3 other couples in the restaurant at the time we were there (about 7 p.m. on a Saturday night). The atmosphere of the place is mixed... there are very warm color tones on the walls, with very dark woods, and very subtle lighting. There are Buddha statues and "zen-features" all over this place to try and create some sort of ambience in the city. However, there are about 4 flat screens set on Headline News or (while we were there) some sort of Ultimate Fighting Championships ---- VERY distracting. (reminded of me when Kevin reviewed the Wave) Also, they were playing some sort of Alt-Rock playlist at what I thought was a high-volume (think Barenaked Ladies & Counting Crows). The atmosphere contradicted itself.
We started out with a bowl of edamame ($5.00)- pretty standard fare - nothing to brag about. We also decided to have a couple of cocktails - a Peach Blossom Martini ($10.00) and a Classy Appletini ($9.00) --- we thought these were a bit overpriced for the quality.
Then came the sushi, which we both thought was really good. We decided to just order a bunch of rolls (a la John & Kevin) to split. The two standard rolls we ordered were a California Roll ($4.99), and a Spicy Tuna Roll ($5.99). Their speciality rolls were the highlight of the night.
We ordered a Play-Boy Roll ($15.00) which is Shrimp tempura, Asparagus, spicy tuna, Spicy & Sweet Sauce; a Kona Roll ($10.99) which is Shrimp Tempura, Mango, Asparagus and Avocado; and a Dynamite Roll ($10.99) which is Fried Shrimp, Avocado, Cucumber and Crab - fried on the outside with spicy mayo and two other chef's special sauces. These rolls had 6-8 pieces each, and were full of ingredients, so we thought the prices were fair.
Here's a pic from my crappy camera phone: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23015756@N04/2705534578/
My favorite was the Dynamite Roll, JC's was the Kona Roll. We ate every last bit of these rolls --- they were all great. We finished our meal with Chef John's Fruit Sushi ($3.99)...which was a regular roll (only 2 pieces) with apples and peaches cut up with some berry sauce drizzled on top. This was just okay, as they used the same rice from the regular rolls (that had toasted sesame seeds) so the bitterness threw the sweetness of the fruit/sauce all out-of-whack.
After taxes, our ticket came to $82.79. Thankfully I had a $50 gift certificate so it wasn't such an expensive date.
We will probably go back to Sushi on the Rocks --- and if you like sushi, you should try it too. Hopefully they clean out the water feature before-hand. It smelled doubly-bad when we left.
Hope you enjoyed! I can't wait to try the Sushi Bar at the POLY when we're there in September!
See you at the Dis-Meet!

Thanks for the review Katie. DW Kim isn't big on fish, but if I get the shot sometime when I'm downtown I'll give it a try.
Another place which just opened up a few months ago downtown is called Fogo de Chao. It's a Brazillian restaurant where they serve you meats from the skewers. I've dined there in Downtown Chicago and just loved it. I can't wait to try it in downtown Indy.

OH I hate this! It looks like we will have a volleyball commitment that day, so we are going to have to drop out. I am bummed! There is a small chance we will be able to come, but it is best to take us off the list and not count on us. I am SO sorry! Once kids get in high school it seems like they have so many commitments it isn't funny. It was so much easier when they were young.
I hope you guys have a great meet. And just maybe (but probably not) we will be able to pop in!

Yep...I watch all of the cake specials! Actually, one of my instructors was on one of those challenges once! :)
I'm beginning to run through ideas for potential cakes now...not entirely sure what i'm gonna do yet! I'll come up with something...
Are you familiar with the Mardis Gras King Cake concept? Finding the baby?
You could make a cistern cake and whoever finds Will (another Hoosier!!) gets a prize or is crowned King/Queen! :rotfl:

That would be totally fine Debra. By the way, I'm getting ready to post the official meet time. We will have the space all day, so the meet time will be from 2:00PM until 7:00PM. If you can make it please just drop in. We may go past 7:00PM if folks wish to stay longer.

Hi Everyone,
A couple of announcements as we draw closer to the meet.
> The time of the meet has been posted. 2:00PM until 7:00PM. We have the space all day so I believe we can stay later if enough people are interested.
> Once you know what you can bring to the meet for your pitch-in item please let me know and I will update the intial post with the information.
> Also, if any of you are interested I thought we could jump in the chat room on Tuesday night August 5th from 9:00PM until 10:00 or 10:30PM to discuss planning for the meet. The chat room will be open to discuss trip planning, but I don't think it will be a problem discussing our meet. Click on the chat link above and login to participate.

Hi! :wave2:
I'm a regular Chicago meet DISer. In fact I've planned quite a few of them.
Just ask Dan! Hi Dan!! :wave2:
I'm considering joining in on the fun with all you Indiana DISers at your meet.....that is if you'll have another Chicago area DISer! ;)
Can anyone give me info on hotels in the area?
I was looking at Hotwire for a hotel near the meet location and they have the surrounding area broken down. But not knowing the areas listed I'm not sure what is best. I was looking at staying in the Keystone/Carmel or Fishers/NE Indianapolis area. What do you all think of either of those??
Any help you could give would be great.
If I do go, it will probably be myself, DD 10 and DS 6. DH will probably be working.
And we would for sure pitch-in anywhere we can!!

That would be cool, Nicole!! :cool1: :wave2: Hope you can make it!! :woohoo: The Indy meets have always been good, and this one is looking like a BIG one, like some of the old Chicago meets. :yay:
I go there to Indy most every year for the Nationals (NHRA) and have stayed a number of times along 465 on the north end of town. Several times near Carmel. This time I am staying at the Keystone Sheraton, using some points along with cash. That is on the north end of 465 also. I have not really even looked as to where the meet is, other than I know it is around Indy somewhere, LOL. :drive: Actually, looking at a Google map, I would say I have stayed in the Castleton area most often, and the 465/431 area.

08-03-2008, 10:20 AM
Bunchkin - the Fishers/NE area is closer to the meet, I'm guessing a hotel from that area will put you right off of 69 between 82nd street and 116th somewhere which is about 5 miles from where the meet is. Keystone/Carmel is also nice though, and that would be about 10 - 12 miles from the meet (just guessing). Either one is one would be great. Both have malls close by if that's important to you - Keystone is more upscale but the Castleton mall (Fishers/NE area) has a Disney Store.:thumbsup2

08-03-2008, 11:40 AM
Bunchkin...the more the merrier!!
There are a few hotels in the Noblesville area, but I might be more inclined to stay in the Fishers/Castleton area. There are some nice hotels right off of I-69 at the 96th Street exit. There is a brand new mall (no Disney Store though) off of exit 10, but no hotels yet. There's an AWESOME movie theater right there with an IMAX screen. The Castleton mall has the Disney Store and that's down on 82nd Street. There are some hotels in the Carmel/Keystone area also...there's the Fashion Mall which is more upscale, but there is a Cheesecake Factory there too!
Hi Bunchkin
That's super if you could make it. What Jennz and Scarlett both said are right on! The hotels just off of 96th st. and I-69 would be closer to the meet site. The hotels at Keystone at the Crossing are a little larger and have more shopping and dining choices. One of those locations would definately suit your needs. Let us know if you want specific hotel names. I believe there is a Holiday Inn Express at 96th and I-69 that is nice and convenient.

If you'll be in WDW that weekend, you might try to catch calypso*a*go-go's "Have a Dole Whip for Bawb" meet at Aloha Isle @2pm (Aug 30).
If you look at the BAWB/Dole Whip tribute thread in the podcast forum, calypso's signature shows this date/time. You could PM her or post there... We hope to "link" the Indy meet with the Aloha Isle meet perhaps by phone...

Just a reminder about chat this Tuesday evening, August 5th at 9:00PM until 10:30PM.

I'm not sure how many folks will be in chat that night discussing trip planning. It won't be just us Indy meet DISers.
If you've never used chat before the screen can move rather quickly. Make sure your chat screen is full screen. It helps with reading the text.
Also, the chat room closes automatically at 10:30PM.

Hello all
Just wanted to make the announcement that there will be a raffle/auction taking place during the event.
These activities are totally optional and just for the enjoyment of those who wish to participate.
I have received items from several sources for this activity and would like to thank you all for your responses! :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
If anyone has a further interest in helping with this activity... please send me an email or PM.
See everyone very soon!
Hi Everyone,
Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help setup and tear down the space at the meet please post here or send me a PM. We would be setting up tables and chairs, covering tables, and hanging some decorations. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The plan is to start setting up the space at 10:30AM. We will probably start the clean up at around 7:30 or 8:00PM.
Anyone who wishes to drop something off at the meet earlier than the 2:00PM start time please feel free to do so after 10:30AM on August 30th.
Thanks! :)
