Wish I could join all of you, but I'm officially spending Labor Day weekend visiting my husband's family in Michigan. You all have fun!

Ok...just a quick check to see we need.

DH says that he'd be happy to do an Olive Garden-esque salad for the Meet!

Are we having stuff like burgers and hot dogs? I couldn't remember if anything had been said before.

A salad would be great; especially for those who are watching their figures

Hot dogs and hamburgers are not planned. We are relying on our pitch-in items for the meet. Any hot or cold items are welcome. Please refer to the list in the initial post so we don't duplicate food items. Just let me know what you are bringing to the meet by posting it here, or sending me a PM and I will gladly update the initial post.

6 more days until the meet. :)

Once again I must come to you with bad news. I am now working Saturdays. I usually don't finish until after 5pm. By the time I go back to Greenwwod, get cleaned up, then drive up to Noblesville, it would more than likely be around 7pm. So I guess you'll have to take us off the list, I totally hate this. I hope everyone has a good time without us though. Maybe next time.

Oh Bill. Don't feel lik you need to clean up. As jennz said "come as you are". Meets like this only come around every so often. :)

Well, sorry if you can't make it. Keep us posted if anything changes.

Aaron:

Now that we are nearing the date, you can add something else to the "what we're bringing" list. In addition to the candy mix, I'll bring something nutritious. Probably a cheese or veggie tray.

Now that I've said I can't come...maybe I can. My son just informed me last night that he has tickets to the Illinois-Missouri football game in St. Louis on Saturday. If he goes to that, I'm NOT leaving him home alone for the weekend! Stay tuned!

Hi Everyone,

As we move closer to meet I wanted to remind everyone of a couple of itmes.

- I've had a few attendees volunteer to help with setup and clean up at the meet space; however, I'm still looking for a few more volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to help please send me a PM. Setup of the space will happen between 10:00AM and 1:30PM. Clean up will occur around 7:00PM or when we decide to call it a night.

- If you need to drop something off prior to the meet start time feel free to do so. I will be there as early as 10:00AM and the door will be open.

- Please PM me or post what food item(s) you will be bringing to the meet. I'll update the initial post of this thread with your food selection(s) so we don't duplicate food items.

Here is a quick glimpse of some things we have planned.

- There will be prize drawings at the top of each hour starting at 3:00PM through 6:00PM. You will need to be present to win.

- An adult scavenger hunt is planned. It's a little different than your normal scavenger hunt, nothing over the top at all. There will be a prize associated with the scanvenger hunt.

- There will be tables set aside for kids activiites. Some of the activiites include coloring and kids trivia with prizes.

- World Bouncer has organzied a silent auction. We will have a separate table setup with the auction items. Be sure to check it out when you come!

- And finally, we will get to meet each other! Many Disney fans from around the state and beyond in a fun and festive atmosphere. It should be a blast! Looking forward to seeing you there. :wizard:

I know - I like to see what everyone's bringing. Curious or nosy? Hmmm... :lmao:

If you haven't listed does that mean you can't come or don't know what you're bringing? I'm wondering how many people we'll end up having.

This is going to be fun!!

I forgot to add...dd was going to do a short drawing class like they do at the Studios but I got the feeling there wasn't any interest (except from ADP! - he was the only one who responded to the previous post). If you ARE interested lmk and she can do still do it. :)

I am posting this about 5:20 PM CDT. What time is Indy now? Is it EDT? Last time I was there, two years ago, I recall Indy did not do daylight time, so therefore was the same as Central. But now does daylight saving?

ETA, DIS time is off again, so it shows up as 5:09. :badpc: Sure wish they would fix that, been broken for several years. :confused3 :sad2:

Hi y'all. I'm a loner... and am supposed to be in Chicago that weekend... but plans may very well fall thru.

If they do... Add one more to the list? And I'll bring something yummy. :goodvibes

Hope this doesn't mess up too many people, adding another "Maybe".:confused3

How about a couple more maybe's? I have been going back and forth about coming to Indy this weekend. I've been to a couple of the Labor Day DISmeets in the past. I even got to sit with Aaron at the last one that I attended. Always a good time. Just a bit of a long drive. I think that I've talked my son James into coming with me to keep me company during the 10 hour roundtrip. He has a good friend in the Indianapolis area who he would like to visit, so he's up for the trip.

So if I get my pre Yankee Peddler Festival work done to the satisfaction of my DW Sue, James and I will be heading for Indianapolis on Saturday.

Aaron - If you could PM me with what you still need, I'll see what I can come up with.

Phew...one more cake to bake and then 3 cakes to decorate! Ugh...a few cupcakes turned into enough cake for probably 150 people! No worries on dessert...we'll have plenty! :rotfl:

We'll also be bringing an Olive Garden style salad. At least I think that's what DH said he wanted...

And do you mean that I might actually get to meet Towncrier???? After all these years??? :thumbsup2

I'm gonna be exhausted by the time this meet finally gets rolling. I've been baking in my kitchen since 7:00pm tonight. Have 1 more to go, plus the decorating...and our AC is out. Don't you feel sorry for me? :rotfl: The AC repair guy is finally coming out tomorrow so let's hope he's able to fix the AC before I get home. Otherwise, we're gonna have some droopy icing on these cakes! :rotfl2:

dd's not nervous but she is very very quiet until she gets to know people (and 5 hours isn't enough ;) ). She'll join in and answer when people ask her questions though. She's also doing the drawing class...that should be fun.

I think you're right, once they play a game or something they'll feel better and start having fun. If not, there are always brownies to help them relax!

I'm not bringing kids...and while I'm excited... I'm also nervous! JC and I are shy when we first meet people, but then we open up...

I mean, JC and I met on the internet 10 years ago... so we should be used to meeting people that way, but I do have butterflies a little bit...

So if you see an overly shy couple that's us...just come and say hi and get us out of our shells... :flower3:

So, I will bring a sandwich tray, and you will all have to imagine it is like Downtown Disney's Earl of Sandwich. If I get to the Farmer's Market in the morning, I'll have fresh Indiana tomatoes which is even better than EoS.

My DS does pin trading but just for kid fun, and we've only ever done it with CMs. I'll tell him to bring his pins, but it may be too serious for him!

Yes, they are gone. I drove by there a few weeks ago and the store is empty and "for lease". It made me really sad.

I hope everyone has a great time this afternoon. Unfortunately, due to some medical problems that came up yesterday, I'll be spending today in the hospital down the road from the fairgrounds instead of with all of you. Have a great time!

James and I just got home. There sure were a lot of state troopers out tonight. Thanks to all who made this a terrific DISmeet. It reminded me of the "old days", only better. On the way out I told Aaron that I'm going to have to hire him to organize and run our annual Memorial Day DISmeet picnic. My son was impressed with all of the activities. I'm just sorry that we didn't get there sooner to enjoy the entire picnic. Thanks for a wonderful Labor Day celebration.

I promise to bring all of my pins next time, so make sure that Katie brings her pins too. And maybe next time I'll come up with something more original than a loaf of bread and a package of ham from Sam's Club. I really needed my wife's help.

I can't say it enough. Thanks so much for throwing the best Indy DISmeet yet.

Hi Everyone,

Today was an amazing day. There were some outstanding parts of the meet that stood out to me.

Brandie - You're cake was amazing! I can't imagine the time it took to bake and decorate. It was truly wonderful.

A cake for the ages!

Meshancorp - the Dole Whip machine was terrific and quite authentic. I couldn't tell the difference. It tasted and looked authentic. Heck, you might as well say it was authentic. I certainly couldn't tell a difference.

Thanks for bringing the machine and ingrediants. It was a brilliant idea.

We had a great time with prizes too. Kids and adult prizes were awarded. Disney gift cards, Disney books, and even a Wall-E robot were given out. A special thanks to Sunshine Girl, Scott, and Tracey who helped with the prize pool! Thanks to everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt.

I really can't put into words how totally fun this meet was. We even got the opportunity to speak with Calypso A Go Go at the Dole Whip Meet for Bawb. We called her during their meet at Aloha Isle inside the Magic Kingdom. We got to speak with Calypso, Kevin, John, and Dianah. It was great speaking with you guys and one of the highlights of the meet! :)

The turn-out was super. We had 80 people show up during the 5 hours the meet took place. With a meet like this it's truly the people who make it fun and enjoyable. It's was such a pleasure meeting many of you for the first time and seeing other familiar faces from meets past, or friends we see or talk with on a weekly basis. I can't wait to do this again sometime.

Finally, here are some random shots from the meet.

Well, here at the Keystone Sheraton after a good night sleep and rest. Aaron, I do have to say that you, and all the folks from Indy and nearby area, as well as not so nearby, REALLY, REALLY outdid yourselves. I have been to a lot of meets over the years I have been here on the DIS, and have organized a good number of them. This I think I can comfortably say was the tops. :thumbsup2 Hats off to everyone.

The number of people who showed up, and lots of kids too, about 80 in total as Aaron said, the amount of food, all brought in, and some so VERY creative in the preparation, even a Dole Whip machine, the silent auction, the pins, the games and activities for the kids, and the wonderful hospitality and interaction of so many Disney nuts in one place at one time. :cool1: I had a thoroughly wonderful day.

And Aaron, with the super extension of hospitality of your mom and dad, Janet and Clarence, you, your brother, Joey and his family, my sharing of same extended well into the evening. Your mom and dad sure are one heck of a nice, warm couple, I so enjoyed my evening with them and all you guys.

Maybe during the day, or this evening, I will get up some of the pictures I took during the day yesterday. Now off for a cup of coffee and a morning newspaper downstairs, looking forward to the National Drag races tomorrow.

Once more, thank you Aaron, and everyone, for a most enjoyable day.:thumbsup2

Thanks from another Indy Disser, Aaron. The meet was a huge success and I was blown away by:

1. The FOOD! Amazing!
2. The prizes! Don't know how you did it!
3. The Silent Auction! I got some amazing deals!!

It was so nice to meet people. I sure wish I could've chatted more, but was busy chasing Shae around and making sure she didn't steal anyone's balloon, cake, toy, game, etc.

BY THE WAY... if you were at this meet and your child had a little pink phone, Shae was playing with it, and we TOOK IT HOME! PM me with your address and I'd be happy to mail it back to you!

Anyway... here are my pics from the day (similar to ones already here, but I took them, so you are going to see them!)

WOW, it's looks like you all had a great time! I wish we could have made it, but as I told Aaron a couple of days prior - sickness descended upon my household with a vengence the week leading up to it all... DW, DD and my middle DS were all sick with the flu. :guilty: We live in Noblesville just about 15 min from the 4H grounds and I did drive by on my way to the store to get something help settle an upset stomach - and wanted to stop by, but knew it wasn't the best option with 2 sickies waiting on me to return. Hopefully next time!!!

I enjoyed looking at the pictures! Obviously that'll have to do for now... til next time.

Hi guys! We had a great time yesterday too. We had to sneak out at about 5:00, so we missed the last couple of hours, but it was great putting names with faces.

I'll add my thanks to ADP (Aaron) along with all of the others. This was a lot of work that you put in! It was amazing!

Some highlights for my DH (Phillip) and I were...

Having a DOLE WHIP (or 2 or 3) (for Bawb) in Noblesville Indiana! Thank you so much so to Jason for renting that machine and getting that mix. What a cool surprise!!!!
Meeting Scarlett873 (Brandie) and her DH - who we'll be cruising with on the Podcast Cruise in May! The cake was beautiful and YUMMY!
Meeting MenashaCorp (Jason) and MerriePoppins (Susan) - also fellow future Podcast Cruisers!
Finally meeting Dan Murphy, who has to be the nicest DIS-er of all time. I've been on the DIS for 10 years (yes - I'm an oldtimer) and meeting Dan Murphy has been something I've wanted to do for a long time.
Meeting another DIS "oldtimer" Towncrier and his son and seeing his amazing pin collection!
Sitting with, eating with, and chatting with Disneypirate85 (Shawn and Heather), two of the nicest people I've ever met and a couple we have a LOT in common with, including DVC memberships and an understanding of what's important and why we love WDW!
AND... meeting crazydisneyman, World Bouncer, and all of the other wonderful people we met!

I am sorry that DW and I missed the party on Saturday. I had an issue with the systems at the office (Server Down) and ended up in there at work almost all weekend. We really wanted to make it down.

It will be easier when we are living closer next year when we relocate to Noblesville.

Again sorry, and we promise we will make the next one!

Labor Day Weekend 2009? I know some have asked about the next one, but honestly, I'm still trying to soak up the fun from this one.

I dropped the key off to the building yesterday at the fairgrounds. When I drove past the building to leave I started thinking about the meet. Many thoughts and emotions went through my mind. I was smiling, laughing, and day dreaming all the way home. Folks driving past me or sitting next to me at a stop light must have thought I was crazy! Seriously, I need tinted windows.

Cute! Hey, if you have one next year, could we theme it the Indy Pirate & Princess Dis Meet! princess:

True! Those were wonderful. I am hoping they have a P & P Party when we are back at WDW in March. We just loved that event!

Was the first Indy DIS meet in 2001 at Loon Lake Lodge? I was there!

That was the first one to my knowledge. I believe that Serena organized that meet.

I just want to give a BIG thank you to ADP and everyone else involved in making the meet so wonderful. My SIL and I are the Diser's and when we left our husbands were already discussing what their Dis names are going to be. You have inspired them! We would love to do it again! How about Mickey's Very Merry Indy Christmas Party!:santa: Thanks again!!:goodvibes :goodvibes
