I like to think it stands for More Baloney Allowed.... At least with it I'll not fret if they ship my job to India or Croatia.
No shipping jobs overseas if Mr. Obama gets elected. He will impose tax penalties on companies that outsource jobs to other countries and give tax breaks to those who create jobs in the USA. He said it on TV, endorsed the message, and I believe him. (NOT)
But look at it this way Pete.... you know all the words to Benny Lava, so you're a step ahead! You need a hindu yew!!

I copied these from the faq page, I have violated quite a few myself, but never been yelled at.... yet
2. NO PROFANITY: Simply put, don't use swear words and don't post or link to suggestive or inappropriate photos. The boards are equipped with censoring software. If you try to use a profanity, it will be filtered and appear as all asterisks. Please don't get creative in an attempt to bypass the filters. This is considered the same as using the word itself and will result in an infraction (http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm#INFRACTION). If you post or link to pornography, you'll be banned from our site. 3. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction (http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm#INFRACTION). 4. NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: The types of posts that we like to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from. When a post is intended for an individual, it creates a problem and can be very awkward for both the person you're publicly contacting as well as others. Did you know that you can easily get in touch with almost anyone via the DIS Private Message system? Simply click on the name of the person and you should see a link for sending them a private message and/or email. If you come across a situation where the person has blocked these options, sorry you still can't use the boards to get in touch.5. ADVERTISING: The advertisers/sponsors who you see on the DIS are carefully chosen. While we welcome discussion of them as well as other businesses that you have information or questions about, if its determined that you are using the DIS to promote a commercial venture, you will lose your posting privileges. This includes choosing a username/signature that refers to your business. In addition, links to the company's website will be blocked. Also note that we do not want the boards to be used for solicitations or for requesting referrals. 6. STAYING ON TOPIC: Each of the DIS boards focuses on a specific topic. Please look the choices over before posting on the wrong board. For instance, you don't want to ask about park hours on the Restaurants Board or tell everyone about your stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort on the Disney Cruise Line Board. It makes it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for when the boards stay on topic.
7. MODERATORS: The DIS has a wonderful group of Moderators who have volunteered to assist our visitors and monitor the boards. Part of their responsibilities is ensuring that our guidelines are followed which may require that a thread is edited, deleted, closed or moved. If these decisions impact you, we ask that you respect them. Should you have any questions, please direct them to admin@wdwinfo.com. Any discussion about a Moderating decision that takes place on the boards could result in an infraction (http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm#INFRACTION).

I had knee surgery in the Army once. When I woke up, there was a tray of greasey pork chops and tater tots in front of me. After I threw up, they told me I had to eat it or I couldn't go home. So I choked it down. Then they made me pee, then they made me go to a window and pay for the crappy lunch I was trying to keep down since I was an officer. It cost me 5 bucks and I had to wait in line for 45 minutes on crutches still under the influence. Want to know what really made me mad? I got all this great treatment from a hospital I was on staff at!

Thanks for asking He finally went to work today. We'll see if he lasts the whole day. Don't you just hate it when the DH's are home, you can't get a thing done. He did put his version of what happened here.

I'll check that link out!
Thanks for asking, Denise. Everybody is hanging in there. No new news at the moment. We are home for now, but ready to take off if we need to. My MIL is a trooper. Her hubby is "throwing cells" or something. Not good, whatever that is. Her Dad is ok, but will only go down hill from here. Her mom recently found out she has cancer of her stomache lining, but she is still going strong. Right now, we're trying to convince MIL to go to the Fort with us in December. I have a feeling that she will really need to get away by then.

Maybe be a stupid question. but here goes why are the looking at torso when the pain is in your head?
I had migraines and solved the problem by going to a chiropractor, my back and neck were messed up. I think it's called the atlas.

I know you were talking to Killabrew, but I have to say that the GF is the only resort I have yet to stay at at Disney (over my 32 years of visiting). I made it a point to stay in each resort at least once, but I wanted to save the GF for after I was married (plus, could never really afford it before...heh).
We were going to go this year for our anniversary, but Beth was pregnant with Reilly and we figured it would be better if we went when he was a little bit older. So definitely in the next few years we plan on going, it's going to be great staying at a resort with Beth and not having some previous memory of staying there. She thinks it's kind of special too, or she's just sick of thinking what girl did Chris bring to this resort...lol.
The place is definitely super expensive, so we'll be saving up for that trip for sure. We're not rich by any means, but we do alright ;)

I must be weird, cause none of the deluxes really appeal to me. The only moderate I "really" like is POFQ. I like visiting the deluxes and have had some great meals at the deluxes, but as far as staying somewhere, I much prefer having a 1st floor room with outside doors and a Food Court where we can grab something quick on the way to the bus. The values and POFQ are the only resorts that fit that bill.
The Fort is in a totally different class cause I can have my quick breakfast right at the camper.
(I did really enjoy the jacuzzi tub the 1 night I got to stay in the BWV 1 bedroom, but for an extended trip, I don't think I'd enjoy having to trek down that hall all the time.)

07-14-2008, 11:05 PM
We've stayed Poly, Beach Club and WL, as far as Deluxe. Caribbean Beach as a moderate. We prefer the WL out of the four. Although, I would stay at the Poly if it were just my husband and I..our kids want no part of it. Think it's boring.
I've visited the GF..and have eaten there. Would I stay there. ..hmmm...not so much. I'm just not impressed with it. If I were to choose a Deluxe to stay at without cost being an option, I think I'd go with Yacht Club..with a really nice view. ;) I like the location as far as it's proximity to both Epcot and the Studios. Even staying in the Deluxe resorts..we've never paid rack rate..always went with a discount or code. I don't think any of them is worth paying rack rate for. Not when there's a way around that. I'd think with being a Fl resident or having an AP there are ways to save most of the time.
Of course staying in FW..is the best option of all! :cool1:

We visited alot of the resorts last May, just to check them out because we never have had time to do that before......Im a very regular guy, maybe even SUB-REGULAR, by this I mean...You'll never see me in a polo, Dockers and penny-loafers....EVER!!!!! EVER!!!! Baring that in mind....I felt so out of place walking through the GF.....very "Hmmmmmf'd" at and looked down upon....Im fairly used to this in my line of work and carrying the image that I do (bald head, goatee, fat.....must be a trouble maker) it doesnt so much bother me, but Id rather not subject myself to the yuppies prejudices. Im too simple for GF.Have NO DESIRE to ever even visit again...Id have loved to try Victoria & Alberts(Albert & Victoria's?)...but I cant eat with no tie on!!!
Now, the polynesian was my idea of paradise.....I felt like we were in a cheesy episode of Fantasy Island, and LOVED it.
But they just cant hold a candle to how comfortable I am at the fort...I can be who I am, and no one could care less. Thats a very comforting, homey feeling.

We were once fishing on a guided excursion in front of the GF when a guy all dressed in a suit and tie asked the guide to move us cause someone complained that us fishing was making them ill. I'll never stay there even if it was free.
You know, I liked the GF when it was first constructed nearly 20 years ago. I stayed there a couple of times then. About 4 or 5 years ago, Scott had a business trip that put him up at GF and he was so not about the place. I couldn't imagine why. Then I went back for a vist and realized that it had become really stuffy and upity. I mean, its an upscale place but it is still Disney! I really don't get the point of pretense.....or why anyone would be on the beach at Disney in a frickin' suit!
Having said that, I'd still like to take my girls there once. Meija would NOT be all about it, Lexi would think its fine.....but Annalise would LOVE it! She is such the "pamper me I'm a princess type!"
Gotta say...still love the Poly. No, it isn't Hawaii....but gosh do I have some memories wrapped up in that place!

You know, I've never been able to figure out the pricing of the Disney resorts. None of them come even close to 4 star quality, but they charge rates that are well above most real 4 star hotels - you pay for the location I guess. That's why I like the SoG - big rooms, very nice resort at a good price and great location. That's hard to beat.

Active and reserves, retired, 100% disabled, and you can stay if an eligible guest sponsors you. We've done that before. Look on the website for more info
www.shadesofgreen.org
They also run a special for veterans in September and January IIRC. All you need then is a DD214. You need to make reservations well in advance though. They tend to book up fast.

I have to disagree with most of the comments here, I've visited every resort and never once felt like anything was stuffy or people were looking down on me. I guess it's all in how you view the world around you (not meant as a negative at all). Now, not liking a resort, I get that, I'm not big on the Poly myself, I love the outside theming but the rest I don't care much for. And I don't care if it's a Disney ripoff, I'm there to visit Disney, not the actual Polynesian ;)
Last time I visited the GF, I was wearing camo shorts and a John Deere shirt. Maybe I just don't pay much attention to the people around me, but I never once felt like I didn't fit in. I've partied with bums, I've partied with rock stars, I've partied with millionaires, it's just how you present yourself. Plus I'm normally staying at a Disney resort for the experience of the place, I could care less about who else is staying there...lol.

Shades of Green is one of the best kept secrets in Disney, so many people don't even know about it. Of course, considering that only military people can get in, not surprising, but I've always heard great things about the place.

It's a country inn theme - very, very nice. The rooms are huge - bigger than any other standard room at WDW. BTW, I don't think GF is stuffy either, just way over priced! We were there for a wedding a couple of years ago and everyone was very nice.

Yea, much like everything in Disney, way overpriced. I think the Poly is extremely overpriced for the rooms you get, I told Beth I wouldn't stay there unless we were getting Florida discount rates. Then again, we always try to get Florida rates...heh.

I'm surprised you hadn't stayed there when it was the "Disney Inn" years ago, before it became SOG. The rooms are quite large..they used to have a sitting area and two queen beds. We had been to the golf course there once, and they had a warning out for aligators.:faint: We left. They used to have the topiaries of the seven dwarfs back then. Not sure what it's like now..but was very quaint at the time. This was in the mid 90's.

You know..I think I like WL more because it ISN"T a monorail resort. Just takes it down a notch. While the Poly has a nice laid back feel to it...the idea of the monorail was never a consideration for us. It can be a hike to get to it, depending on where your long house is located anyway. We found ourselves taking the water launch to the MK, when we stayed there, and didn't have to deal with the monorail crowds. I like the water launch from the WL to the MK...such a nice liesurely way to reach the MK..and no, I don't mind when it stops at the Fort either. I rather enjoy it. I don't know why people are in such a rush, when it's supposed to be their vacation.

The buildings didn't move...so why wouldn't you have figured that one out? When Disney Inn became SoG in 1994, they simply changed the sign out front. No major remodeling was done until 2003. The rooms at the Disney Inn were the same as those at the Poly & CR-Main Building. Just different theming - no bigger or smaller. I've stayed at all 3 resorts. They were all the same "cookie cutter" designs. Just like WL, GF & AKL are all basically the same buildings, just themed differently.
Maybe Kevin would be so kind as to take pictures of his room at the GF and post them when he does his Labor Day trip report. I'd love to see the decor in those rooms. TIA, Kev!

Deb, I'll be happy to post a pic of the room. A funny story, during our Christmans trip to WDW me and my wife went to the GF and my wife wanted to see what the rooms were like. They showed us a suite where the stars stay. Let's just say we were vey inpressed. I don't know who they thought we were. We were both wearing shorts and tennis shoes.
Let's just say we're not staying in that room. But I will show you what standard rooms look like.
