Alas, Pete.... a particular someone's kid will never be taught how to "fit in" at FtW...:sad2:

Better yet you could buy one from Best buy use it for 13 days and return it on day 14 and tell them you didn't need it. or it worked poorly. Thats what my Bro-in law would do. He does it so often that everyone at the Hickory NC Best Buy knows him by name. The last time we visited them I made the mistake of riding with him to the video store (Best Buy). The woman at the register said. " Now Scott honey you know that you can not return this DVD you can only exchange it for the same title if this one doesn't work" he told her ok. When we got to the car he said he would return it next week. But she told you that you can't. He said if it doesn't work and they don't have anymore of the same title they let you pick one of equal value. and this will be the last one they have of this title because I hid the rest of them. There was no way I was riding back to the video store with him ever.
I just wonder about this guy after all he was born in Texas and raised in the sticks in western North Carolina.

You know, I've been retired from the army for 5 years now and my favorite thing to wear is still an army PT uniform:
http://www.army.mil/symbols/Images/phis.jpg
because it's comfortable, is great to workout in, is great to sweat in because it wicks sweat away, and it kind of defines ME! Plus I have about a million of them - I'm wearing a set now! It's also great to wear as PJs when we camp. It's an all around utility type garb! The only thing I don't like are the sweat pants because I wear the shorts as long as the temp is above 15.

Sonya,
Glad to hear you guys are safe. We got hit 9 years ago. Took out both air conditioning units in the attic plus tons of other stuff. Almost $10000 in claims. It hit on a Saturday evening so we had to live without A/C for longer than one would like in Dallas in summer. No major structural damage, just lots of dead electronics.

Yet another baked beans song..... (too bad you can't acutally hear it)
Agatha dearly loves baked beans,
It's a meal she truly enjoys.
But every time she eats them,
She makes an embarrassing noise!
Now she eats more than ever,
Enough to make me and you sick.
Cause she washes them down with pineapple juice,
And enjoys the Hawaiian music!!

It's about 50 miles from my house.

From you take I-75 N all the way to Chattanooga, then I-24 West, then US-72 West.

ever been there? There's a store called unclaimed baggage, where all the orphan baggage from the airlines goes.
I go there every so often. There are some good deals, but as they've gotten more popular, the prices have gone up.
What's even better is their section they have now on unclaimed freight. Where entire shipments of stuff gets sent there. Brand new stuff, at pretty decent prices.

Hey! I just wanted to drop in and say hi to everyone. I know we haven't been too active since the GG over Memorial Day, but we have good reasons! Dean's been out of town for work and I am busy working on a BABY. We are due in December and I'm already planning our first trip out to the fort with the Kid in tow. That'll be a couple of years down the road though. Hope everyone is well and I'll try to check in more often!!

Someone here asked a question about Team Fokker a few days ago. Although I'm usually too scared to venture over to the Community Board, I did find this post and thought I'd post it here. It explains Team Fokker very well.
This is the place for Team Focker Watch members to congregate, chat, etc.
As always, all are welcome. But who are we, anyway????
It all started with one woman's dream... a dream of finding a way to non-verbally acknowledge a fellow DISer across a crowded park...
Summer 2006: a terrific DISer named Lisa posed the question of how to acknowledge all those Lime Green Mickey Heads (LGMH's), lime green Crocs, lime green Baggallini's, lime green DISERS, when one is standing in line or otherwise unable to engage in conversation.
The answer? Robert DeNiro's infamous "I'm Watching You Focker!" gesture from Meet the Parents:
http://www.netzeitung.de/img/0088/166288.jpg
What followed was the joining together of many DISers willing to give The Look to other DISers. We began posting trip details in order to find one another. Then, we started chatting about our trips and building friendships. That's when it got chatty. REALLY chatty. Which is the reason for this thread - here we can chat away, keep in touch with old friends and make new ones. :goodvibes
We are TEAM FOCKER WATCH!
One rule:
Let's keep it clean! We all know how much fun one can have with the name Focker, but let's refrain from inappropriate word-plays with it on the boards, k?
Welcome, and ENJOY!

Tips for the ladies in year 2008
1. Aspire to be Barbie - the girl has everything.
2. If the shoe fits - buy one in every color.
3. Take life with a pinch of salt... A wedge of lime, and a shot of tequila.
4. In need of a support group? - Cocktail hour with the girls!
5. Go on the 30 day diet. (I'm on it and so far I've lost 15 days).
6. When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it.
7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just your personality.
8. I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here..
9. Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.
10. Don't get your knickers in a knot, it solves nothing; and makes you walk funny.
11. When life gives you lemons in 2008 - turn it into lemonade then mix it with vodka.
12. Remember every good looking; sweet, single male is someone else's ex-boyfriend!

Rumplemintze tastes HORRIBLE, like scope mixed with terpintine...so anything you mix it with is only going to make the mixer taste horrible. The best method is to chill the heck out of it, and do shots real fast, and chase it with something immediately. Dont go crazy your first time...it hits you like a mac truck...do maybe 3 shots and see how it affects you after 20 minutes. Its a great buzz...not a drunk.....its a completely different high.

I have my "uh oh it must be late" shot a couple weeks ago while we were all out, it's called an Oil Slick (or a Screaming Nazi, but trying to be PC here :P). Rumplemintze and Jagermeister together, one is clear the other one dark (and they float on top of each other, hence oil slick).
That's what my wife calls the "trouble" shot, and she hates when I take them. They normally mean lots of frivolity ahead....lol

My husband is headed to upstate NY..to our seasonal site. Bringing the golf cart up. We've had a very late start to the camping season this year. Between family BS that we have going on..and the kids ending school late. We haven't gotten there but twice since May. Now it turns out that I pulled my back..and won't be making the 3 1/2 hr. drive. He's on his own! He loves it..travels at 3 in the morning so he doesn't hit traffic. We have my younger son taking up some friends the last week of July. I've got to get ready to accomodate FOUR teenage boys....
Anyone recommend a good tent? What's brand should I be looking at..or does it matter? I figure the kids will have a better time in a tent than cramming into the trailer with us. Also..they are BOYS..and farting is not only hiliarious(and no, it apparently doesn't matter how old they get) but a favorite past time. I don't wanting ANY of that in the trailer. Suggestions anyone?

If you go to ABC.com or Fox.com, you can watch any episode of popular TV shows for free. That's what I do if I miss an episode of Lost or House. I know ABC has all the seasons from Lost & Desperate Housewives available on-line. There are other programs too, I just don't remember which ones - cause Lost & House are the only two I am "obsessed" with.

DEB- "Death, where is your sting?" I left MILs Bible open to that page....I hope she sees it. Thanks for that!
Scott's G-dad had a pretty good night last night despite everything. He has a brain tumor and it's growing rapidly. I adore that man! He is the sweetest, gentlest man you could ever meet! With WW2 stories that could curl your hair! I'm really not ready for this.
His Stepdad, on the other hand, isn't fairing so well. He was pretty out of it yesterday.
I have to say, though. Last night, I sat out on MILs porch. She lives just a bit off the beaten path and right next door to her parents. It's quiet out here, except for the crickets and bull frogs and the sound of water rushing over rocks in her pond. Her porch is something right out of an old movie set. Burl himself would be proud. I sat on her rocker with the blueish light covering everything, listening to the sounds of nature and my girls and their cousins chasing frogs and fireflies in the yard, running back and forth between the 2 houses. This is the stuff that makes memories. My kids will always remember summer nights at their Grandparents house. I just can't help but think that the summers just won't be the same after this one.

Lowe's will beat any advertised price on appliances and beat it by 10%, so if you have a washer and dryer on sale for 999.99, they will give you the same set for 899.99. So, I am going to Lowe's to see if they are worth their word.

see, i had the repair guy come out 8 mos ago (when Chris was off work, BIG MISTAKE) and he put in a new main circuit board...250 bucks...I was so mad he authorized that, but water under the bridge...

They are worth their word. We got our washer there last year. We just called HH Gregg from Lowe's and they gave us HH Greggs price minus 10%. Of course, ours cost nowhere near that, cause our old one broke at the worst possible time, so we just got another standard washer. Our hope is to get one of those new FL sets soon.

That being said, degrees are becoming more and more less necessary. I'm a software engineer, and not a single person in my entire company has a degree, they are all self-taught. Myself, I went to college for a couple years, but found it wayyyyyyyyyyy too slow and absolutely pointless. I've been doing this for over 10 years now, and the lack of a degree has only made me realize how much money I saved...lol. The problem is that colleges have basically become money mills, and the increasing price of education is absolutely ridiculous. It's no longer about putting forth the brightest, it's about how much money can be made.
I understand that degrees are still required for a lot of fields out there, but I even heard my dad say the other day that a degree just isn't worth much anymore (obviously doctorates and the like still are), and he was ALWAYS a huge "you gotta go to college" kind of guy. He was a cop for 25 years, and the only reason he got a degree was for the pay raise. Go figure that he graduated Summa Cum Laude....heh.
I just read a study today that only 15% of the parents of graduating high school seniors had the $100,000 for a college degree. Colleges are outpricing themselves, and unless you are in a field that absolutely requires a degree, I really don't see the need for one.
That being said, let me go deposit some money into Reilly's college fund...lol.
