I was with my aunt today when she finally got her call from the Dr. The MRI was normal. Still no word on the seizure and why it happened but at least this part is over and she can finally quit worrying she has tumors or something uncurable. Her mood changed quickly and a lot of stress was taken away. Thanks again for those who gave us their thoughts and prayers.
That is great news! I know that when you find out things aren't as bad as you expect it does completely change your mood. I'm very happy for you and your aunt. Here's to good health!

Whew!!! That's a relief!! Let's hope it was just serious heat prostration & nothing else. I had another thought Donnie. Is she on any kind of blood pressure medication? I know Ziac in particular has a warning (in tiny letters) to avoid long periods of time in the sun. I was on that med for about 6 months and had some rotten side effects from it.

my guard comes with machine gun, and beer.
Well, at least the beer part is true!!:rotfl:
Your guard was weaponless when his unit was activated and sent to guard the perimeter of Ground Zero in the days following the 9/11 attack. Admittedly, it was not his decision not to carry a weapon, but I was appalled that the Army Nat'l Guard was sent to protect that area and were not allowed any weapons!
(Psst....Don't tell Al, but his little sister lost a lot of sleep & shed some tears over that one until she knew he was safe and sound and back home. He did call me as much as he could to let me know what was going on. He really is a great big brother, but I'd never let him know that!;) )

And that is the logic of the government in action. Only one thing more frustrating - to be issued a weapon but no ammunition and told to guard something. I guess you could always throw it at someone, ala the old Superman series.

It was a state activation at first and the decision was made by Gov Pataki and Mayor Giuliani - we also couldn't use the term Ground Zero - it was always the zone - also weren't allowed to have cameras. A lot of strange decisions were made. Giuliani made a reputation based on his performance at the WTC - if the reputation was positive, it wasn't deserved. The real heroes in my opinion were the NYFD.
When the activation became federal all officers and senior NCOs were issued weapons.

I never really liked the reference to the twin towers as ground zero. It was confusing, since Trinity site as referred to as ground zero for over 50 years and subsequently, any area directly below a nuclear blast was called ground zero for planning purposes. By the way, Trinity is still radioactive after all these years - I was there about 8 years ago on an exercise.

I got a text from Jen's hubby last night saying she had been a very bad girl and I must call her immediately :lmao:
She'd had a bit of a hard time health wise and got pretty darn ill last night. She was forced against her will to go to the doc and now has lots of drugs with names she can't pronounce, but they will make her better by the fojgg!!!!:yay:

Absolutely impossible to get caught up. I am using laptop on batteries that are fading fast, at a WIFI hotspot at Crockett's Tavern at the Fort (no, I am NOT trying to rub it in). I just wanted to post that I miss you guys. Honest to God.
Yeah...sure....
I also got some good news on the job front while I have been here. I was contacted the other day by a recruiter from Microsoft, and I have an initial phone interview scheduled for Monday the 30th after we return from vacation. Wish me luck folks.. for me, working for Microsoft is my dream job.
...
:yay: Best of luck to you!!!!!
???!?!?!???
Ok...do ya'll think the DISboards are cursed????Since Ive been a member(10 months)....no less than 6 people have lost their jobs, a dozen or more have had some serious injuries and/or illness, another half a dozen have family member illness....and poor John has had ALL OF THE ABOVE AND a personal visit from SATAN HIMSELF practically!!!!
Ha! I don't think its cursed. I think this stuff is going on all over right now. I'm just thankful that we have each other for support!
We spoke to a couple of lawyers today, and NOPE, we sure wont be profitting from her pain....all she can get is paid medical bills and lost wages....and only 66.66% of her average REPORTED income at that!!!!
Rog, I'm so sorry you and Gina are stuck in this mess! Its bad enough that she has to deal with the pain of her knee! Unfortunately, you can't take for granted that anyone else will be fighting for her, you will have to be her advocate. I hope she gets everything she deserves!!!!!!
With all the surgeries, illness and broken appendages on here lately I just thought I would share something positive.
About a year ago, I posted a thread about prayers for a fellow camping family. That family is my DB, DSil and DNephews. My Dsil was just diagnosed for the second time in a year, almost to the day with leukemia. We had to cancel a family trip to the fort to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. Dsil underwent a bone marrow transplant and had some really rough times. We are approaching the year mark again and I have got to say the power of prayer and well wishes from everyone has worked. The doctors say the bone marrow is doing what it is supposed to (it is her sisters). This October we will be taking that trip with my parents, DB and family and DSis and family. We are now in vacation mode and getting all our plans made. Can't wait to take my 2 nephews to the Magic Kingdom for the first time!
What wonderful news!!!!!! I just know that will be a trip of a lifetime!
that gatordad sucks, all he does is make sure all glasses are always filled.
You could earn some good tips that way!

EVER WONDER ....
Why the sun lightens our hair,
but darkens our skin ?
Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline "Ps ychic Wins Lottery"?
Why is " abbreviated" such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If flying is so safe,
why do they call the airport the terminal ?
:lmao: Thanks for the laugh Ami!

An explanation before I add to Ami's clever list.
We have had this "international sensation" here in Lakeland since March. He is, by his own admission, a former drug addict, alcoholic, served time in prison for sexually assaulting a seven year old boy...you get the drill. And then he "found" Jesus! (Hallelujah!) He knows the Lord-ah! He's been given this tremendous pow-ah to heel-ah!!
This guy is a one man circus and has drawn crowds of 1,000+ EVERY DAY, from all over the world, since March... all looking for their "healing"!!! The guy slams people on their foreheads with the heel of his hand and hollers (no kidding on this one) BAM!! Then the people fall over in a dead faint (they are really knocked out if you ask me) saying they've been "slain in the spirit and healed of their illness"! There have been claims that this guy has even brought people back to life!
So my question is this....
"Why aren't these charleton's who claim to be working and healing for the 'Lord-ah'... why aren't they walking the halls of the hospitals, nursing homes, and cancer centers?" After all,,,, their ability is supposedly a "gift" from God. They should be "giving" it away!
Christians out there - don't slam me. I am a Christian & proud to admit it. I'll talk about my Savior to anyone who wants to listen...but this guy is just totally off the wall & so idiotic. These kind of people, and all their publicity, is what gives us Christian's such a bad rap.

When this guy first came to Lakeland, the church that hosted him had throngs of people standing in the parking lot & the church itself was packed. I was embarrassed (and still am) that there are that many gullible people in this world.
When a major road was being tied up due to traffic, they moved the "show" to the south side of town and the municipal airport which is in an unpopulated area and directly off a major I-4 by-pass (go figure). They have a HUGE circus style tent large enough to hold 1500 or so people. A friend of mine who is working security there said that the FBI has agents posted in the tent due to the fact people are flying in from all over the world to see this clown.
I work part time at Home Depot, and people are coming in about an hour or two before "show time" to buy large wooden dowels to put their home made signs on trying to get "The Healer's" attention in order to get his gift bestowed upon them. One customer asked if I had been to the "Revival" yet. I told her I'd go once Todd cleared all the patients out of Lakeland Regional Hospital. I truly don't think she caught on to what I was trying to say.
Years ago, my DH & I drove his grandparents about 80 miles one way to see Ernest Angsley. He was another charleton in my book. Every time Ernest pointed in our direction of the theatre and claimed someone in this area "needed a healing", these three little old black ladies would get up & work their way down the row to the main aisle. Ernest's "attendant" who was posted in that aisle, told them that Ernest was not pointing a them. How the heck did HE know that??? This happened about 3 or 4 times that I can remember.

It's sad really...I mean how desperate people are to be flocking(so to speak) to see someone who is a former child molester turned healer. I would think that if the Lord was able to reach a soul such as his, the guy would have had the decency live out every day of his life reflecting on the harm he did, and praying for forgiveness. Yet people are comming in droves to find their salvation..or cure their ills.
I don't think the Lord will present himself in a child molester...I think that is the work of someone else. :rolleyes1

Thanks everybody! She is a sweetie!
Ami-
What an adorable dog! What breed is Lillie? I've always wanted a little dog. Somehow I keep ending up with Rottweilers. :cutie: Good luck with her. I'm sure it's a huge help to your MIL.
She's a Shih-Poo. A mix between a shih-tzu and a poodle. She'll crawl up on your lap and nibble your chin...it's so cute!
How does Teagan like Lillie?
You remembered her name!
Teagan enjoys playing with Lillie but when she's had enough, she's HAD ENOUGH! She is a very patient dog and we're making sure to give her plenty of extra love right now.

well, you know...ALL my DDs are stellar, of course ;)
Right now, I need to brag on my oldest a little. Not only did she make honor roll all year, make the performance choir at school and get selected as a peer moderator....
Last night she auditioned for a singing competition "Star of the Blue Ridge". She isn't old enough for the real competition, but she did have the opportunity to have an American Idol kind of experience with a panel of judges. Basically, they all told her she was a rock star!!! They said her voice was beautiful, strong and confident! The only critique they had for her was that her body language did not reflect the confidence in her voice. I'm so proud! :goodvibes
Now I have to go be a rock star and sing for a mission group, then play softball. Ta ta for now!

Hey, I got an idea for all you guys who like to lose your money in the lottery. Just send whatever you would normally spend each week to me, FWGuy. At the end of each month, I pull some random numbers off my computer, and if it's the number I assign to you, then you'll get the money. I promise!!! If there are no winners, then ol' FWGuy gets to buy Kungaloosh supplies! This is a no lose situation, folks, and I don't think you can afford to pass it up.
As a disclaimer, to Scott and Rhonda, I'm only kidding and am in no way self promoting for profit.
Hey, remember when Soupy Sales got in trouble for telling all the kids to go into their mother's purses and send him those green pieces of paper?
I sat on an airplane with Soupy about 20 years ago in California. He didn't want to talk about the above incident.

It's a nice, quiet Friday at the North East Outpost for FW, and I was just thinking of some of the cool jobs I have had. When I was stationed out in the desert in California, I was the Plague Control Officer. I got to travel all over the desert visiting prairie dog colonies and dusting all the holes with flea powder, the theory being the prairie dog would rub against the edges of the hole whenever he went in or out and the flea powder would rub off on his fur, killing the fleas that carry the plague. How cool is that?

Bubonic plague is carried and transmitted by fleas, and the prairie dogs are the unsuspecting hosts for these fleas. Believe it or not, there are several cases of Bubonic plague every year in the United States. Fortuneately, it can be treated with antibiotics. I used to have to put up signs that warned of the plague in the areas of the colonies.

Back when the Hearst family owned most of California, this place was William Randolph Hearst's hunting estate. He had this 30,000 sq ft "cottage" built on the property for this actress he was having an affair with, which became the O club and the commanding officer's quarters. There were only 8 officers assigned there. It was under CDEC, which I don't think exists anymore. Most of the officers were quartered in Hearst's chicken coops, but they didn't have one for me so I lived about 25 miles away in King City. It looked like Korea there, and in fact the opening to the MASH television series was filmed there, althought the series itself was filmed in the hills around LA.

Wow. It was only 90 today, but it sure felt hotter. It was lawn day today. Only 4 hours to do everything. Humidity was also bearable for Dallas.
Friday evening took the family to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. My company is a major sponsor for the orchestra so we get a company only concert about once a year. It's a lottery for employees to get tickets, but I've been lucky so far and managed to get tickets every time I've submitted for them. We didn't get to go last year because we were at the Fort during the concert. What's really interesting is that both my DDs will not listen to classical music on the radio, but absolutely love going to the symphony.

Mike, you keep taking your DD's to the symphony! As a player in a symphony, we absolutely love the youngsters coming to hear us play. Although I am not in a major symphony like you went to hear, I know they share the same feelings as I do. Thanks for exposing your children to the arts!

Jen, glad you're feeling better. Jealous that you're at the Fort and we're not.
I'd like to be able to go to the DSO more often. We've also been to a few plays as a family; Les Miserables, Mama Mia and something else I can't remember off hand. Usually every Christmas we go see the Vocal Majority Christmas show. They are a 150 man choir, world renowned, winning a number of awards and are actually a real bargain for an exceptional chorus.
Both of my DDs are very musically inclined anyway. I started them in piano lessons at about ages 5 and 7. Right now the youngest (12) just started playing clarinet last year in band she got a superior rating on her first UIL solo. She has also been in the local childrens choir for 2 years and is taking summer PE so she can take choir and band in middle school. The oldest (15 next Sunday) has been a percussionist in band for 3 years and has been singing in choir for 5 years.

Mike, you keep taking your DD's to the symphony! As a player in a symphony, we absolutely love the youngsters coming to hear us play. Although I am not in a major symphony like you went to hear, I know they share the same feelings as I do. Thanks for exposing your children to the arts!
Jen! First, I'm glad to see you back!! Have they figured anything out about your migraines?? I hope by this time they've done a scan or an MRI. You've had this way to long.
Now... you are a gal of many talents!! You play in a symphony??? What instrument do you play?
As a kid I studied flute with the 1st flautist of the Buffalo Philharmonic. As one of his students, I actually got to play in a few concerts with the orchestra. In my teen years I also got to sing in a swing choir with the same philharmonic! Those were some of the biggest moments in my life!!! I still play duets with our church organist from time to time, but man, if you don't keep up with it, you lose your embouchure!!! Last time I played (Easter Sunday), I dropped my instrument & some of the keys no longer work. It's not worth the $$ to fix it, and I can't justify buying a new one for the little I use it - even a nice used one is around $400! I placate my musical needs by strumming my folk guitar or plunking around on one of the pianos at church. I'm not good at either one of those instruments, but good enough to satisfy myself!
Maybe we should start a FtW Concert Band??? As a semi-retired Choir Director, I could be the leader!! A Mickey Mouse back-scratcher would make a great baton!!:thumbsup2

Yup, I'm back amongst the crazies! And I am soooo glad.
Good to see you both back and posting. RE: Symphony, we go to the Buffalo Philharmonic often - actually we're going in a couple of weeks to a place called Artpark where the BPO will play John Phillip Sousa - got the tickets as a Father's Day present. Why did they think I'd like to listen to a bunch of marches? :lmao:
Two out of 3 of my kids were active in bands up until college - then they pretty much stopped - one took piano for like 12 years straight.
When we were in Oahu a few years ago we were driving up the coast and had a symphony playing on the car radio and when they finished we found out it was a recording of the Buffalo Philharmonic!
I used to do the arm fart thing, but my wife made me stop.

Unlike the South Pole, which is located on the continent of Antarctica, the geographic North Pole is covered by nothing but a sheet of shifting ice on the surface of the Arctic Ocean. There is thus no permanent habitation nor even an official marker for the position, as the ice moves from year to year. Although it was once an elusive goal that took the lives of many explorers, thanks to modern aviation and other technology, it is now the destination of commercial travel expeditions.

Some have golf carts, some sports cars....Santa has a sleigh...I'm sure he chose the North Pole specifically for the way the ice works offering just the right conditions for ultimate acceleration providing the ability for the utmost airspeed velocity in order to propel him around the world at the speed in which he is famous for.

I was going to major in music in college and even had a decent scholarship to SUNY Fredonia. Things didn't work out (long story) and ended up taking Dental Hygiene & dropping out after one semester. That career path was NOT for me.

If I'm going to be the director of the FtW Philharmonic, anyone can join - even if you can only play a kazoo or a triangle!!
Purcussion instruments can be made out of most anything! Hitting beer bottles with a stick makes for a nice effect - especially if they have varying amounts of beer in them. You can make all the notes in the scale! Also, any woodwind players should be able to play most any song by blowing into a beer bottle. See? There's something for everyone!! No one is excluded from MY philharmonic!!

Crocodiles and alligators are surprisingly fast on land. Although they are rapid, they are not agile; so if you ever find yourself chased by one, run in a zigzag line. You'll lose him or her every time.

I see one glaring flaw in your plan for the percussion section, how do you plan on keeping beer in the bottles, and not in the players, they will all be empty! :lmao:

That is also a useful tactic if bullies are throwing rocks at you.

Oh dear, John. Must I explain everything to you? You take EMPTY beer bottles and fill them with water. Why would you let a beer get warm just so you can use it for a percussion instrument??? NO SEAT IN PHILHARMONIC FOR YOU!!! (I am philharmonic nazi!)

A new kitty...so cute. :lovestruc You must post a picture of the little guy from the gathering. Oh...maybe you could put the little guy next to our photo! LOL!
Bob and I both love cats. In fact our little beast (Ojo..the one eyed wonder) has really taken to Bob. Ojo loves him to pieces..and merely tolerates me. He's got major "cat-attitude". He's such a snot.:sad2:
