I truly expected to see "I like to f**k a yak!" I was laughing so loud that the poor DH couldn't hear his Star Trek Enterprise. I forwarded the link to him (he's using the laptop in the living room about 16 ft away).... he's now laughing loudly and could care less about Star Trek!!
All I could think about was a Michael Jackson video featuring people on meth!!!

Back when this hardware was installed there was a 6 inch incision on the outside of my right ankle and a 3 inch incision on the inside. The surgeon didn't use a single stitch or staple. He held it together with surgical superglue and tape. Still have some impressive scars.
All right, if you're all gonna start showing x-rays, then I'll wade in and share the one that took the first 5 to 6 out of 12 hours of surgery to remove from Justin. The grey area outlined in a green circle is a cross section of a tumor in his chest that spread down from his neck and was pushing his wind pipe and three arteries to the side. They managed to take this bugger out through a three inch cut at the base of his neck. When I asked the doctor if they had to use specialty tools - he just smiled and said it was like Thanksgiving and just taking the giblets out :rotfl: . They used real stitches, but there is just a discolored line there now.
Gotta love an experienced doctor with a sense of humor.

Also - Seabee, sorry to hear about the nursing and CNA staff problems you've had. The medical profession is not what it used to be. Married to an RN who worked 18 years on a floor and had to leave before she lost her sanity. I've heard her horror stories, the greivances filed for low-staffing issues, got nervous, and will not use small hospitals now.

Ok, I hate it when your "friend" asks about your kids and then doesn't listen. I tried to tell this friend about our harrowing day yesterday at Day Camp. She listened for about 8 seconds, said "Oh" and launched into what she and her kids did yesterday. I sit and listen to about 10 minutes of that. Sorry, but hearing about what her kids had for lunch just didn't do much for me. Is the "it's all about me" syndrome becoming more rampant these days? I have no one here who is willing to listen to me brag about my kids occasionally anymore. Can it be all about MY kids every once in awhile!!!!? Okay, I'm done.
By the way, during all the tornado activity yesterday at my son's Day Camp, I found out one of the other kids got his head sliced open by an awning that came loose. It's one of those baseball field awnings that are probably 40 feet across and have 3" grommets on them. Ambulance took him away. I'm wondering how many kids won't be back at camp today. I sent Sam on his way this morning. They've moved it inside to a church for today. Anticipating more bad weather.
Never heard of this before, but 5 people have told me to dunk my phone in rice for a day or so to dry it out. That's just wierd, but I did it.

I've learned the hard way that this kind of stuff is much harder on me as a parent than it is on the kid. Jacob had to have major dental work done after the adoption that required outpatient surgery and it was 2 hours of pure **** for me. It's supposed to absorb the moisture out of the battery, but it doesn't always work. DH tried it twice in a matter of 6 weeks this winter - once when he decided to use his phone as fish bait while ice fishing, and when that didn't work he decided to test the theory again when he gave the snowmobile a last-minute bath in the lake. Some people just never learn :lmao:

How about this one: This maybe an easy one.
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Got A's and B's in everything else, but let math slip to a 10 three weeks before school ended. He got his grade up to a 67 this week, and his grades won't post as final until he get's through his tutoring.
He's been pretty active, combined with the other two little one's and I've only had a few minutes per day to log in here!

I determined today that I have a leak the main water line between the house and the meter. This is gonna be really fun since I am gonna have to dig in the middle of the lake it is forming in my front yard. :boat: Hopefully it is not under my driveway, that would be a real bummer. The water line parallels the driveway for a little ways then turn under it to go to the meter. I think it may be right at the edge, at least that's where I'll start digging. Sheesh.

Start at the highest point in the water in your yard. The leak should be close by because water runs down hill. If your whole yard is a lake then dig a grid of holes in the wet area. Then pump them out with a sump pump which ever one fills back up quicker is closer to the leak. :thumbsup2 Have fun I do this every day let me know how it goes.

The highest point in the yard is right about where the yard and driveway meet, which is why I planned starting there. I'm just hoping it's not under the driveway, or at least not so far that I have to bust up my driveway.

If you have a nice concrete drive way don't bust it up. Reroute. Or run a new line under them driveway. You can make a water pick with a metal piece of pipe the length you need to get to the other side.(make one end of the pipe sharp) Then attach a water hose to the other end of the pipe. We have used this method before when we could not get our boring machine to fit in the area.

Well I finally found the leak in my service line coming from the street. Just as it was getting dark of course, so the water is off for another night. Of course it also happen to be in the last place I decided to dig, on the opposite side of the driveway from where I thought it would be. Luckily it is accessible right at the edge of my driveway. I had almost resigned myself to replacing the entire 40' of line since almost every inch of it runs under the driveway. I also decided that I was getting nowhere fast with the manual shovel and rented a Bobcat mini-excavator. Insert Tim Allen like grunting noises here. You can really tear up your yard fast with one of these. Hopefully the storms that are on their way now will be gone by morning.

I know this advice comes a little late Mike, but, there are companies that you can hire to find leaks. I had to use one once when one of the pipes under my foundation leaked. It was pricey...$350.00... but they zeroed it down in about 10 minutes. Then I had a plumber come to bust up the slab, fix the leak, patch it, & done. All total, it came to around $800-900. But that sure beat having a sink hole under my house! All this was due to a direct lightning strike to my house (other damage too, but it was all electrical in nature). Apparantly, the wire mesh or rebar conducted some of the strike and blew a hole in the PVC. Weird, huh?
The leak finder guy told me we were lucky to have "heard" water flowing just a few days after the strike. I guess most people don't hear any water flowing and don't know they have a problem until some of their foundation caves in!! YIKES!!!

Well, we had the best time last night.!! The Elvis tribute concert was so much fun!! Ronnie McDowell is really talented, and on some songs if you close your eyes, you really think it is Elvis!! He also seems to be really respectful of Elvis and the fine folks that worked with him that he has guest starring. He closed the evening with Trilogy as a tribute to the vets and it was amazing!!!
(Not sure I would have bought tickets, but as I said our company bought a sponsorship for the charity, and gave the tickets away.)

Okay,,,,okay. Time for more "true confessions"!!! Originally, I was going to purchase the "Mickey Gnome" and do candid shots at FtW with him... but that gig has already been done by Travelocity.
So... combining my love for all creatures great and small, my insane love for FtW, and with YOU GUYS turning my original otter thread of August 2007 into this bazaar ever-growing monster, I thought "Why Not An Otter" to do the little FtW/WDW T.R's???
Hence... Wynottah Ottah was born!!!
Now you know the rest of the story!!:lmao:

Hi everyone :)
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. We were *supposed* to be camping this weekend, but my daughters softball tournament was rescheduled and now they are playing THIS weekend, so I had to cancel camping :(
The won their first game last night though (it's a double elimination) and we play again today and probably tomorrow too. One oldest DD was picked for the All Star game and she is really excited about it. We seem to be a softball/baseball family. My son is in coach pitch and made a great catch at 3rd base today to end the game :cool1:
In other news...the *bat guy* came out yesterday and it seems the dead bat we found shortly after moving in probably starved to death because it couldn't get out of the house. The bat guy had just been here a few days before we moved in and plugged up where he thought they were getting in. We can't see it from the loft because there is a huge log beam that runs the length of the whole roof line. So our dead bat is most likely the one we heard a couple of evenings and was responsible for the bat droppings. We haven't seen anymore inside since then.
Today is my 17th wedding anniversary  I can NOT believe it's been that long !! I'm only 35 and I've been with my hubby now for 20 years total. I first met him in choir class wayyyyy back in 9th grade. A fact which REALLY freaks me out now that we have a daughter going into 9th grade this fall :scared1:
So anyway, we are going to a fondue restaurant with the kids for dinner tonight after their game. I know some people would say leave the kids at home...but they've always wanted to go to this place and I would feel guilty going there for the 3rd time and they've never been once. I don't mind sharing our special day with them....as long as they aren't arguing with each other all evening !!

We did, thanks:) Dinner was VERY good. The kids really enjoyed the meal, especially our oldest. She loved trying all of the different combinations with the meats/veggies and sauces. She is an adventurous eater and willing to try anything at least once. We all agreed the chocolate course was our favorite though ;)
The girls lost their softball game today, as expected. But the team we played is the #1 team and is undefeated. They usually mercy the other teams..but they only beat us by 2 runs !! So tomorrow is day 3 of the tournament and if we lose tomorrow we are done. BUT if we win we go on to play in the championship game.

I'm so sorry to hear this.:worried: Sounds extremely painful. My sister broke her knee cap last year in a fall on her front steps. Lots of x-rays..and wait and see...she was in two different types of braces for a while. Seems to be okay now, but frankly it took a while, and surgery was also an option if things didn't heal. Personally, I think that's something she will face eventually. Hope Gina heals quickly. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sooooo sorry to hear about Gina!! OUCH!!
I agree that workman's comp needs to be notified and MAKE SURE HER INJURY IS DOCUMENTED BY SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY at her place of work.
I can't tell you how many times as a union steward I insisted that fellow workers file accident reports - no matter how "slight" the injury appeared to be. Most of them came to nothing, but some did. If the accident reports hadn't been filed, some of my co-workers would have gone without some pay, and would had to have paid some medical expenses out of pocket. They also would have been harrassed by management for taking sick time or time off for Dr visits.

On level asphalt one person can push it around. Two people can push it on most any surface. It is less than 2000 lbs. If there is room, a lot of times I turn it sideways in a campsite.
I've looked at TADAs and we might eventually get one. I need to get DH down to the dealer to see if he can fit in the bathroom and if he can lay down on the bed. The way the aisle and the bed meet is pretty narrow. Plus, even though my truck could handle it, I would want a V8 to tow one.

Thanks Deb......she work's at Harrahs Casino, so everything was documented, everything is on video surveillence and Im confident that they wont give a problem about paying the hospital bills and compensating some of her missed work pay.
The thing is...she slipped in a puddle of condensation that has been slipped on by other employees before(though never this seriously), has been reported and complained about for years and they've never , untill NOW, even put a rubber mat over it or a caution sign. One of Gina's friends called to check on her and told her that NOW THEY FINALLY covered it with a rubber bar mat. Her freind asked a manager "Why did someone have to break a leg before ya'll got around to doing something about it???" Gina said before the paramedics even rolled her out their were several suited guys that she's never seen before asking her tons of questions, and that she was sure they were lawyers for the casino...this is at about 1am. Lawyers on staff and on premises at 1am.....casinos dont take chances. Anyway...we're going to speak to a lawyer since the problem has been reported so many previous times and no ones ever sen fit to rectify it.....she's suffering and in a ton of pain, and the ER doctors told her she can expect some serious surgeries in her near future, and that she'll be packing some hardware in her knee for a long time. Someone SHOULD have to pay for her pain and suffering, why should she just have to sit back and take it when she's done nothing to deserve it.

John- glad to hear the little guy is on the mend.
Actually, we had a fairly good weekend. Maddie would have placed first overall (out of 25 girls) in the backstroke Saturday if she hadn't turned around right before she finished. She had an awesome time and was way ahead of anyone else. The turn at the end disqualified her. It was her first major disappointing crush this year, but DH pulled her out of her funk pretty quickly. She's ready to try again now. Back to 7am swim practices this week. Since the kids are getting so much better, I actually look a little forward to taking them (and I am SOOO not a morning person!)

Really sorry to hear the news, that sounds like a painful injury.
Even more sorry to hear about all the work you'll have to do now!
Nancy was on bedrest for months with our middle child. Justin was around 5 or 6 at the time and used to help out as much as possible. One day while I was at work, I got a call from Nancy. She was sitting in bed reading and heard the washing machine start. You got it, the little bugger was doing the laundry. Filled that sucker full of all kinds of colored clothes, dumped in a gallon of bleach and fired it up. That's one sure way to get a new wardrobe that we could not afford!
Well, hope that Gina's over the injury and pain as soon as is possible.

I've got to say, my MIL is one incedible woman. I just got back from NC last night. We just learned that Scott's grandmother has cancer, so we went to visit and help out. My MIL is taking care of her husband who has been battling cancer himself, plus she lives next door to her aging parents. Now her own mother has cancer as well. She is taking care of 3 ill people, plus 2 houses and all the property that goes with it. She is constantly carting them to the hospital and Dr appointments, making sure their chores are done and they have food to eat.
This woman, in her lifetime, has already lost one husband, an infant son and is now about to be widowed a 2nd time. The piddly yard work and house cleaning we did for her hardly amounts to anything with the burdens she is carrying. Where that woman gets her strength from is beyond me.
I had to write and give her the credit she deserves and ask that some of you might think of her in a prayer or two. She has a long hard road ahead of her. When this is all over, I'm going to insist on a trip to the Fort! She loves camping and has had to give it up lately.

I hate to hear that Ami. I'm sure whatever chores you relieved her of was very noticed. We'll keep you in our prayers.
On another note my aunt who had the heatstroke a couple weeks ago still hasn't found out what is going on. She had an EEG that came back questionable and now they did a MRI on Thursday and her Dr. has yet to call and let her know or have her come in. She has just not been the same since the heat, stroke, seizure or whatever it is that she's had. She's not had anymore but she's having very bad vision problems. Hopefully we'll know more soon. She's only 47 and more like my sis. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that whatever it is can be treated and she'll be fine.

Ami, your MIL sounds like an incredible woman. Other peoples strength amazes me sometimes. It makes me wonder why i complain so much about little things.
Donnie, sorry your aunts not doing any better. Have they checked her for MS? My sister has MS and the blurred vision, loss of strength especially in the heat sounds familiar. Does she have any knumbness in her hands and legs. MS is often misdiagnoised as a stroke.
Donnie,
Many years ago my dad had small strokes that messed up his vision. He had control of one eye at a time, but not both at the same time. He was forced to wear an eye patch and switch the patch to the other eye every few hours. For him there was no real treatment and something that eventually got better with time. He had several of these over the years. I hope your aunt's situation is different and they are able to treat her and not just the symptoms.

Donnie-
I am sorry that your Aunt isn't improving and that they haven't yet nailed down what the problem is. I had two "incidents" exactly one year apart that could have been strokes. I was 45 the first time & 46 the second time. The CAT Scans & MRI's appeared to have been small brain bleeds - but also could have been MS lesions. So...I had the MS testing which included 13 vials of blood being drawn, a cardiac stress test, and a spinal tap. They all sound worse than they actually were. The neurologist I had at that time never came to any conclusions - but did rule out the MS - and said I probably had T.I.A.'s (mini-strokes). Thankfully, I have no residual effects except that when I get really tired, my speech starts to slur like I've been to a MDGG! You'll see what that's like at the FoJGG!! :rotfl2:
I hope the Dr is keeping a close watch on your Aunt. And for heavens sake - - - make sure she's taking charge of her own medical care. I've learned after being on this planet for over a half-century that, MD's don't know everything!! A good Dr, when stymied, will refer you to a specialist.
Now, that being said ---- you're still TOAST!! Otters are my friends! They bring beer to my site that they've stolen from other unsuspecting FtW campers. If you're not nice to them, they WILL steal beer from you and bring it to ME!!!
As far as Rog goes,,, I will defend him with my dying breath!! HE invited me to theme park stalk his family (which really wouldn't be stalking if you're invited). HE provides endless hours of entertainment on the dis-board. HE brought outstanding jambalaya to the MDGG. HE brought and shared Rumplemintz with all of us at the MDGG. HE converted Gina and Co. into tent campers at FtW. And most of all...HE sought out me & Al at FtW when he was there in December.
YOU just threaten to hurt the innocent, sweet, beer stealing, and loving otters. You otter hater, YOU!!! Blech!! YOU sneak over to FtW for lunch and pose as a free-loader when everyone knows I'M the professional free-loader!! YOU call BigDaddyDisney and MsGus names. Oh,,, the inhumanity of it all!!
(Really - I can't wait to meet you at the FoJGG, Donnie! We'll hug, share a beer & relentlessly tease each other all evening!;) )

WOW, Ami! That's an awful lot for one person to bear.
I cared for my mom the last 4 years of her life, and her last 6 months-she was dying from cancer. It's a life-sucking disease which emotionally and physically drains everyone involved. I'm sure what your family did for your MIL was gratefully received. Just seeing all of you was probably the greatest dose of happiness she could have received. When you are in a stressful situation, the smallest kindness shown to you is always a precious gift.
Would there be any way to sneak her & her DH to the Fort, even for just a weekend before DH's time is up? Or perhaps a B&B that would be close enough for them to get to? That would probably be the greatest gift! We took my mom to FtW for a weekend for what turned out to be her last birthday, just 10 months before she died. It was worth every penny - even though we couldn't afford it at the time. (Thank goodness for Visa!)
I'll keep all of you in my prayers. Sometimes, that's the best support you can give! :lovestruc

I see little has changed since I left! Al is still not behaving and Deb is defending people left and right. I pm'ed Rog without reading, so I hope things are going better over in LA. As for me (not that I was missed) I am finally caught up on one thread (this one) and will have to go and take a break. I am reading all of this with sunglasses on. Went to the neurologist today and got some meds for this migraine that just won't leave. I have an MRI tomorrow to make sure that is all it is. John, glad to hear your son is doing better and everyone is doing relatively ok, considering. Why is it that when we have a recession, everything else goes to hell as well? I just don't get it. We leave Friday for 12 days at the fort and I have been able to do not a single thing to get ready yet. The meds the dr gave me are dulling things enough for me to function, so I plan on getting the rv packed tomorrow. Thanks for those who gave me a text to find out if I was dead. I didn't get that job (some person with all this experience thinks she can just jump in front, loser!) so I am going to plan B. I will let you in on plan B when my brain functions a little better. Until then...

Glad to see ya, Jen. Ami posted IIRC on Fri that you were suffering from a migraine and I just figured that you probably didn't even have your computer on all weekend due to the pain. Let's hope the Dr's can find out what's causing them & get the situation corrected. For me, after having braces on my teeth for 4 years (age 32 when I got them), the migraines disappeared. Apparantly, I had a slight case of TMJ which would cause the migranes. Thankfully a simple fix! Let's hope yours is an easy fix, too!
I'm sorry about the job. Let's hope something better comes along!! I'll keep you in my prayers. You just concentrate on getting yourself to FtW!! Can't wait to see you again!

Jim(FtWGuy).....So you're a little limp wristed now....suck it up and take it like a man, and get back to posting all the insanity that we've all come to love you for!!!
Those that I havent mentioned, its not that Im not thinking about you guys...Nicole&Jim, Frank&Denise, MrLisa, BigKSteve, and especially Auntie, and everyone else, cuz I AM!!!!! But this post is getting really long, and I STILL have to complain about the Workmans Comp BS I found out today.
We spoke to a couple of lawyers today, and NOPE, we sure wont be profitting from her pain....all she can get is paid medical bills and lost wages....and only 66.66% of her average REPORTED income at that!!!! They are protected under workmans comp, and as long as they have that insurance....they aint gotta pay anything for pain and suffering, regardless of whether it was due to there incompetence or not. A sista cant catch a break in this world.....she breaks her leg due to their negligence, and instead of being paid for all the pain she has to go through...she gets skanked outta 33.33% of her income.....which in actuality, its closer to something like 60-70% because OF COARSE she hasnt claimed what she actually made, what waitress claims more than 8% of their sales??? So, we're good and screwed!!! I told her to take off the leg brace and lets go to walmart and fall there!!!
Anyway.....in closing, JEN....IM VERY CONCERNED about you.......Ive had a couple of friends who went through a couple of weeks of constant migrains...and had cranial aneurysms shortly afterwards. Im not trying to scare you, and I am sure the docs have already checked for signs of that, but Im honestly gonna speak with the big man about you...not that I have any pull with him, because I dont talk to him nearly enough...but Im gonna send him a wish or two for you, and keep my fingers crossed and knock on some wood and stay out from under ladders incase the prayer doesnt work. Im pulling for ya girl. For now, just keep them shades on...ya look cool wearing your sunglasses indoors at night, Ms Corey Hart!!!:cool2: Besides, you're employment future is so bright....you GOTTA wear shades, girl!!:smokin:

Rog - I'm sitting here reading this in total disbelief!!
Louisiana law must be very different from Fla law regarding negligence in the work-place. One other thought I had is to call OSHA. If that water slick had been reported previously and nothing done about it, that's an OSHA violation. Perhaps if they enter the picture, your outcome might be a little better. If THAT doesn't work, and Harrah's will only give her what Workman's Comp pays, then perhap a call to a local TV station that does segments "for the people" might be in order??? I don't think Harrah's would like that sort of advertising.
I know Gina's not going to get a settlement she could retire off of, but let's at least get her the $$ she could have been earning if she hadn't gotten hurt due to company negligence.
Certainly you must have big "ambulance chasing" lawfirms in your area that are bulldogs when it comes to personal injury???
Also...check into if you "have" to see a workman's comp Dr for Gina's treatment. In Florida, that used to be the case, but a lawsuit against a Phophate Mining company changed all that back in the late 90's. It appeared the W.C. Dr was "bought and paid for" by the mining company, and would tell hurt employees that their injuries were healed enough to allow them to go back to work - even if they weren't. It was a case big enough to get TV coverage.
Unfortunately for you & Gina, YOU are going to have to take the bull by the horns, do a lot of research, and find out for yourselves just what your rights are. Then, when all the dust has settled, move to Tampa and go to work for Hard Rock!!!:yay:

Boy, I got hammered by Rog. Good thing I had my feelings surgically removed many years ago. I just haven't been up to my usual wit and wisdom because I got so busy I haven't had time to pee. I'm thinking with all of the health issues on the board, that maybe we should organize a grand gathering of the FW Walking Wounded. It would be interesting to see everyone camping in one loop with their respective ailments. The issue would be where to park all the wheelchairs, not the golf carts. Disney would probably have to carve out some new rules re. how many wheelchairs are allowed per site.

With all the surgeries, illness and broken appendages on here lately I just thought I would share something positive.
About a year ago, I posted a thread about prayers for a fellow camping family. That family is my DB, DSil and DNephews. My Dsil was just diagnosed for the second time in a year, almost to the day with leukemia. We had to cancel a family trip to the fort to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. Dsil underwent a bone marrow transplant and had some really rough times. We are approaching the year mark again and I have got to say the power of prayer and well wishes from everyone has worked. The doctors say the bone marrow is doing what it is supposed to (it is her sisters). This October we will be taking that trip with my parents, DB and family and DSis and family. We are now in vacation mode and getting all our plans made. Can't wait to take my 2 nephews to the Magic Kingdom for the first time!

Kungaloosh,,,,,,,,,,,, The cure all for all your ailments. I'll try and be a good boy next week when we're at the 4th GG. I'm gonna hire Gatordad to keep an eye on me lol.

I'm not gonna say Kungaloosh cures everything, but it sure puts a dent in it, and if you have enough, you don't care about the stuff it doesn't cure.

I'll bet he has quite the collection of "No Parking on the Grass" warning tickets from Mean Gene!! But I guess that trumps having a laminated picture of Al in your 5'er!!!:rotfl2:

Pfftt!! I have 24 hour security, too! A gate that any vehicle could easily run down, and old guards getting paid $9/hour to sleep on duty. Now THAT's what I call Se-Cur-Ity!!:lmao:

I was with my aunt today when she finally got her call from the Dr. The MRI was normal. Still no word on the seizure and why it happened but at least this part is over and she can finally quit worrying she has tumors or something uncurable. Her mood changed quickly and a lot of stress was taken away. Thanks again for those who gave us their thoughts and prayers.
