Our County is having an ariel spraying for West Nile tonight.
I don't know what's worse...not opening the windows or putting on the AC...or West Nile?. It's hot in this house.

Heck, Jim and I did 350 posts in one afternoon just watching a movie.
Just posting to add to the total. Now, we need one less to reach the limit.

Today DW gets the kids' annoyances!
I'm moonlighting 7-7 today for a manufacturing plant as the on-site nurse. It gets pretty boring, esp on the weekends when there aren't many people working. That is good news, because when it is exciting in here then someone is hurt. The bad news is that 12 hours is a long shift when there isn't much happening.
So instead of the kids annoying me I get to annoy all of you. :cool2:

I'd venture to say the problem is probably all the "help". My husband HATES it when the "mayor" of our block runs down the street to "help" him get the trailer in the driveway. Now, that I think of it, it's probably one of the reasons we went seasonal. He doesn't have to back it in the driveway and while the mayor doesn't know it.. his life was spared.:rotfl:
I've seen that look where I was sure Bob was gonna run the guy over. Ooops..big sloppy mess on the driveway.

Law of the Garbage Truck
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were
driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a
parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes,
skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other
car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just
smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I
asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent
us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now
call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of
disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it
and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage
and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take
over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,
so...Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
(read that line again!)
Have a great, garbage-free day!

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED FROM
LIVING IN ALABAMA
Possums sleep in the middle of
the road with their feet in the air.
There are 5,000 types of snakes
on earth and 4,998 live in Alabama .
There are 10,000 types of
spiders. All 10,000 live in Alabama , plus a couple
no one's seen before.
If it grows, it sticks; if it
crawls, it bites.
Onced and Twiced are words.
It is not a shopping cart; it is
a buggy.
People actually grow and eat
okra.
'Fixinto' is one word.
There is no such thing as
'lunch.' There is only dinner and then supper.
Iced tea is appropriate for all
meals and you start drinking it when you're two. We
do like a little tea with our sugar!
Backwards and forwards means 'I
know everything about yo u.'
DJeet is actually a phrase
meaning 'Did you eat?'
You don't have to wear a watch
because it doesn't matter what time it is. You work
until you're done or it's too dark to see.
You don't PUSH buttons, you MASH
them.
You measure distance in minutes.
You'll probably have to switch
from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the same day.
'Fix' is a verb. Example: 'I'm
fixing to go to the store.'
All the festivals across the
s tate are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain,
insect or animal.
You install security lights on
your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
You carry jumper cables in your
car . . . for your OWN car.
There are only four spices:
salt, pepper, Tabasco and ketchup.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED FROM
LIVING IN ALABAMA
Possums sleep in the middle of
the road with their feet in the air.
There are 5,000 types of snakes
on earth and 4,998 live in Alabama .
There are 10,000 types of
spiders. All 10,000 live in Alabama , plus a couple
no one's seen before.
If it grows, it sticks; if it
crawls, it bites.
Onced and Twiced are words.
It is not a shopping cart; it is
a buggy.
People actually grow and eat
okra.
'Fixinto' is one word.
There is no such thing as
'lunch.' There is only dinner and then supper.
Iced tea is appropriate for all
meals and you start drinking it when you're two. We
do like a little tea with our sugar!
Backwards and forwards means 'I
know everything about yo u.'
DJeet is actually a phrase
meaning 'Did you eat?'
You don't have to wear a watch
because it doesn't matter what time it is. You work
until you're done or it's too dark to see.
You don't PUSH buttons, you MASH
them.
You measure distance in minutes.
You'll probably have to switch
from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the same day.
'Fix' is a verb. Example: 'I'm
fixing to go to the store.'
All the festivals across the
s tate are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain,
insect or animal.
You install security lights on
your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
You carry jumper cables in your
car . . . for your OWN car.
There are only four spices:
salt, pepper, Tabasco and ketchup.

You aren't refering to my "Ojo" the wonder eyed wonder. Killer of all birds who dare to chirp or fly in the neighborhood? Who just happened to fall out of my daughters car in front of the house... Ojo...has his "eye" (quite literally  ) on a neighbors VERY expensive bird that they let hang out in the yard. I see a law suit in my future, and feathers in Ojo's mouth.:sad2:

Thanks, Phyllis!! This darned thing has settled in my chest now & when that happens, it's there for awhile.
Wouldn't it be cool to be a concierge at FtW? The biggest thing that would hold me back would be not being given the power to make everybody happy! You know...adequate compensations, free stuff, etc. Like all businesses, the front line person only carries so much weight before you have to refer up to a manager. A little PR goes a long way with people and the bottom line isn't all there is to business. Ya gotta prepare for the future!
Now that WDW is feeling the sting from the economy, I wonder if they will re-institute the Winter Settler's rates at FtW, or go back to pricing sites as they used to. Remember not so long ago if the price for your site the day of check-in was say...$42.00/nite, you paid that rate for your entire ressie no matter how high the price went up during your stay. You didn't have to hassle with higher weekend rates or holiday rates. That would be nice.
Now, as far as Winter Settler rates, I know a gob of people who will never winter at FtW again due to the fact they did abolish these prices. These people were loyal to Disney during their "down" years & when business picked up & they no longer extended these rates, the "regulars" felt very betrayed - to the point of selling their stock and not buying AP's or even setting foot on Disney property. While I know this probably didn't impact FtW that much, the generational trickle-down and word of mouth to friends and family could hurt them. A little "special treatment" to repeat customers can go a long, long way.
BTW....I can't wait for next Saturday!!

We're looking at a local KOA in October, they have Fall/Haloween weekends every year. At least I should get 2 trips yet this season. :cool1:

I'm actually taking it to the next town over. I think at one point I might even get above 25 mph driving over there. Probably spend more time doing and undoing the hitch than actually towing it.

I'm disgusted..I saw Christmas decorations in Sears yesterday. I mean what is it ....the third day of fall? Considering that I'm still in denial about summer ending, I find this especially irritating. I'm glad I'm going to Florida Saturday..gives me another week of "summer"! LOL
I'm curious. You southerners, forgive my northern ignorance, but do your stores keep summer/spring type apparel in stock all year, as opposed to the seasonal winter wear we have in our stores already here in the North. In fact..they had it in the stores back the end of July. (talk about rushing the seasons) :sad2:

Nope, even down here in the South, summer wear is gone. I was trying to buy another pair of cargo shorts a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find any at Wal-Mart.

I thought they would sell warm weather clothes all year round too. When we were there over Thanksgiving a few years ago we needed a swimsuit for my son and some shorts for the girls and couldn't find any up here. I figured it was Orlando and they would sell that stuff down there. WRONG :sad2: They had the SAME THING in their local Target/Kohl's stores that we had up here. AAMOF when we went that week we were in t-shirts and capri's enjoying the upper 60's, lower 70's degree weather and the local people were in jeans, sweatshirts and even jackets !! :lmao:

There are no true Floridians left other than my family and maybe a few more so they stock the winter crap for the northern transplants who get cold when the temperature drops to 72 degrees. If it's not below 50 degrees then it is shorts and short sleeve wearing weather for us true Floridians.

I guess it's official..It's Christmas. Was in Kohl's today..same thing..Christmas decorations. Funny thing is I'm looking for left over summer stuff for our trip! LOL! I knew I was kidding myself with that.
Also..just an interesting observation. It would appear that some middle eastern men think it's okay to walk into ladies dressing rooms. While he was demanding that his wife show him what she had tried on...I saw no reason for this guy to keep coming in to the dressing room repeatidly. I have no idea what they were saying to one another, although it was loud and heated. When I exited the dressing room I had every intention of telling the sales woman that there was a man in there..only, she was of middle eastern decent also. I left the store. I think I'm gonna shop on line from now on. Maybe this is a cultural thing..., but I'm pretty sure he could read, he just didn't care.

Things that I have noticed how spoiled I am camping vs being in a hotel:
(I have been in a hotel now 4 nights out of the past 9, so I need to vent)
1) Luggage does not have to be carried a country mile to a room
2) Golf carts can be parked outside your RV
3) People are COURTEOUS and don't clank, roll things, yell, bang silverware, play loud music, run up and down the hall, etc. next to you
4) You can run the A/C in the RV and drown out #3 if someone starts anything listed above, which rarely ever happens
5) You don't get charged a $15.00 resort fee for the internet, water, USA Today, and you don't get told NO! when you ask if can be removed because you brought your own internet because your don't agree to their internet policy because they collect your email for solicitation purposes.
6) You don't get charged $12.00 a day to park at the place you are paying $179.00 a night to stay at.
I like being a spoiled rotten camper. I want my RV back. I don't want to be in this hotel any more. WAAAAAAAAH. Please help me.:sad1:

Does anybody here watch Survivor??
I've just got one question?? What is with the clothes!!!!!!????????
The only thing I can think of is the producers either go through their closets and tell them to pack the following items OR buy them clothes once they get to orientation and make them wear them.
I just can't believe all 18 of them are THAT stupid!!!
I mean really, if I was on that show, I'd be getting myself down to REI (or wherever) and buying the best multipurpose, multiweather clothing I could find. Pants with zipoff legs, water wicking long-sleeved top, and a water wicking tank top, quick drying socks, and a pair of running shoes that were also good water shoes.

I need some good vibes folks....Chris got an email from his former employer asking him to call them at the new corporate office tomorrow. They have been sold twice more since he was let go. Seems they need someone with his expertise to talk to them about coming back to fill a position in e-file programming. We so need this.

I hope this goes through. I have wanted to post our Otter Spotting Experience this summer. They are my favorite animals to watch. I hope we get to see them in 3 weeks when we arrive at the Fort. We'll be looking.

You are excused Pete. Here is the update I got via text about an hour ago...
The phone interview went well with the corporate office and the lady was a little taken back by the fact that she didn't have to explain a lot of things to him. (He had applied for the position that was open for his old job and the corporate lady had to have the dots connected for her, but it was ok, she was cool with it.) She seemed very happy and was going to talk to the head old boss of Chris's today or tomorrow and call him back. So far so good it seems.

I just found out that my little nephew has a rare bone disorder called Kohler Disease. Anybody heard of it? I don't think it's terribly serious, but he may be in a cast when we go to WDW in December. :confused3
