Amanda (32), Mike (48), Pete (41), Rog (40). Gawd!! Ya'll are "youngins"!!! Wait til you hit your 50's! Then you'll realize just how good your 30's and 40's are! Or you could be really ancient like Al... he's in his 60's - but he still thinks he's a kid - both mentally and physically! Al is definitely younger than me, physically!!
Pete - I think I'm going to ask Rick's pain management Dr if this "dissolving procedure" would work on my butt!! :rotfl2:

I watched some of the opening. They spent over 40 billion $ to get this thing ready for the Olympics. I'm pretty sure a billion or so was spent just on the giant TV screen that is the floor of the Birds Nest. I have never seen such precision before ! But I still got to wonder,,was the precision due to pride or fear ? Anyways it was great! :thumbsup2 !

It really was amazing tho. But come on, that big huge tv was cheap, it was in china right, if it was here 1 billion, but over there 24.99 LOL

Yeah, that was a real waste of time. I remember when all of our vehicles were called in for painting and came back desert camoflage. I thought "what the heck did they do that for?" That was before desert storm. One thing I'll say for the commies, though. They can maintain order when they occupy a country.

GENEVA (AFP) - A giant inflatable dog turd by American artist Paul McCarthy blew away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum, bringing down a power line and breaking a greenhouse window before it landed again, the museum said Monday.
The art work, titled "Complex S(expletive..)", is the size of a house. The wind carried it 200 metres (yards) from the Paul Klee Centre in Berne before it fell back to Earth in the grounds of a children's home, said museum director Juri Steiner.
The inflatable turd broke the window at the children's home when it blew away on the night of July 31, Steiner said. The art work has a safety system which normally makes it deflate when there is a storm, but this did not work when it blew away.
Steiner said McCarthy had not yet been contacted and the museum was not sure if the piece would be put back on display.

I saw this and thought I'd post it here - pretty funny. Now they will be Apples and Salmon to me too.
In 2003 I was working at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. As part of my training, I had to be taught how to use a pargo (golf cart) and also learn about the bus stations. My trainer was a nice gentleman from Peru and he had a very thick accent. We were driving around on the pargo and he told me that there were two bus stations, one at the front and one in the back of resort by Pioneer Hall. He told the names of the stations were the "Apples" and the "Salmon" (as he pronounced Sal-oh-mon). ...At least, that's what I thought he said. For months I would tell guests to take a purple, red or yellow bus from the "Apples" depot back to the "Salmon" depot. Finally one day a guest told me, "I don't know where the "Apples" place is you're telling me, but I do know where the "Outpost" and the "Settlement" are."
"Apples" = Outpost
"Salmon" = Settlement
I was so embarassed. Hahaha :lmao:

Nothing wrong with that Rog. There will be plenty of time for alone time soon enough.
We ended up taking all 3 kids along on our 15th anniverary cruisetour to Alaska !! We had been saving/dreaming about that trip forever and when it came time to book it we decided to take the kids with us. I couldn't imagine going on a trip of a lifetime like that and NOT take them. AAMOF, my husband also got a cabin for my mom and stepdad. She isn't in the best of health and had always dreamed of going on an Alaskan cruise. So we ended up with 3 staterooms side by side with ours adjoining the kids. We had a wonderful time and ended up with plenty of alone time. :goodvibes

I get this email thing every other week or so from something called the Disney Insider, I thought a few of you guys might find this interesting...
YOUR QUESTION
I was talking with a WW II vet, and he recalls Disney characters used as insignia for squadrons. He wondered if this was something the Disney Studio did for the service or was something done independently of Disney. He fondly recalled some of the training films that were produced by the Studio.
- Michele, 53, Pocasset, MA Submit a Question!
DAVE'S ANSWER
During World War II, Disney designed about 1,200 insignias for military units. The units would request the insignia, and Disney artists would prepare the artwork free of charge to the unit, as one of the company's contributions to the war effort.

Don't knock this as a way to make money. When I was in college, some of my friends and I went to Toronto for the day. We discovered we had spent all of our money and didn't have enough for the toll back. So we put a hat on the sidewalk and sang Mack the Knife. We made enough to get back home. Otherwise, we would have had to become Canadian, I guess.

Don't worry, it probably doesn't exist. We've hit several of these of Craigslist. When you email the seller he will tell you he is in the military, and is being sent to Iraq. He has to sell in a hurry and will give free transport anywhere in the US, and his price is about 1/3 of book value. The catch, all this is being done through a 3rd party, and you have to pay the invoice before laying eyes on the trailer. They all seem to be for that same price.
Your basic scam. By the time you are sure they are bogus they have already cashed the check.
A shame, too. A 30' foot Wildwood is just what I am looking for.

You are supposed to be 16 to be able to compete. Some of the Chinese girls are clearly younger than that !! There are many articles going around right now about the fact that China forged their passports (the only thing they need to prove their age).
Did you also read this story...I think it's so sad...the little girl who was really singing should've had the honor of performing for the world.

Don't ya know that girls in China have no value? No one in that country would even think about the little girl's psyche and how this effected her. Too bad. China has a long way to go in human rights. If anyone gets a chance, they should try and get a copy of Ted Koppel's 4 part segment on China. It's a real eye opener.

Ya know.... you're probably right - and I should know better. When laptop's first came out my DH got scammed by a guy in Orlando. We lost $2300 on that one - at that time $2300 was half the price for a laptop. The Credit Union could not help because the cashier's check was cashed at someplace
similar to an Amscot & due to some obscure law, their hands were tied in trying to get the money back. We turned it over to the FBI & never heard another thing. Live and learn.

Hey Ami....did you go see the movie Mamma Mia ?? I thought it might be something you would go see. I love musicals and we are involved in community theater and I remember reading that you were too. I hadn't seen the show on stage, but my friends and I went to see the movie last weekend. We had a fun time and I loved the music. Maybe not the *best* singing, lol...but it was a fun movie.
Thanks for thinking of me! I love theatre! My cousin, who lives very close NYC, has seen this on Broadway and says it's fabulous on stage. I haven't seen it yet, but it's coming to the local drive-in this weekend so it's on the to-do list!

You know, my mom has been selling on Craigslist a good bit lately and all sorts of people try to scam her. She checks their ip address and finds that its routed through somewhere. I have actually had girls at work accuse me of being gay because I refuse to flirt with them when they start treating me like they treat the customers. When I first started in this business...things were hard....er, DIFFICULT to stay focused...that lasted about 2 months....then it became a regular old job just like any other job. And working in this environment, with all the female drama that comes with the wackos that decide this is the job career they were raised for....has REALLY made me LOVE the ol'lady way more. Its nice to come home and the biggest drama is that none of the kids would listen to her and clean up....thats HEAVEN compared to a night filled with"I lost my car. and my boyfriend beat me up because he found out that I spent all the money on drugs instead of paying rent, and my babies daddy wont let me see the kid...he thinks Im an unfit mother...can you imagine THAT...ME, an UNFIT mother???? Im paying someone to kill him...do you have a gun, Rog? No? Ya wanna buy this one?" Yea....give me complaining about uncleaned rooms anyday!!!!

Yesterday I was looking at some Disney pictures when my dd2 came up and saw a picture of the camper. She started saying "I wanna go camping, I wanna go camping"...then dd3 started up. So I told them they would have to ask daddy when he came home from work. DD2 said "I call him" and reached for my phone. Well daddy folded when his baby called and was begging to go camping! We live a couple of miles from a park on Lake Lanier. We drove over and they had a nice site on the water, so we paid for it and went to get the camper. My dh worked until 10pm last night setting up camp (all because his baby wanted to go camping). So I'm sitting here now, dd2 and dd3 are napping, dh is at work and dd9 is at school. There is a nice breeze coming across the lake and its not too hot at all!

Ugh! That's discusting!!! I don't understand why the cops don't save us taxpayers a little $$ by just shooting these types when they arrest them. Aren't they allowed to do that when a criminal "runs" from them to avoid capture? I'd give them the opportunity to "run" just so one more "oxygen depleter" is removed from the planet. This guy will probably end up on a life sentence using up valuable resources thru many appeal processes & end up going free because he had a mama who was a crack-***** and damaged his psyche when he was a child.

I got a Merrills Maurauders t-shirt I LOVE with a ranger crest (see my avatar) - I've never seen one of those before! God I'm proud of being a Ranger and my CIB & jump wings -tonight we're going to Artpark to see Beauty and the Beast and I'm in the gazebo now listening to ACDC's Whiskey on the Rocks - it's 75 out now and I'm feeling GREAT! Oh I forgot to mention we're going to the Chautauqua Institute this week - great place -we'll see Vince Gill & Bill Cosby - looking forward to that. This is the last week of the season and the topic is Darwin and Evolution - should be interesting. Google Chautauqua to see what it's all about. On Labor Day the youngest comes home for the weekend and there will be lots of beer, wine and clams for all!

Hey Rog-You need to post that riddle from your blog on here. Wonder how many could get it.
YES...the answer IS on the internet, but what fun is it if ya cheat (I cheated...it wasnt fun!)
Smart Enough To Figure This Out?
There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don't give up too quickly.
You CAN figure this out....
1. On a street there are five houses, painted five different colors.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.
THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?
Here are your hints:
1. The Brit lives in a Red house.
2. The Swede keeps Dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks Tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the Left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks Coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears Birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the Center house drinks Milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the First house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives Next to the one who keeps Cats.
11. The man who keeps Horses lives Next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks Beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives Next to the Blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a Neighbor who drinks Water.
EVERY CLUE YOU NEED IS PROVIDED...YOU CAN DO THIS
Take a few minutes, hours, or days, comment here with your answer. Do not comment with any proof of the answer, that would ruin it for everyone else.

Disney Vacation 'Know-It-Alls' Can Apply for 2009 Moms Panel Sept. 8-19
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Disney Parks undertakes its search in September for a group of park-savvy parents to be named the 2009 Walt Disney World Moms Panel, following in the footsteps of the first-ever online Walt Disney World Moms Panel which has been fielding and answering thousands of vacation questions in 2008.
The quest is for 16 parents who pride themselves on being Walt Disney World "know-it-alls" and have an undying passion to share their Disney knowledge with others at www.disneyworldmoms.com. From Sept. 8 through Sept. 19, interested applicants can visit www.disneyworldmoms.com/2009 to apply for the panel. The application process begins with a series of questions and three brief essays -- about their family, why they are a great Walt Disney World vacation planner and their favorite Disney vacationing tip.
"The first-ever Disney Moms Panel has responded to more than 9,000 questions from vacation planners this year. They have offered our guests countless tips to plan a magical vacation at our resort," said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort. "We thank the 2008 panel for their contributions and look forward to working with a new group of parents."
Since the launch of www.disneyworldmoms.com in January 2008, the current 12-person panel has responded to questions covering just about anything from how to sign up for a character dining experience to what items are allowed in the parks.

I will apply for this....but that Mom's Panel thing is a bit of a tender spot for me. Last year in September, I went on a cruise the week they announced this. By the time I got back, they had already received all the applications they could handle and had closed the application process. I was so bummed! You have no idea! Well, I wasn't going to let a silly thing like no applications being accepted at this time stop me, so I wrote an essay....one of the most eloquent I could possibley muster....and overnighted it to WDW mom's panel board, return receipt. Somebody got it. Although I never heard a thing.
I have to say, though...that not getting on the Mom's panel is precisely what prompted me to find the Dis! I couldn't be happier with that!

I just looked up my letter. It does sound maybe a little fanatical.....maybe I scared them and that's why they didn't write back:lmao:
If anybody's interested, here is what I wrote: (yes...it's loooooong!)
Dear Mickey or Minnie *o*,
My excitement at the moment is about to over flow since I discovered the “Mom‘s Panel!” I have been a "stay-at-home" mom for 12 years and a Disney enthusiast all my life! My excitement subsided for only a day when I realized that applications were no longer being accepted. How did I miss that? However, being a determined mom who will not take “no” for an answer, I decided to find a way to get discovered! Read on ~you will not be sorry.
I caught the Disney fever as a child. I remember when Walt Disney World was new and Magic Kingdom was the whole world. You could stay at the Polynesian, Contemporary, or Fort Wilderness and see Cinderella's Castle in the most beautiful horizon ever made by human hands! The monorail was magical in and of itself and you were the luckiest kid in the world if you got to ride up front with the driver!
I have a vivid memory of sitting on the dock at the Polynesian Resort and watching the construction of the Grand Floridian, dreaming of the day I would get to stay there. When I finally walked through the entrance and heard the piano music and saw the bird cage and all the sunlight and greenery, I knew I had witnessed something fantastic! It is that attention to detail, that creation of ambiance that keeps me captivated! As a little girl, my dad took me on Disney vacations and they are the best memories I have. I have made it a mission to give my own three daughters those same memories and maybe even make new ones for myself.
I love a good mystery. I love nothing more than to unlock the mystery of what our next vacation will be like. What haven’t we done yet? From taking advantage of extra magic hours, to which restaurants we will try for the first time and which ones we'll enjoy again. To the shows we will see, and the activities we will do, and where we will meet Mickey himself! I always start by choosing a Disney World Resort. I love them all! I am a little partial to the Polynesian and Fort Wilderness, I admit, but each one is spectacular! There is one for every mood, every passion, every idea of the perfect vacation! When I book that Resort, it feels as if my vacation has already begun. Each trip is full of new life experiences that Disney seems to so effortlessly provide.
I am hungry for knowledge! I read everything I can on Disney. I research and try to stay on top of what is new or changing. I pay attention to the specials they offer and the events that they host. I simply can't get enough of that magic!
Well, I love to plan trips so much, that I started helping my friends when they took trips to Disney. I gave them tips and tricks and told them about "not-to-miss" stops along the way. I shared with them how to find all the hidden magic at their resorts and some lesser known activities they might enjoy. Word spread, and all of a sudden I am getting contacted by utter strangers who say, "I heard from 'so and so' that you are the keeper of the Disney secrets! Would you help me with my vacation?" I have helped with trips based on the experience they would like to have, trips on a budget, trips on no budget, trips for families, Grand Gatherings and couples. I LOVE doing this!
Please write back and tell me what my next step should be. I will be dedicated to this panel and an asset to it. I have found that my passion for Disney is infectious!
Have a magical day!

My parents think I am so good at trip planning (mainly cruises and Disney) that I should be a travel agent. I am not sure it would be as much fun planning a trip for someone other then me. :lmao:

I am watching the 9 inning replay of the Japan/USA softball game from yesterday online and I have to say I like it much better WITHOUT the commentary. I am biased though.
Looking forward to seeing them play again for the gold medal game!
