The buildings didn't move...so why wouldn't you have figured that one out? When Disney Inn became SoG in 1994, they simply changed the sign out front. No major remodeling was done until 2003. The rooms at the Disney Inn were the same as those at the Poly & CR-Main Building. Just different theming - no bigger or smaller. I've stayed at all 3 resorts. They were all the same "cookie cutter" designs. Just like WL, GF & AKL are all basically the same buildings, just themed differently.
Maybe Kevin would be so kind as to take pictures of his room at the GF and post them when he does his Labor Day trip report. I'd love to see the decor in those rooms. TIA, Kev!
Well, we went back in '92 I believe, and I just never realized that SoG was a renamed Disney Inn...lol. I've never researched SoG much, I thought it was just something new they had built back in the day.

I just don't want people thinking I'm a nice guy. It ruins my tough guy reputation..... They need to know that he eats with his fingers, and wipes his mouth on his sleeve.
You uppity folks with all your sleeves, thinking you're better than everyone else.
(sniff, sniiiiiiff)...WHATS THAT SMELL????????????? I cant believe someone important doesnt recognize that smell

Real men will never admit to liking cats!!! And cats dont mind. Thats what makes cats good people...they couldnt care less what you think of them, and if you dont feed them...they find their own food. We have one cat that only comes home for like a week every 2 or 3 months...what more could a pet owner ask for????

I did lose a one eyed cat recently though....I never felt the need to kick that animal even once.
The tomcat that only comes home for visits every couple months also has only one eye. I have 3 two-eyed cats as well. The oldest one lays against G's broken leg every night like she knows and is protecting it. Kinda weird!!

Rog....you'll never convince me you're anything more than a sentimental wuss even if you won't admit the fact that you're a cat lover!!
Now Donnie?? He tries to be an otter hater...he even contrived this story about otters running rampant and biting every person in sight. But don't be fooled...Donnie LOVES otters & Rog LOVES cats!! (So does Pete - but this is about Rog & Donnie - and no one else)

He REALLY is as arrogant and disconnected from reality as you've all said. Ya wont see me defend him again!!!
Seriously, does anyone know who Rog was talking about here? He posted that right after a post of mine a few pages ago, he's ignored my question, and I even PMed him and he ignored me. I really hope that wasn't directed towards me :/

I learned 2 things today.
1. when you don't use a can of whip cream for a while it gets a crusty end and sprays out the slits on the sides all over you and the kitchen.
2. there is a water guide thingy on the ice maker that if it breaks it sprays water all over the freezer during the night leaving icicles all over it.
I hope I don't learn anything else today.

I just noticed some post "Squirrel vs Crockpot" in my subscribed threads, and my post wishing them a good trip had now moved to THAT thread. In fact, half of the threads from the original person posting about their trip were now part of the "Squirrel vs Crockpot" thread, which was an entirely different thread.

Howdy all!! Whew, what a crazy couple of days. We had somebody at work (one of my backups) quit over the weekend in a huff and my other backup has been out most of the last month with her terminal mother and was finally back at work yesterday.
So I've spent all day yesterday catching up my coworker, catching up with my boss who was only in town yesterday, and today trying to bring another person from a different part of the company who was brought in to cover at the last minute up to speed.
Then I also had to make sure all the paperwork on my time off was taken care of.
Then had to have an "official interview" with personnel cause of some of the comments made in the exiting employees resignation letter.
As much as I hate leaving the work that's going on to to others, I am SOOOO ready to be away from that place till AFTER LABOR DAY!!!:cool1: :cool1:
Now, I'm going to have a 2nd helping of dinner, as I've only got 3 more hours to eat :-)

What is the matter with all these people and their emergencies:confused3 ..don't they know the ball game is on, and you're on the Dis!

Good luck Carol! Can't wait till you come back and tell us everything went great!
Shannone, living in a log home is fun, wait until one of the logs "checks" in the middle of the night. They pop so loud you swear that a bomb went off! When my wife and I first got married, a log right above the headboard of our bed popped one night, and I swear she was half way down the hall before I could tell her what it was. Loggies are fun when the weather changes temp a lot real fast, they creak and pop.
The DC power port on my laptop broke, so I am on the desktop and it is a dinosaur, so this really sucks.

What's all the excitement about with birthdays? I prefer to celebrate conception day. It marks the beginning of 9 months of the best time of our lives - nice, warm, dark, peaceful. You can pee and poop wherever you happen to be. Just floating around in your amniotic environment. Then comes birth - forced out into the cold, cruel world with bright lights and a bunch of people wearing masks and talking a strange language all around you. From that point on, everyone is trying to change you - you eat when someone wants you to, you have to learn to poop in a cold, porcelain chair at acceptable times, you are forced to learn the language so you can communicate and go to school. Then the work force - forget about that. No thanks, I'll celebrate conception day and the best 9 months of my life. No wonder some kids go past term.

KANSAS CITY—Royals shortstop Tony Peña Jr. expressed his long-held grievances Wednesday concerning the unfairness and injustice involved in not having a base of his own to cover. "It's not fair. Why does every infielder get a base but me?" said Peña, who has received two warnings from umpires in recent games to stop bringing out his own base to shortstop. "[First baseman Mark] Teahen gets to stand right on his very own base all day. And [catcher John] Buck gets to wear all that cool equipment and hang out by the most important base of them all. I'm stuck in no man's land, just throwing the ball to everyone else. This sucks." Second baseman Mark Grudzielanek later met with Peña to discuss a compromise in which both players would stand approximately the same distance from second

HATTIESBURG, MS—Quarterback Brett Favre responded Saturday to the question of whether or not he had any football left in him by announcing that he would return for at least one more season at a major college program. "I'd like to win one more championship before I retire for good, and Southern Miss, Tennessee, and Florida all have talented young squads that could make a real run to number one next year," said Favre, who has been recruited by several top programs but will wait until after Signing Day to commit to a school. "I know I still have a ways to go with my decision-making, but I know I'd be the kind of quarterback that could grow along with a program." Although scouts from several Division I teams are interested in Favre, they noted that he played an option scheme in high school and seemed noncommittal about maintaining the required 2.25 GPA.

The DH and I are going to the fort at the end of this month. We are only staying for a couple of nights and even though I know it is not camping we are staying in the cabins. I quess that a couple of days at the fort is better than none, but we are going to the fort in November and should have our trailer by then.

We are headed out this morning for a week camping with friends. We usually let the girls take turns bringing a friend along. My middle daughter (12) and her BFF have been talking for months about the trip and are soooo excited. We are pitching a tent next to the motorhome for them so they have their own private space.
This morning the friend is dropped off and her mom informs us that her husband didn't realize they were sleeping in a tent and she isn't allowed to sleep outside. He is paranoid about his little girl. So the only way she can come is if she sleeps on the floor inside the MH.
Now I can understand a father being protective. We don't let the girls sleep out in the tent alone and we would never set it up somewhere where we felt unsafe. But the fact that they drop this on us an hour before we are leaving is upsetting. We have the tent/air mattresses all loaded and ready to go. I would NOT have let her invite a friend for a whole week knowing that we had to rearrange all of our sleeping spaces. So there will now be 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs sleeping inside the 36 ft MH. We CAN make it work, but it is a big inconvienance and I am annoyed to have this dropped on me last minute.

I would have said how sorry I was that wasn't going to work out. I'm sure the daughter would've pitched a good enough fit that he would've agreed to letting her sleep in a tent. That IMO was pretty rude of him to do.

They are obviously not camping people! It's not like she was going to be in a tent, all by herself! Are they afraid somebody's going to come in the middle of the night and kidnap both the kids at once?
And, really, if somebody wanted to do harm, is a MH that much safer than a tent? If someone REALLY wanted to break in, they could very easily.
Could you offer to let one of the dogs sleep in the tent with them? We always had our dog sleep in our son's tent at night, so he wouldn't be alone.

I knew my fellow campers would understand :goodvibes Many people call me overprotective too and I'd rather be safe than sorry in most cases. But I just think this could've been handled differently.
My 14 yr old dd offered to sleep in my 12 yr old dd's bunk so that the 12 yr old and her BFF can have the pull out couch We set up the tent anyway and it will serve as a changing room/storage space if nothing else.
It is HOT here !! And my first impressions of Mohican Adventures is not all that great. Our site is bumpy gravel and pretty narrow. The firepit is right next to the road and there is a big electrical box at the back of the site. We will make the best of it though as we do when life throws these curves at us.
Maybe after a couple of hours in the pool everything will look better !! :thumbsup2 If not it will be a long 8 nights !!

Tell Al I said "Hi!"
I got a text from VACAMPER in Gaitlinburg saying she was sitting in a hot tub looking at mountains {sigh} sounds like she is having fun!
I have always enjoyed a hot tub till someone called it "human stew" :scared: and pointed out the "germ factor":scared: . Thanks John. Guess I'll bring my own chlorine tablets from now on. :rolleyes1

I am ready to go home !! LOL.
High today is going to be around 90 and it is VERY humid !! The kids are all whining about the heat. The indoor pool is fairly small and the chlorine smell was killing us last night. The kids have to be 16 to go up there alone and I am not going to sit up there with them all day. My eyes were burning last night after an hour !! I told them they have to suck it up...the heat isn't going away. They can go bike riding, to the 3 playgrounds, hiking, hang out with their friends, etc. I will take them to the pool this afternoon for awhile.
Thursday morning (day before we left) my 7 yr old son woke us up at 5:30am because he threw up in his bed. Ewww. Had to completely wash everything and didn't get much sleep after that. He said he was better, but continued getting sick now and then all afternoon. Never had a fever or felt bad. By that night he ate a normal dinner and has been fine ever since.
Now we are at the campground and my oldest 14DD woke up throwing up this morning. Great  She does NOT handle being sick well and has been moaning and groaning LOUDLY all morning. She has an upset stomach and cramps. No fever. Not fun to be trapped in a motorhome with 6 people and someone who is in the bathroom every 10 minutes.
The other three families are all checking in about 5:00 and I am hoping this is as short lived in her as it was for my son so we can all enjoy our week together.

LOL - we call it "people soup". We never go into public hot tubs (resorts or cruise ships), but if they're smaller, and not used by as many people, I don't mind as much.

Sounds like an "interesting" camping trip Shannone. Those classic buses look cool.
As far as a hot tub, I think any kind of tub would feel good right now, but I can't for awhile.

I think we have 2 useless chit chat threads now. I think I should put this in this one.....:confused3
I have a parenting question.
Do I coddle my children too much??????? Actually, that's not a real question, I already know the answer. Anyway...
My oldest DD is on a mission trip. She really doesn't like being away from home and only has a few friends that she will actually sleep over with. This trip is a week long, but it is local. I thought it would be a good way for her to give of herself, have the experience, but still be close to mom and dad. Plus, I sing for them on Thursday, Scott cooks for them on Friday. I did a hike with them on Sunday. Monday night I went and picked her up so she could sleep at home. Last night I slept out there with her (on a concrete floor~now that was restfull!), with the "deal" that she would tough it out the rest of the week. Well, she isn't feeling so tough and really wants to be done with the whole thing. I think she is working WAY more than she expected.
I really want her to be bold here, but I also don't want to turn her off to public service by forcing the issue either! I think this will be good for her. Teach her to stand on her own feet and know that life isn't always cushy.
What should I do???????

She needs to come up and do this one! Despite Meija's issues, it really is a wonderful experience for the kids! I always tell my DD that she needs to finish out her commitment, and if she doesn't ever want to do it again that is fine. But she needs to finish what she started. It is hard, I always feel bad making her do something she doesn't want to, and is nervous about. It really pulls at the heartstrings, but you gotta stay strong. You are doing the best thing for her because she is learning to keep her word. If you allow her to back out, she will back out of everything when it is hard, or not as enjoyable. Hang in there Ami, the end of the week is in sight. Besides, just keep reminding her that she will see you through out the week. She will be ok, and like you said, may actually enjoy herself by the end of the week. Good luck!!

Actually, I will be working-I'm photographing a wedding up there, but we are bringing the camper and thought we would make a trip out of it. It's a nice area, nothing to do but relax and fish. There may be something in the Jefferson National Forest....I'm not certain. There is also the New River Junction Campground that is about 13 miles from it. My yards the nicest though :goodvibes

It's in Pembroke, VA. Cute little town!
Awesome pics!!! First thing I would do is jump off that cliff but then again it looks kinda shallow:cool1: then take my cart down that trial.
It does look shallow...but looks can be deceiving! Under the falls is a ledge and then a drop off....I don't know of anyone who has actually reached the bottom!
As I was walking back after our swim, I was thinking a golf cart or 4 wheeler would be nice (one of the trails could handle a cart)! It would at least hush my kids about their blisters!

Ami... let her go & back off on the texting.
Most kids HATE camp of any kind the first day or two. By the end of the week, they are crying and sobbing all over each other because they don't want to go home. I'm sure you're DD will be the same way.
Remember,,,, this is the same baby who, as an infant, had your complete and undivided attention. Everytime she even "coo-ed", you RAN because you just knew something was wrong.
By the time baby #2 & 3 came along, you knew better. You ran only when you sensed blood might be involved or they were too quiet! (LOL)
This is the same play, but just a different theater. (Like the analogy?)
Hang tough, Mom!!!
