OK, it's time to get started on this report. We have been back from our magical trip for just over one week and we are now back to reality, and work, though the excitement doesn't end here, we are having a Luau party at home next month to celebrate with family and friends, so I have plenty of new "projects" to work on!!!!!!!!!!

I did start a thread last year after our engagement and once our wedding was booked, but then hit a "hitch". I was scared to post anything I had made or planned to do as I didnt want it to spoil the surprises should the rest of the wedding party read it. So I think the best way to start now is to give a quick rundown of my plans. Let me just say that the wedding day was everything we hoped it would be, and more. If I had to plan everything again there is nothing I would change. The hitches along the way were minor ones and yes there were a few stressful moments BUT the sun shone, the Gods looked down on us and we had the most perfect start to married life anyone could wish for...........

THE WEDDING PARTY
The Bride, me, 45
The Groom, Iain, 41
Father of the Groom, Derek
Best Man, Ade, Iains ( and now mine! ) Brother in Law
Matron of Honor, Mel, Iains sister
Flower girl, Maddie, 4 , our daughter
Little little flower girl, Ellen, 19 months, Mel & Ade's daughter
Page boy, Lewis, 4, Mel & Ade's son

THE WEDDING
12 o clock, Sea Breeze Point, Disney's Boardwalk resort
8th may 2008
reception at The Chefs Domaine, Citrico's, Disney's Grand Floridian resort
followed by wishes cruise aboard the Grand 1

Officiated by; Rev Jack Day - A good choice and a lovely man.

Photographer; The wonderful Randy Chapman, our photos are out of this world and by the end of day he felt like a friend! There will be more words of praise when I post my photos!

Hair and makeup: Anna, makeovermajic, This Lady is a real star, my hair was much better than the trial I had at home and I loved my makeup. She arrived to the minute we arranged and made the whole experience of getting ready fun and relaxing. I would recommend her to everyone.

Brides spa day; the Mandara spa, Dolphin resort. Expensive, but enjoyable and the end results were good, my pedi still looks good even now.

Dress steaming, Carolyn allans - Ok, but when I phoned to see if I could
change my appointment time, they had no record of my original appointment, even though I had the conformation email in my hand!!!!!!!!. Also, I did find a small snag on my dress as I was about to put it on and had to get the needle and thread out quickly ( no mean feat with acrylic nails ) This may or may not have happened during it's steaming, but I certainly hadn't noticed it before.

These went out just after christmas. A fair bit of work went into them, but at least we only had to send out two!!!!!
The label on the front of the box says "caution this invitation contains pixie dust( well it is a Disney wedding) " and I sprinkled star shaped confetti into the box. The invitations were decorated with gold wire hearts I made from what was left over after making my tiara. Under the invitation, wrapped in tissue were all the information sheets about the parks and the boardwalk and Vero beach resorts together with a few extra stickers and a disney luggage tag.

My Tiara
Iv'e posted this before as I was so pleased with how it turned out. I've never made anything like this and my hands were sore for days afterwards, but it was worth it as it fit my colour scheme exactly and I even managed to include my "something blue" in the form of a hidden Mickey!

Can't wait for more details! I was debating the Mandara spa for my "get ready" spa mani/pedi and possibly masssage... any more details would be awesome for me... I'm now at Saratoga Springs Spa because I heard it was newer and better than Grand Floridian, but I saw the Dolphin had a spa now, so who knows!

Welcome packs - I had lots of grand Ideas as to making up baskets, but as it all came down to what I could fit in my suitcases this is what I ended up doing

A white dressing gown for everyone - I ordered the children's ones with their names on from a website and took them in our case, for the adults I got Hollywood tower hotel ones from the TOT shop ( my fave ride EVER ), but the theming was lost on Iains Dad, he actually thought I'd taken them from a hotel we'd stayed at previously!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the dresing gowns came in very handy!

A bottle of Whiskey and extra perk coffee for Iains Dad

Lanyards with a few Disney pins for trading for Maddie and Lewis

Newsletters - these weren't very artistic compared to some that have been posted on this site and are not worthy of a photo:) but they said thank you for coming and listed everthing that we were paying for as a way of saying thank you. I wrote something along the lines of " anything listed here is on us as our way of saying how much we appriciate you comming, we have plans for the rest of our stay here and you are welcome to join us, however if you have other plans thats ok too!"
There was also a run down of the schedule for the wedding day and a little bit about the resorts along with space to use as a planner for anything else( there was a big note on saturday " do not plan anything for this day - tba" as we had arranged for Mel and Ade to have a balloon flight as a present which they wouldn't find out about until the wedding day!)

We planned for a meal at Le cellier the night before the wedding, a spa day for myself and Mel, obviously everything on the wedding day itself and the Luau over at the Polynesian resort a couple of days after the wedding. We were also going to do a "grooms day" with a ride round over at the Richard Petty experience, but called that off as it was really for the benefit of Ade who is a real petrol head, but due to a problem with his retina ( he very nearly didn't make it to the wedding at all ) he wouldnt have been able to ride so we had another park day instead.

more details to come I promise, I can't remember what some of the treatments were called, so I'll look it up then let you know, but I was pleased with everything I had done. I had my brows shaped and face waxed 3 days before the wedding, paid for Iain to have some treatments the day after, then the day before the wedding Mel and I spent the best part of the day there....the only thing was half way in to relaxing, sitting in their lounge drinking iced water, I suddenly realise I have Maddies park pass in my bag IN THE SPA LOCKER and Iain would be over at the Animal Kingdom trying to get in without it!!!!!!!!!. So I spend the entire time having my manicure and pedicure stressing about it. When we get back to the room it turns out Iain realised straight away and got our little starlet to LIE and say she's lost it, so they checked the details and issued her with a new ticket:bitelip:

Many thanks. I'm not sure what the problem is with my photos, I imported them into the kodak gallery and when I wrote the report they were showing. In fact if I am logged into Dis they show for me. Then when I opened a new window, there were just the anoying white squares with red x's, is this what everyone else can see?
I'll get an expert to help me fix this.( AKA my 18 year old son !!!!!!!! )

sorry everyone!

I hope I have ironed out the glitch and the photos now show, although I seem to have another problem, the Photos Randy took are of such good quality the file size is to big to upload to the photo hosting sites, so the only thing I can think of doing is cropping them. If anyone has any better ideas, I would be very grateful!!!!!!!!!

on with the report

MY DRESS - not really a project, more of a work in progress. I found a dress I liked just after we decided to get married, last January, from Monsoon. I phoned them up and asked how long it would be current stock for. I was told " if you want it, then buy it now, because once they're gone we won't be stocking any more"
so, I had to decide what size to buy by guessing how much weight I hoped to lose between then and the wedding. You can imagine how difficult that was, but in the end it paid off. I lost 49 lb and my dress fit!!!:yay:
the last week was a bit scary though because it was hard to stick to low calorie food once we were away. I ended up trying the dress on the night before the wedding just to make sure I could still do the zip up!

here I am happy that my dress fits!

FLOWERGIRL DRESSES - This really was a case of "if you want something doing, do it yourself". I fould a dressmaker through ebay last year. She seemed really friendly and even sent samples of material. She said to wait until this Jan/Feb to send the measurements of the two girls, because of their ages, which seemed sensible. However when I tried to contact her this February, she had disappeared! her email adress wasn't known and she was no longer on ebay. In the meantime, I wrote to her and had a reply from her stating she had "no record of our transaction". When I contacted ebay in a panic, I got a very personal reply, for which I was grateful, telling me that her account was suspended "due to breech of ebay policy" and that they sugest I had no furher contact with her and to contact the police instead. I had little faith in the police doing anything, but within a couple of weeks, I had a phone call from them saying they had visited her and " it was all a misunderstanding".
A couple of days later I received a cheque for the $230 I had paid her. Result! but I still had no dresses. At this point I was very wary of finding another dressmaker and time was running out. Also I had my heart set on the dresses I originally liked. SO I decided to have a go and make them myself. Bear in mind I have had no dressmaking experience since needlework classes at school:laughing:
here is how they turned out

I'm so upset DH and I missed lurking at your wedding too!!! We were trying to get out there to lurk but got caught up in MK. We finally got to SBP and saw a 5 pm wedding on May 8th.

I can't wait to see and read more!!!

Thank you everyone for your kind words about the dresses.

One of the reasons I couldn't find a dressmaker in the time I had left was that most sites only seemed to do similar dresses from age 2 upwards. Ellen is a petite 19 months, so I really had to adapt the patten, in fact I ended up taking my first attempt apart and starting again as the dress swamped her!
We got quite a few nice comments throughout the day on the little dresses, in fact Mel said she could have got me a few orders!!!!!!:rotfl: but, I definately won't be taking up dressmaking for a living! It took me the best part of a week to make each one in all my spare time, the housework got forgotten for 2 weeks:laughing:

I also made "dolly" bags for myself and Mel. Here is a phto of mine, laid out and ready to go! These turned out to be a perfect size, I could even carry my camera - not to the actual ceremony, but I took it when we went to Citricos in the evening.
http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000833m_5fc1d8c.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000833m_5fc1d8c.jpg&srv=img37)

I am kicking myself because I had every intention of taking photos of everything I made, but I realise now that I didn't.
When I was putting presents together for everyone, I managed to find "when I was a bridesmaid" diary /scrapbooks for the two girls, but despite looking on every website possible, I failed to find anything similar for pageboys, so I made one for Lewis from scatch using a blank album and printing each page using the girls ones as ideas. I was so pleased with it, because I could make sure each page was personal, and I included lots of scrapbook supplies for Lewis to use to finish it off. I really wish I'd taken a photo or two.

I bought Deckchair photoframes to use as placenames and decided to personalise each one. Mostly I used dolls house supplies, but I made a mini tiara for mine and thought it a good idea to include something for the little ones that they could play with at the table to keep them entertained ( and when we saw the bottles of wine lined up along the floor in chefs domaine this seemed like an even better idea!:bitelip: )
http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000859m_f615e6e.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000859m_f615e6e.jpg&srv=img27)
here's mine - you can also see a small bucket. This was filled with hersheys kisses and mine and Iain's tag said "a bucketful of kisses for the new mr & mrs" - everyone elses said "from" not "for" this was an idea stolen from another Disbride:rolleyes1
http://img32.picoodle.com/img/img32/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000866m_aa45086.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000866m_aa45086.jpg&srv=img32)
Here's Ade's deckchair. He is a chocoholic, hence the plate of chocolate and cookies. You can also see a little bag in front of his hersheys kisses. There was One of these for everone except myself and Iain and they contained a silver sixpence. Sixpence's were old UK currency and it's thought to be good luck for a bride to carry one with her on her wedding day, which I did.
I also sent one to Iain to take with him. Just because I like things to be "just so" I made sure mine was a 1963 coin ( my year of birth ) and Iains 1966!
I also bought Iain a pair of 1966 sixpence cufflinks as his "wedding present" which I sent along to him the morning of the wedding.
Back to the favors.....in the sixpence bags was a card that read
"something old
something new
something borrowed
something blue
and a silver sixpence in her shoe...
yes she did, he did too,
heres one to bring good luck to you!"

and Iain's Dad's with a sax, which he plays and a little newspaper open on a page with a suduku puzzle that he does every day!
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000864m_53baf58.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/vie[w.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000864m_53baf58.jpg&srv=img26)
This is the one for Lewis with a small remote control Lightning Mcqueen. The control for it was in his goodie bag together with a colouring book and his scrapbook.
Maddie had a tiny Mickey and Minnie on her chair that belonged inside a polly pocket type compact. Again this went in her goodie bag.
Ellen had a princess from the early learning centre, similar to Fisher Price little people, and the rest of the set went in her bag. The Kids bags were a big hit and worked! They were better behaved than they had been all week!

I also made fans with the order of service on them, and then didn't use them!
I had them ready in a bag to take to our coordinator together with photos of both sets of parents ( as both of my parents and Iain's mum are no longer with us, this seemed like a good way of including them without getting anyone tearful) to take to sea breeze point.
I only rememberd the bag when we were halfway down the Boardwalk and it was too late. But in the end it didn't matter and I used them to decorate our room when we went back after the photos and had sandwiches
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000850m_25b6c3e.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000850m_25b6c3e.jpg&srv=img28)

Just a couple of words on our coordinator now I've mentioned her. We were allocated Karen Serrette and she was good at replying to my emails and sorting my music selections, but on the day we were given another Karen. Karen Spelling ( I think ). She was great, really down to earth and made everyone feel at ease. She even brought bubbles and used them to entertain Ellen while Randy took photos of me in the Lobby and took over camcording the ceremony while Ade did his best man bit and handed the rings over!

I also decorated tealight holders for the table with the same flowers I used to make Maddies hair garland. I saw the lanterns last year and they reminded me of sea breeze point a little bit, so I had to have them!
I made Maddies garland because I could find nothing I liked and that fit our colour scheme - which was all based around Disney's "tropical bouquet"
http://http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000835m_e4f5f65.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/4/maddiesmum03/f_1000835m_e4f5f65.jpg&srv=img27)

I think that's all my "projects" except for the presents I put together, but more on them later.

I took most of these projects half made in my suitcase, bought glue and other supplies from Walmart and spent the afternoon my dress steamer came putting it all together. I had one of the flat boxes of the type you put cakes iin along the bottom of my case and when everything was ready to go to citrico's I boxed it all up together with a table plan of where everyone was sitting. We had arranged with Melissa from Citrico's to take this over ahead of time and they would take care of it all....perfectly as it turned out!

Wow - you did a great job on those flower girl dresses! :goodvibes

Also, instead of cropping your pix from Randy, you can change the size of them on the site where you've uploaded them. If you are using Photobucket, you can even change your settings so that photos automatically upload at the size you want. Otherwise, look in your program's editing tools for one that says Resize or Crop - usually it offers you sizes like "Message Board" and "Email" or "Web Page" - just set your pictures to "Message Board".... And PM me if this is all too confusing! :thumbsup2

Thank you all again for your kind comments.
wedwdw05 - the dresses may look good in the photos, and I was really pleased with them, but a proper seamstress would probably rip them to shreads!

stackyallred - thank you! I love my Randy photos ( and I don't really like myself in photos! ) and of course I was smiling all day, not just because my dress fit!;)

Lurkyloo - the problem is the site I chose will only accept pics upto 2mb and most of Randys are double that, only then will it resize the photo. I'm currently using picoodle, perhaps I'd be better off choosing a different one. I may end up PM'ing you yet!

ITINERY OF OUR TRIP
April 29th Sofitel, London Gatwick
April 30th BA Flight to Orlando, Limo to Royal Pacific Resort, Universal Studios
May 4th Disneys Boardwalk Villa's
May 8th the wedding!
May 14th Vero beach resort
May 21st, fly home

Originally everyone except Iain's dad was going to travel together and stay the entire trip ( Iains dad did not want to do Universal and joined us once we got to the Boardwalk ) We are DVC members and "paid" for everyones accomodation with this years points( and next years - no disney for us until 2010:( ) , we had a 2 bedroom, plus a studio at BWV and 3 inn rooms at VB. We didn't pay for their travel or the accomodation at Universal, just our own!
Then the day before we were flying out, Ade went for a hospital appointment because he was having trouble with his eye and it turned out to be his Retina, he was refered to a consultant who couldn't see him until the thursday and wasn't allowed to fly in the meantime, so Mel made the desision to fly out with the 2 children without him, not knowing if he would be able to come out and join us or not. Luckily, on thursday he was given the go ahead to fly out and joined us on our last day at Universal. He also had to fly back early for an operation and missed our beach break, but at least he made it for the wedding and we had a best man:yay:

Im not going to write a blow by blow account of our first week, except the highlights and all the wedding related stuff, because then I'll get to the wedding day sooner:)

Heres Maddie and Lewis on the plane, playing nicely together. One of the things we were looking forward to was Maddie having her cousin to play with, but we ended up spending a lot of time trying to keep them apart. I guess thats 4 year olds for you!
http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/6/5/f_1000788m_3f44286.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/5/f_1000788m_3f44286.jpg&srv=img37)

getting a Limo ( happy limo ) from the airport to Universal turned out to be a very good idea, and the driver even did a grocery stop for us - only 20 minutes mind, it was a real trolley dash!. But it meant we didn't have to worry about having a drink on the plane, lugging everything over to Hertz or paying to park at the Royal Pacific when we wouldnt even be needing a car for the first few days - we had sorted our licence by post and it was already safely in the hands of our wedding coordinator.

Universal was as good as always, but I shouldn't really be talking about it here:laughing:
Of course getting to the Boardwalk really made it feel like the wedding was close! Once we got there I was able to get in touch with our vendors and coordinator and let them know our room number ( this is when I was told by Carolyn Allan that no appointment had been made for me:scared1: , but as I wasn't that bothered when the dresses were done it turned out ok. BUT the moral of the story is to check, check and check again everything is how you think it is! )

Thank you for the advice! I haven't heard back from them since I emailed them last... I think I'll email them now and double check.

I'm so upset DH and I missed lurking at your wedding too!!! We were trying to get out there to lurk but got caught up in MK. We finally got to SBP and saw a 5 pm wedding on May 8th.

Nikki

I'm sorry I wasn't able to catch your wedding either, The week just flew by. In fact we hardly saw the parks at all, so much for having an annual pass!
We didnt see the 5pm wedding, only a few of the guests when we got back from Citrico's, but we did get to see them setting up for that wedding, as soon as ours finished. Randy took us over to the beach at the beach club resort for photos and before we made it back past sea breeze point, it had been cleared, ready for action again, even the sign with our names on at the entrance had been changed. Luckily the man clearing it went past in his little trolley at that point and we retrieved our sign!

"grooms day"
Tuesday 6th May
We had planned to pay for everyone who wanted to have a "ride round" at the Richard petty experience ($99 each) but called this off as I said previously, because of Ade's eye situation. We did one of the parks instead, Hollywood studios I think!
I was treating Iain to a pamper session this afternoon over at the Mandara spa. The package was called "Zen and the art of golfing" and consisted of an Elemis Urban facial clense,a deep tissue muscle massage and a sports manicure and pedicure. It lasted around 3 1/2 hours and cost $315. Iain loved it all.
While he was being pampered I finished all the bits and pieces I needed to get ready to take to Citricos and waited on the dress steamer.
That night we had what we called a "crawl around the world", the ultimate in pub crawls at Epcot, starting off with a pint at the Great Britain Pub, the on to Mexico for a Marguerita then.....I can't remember ( perhaps it was more than one marguerita ):bitelip:

The day before the wedding, Wednesday 7th May was officially "brides day"
and I took Mel, my MOH, over to the Mandara spa for our pampering session.
We got there at 8.30 and didnt get back to the hotel until about 2.30 so it was a good long pamper ( not too relaxing though, once I realised I had our daughters park pass in my bag!!!!!!!!!)
We had an exotic frangipani body nourish wrap and massage ( 75mins $220 each) and the ceremony for hands and feet, basically a manicure and pedicure. I ended up not doing the manicure because I needed acrylic nails as I'd picked and nibbled mine into submission!. I don't normally do manicures or pedis so I have no idea whats normally involved, but they seemed to use a lot of products you would normally save for your face which was a bit of a treat.
You have the pedicure first and they are set up to do 3 people at a time which was nice as I sat next to Mel while our feet were being soaked and wrapped in hot towels! Our legs were exfoliated and moisturised from the knees down, not just our feet. I paid $10 extra each to upgrade to french polish and I was really pleased. They then give you little disposable flip flops to wear. ( I hadn't thought about shoes and had wore my sketchers over to the Dolphin - I'm obviously not the only one because they had a selection of flip flops to buy, but we both shuffled back to the boardwalk on our cheapo disposable ones!!!)
As I was having acrylic nails on I missed out on having a moisturising mask on my hands which Mel had but I was really pleased with my new nails. I've never had them done before and it took a while to get used to using them. They lasted a week and I lost one only because we had to do an emergency stop in the car as a cyclist swerved across 2 lanes in front of us and I automatically put my hands up on the dashboard. I am so pleased I had them done, looking back on the closeups of my hands in the photos. Again, I was able to sit next to Mel and chat while we were having our maincures which was good. The ceremony for hands and feet ( 120mins ) cost $120 each plus $20 for french upgrades for both hands and feet. My acrylic nails cost $100.
I would recommend the Mandara spa, it was a nice relaxing atmosphere as long as you can resist the hard sell of products you always get at spas. ( not that I am a spa expert, I have only ever done the ones on cruise ships )

That evening we we eating at Le Cellier, in Canada at Epcot. We have eaten there before, on Iains 40th Birthday and loved it so this was one of the PS's we made at the 180 + 10 mark, just in case! we had a great meal and watched Illuminations afterwards.
I'm aware there's no photos in this bit of the report, I took surprisingly few at the spa:) so here one of Iains dad with his chocolat "moose" at Le Cellier!

http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/4/6/9/maddiesmum03/f_1000818m_af2319e.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/9/maddiesmum03/f_1000818m_af2319e.jpg&srv=img33)

That night Iain was staying with his Dad in his studio rather than in our 2 bedroom. He was a bit miffed at sleeping on a bed settee when there was a king sized bed with our name on it, but tradition won!
Once the kids went to bed I brought out a load of decorations and balloons I had stashed in my case, and Mel, Ade and I decorated our suite.
http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/6/11/maddiesmum03/f_1000887m_ea5fe04.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/11/maddiesmum03/f_1000887m_ea5fe04.jpg&srv=img29)
I then had a long relaxing soak in the tub, put a mask on my face ( and hands because they didnt get pampered earlier at the spa), read our copy of the vows, wrote a letter to Iain:love:, tried on my dress just to make sure it still fit, laid out all the shoes and bits ready and went to bed. I slept surprisingly well.

Next up the wedding day:yay: :yay: :yay:

Thank you again everyone for your lovely comments, without further ado on with the report....

......One thing I forgot to mention about my spa session was that during the frangipani wrap the lady doing it asked if I wanted the oil in my hair as it worked as a really good conditioner especially if it was left on overnight. Well there was no chance of that, but I left it on for the day and shampooed it before we went to le cellier. As both my hairdresser back home and Anna had told me to wash my hair the day before, not the wedding day, this worked out perfectly and my hair felt great.

I slept really well and woke up bright and early. I made myself a cup of coffee and sat on my balcony with a mirror and a pair of tweezers:rotfl: no stray hairs in my wedding photos, thank you!. It was really peaceful as it was about 6.30!
The funny thing was later in the day, Iain told me he was going to do exactly the same thing ( probably not with tweezers! ) but was scared I might see him on his dads balcony even though it was a little bit away from our room.

Anna had arranged to arrive at 9am which gave us plenty of time for breakfast and showers before she arrived. I cant even remember what breakfast was, probably only cereal. Mel and I also made a plate of sandwiches and put them in the fridge for after the ceremony. At some point I sent Ade to give Iain his letter and present, but Iain and his dad had gone awol, it turned out they went for breakfast at the Boardwalk bakery.

At 9.00 there was a knock at the door, talk about prompt! Anna was great and I would recommend her to anyone. She is a lovely lady and made everyone feel at ease. I was delighted with my hair as I had my trial photos from home with me and also a couple of inspiration pictures I pinched off these boards. But although I wanted depth and height, my hair still felt a bit "flat" in my trial and the curls too much like ringlets, the best way to explain it is to post a picture
http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000785m_c1df0af.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000785m_c1df0af.jpg&srv=img29)
http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000787m_bef37fc.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000787m_bef37fc.jpg&srv=img27)
I showed Anna and she said " we can do better than that!" and she did, I can honestly say I felt fantastic. It was almost as if she had read my mind, it was exactly how I wanted it. As for the make up, all I said was that I felt naked without eyeliner, and again she got it just right. The lip colour she choose for me was perfect and she gave me a whole small lipstick for touchups.
Maddie watched all this and I wasn't sure if she would sit still long enough for Anna to do her hair, but she was good as gold!
http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000845m_232b9b5.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000845m_232b9b5.jpg&srv=img33)

Then it was Mel's turn
http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000844m_6a1dd6c.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_1000844m_6a1dd6c.jpg&srv=img27)

There was another knock at the door and it was Randy. Now I hadn't arranged for Randy to come up to the room and get any getting ready photos as we only had the small 3 hour package ( times 2, as we arranged for him to come back and meet us at citricos for GF and wishes shots ) and didn't think there would be time so this was an added bonus.
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI10435808am_f5ff61f.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI10435808am_f5ff61f.jpg&srv=img28)

Soon after this Ade and Lewis disappeared to meet up with Iain and his Dad, and Ade finally managed to pass the bits Ihad for Iain on to him. Randy disappeared too, to take photos of "the boys" down in the Lobby as they had to meet Karen at 11.
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI10575808am_2d51d99.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI10575808am_2d51d99.jpg&srv=img28)
Then it was time to get into our dresses
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/4/6/11/maddiesmum03/f_1000831m_a5409ac.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/11/maddiesmum03/f_1000831m_a5409ac.jpg&srv=img26)
and thats when I noticed the little snag on mine that I'm sure wasnt there when I had it steamed, but I hadn't noticed it when I tried the dress on the night before, so it may have been me, but I still had plenty of time so out came the needle and thread. As I said before ,not the easiest thing to do with my new acrylic nails ( and I also had to get Mel to put my necklace on and do my zip up on the dress and buckle my shoes because of them too!, still thats what MOH's are for isn't it )
Karen phoned to let us know the coast was clear - Iain was determined to get a drink from the ESPN club before the wedding! and we made our way down to the lobby. Of course the workmen had picked the exact same time to paint our corridor, you can imagine how it was trying to keep ourselves and two small people away from the wet paint!
We made it intact!
http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI00965808am_af346b3.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/12/maddiesmum03/f_CI00965808am_af346b3.jpg&srv=img29)
and of course Randy was waiting with Karen to get some shots.
Karen handed out the flowers. We had based our colour scheme around Disney's tropical bouquet and I had explained this to Rosie during our phone call to discuss flowers, bearing in mind just this one conversation and the one photo on the Disney site, I was amazed at how well the colours matched. The calla lilies were a perfect match for Mel's dress and the Girls sashes. The wands we chose for the girls picked out the colours perfectly - I was delighted.
My bouquet

Randy took me outside with Maddie for some shots - and this is how great our co-ordinater Karen was - she entertained Ellen with bubbles while this was going on.

I'm a late joiner to this thread but I have to agree with everyone else that the flower girl dresses are awesome! They're in my colours too, but I don't have any little people to wear them, otherwise I would have been trying to recruit your sewing skills :rotfl:

I love your dress too, it's a gorgeous style.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your report, as we are looking at SBP and the Chef's Domaine for our day :thumbsup2

frdeb1999 - Thank you, but I can't take credit for the good pictures, I think it's pretty obvious which ones are Randy's work - and he should take all the credit!
Randy was wonderful. Just to think if I had never visited these boards I would have made do with Disney's 20 photos!
keenercam - many thanks , I have to admit I was really pleased with the dresses - and my bouquet was stunning, it even had a signature hidden Mickey on the stem. It wasn't too heavy either, I've heard of brides that have said how heavy their flowers were, but those were really easy to hold, a good job really as Randy had us posing for photos for around 2 hours!
meryll83 - Welcome and thank you - You won't be disappointed in either choice, SBP is a perfect location, and I'll write a lot about the Chefs Domaine later, but we would give it an outstanding 10 out of 10, you couldn't fault their service, attention to detail, friendliness and of course the food!

:goodvibes Hiya

Everything looks absolutely fantastic. Your flowergirls dresses are beautiful... I can't believe you managed to make them with absolutely no needlework experience at all... and your tiara is incredible. I can only dream of being so talented!!

Can't wait to read what you thought of The Chefs Domaine. We got married offsite in March, but we had our wedding dinner at The Chefs Domaine and then went on the Grand 1 afterwards, so it will be good to compare. I absolutely LOVED the food at The Chefs Domaine... I have read some very 'hit and miss' reviews about it... but we were incredibly impressed. The staff were SO attentive and really couldn't have done any more for us and isn't Melissa just the best?! I'm still in email contact with her and hope to meet up with her next time we get to Orlando. We were supposed to go for coffee back in March but she was just flat out at work. She went above and beyond what I expected!!

Hurry up and write some more!! :goodvibes

29apr00- thank you. I think the girls are cute, but then I'm slightly biased:)

DigitalLove - It's funny that we both chose Chef's domaine and then had the Grand 1, I was so pleased with our choices, except the stress of booking them both at the 180 + 10 and 90 day mark! Yes, I agree Melissa is wonderful. Her emails were so friendly in the planning stages and I was so pleased we managed to meet her when we took our box of favors over to the GF as she wasn't there on our actual wedding day. We still need to email the powers that be at Disney and feedback how she went that extra mile to ensure everything was perfect for us.

princessdisneybelle - Laura, Hiya! It was great meeting up with you and your lovely Mum, not once but twice if you count our bumping into each other in Starlight Rays. What were the chances of that! I have been meaning to pm you to thank you again for the gifts you gave out at our DIS meet. You are the best:hug: You know your PJ was the one to inspire me to make most of the things I made!

On with the wedding day...................
All of the following Photos are Randy's. This man is wonderfully talented, he is a genuine nice guy and it's easy to relax in his company, which then makes for great photos. I don't like myself in photos most of the time, but there are so many of Randy's shots that I would consider "good of me" it will be very very hard to choose which ones to get enlarged.

Heres Randy's photos of Iain and co on the way to SBP via the ESPN! As I said before, Iain was determined to get a pre wedding drink at his number one bar, but when they got there, after Karen set them all up with their bonbonieres, it was not even open!, not only that, but there was a queue outside. His Dad said there was no way they would pull it off, but when the doors opened at 11.30 everyone else headed for the tables to eat and Iain headed to the bar!

Now Karen had told me to stick to the vertical slats running down the middle of the Boardwalk as the gaps in between these boards were smaller and I was less likely to get my heel trapped. Did I listen?:bitelip: no, I chatted and laughed and said thank you to Random people saying congratulations and veered off the path...........

accountingbabe08 and DisneyFairy19 - thank you!

Ticky Toria 78 - Thank you, I ended up loving my dress too, but it was a close call, perhaps it was because as I was still losing weight, I kept trying it on and it wouldn't even zip up! So I had no real way of knowing what it would look like once it did fit, I just had faith that it would!!!!

Mama of Indybride - Many thanks , I promise more photos of all of us are on their way...

When I got to SBP, Reverend Jack was there to greet me and he had Iains Dad ready to escort me down the aisle. He had Iain positioned so he couldn't see me and he had been told not to turn round!

Heres our sand ceremony. We chose orange and burgundy sand to match our general theme. Karen packed the vase well with paper and it made it all the way home in our case, but the sand is now VERY well mixed!

Thank you - Maddie had SUCH a good time! I know we did things in the wrong order really, but just think, if we had gotten married before we had her, she would have missed one of the best days of her life:)
Yes, Iain did get his drink, though I think it had to go down rather quick!:rotfl:

thank you for your kind words! I promise some more photos as soon as I've uploaded some - after all I have got around 1400 photos from Randy to choose from! and we still have another disk on it's way to us taken at Citrico's. Randy did such a good job getting our album finished 6 days after the wedding so we could collect them from his shop on our way over to Vero Beach, he forgot one of the disks so it's being posted over to us. I can't wait to see it!

I love your photos so far; the reflection one on the boardwalk is fantastic and the shot with the petals is so cute, you can tell you were having such a great time. You can tell that your daughter really took her job seriously, she was so good that day :)

I probably would have gotten my heel stuck too, so I completely understand; I get distracted easily too :goodvibes

Thank you - Randy took a lot of reflection shots that were all good, it was hard to choose just one to post and yes, I love the petals shot too, though MOH had a punnet of paper confetti too which also got thrown. I'm not sure we were surposed to have done that but Karen our co-ordinator said nothing and it made for some good photos!
You know, I was so proud of Maddie, she was so well behaved all day even though she was excited - normally that means a Maddie meltdown :furious:

Thanks Alissa, anyhow the photo is a real closeup, the actual label was quite small, so perhaps thats how I got away with it!

Anyhow on with the report...........

Here's another cake shot. We chose yellow cake with white chocolate mousse filling for the bottom tier and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse for the top tier. We were very specific that they didn't mix the 2 tiers up as there was NO WAY we wanted the three little ones eating chocolate cake in their wedding outfits
http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI05395808am_290cb71.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI05395808am_290cb71.jpg&srv=img33)

Here's one of the few what I would consider "formal" shots. In my email to Randy prior to the wedding I asked for:
- some of Magimus' famous BW shots
- plenty of candid shots of everyone, as all the wedding party were important
- some soft focus shots of me to hide the fact that Im 45!
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI05985808am_d129ff9.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI05985808am_d129ff9.jpg&srv=img26)

Then Randy took us off for some shots of just the two of us.

THIS IS MY ONE PIECE OF VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES
*** DON'T FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN ! ***
Seriously, this is the one thing I forgot about when I was getting ready. We were out in the sun taking photos for at least 1 1/2 hours after the service, and that doesn't include getting to SBP. I didn't feel as if I was burning at the time, but when I get around to posting my firework photos you will see just how "pink" the tops of my arms were.

These ones are on the bridge between BWV and BCV, the one you pass if you are heading to the international gateway
http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI123758080m_16d7875.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/20/maddiesmum03/f_CI123758080m_16d7875.jpg&srv=img29)

Then we went on the beach at BCV. Iain did find these shots hard, as he had chosen to wear plain lenses so his eyes weren't behind sunglasses in our photos, but found it hard not to squint because of the brightness.

And then we headed back to SBP, where everyone else was waiting, and headed back towards BWV. We got lots more shots of just us, but also some good ones of everyone.

I love these next shots. I had thought about doing Surrey bike shots right from the beginning of my plans as I think they sum up the atmosphere of the Boardwalk perfectly. While browsing a card shop back at home, I'd spotted the mock Numberplate and had to have it just in case. I had no idea if the Surrey bike people would let us do this or not, or even if they would be open for buisness at midday, as I know the Boardwalk really comes into it's own at night. Anyhow, Randy thought it was a great idea and he said noone had ever asked him to do these shots before, so I think he had fun with them. He sorted it out with the guys on the surrey bike stand and they held onto the numberplate for us during the ceremony. For everyone's information, they open for buisness at something like 10am, so even 10am brides could do this if they wanted to ( or perhaps we're the only ones silly enough to want to do this! ) We wasn't even charged anything for the "rental" - probably because we didn't actually go anywhere!

Then we headed to the front of the resort for a couple of classic Randy shots. ( and Randy actually printed these two off for us and brought them with him when we met up at Citrico's later, which was really cool )

but on the way through the lobby entrance, we just had to have one taken on my fave seat. Randy said it was a bit weird and made us look like little kids, and that made us laugh, so this is probably the most natural shot of the day!

Thank you Carrie!, I didn't know you liked orange:rolleyes1 . Seriously though, we wanted a "tropical/vacation" theme to our wedding from the very beginning and Iain said straight off he didn't want to wear a suit. The bouquet is disney's standard Island bouquet, not an upgrade, and I loved the colours as they are on the website. I based the whole colour scheme around this bouquet and when Rosie phoned from Disney floral I said "no substitutions please, I want it just the same!" - Funnily enough, I have just looked at the website again and it is almost perfectly a match!
Getting the Tommy Bahama shirts for the men turned out to be a bit of a challenge. Iain's orange one was easier to get, but we ended up driving down to West Palm from Vero last November to pick up the burgundy ones as the colour had been discontinued. Of course getting an alternative was out of the question;)

Not so sure about the so young bit :rotfl: :rotfl: but I do like this shot!

Your pictures are beautiful! What an amazing wedding day you had, I'm looking forward to hearing all about the Grand 1 and seeing more pics!!
Many thanks, we did have an amazing day, from start to finish, I promise the next installment will be soon!
Your pictures are all beautiful! Love the surrey bike shots, what a good idea! My favourite is also the one of Maddie holding the just wed sign. Love your bouquet, the colours look so good together and I really like the personal touches you put on your deck chairs. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures!
Thank you, I love that Maddie shot too :)
I enjoyed putting the deckchairs together too, it was fun choosing something appropriate for everyone! Ours made it back intact. I thinK I may just swap the name for a small photo of us and display them together.
More photos soon, I promise!

I'm sure you got away with it!! :smokin:

I probably wouldn't have seen it (actually, my first time through your tr I didn't see it), but I'm an editor, so it sort of caught my eye. No worries, everything turned out great!! :goodvibes

OMG, I didn't see it either, and I am always catching spelling faux pas, not meaning to, I just see them. :stir: It drives Val, Indy Bride, crazy.

I bet it is that all of our brains are so conditioned to seeing Disney, we see it as Disney regardless of the order of the letters. Sort of like that chain email I get every few months! :goodvibes

But back to the pics, sniffle sniffle, they were so sweet and you looked SO HAPPY! I can just tell you must see the good in everything that happens, it shines right out!

Congratulations!!

I hope these are OK. We haven't got any of just the wand, but you can see both the stem and back, and the front from these photos. When Rosie from Disney floral phoned she said she would do ivory and burgundy wands, with pixie dust, but after I had gone into detail of our colours we mutually agreed the girls were wearing enough ivory, and to pick up on the other colours more. I must say, I loved the way they turned out, especially the criss-cross of the burgundy ribbon on the lime green stems. I have managed to keep Maddies, but the orange rose has lost it's colour now it has dried - still a nice keepsake though! ( I did try to press some of my flowers, but they just went mouldy:worried: and I had to throw them away).

OK, I must admit I'm stalling for time a little bit here......
We are still waiting on one last disk to come through from Randy which has most of the Citrico photos on ( except for the few I took myself ).
Randy did so well to hurry and get everthing ready for us to collect before we left Orlando ( only 6 days after the wedding ) that he forgot to include one of the disks. To start with I thought maybe none of the Citrico's photos had come out, but I should have known better;) Anyhow it's stilL winging it's merry way across the pond! I have seen the photos as they are now up on Randys site, So I know there are some I want to include in this TR, But I'm still inpatient to receive the disk.
Anyway, I'll carry on as much as I can for now.......

Once we said Goodbye to Randy we headed back to our room to meet up with everyone else again. ( Iains Dad, Mel, Ade and the kids were already in the room as we did the last few Randy shots on our own )
The idea had been for us to lay out a bit of a buffet and we were going to open a bottle of Champagne we had bought with us duty free and have a bit of a party before chilling out. However when we got there Iains Dad had already had a sandwich and just about to leave and go back to his own room:confused3. The kids had already eaten too, so we just grabbed a sandwich and didn't bother with the champagne.
I had bought presents from DTD for the children to open, so they wouldn't think the day was too boring for them. I wanted to get nice big boxes, without spending too much:rotfl: So I had ended up getting Disney Princess babies for Maddie, a soft Cinderella doll for Ellen and a test track Mickey set for Lewis.
Here's Maddie and Lewis opening their presents - notice Maddie was back in her dressing gown for this :thumbsup2. The first thing I did was get out of my dress for a bit too, the dressing gowns were a good buy!
http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/4/6/25/maddiesmum03/f_1000853m_3561c76.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/25/maddiesmum03/f_1000853m_3561c76.jpg&srv=img34)

I had also wrapped Disney playing cards ( snap, donkey etc ) and hidden them round the room for the kids to find. After this they just played nicely with the toys we had bought and watched a DVD or two. Ellen went for her nap....and I must admit I went to sit on the bed with a cup of tea and I dozed off for a bit too, with my head propped up so I wouldn't ruin my hair:)
Iain, Mel and Ade sat on the balcony chatting and having a drink and before I knew it, it was time to get ready again and head back down to the lobby as the Limo was picking us up at 5.15.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Our missing disk has arrived from Randy, so I can now post the next installment. As a side note, let me say again how wonderful Randy is. Not only did I get another disk full of photos making the grand total 1787, I also received another 96 prints in a box. This cost Randy $27 to post to the UK. Hows that for service over and beyond whats expected?
On with the report...........

So we all got back into our outfits and made our way to the limo which was waiting for us at the front of the Boardwalk. I also had a bag full of goodies which I actually remembered:goodvibes. We had requested a 5.15 pick up to get us to the Grand Floridian for our 6pm seating, in actual fact this was way too early and we got there around about 5.30 so we went into the bar next to Citricos for a drink, just to pass the time. When we got the bill it was something like $70:scared1: - I had ordered a white wine spritzer as I wanted something light - so did Mel, these were $10 each!!!!!!!!

At about 5.50 I went to check out if the room was ready for us and I really wanted to be able to take some shots before the room got trashed, and to make sure the bits we had given to Melissa beforehand were out on the table. I also wanted a chance to make sure the little deckchairs were in place with all the little bits on the right chairs, because I had made them so complicated ( though I had boxed each one individually with the name on the box! )
They let me into the room......and it was perfect, everything was just as I imagined, the candles were lit, the deckchairs in place, highchair ready for Ellen and booster seats for Maddie and Lewis.

We were so lucky to get the Chefs Domaine and as it turned out, even luckier as they usually have 2 sittings, the 6pm one that we had and a later one at 8.30. No one had booked the room for 8.30 so they were not in a hurry to get rid of us, but more of that later. We were sure from the very early planning stages that we wanted to eat here, and did everything we could to ensure we got it. We phoned a couple of weeks before the day we could book and spoke to Melissa, the Maitre d', who was lovely, and helpful, and sent us details of their banquet menus. She also pencilled us in for our date. We made sure no one could pip us to the post by booking at 180 days + 10 (thank goodness for this extra 10 day window for Disney hotel guests :worship:) It got a little bit tricky as we were due to sail on the Disney magic the day we could book, but well worth it when our booking was confirmed. It turned out to be an excellent choice.

Anyhow, after I'd taken my photos and seen how good the room looked I went to get everyone else. If any of the staff thought it was strange for the Bride to be wandering around on the own, in her dress, they kept their thoughts to themselves and just congratulated me:) ( In fact, every time we passed the Chefs, or any of the other staff, we got congratulated, it made me feel really special! )

Everyone loved the room and the favors especially for them, though Mel was a bit scared when she saw the bottles of wine everywhere:eek:
We were introduced to our very own waiter, Giovanni (sp?)who was great all night, very efficient without being intrusive. The adults all had personalised menus at their place settings and the children an ammended childrens menu to include the Intermezzo, a Granita sorbet, which was something we had requested. ( On our cruise the adults were served with a sorbet one night and Maddie was upset she had been missed out - the waiter that night ran and got her one, but we didn't want a repeat, hence the request! ) The Adults menu was set, but we still needed to choose for the children off the regular menu.

THE FOOD ( AND FOOD PORN PHOTOS )
We chose the Assorted cheese plate ( $4.00 )as their starter, which came with crackers and grapes. After the sorbet they had Pan roasted fish with roasted potatoes and Broccolini ( $11.00 ), followed by the best childrens desert I've ever seen, called Dalmation Biscuits Eclairs ( $6.00 ), we had no idea as what to expect

These were a real hit, but they were all so stuffed by this point most of the "bones" went in a doggy bag:rotfl: :rotfl:
We had chosen a Banquet Menu for the adults
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18985808am_3dde030.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18985808am_3dde030.jpg&srv=img28)

There were a trio of appetisers
Warm Onion tart with walnut vinegarette
Sauteed Shrimp with lemon, white wine and Feta cheese and
Arancini, a crispy risotto with italian sausage, quattro formaggi and white truffle aioli
http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/6/25/maddiesmum03/f_1000876m_ca5a117.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/6/25/maddiesmum03/f_1000876m_ca5a117.jpg&srv=img37)
These were all delicious, I especially liked the tart. Soon after we finished these, Giovanni brought another starter out. It turned out our menu had been printed with Gateau of Crab with meyer lemon oil and marinated tomatoes instead of the onion tart, so they brought us this as well !!!!

Then Chef came to introduce himself and brought us a "special" starter with spaghetti and prawn, so we actually ended up with 5 starters!!!!!!

The salad was Romaine lettuce with hearts of palm, blue cheese and a Riesling vinaigrette with tomatoes, followed by our Granita Sorbet.

Our main course was a combination of oak-grilled Filet of Beef with house-cured vegetables, quattro formaggi crushed potatoes and veal glase and pan roasted Halibut with pappardelle pasta al olio with crushed olives, black olive oil and basil coulis.

I can honestly say all the food was wonderful, but by time we had all the starters I was too stuffed to eat much else.
The desert was a trio of three bite size creations. I can't remember what each of them were but they were all good, even though I only managed a bite or two!
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18115808am_4976e63.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18115808am_4976e63.jpg&srv=img26)

Because of our extra starters, and perhaps because we were just too slow:goodvibes , we hadn't even got to our deserts and it was rapidly approaching 8pm, but Giovanni let us know that the room was ours for as long as we wanted, so we went with Randy to get some shots outside before desert.............

Great to see pictures of the Chef's Domaine, and in particular the foodie shots, as I've not seen these before, and we're hoping to bag the Chef's Domaine for our reception too!

I think we're gonna skip dessert, coz we'll be heading over to Epcot straight after (so we need to start leaving at 8pm ish) and I don't want us to be too late, or too full!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you pay your bill? Did they bring it over discreetly and you just gave them a card or whatever?
We were wondering about pre-paying in some form, but I'm not sure this would be a service that they offer.....

Also, does the table extend at all, there will be 12 of us and I worry it might be a bit squished, but I think I've read it can seat up to 14?

It really is a great restaurant, I can't recommend it highly enough and next time we go back we will eat in the main room and look longingly into the Chefs domaine......
I was going to go through the menu prices in this report, so here is as good a place as any!

The Menu we chose was called Banquet menu 3 and it cost $95 per person plus tax and gratuity. There were 3 other banquet menus. These are all for parties of upto 40 people, though if there are less than 15 of you ( which there would be in the Chefs domaine as it hold a maximum of 12 ) you can also order from the regular menu. Banquet menu 1 was $70 per person and had the same starters as ours + salad + entree of salmon OR chicken + same desert sampler. Menu 2 is $80 and the same as menu 1 with a larger range of entrees. Menu 4 is $115 and is the same as our menu substituting the Halibut for lobster. There are also buyout menus for parties of over 40 in the main room ranging from $75 to $150 per head.

The minimum spend for Chefs domaine is $650. We thought that with only 5 adults we would just about reach it, but with bottles of wine ( and we had an extra bottle of Fairytale curvee:love: ) our total came to near $1000. Luckily we had our DDE card and saved 20%!!!!!

I think the little bottles you mention are the ones on Iain's deckchair? they are dolls house beer bottles! ( though there are PLENTY of wine bottles of all sizes dotted around Chefs domaine! ) And yes, the sorbet went down very well with the kiddies!

I have many more Chefs Domaine shots to include. You will not be disappointed in your choice if you are lucky enough to bag Chefs domaine, just make sure you book it on that first day. Are you staying on disney property so you can take advantage of the extra 10 day booking window?

The best number for you to call is 407 824 2981. If you can manage to speak to Melissa Brower, she is the Maitre d' who sorted everything for us and she is lovely.
As for the Bill, Giovanni spoke to Iain quietly and he paid with his card. As I've just mentioned, we thought we would just hit the $650 minimum spend, but it was more that that, so Iain handed over his Disney Dining experience card... probably the best $$ we've ever spent!

I'm not sure if the table extends, it felt very "chunky" and we were sitting near the middle, I don't remember any seams where it could extend. There was a fair bit of room at either end with us having 4 people either side. The ends would easily accomodate and extra 2 people each, bringing the total upto 12 which is the maximum number Melissa told us the room could hold.
The room is deceiptivly spacious, you can see from our photos I hope, that we had a baby buggy parked one end and it seemed to take no space at all.

I think I'll call a couple of weeks before on the direct number and let them know we're interested and then call on the booking day to confirm - yes we're on site so can book at the 10 day window. Do you know what time the phonelines open though? Would I get through to the main ADR line before Citrico's itself opens?
I think we're going to buy a DDE card too :thumbsup2 Is it 10% off here at dinner?

I would phone a few weeks before your date and they will pencil you in for the time slot you want. We had even chosen our menu before our date, I hope Melissa is still there, though to be honest all the staff that we had dealings with were good, Melissa wasn't working on the actual day of our wedding, but everything was passed on wonderfully.
As for phoning, I seem to remember there was never anyone to answer the phone before 2pm and once the restaurant gets busy later in the day its also hard to get through, so do all your ground work before your booking day, get pencilled in then phone the reservations line the morning of your booking day:) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
oh! the DDE gives you 20% off, we saved in the region of $200 off the one meal alone:banana:

The beef was what I had on our wedding day!!

Your photos are fantastic... and you had different chairs to me!! Nice to see what dessert looked like! We were really pushed for time as we had to go and meet the Grand 1 and we wanted pics on the beach, so me and hubby skipped dessert (after nearly 12 months of dieting and not eating one single dessert type thing in all that time!!!) and the sampler is what the rest of our party had and not one of them thought to take me a food porn pic! P'ah!!

Thank you! I picked the lanterns up from Waitrose, but that was last summer. They reminded me a bit of sea breeze point!

How can you remember your chairs? without the photos I'd have no idea what I sat on, I'd never make an expert witness:rotfl: :rotfl:
The time goes really quick doesn't it? even without the extra starter I don't think we could have finished up by 8pm. But what a shame you missed those deserts, believe me they were GOOD.( feel free to share my food porn;) ) We didn't have to get to the Marina until 9.15 which worked out just about right. It's funny, I thought we would be hanging around for about an hour with nothing to do!

I am so pleased we decided on the extra package from Randy as I'm really pleased with these beach shots. As I mentioned before, Iain really suffered with the sun in his eyes when we had the photos taken after the ceremony so these ones are better, I think.

So, just to clarify, sort out being pencilled in direct with the restaurant prior to the booking date, but call the main ADR number on the day to confirm?
Does the main ADR number have any record of those that are pencilled in? Does it all go through their computer systems?

And did you mention before hand to the restaurant that you had the DDE card, or did you just hand it over when the bill came and that was the first they knew of it?

Sorry for all these somewhat bizarre questions, I just wanna make sure it all goes smoothly! :rotfl:

Love the new piccies by the way!

Yep, that is what we did, because we didnt want to risk waiting until the restuarant opened, just in case! but I think we could have waited and phoned the restuarant direct and they could have booked it. I have no idea if the details we gave to Melissa had been passed on to Disney dining, or who would have got preference if someone else had phoned DD before us, we just felt better having been "pencilled in" !!!

Regarding the DDE card, no we didn't mention it before handing it over at the end of the meal once the regular bill had been given to us. We thought we wouldn't be much over the $650 minimum, so we wasn't going to bother using it, it was only when we saw the bill :scared1: we decided it was a good idea!

Beautiful pictures!

Thank you, we've now got the hard job of deciding which images to get enlarged. I fancy having maybe 3 canvas images done, but choosing is proving VERY hard!

on with the report......

Once we got back inside we were served desert. The staff were very good in not serving anything when anyone was away from the table, such as for bathroom visits. It's a good job we didn't have weaker bladders, we'd never have got to see wishes:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18925808am_3c405e2.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18925808am_3c405e2.jpg&srv=img27)
Once deserts were on the table I gave out presents. I had already given the children "goodie bags" at the beginning of the meal, but these were just to keep them entertained and away from all those wine bottles stacked around the room!
Here's Maddies twirling a bit too close to those bottles
http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18635808am_e99bc40.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18635808am_e99bc40.jpg&srv=img29)
The goodie bags contained drawing books, crayons and stickers and the bigger "half" of whatever I had used on their deckchair.
Maddie had a tiny King Mickey and Queen Minnie attached to a cushion on her chair - these belonged inside a polly pocket style compact which opened up into a castle.
Lewis had a small Lightning Mcqueen from Cars on his chair. This was remote control and the control was in his bag.
Ellen had a litle princess preschool toy, a bit like the fisher price little people. It was really a bit big for her chair, but tiny toys and under 3's are not a good combination! Her goodie bag contained the horse and carriage, and the rest of the royal party.

I had also bought "real" presents for them as a reminder of the day. Along with a "the day I was a bridesmaid" and "the day I was a pageboy" scrapbooks I got:
Maddie a star shaped silver and diamond locket that says "twinkle twinkle little star"
Lewis a Mickey Mouse watch
Ellen a silver bracelet with her name engraved and a Disney castle charm to go on it. ( we bought Maddie a charm bracelet on her very first vacation, and each time we go away we add another charm, so I quite liked the idea of being able to add to Ellen's charm collection over the years to come too)

Then it was the grownups turn.
I love these photos because Randy managed to capture a classic moment.

Heres Mel opening the box I had wrapped for Her and Ade. I used the same boxes and ribbons as the invitation package.
http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18185808am_ee2e97b.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18185808am_ee2e97b.jpg&srv=img33)http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18165808am_8254e8c.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18165808am_8254e8c.jpg&srv=img37)
There were several little things at the top of the box. A little leather bookmark and a lavender bag in the shape of a dress the same colour as Mel's dress. A framed jumbo Disney pin depicting Mickey and Minnie in a hot air balloon and underneath a "certificate"
We had booked and paid for a balloon flight for them both for the Saturday morning and the "certificate" told them what was happening.
Here's Mels face when she read it....I love this photo!

Then we gave Iain's Dad his present. Same type of box with "bits" - a bookmark, a pair of musical note cufflinks and a framed Disney pin of Pluto playing the saxaphone.( Did I mention his Dad plays the sax and is in a band?)
His main present was a giftcard for the Virgin megastore at DTD.
http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18475808am_e1761f0.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI18475808am_e1761f0.jpg&srv=img37)

We finished the meal with Coffees, Paid the bill and scooped up all our bits and pieces. I've mentioned earlier in this report about the bill. There is a $650 minimum spend for the Chefs Domaine and we did think we would only just make it, but with wine and fairytale curvee the total was quite a bit more, so we used our DDE card for the 20% discount. For any future brides out there, don't even stop and think about whether to splurge out the $$ getting this card with your AP's JUST DO IT. If you are paying for ANY meals for your wedding party at all, the card will probably pay for itself with just one meal. I know this was one extravagant meal, but we saved around $200 on this alone .
Right, I'm off my soapbox again now. We said a fond goodbye to the Chefs Domaine and our waiter, Giovanni, and headed downstairs.
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI16805808am_e95f293.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/7/6/maddiesmum03/f_CI16805808am_e95f293.jpg&srv=img28).
Bride carrying bag :scared1: ( but not for long. This is how good Randy was, he even carried the bag for me:) )
We needed to get over to the GF marina for 9.15, but we still had a little time for a few shots on the staircase.

You know, out of the whole vacation, this was probably the day they behaved the best!!!! But yes, they were all very well behaved, and very patient during the "boring bits" and it was amazing that even little Ellen made it to the end of the day!

Thank you, Maddie spent most of the day twirling, she absolutely loved her dress. Fireworks cruise photos up next.......

Firstly I apologise for the gap, I haven't been on the boards for a couple of weeks because we were busy planning our at home reception, which was a very informal Luau held at home last Saturday, as we are off on "official" honeymoon ( sans relatives! ) to Hawaii in a couple of weeks time. Being me, I made my own cake etc, so I may try to post a few photos at the end of my TR, hoping it's not classed as off topic:goodvibes.

On with the TR

It's lucky Randy was with us to lead the way or we would never have found the marina in time, so much for having plenty of time to spare! We hadn't really kept the fact that we had the Grand 1 secret, it's just that I don't think anyone expected anything quite so grand! I had seen pictures online, but even so, the ammount of "inside" space is amazing, if anyone had not wanted to see the fireworks etc they could quite easily have lounged around inside for the entire cruise. It even has 3 bedrooms! We had booked it for just 1 hour which was plenty and at $450 per hour, enough to spend! We didn't have any refreshments as we knew we would be completely stuffed from Citrico's, which we were!
Everyone explored inside, the Kids loved it! Randy said he'd never been on it before at checked everything out!

Our cruise started at 9.30pm and wishes was at 10.00, so for half an hour we crusied ( quickly) around Bay lake, I say quickly, because we must have circled it at least 10 times, every few minutes we'd wizz past the new buildings at the CR!!!!!, then just before 10, the yacht got into position in front of the MK and the wishes soundtrack was piped in. Watching the fireworks was a little disjointed because we kept turning round for Randy to get some shots.

I think it's really obvious how much the tops of my arms caught the sun in these photos, as I mentioned earlier in my report, one thing I totally forgot was to put sunsceen on the morning of the wedding, silly me:rotfl:
Once wishes was over, we circled Bay lake some more!

At some point during the cruise, Maddie managed to rip the netting on her dress, and the boat was sprinkled with rose petals! Then it was time to head back to the GF marina.
Time for a couple more shots before we finally said goodbye to the Grand 1.

I love the shots on the Grand. Definitely a great ending to your day.

That's funny how you mentioned missing the fireworks. I totally missed Illuminations too at our DP, so I completely understand.

Which islands are you going to in Hawaii? DH and I went to Maui and Oahu in April on our honeymoon.

It was a great ending to a perfect day, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Missing the fireworks didn't really matter, I'll just have to go again;) but there will never be another chance of such great photos:goodvibes
I forgot that you did Hawaii for your Honeymmon, you'll have to PM me with any tips!
After a night in San Francisco, We are cruising on NCL's Pride of America for the first week hopping round Hawaii, Maui and Kauai, then the second week we are staying in Honolulu,Oahu. We are also spending a few days in Las Vegas at the end just to break up the very long journey home to the UK

Thank you everyone, I'm so glad everyone is enjoying my TR as much as I enjoyed both our magical day and reliving it through this report. At the moment my computer room has over 150 wedding photos round the walls as I used it as the "quiet room" during our party last Saturday and I thought it would be a neat idea rather than just putting out Randy's album. The only problem is, I don't want to take them down:laughing:

Definately worth the money as compared to the pontoon boats, if only for the toilet:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Seriously though, we thought our 19 month old neice may be fast asleep by the time wishes was on and the beds would have come in very handy, but she was just as wide awake as the rest of us!

I really want to get this TR finished before we head off to Hawaii in 10 days time, so on with the show.....

What was I thinking? did I really think my hair would still look good the day after the wedding minus it's pins and after a night sleeping on it? Approx 15 minutes before we were due to meet our Disney photographer at the International gateway for our Honeymoon shoot, I decided I'd have to wash my hair, then realised I hadnt enough time, so I just wet it and brushed it and hoped for the best:) Then I started to panic because I rally wanted to wear my heart necklace that Iain had bought me and couldnt find it because I was in such a hurry. I took a deep breath and rechecked all the obvious places and hey presto! there it was!
We got to the gateway with about a minute to spare!
Now, this sounds really bad but neither of us can remember our photographers name, which is no help at all for all you future brides:goodvibes. He was really nice however and I think we got a very good session. First off he took a few shots in the UK, then we walked under the rope and had photos taken in France, Morroco, Japan and Italy. We had taken our bride and groom ears with us and chose to have just a few shots taken in these. It was a beautiful morning and it was great to see Epcot without any crowds. There was a segway tour going on, but other than that all we saw were CM's watering the flowers. It's the first time I've noticed just how pretty all the flower arrangements were and how many there were. Perhaps there were more than normal because the Flower and Garden festival was going on but I think it's more to do with the lack of people and the fact that we usually hit the world showcase in the evenings.
We ended up with a disk with 58 photos on from this session, and a display frame containing two photos. They weren't the photos we would have chosen, not that it matters as we have the disk!. These were delivered to our room 2 days later, which I think is really good. Here's a taster of the ones I like the most.

So exciting to be going on your honeymoon!

You are just a world traveler!!

Not sure if you are renting a car, but the island is not that large.

(Oahu, that is)

If you like quiet and lazing on a beautiful beach with white fine sand (Honolulu / Waikiki beaches are riddled with coral) get directions to
Pokai Bay.

It is where Val and Tori (DD's extraordinaire) first body surfed and used their first boogey board.

Of course, we moved to AZ with no beaches and practically no water, so their skill level has diminished since they were 10 and 8. BUT!!

It will always be our favorite beach, ever!!!

Have loved reading your TR as it brought back so many happy memories from my own!! Isn't the Grand 1 just incredible?! I'm hoping to book it again next year. My Mum, Dad and Son are going back next July and i'm currently trying to convince hubby to go for the 2nd week there are there, and we'll then fly to Vegas for a week by ourselves. Seeing as how my parents pretty much paid for our whole lovely weddng and our complete holiday (The only things we paid for ourselves were the deposits for the chapel and photographer, and the Grand 1 cruise as a way of saying thanks to our guests... )I would really love to arrange something special for them when they are over there. So private dining on the Grand 1 is the way I am heading!

Everything looked perfect on your special day... You made a beautiful bride and your photos reflect what a lovely relaxed and special day it was!

You will LOVE Hawaii... I went twice in 2006 and had the time of my life there. Which hotel are you staying at in Waikiki? Feel free to ask me for any tips and nice places to eat and I know Figment Fan went recently for her honeymoon so she shoud come up with some suggestions. I'd suggest hiring a car... Its really easy to drive over there an I would strongly recommend a visit to Lanaki Beach..... proper 'Bounty Bar' advert scenery!!

Another great installment. Have a great time in Hawaii. We were married there! It is beautiful. We've also gone again with our two girls. I hope you do a trip report of that, too!

We stayed in Waikiki both times. We rented a Jeep both times and drove around the island. What a great experience!

Where will you be staying? What do you have planned? Can I come with you?:) :) :)

Both Chefs Domaine and the grand 1 were perfect choices, I'm glad you feel the same way, and you are right, it was a relaxing way to end the day - apart from the stress of booking them that is:rotfl:
Thats a wonderful idea to treat your parents. Lucky you having nearly everything paid for. With us it was just the opposite, we paid for EVERYTHING , but I don't really want to go there, our wedding day was perfect, and thats all that matters!;)
we are staying at the Ilikai, but in the condo section, not the regular hotel bit. any tips gratefully received:) I'll check out Lanki beach later!

Ah, we stayed towards Diamond Head at The Outrigger on the Beach. Ala Moana shopping mall is fantastic!! You'll have a field day in there!!!

An expensive, but well worth it excursion is a helicopter ride. DS was 10 when he went and it was the highlight of the trip for him... The Dole Plantation from the air looks incredible... Its shaped like a big pineapple!!

Hanauma Bay, about 20-30 mins from Waikiki is well worth a visit, especially if you like to snorkel. Its a nature reserve, so there is a fee to get in... but its stunning.

The 'Swap-Meet' at the Aloha Stadium (just over the street from Pearl Harbour) on a Saturday and Sunday morning... Its like a HUGE open air market selling all kinds of tourist tat, but also some really nice bits and pieces. I'm not a big fan of shopping, but I could have spent hours and hours there!

Pearl Harbour... just because it just doesn't seem right to go all that way without going. Possibly the most moving place I have ever been

We went on a sunset cruise one night which was pretty nice. Meal and drinks included, hawaiian entertainment and the view from the boat back towards Waikiki beach was beautiful... I can't remember the name of the company now, but the boat left from the Ala Moana end of town.

Moose McGuillycuddies (sp) was a good place to eat for decent homecooked food and they served fantastic mai tais. The cheesecake factory had long waits but was, as always, heavenly... and cheeseburger in paradise does a great (funnily enough) cheeseburger. Its not far from the zoo and is a nice place for lunch!

and lastly...

You just can't go to Hawaii without a visit to a traditional Luau. Pretty cheesy really, but great fun, and i'm sure you're DD will love it!!!

You're going to have an excellent time... I'm excited just thinking about your trip!!

You're excited about the trip? I'm mega hyped up now. But why does most of our planning time get spent looking at menus?:rotfl: :rotfl: Iain has a list of places he wants to eat and both Moose Mc.... and the cheesecake factory are amongst them along with Dukes ( a tiki bar? ) We will have a full kitchen, but it IS a holiday and I don't have much intention of spending much time in it!
Iain Dives, and I love to snorkel. I think even Maddie MAY snorkel this holiday( at least put her masked face under the water!) we bought her a junior snorkel set last year and she practiced in one of the ship pools to get her used to salty water, but she wasnt quite brave enough to try it in the sea ( at Cozumel ) . Since then her swimming has come on no end and she always spends more time under the water than on top of it! We fancy going to Hanauma bay when they open late into the evening as Iain wants to snorkel with a torch! I think that is Saturdays only so it will have to be our first night after the cruise.
We also plan to do the Luau at the Hilton Village as that's next door to our hotel ( we are actually staying there our very first night before we cruise which is a friday so we will get to see their fireworks )
Sadly I don't think our budget will strech to a helicopter trip, it's already maxed out. If we couldn't class this trip as a once in a lifetime honeymoon, then we really couldnt justify the cost of it. Airfares are now frightening:scared1: aren't they? of course I need to find some money in the budget to spend at the Ala mona;)
PLEASE keep the tips comming in everyone, and hype me up some more:)

Dukes was the bar below our hotel! The breakfasts are fantastic, and the omlette station is to die for!! Its right on the beach and they have bands playing some afternoons.... Lovely to lie in the sun with a book and a drink listening to the music!!

I can't remember how much our flights were!! We did it all DIY. Hubby and myself are big U2 fans, and they were ending their tour in Hawaii in April 2006, so DH, DS and myself went. Unfortunately, they cancelled the show a few weeks before we were due to fly!! We ended up going anyway for a couple of weeks... They then rescheduled for Dec later that year, and just myself and DH went back... all that way... FOR 5 DAYS!!!! We must be mental!!

*Tootles off to check flight prices*

Oh... 'A House Without A Key' is also a nice place to have dinner. Its at Halekulani Hotel which is just sheer luxury, but its informal dining overlooking the ocean with Hawaiian music playing in the background and FANTASTIC food (and its priced reasonably)

We had a lovely dinner at Duke's one night....it's right on the beach.

More food ideas....when we rented the car, each time we stopped on the North Shore at a place called the Shrimp Shack. There's lots of little shrimp shacks along the way. Best shrimp I ever had. The place we stopped was actually on tv on the Food Network "Beach Eats." You can google it and it comes up.

I'm not sure if they still have it, but once a week there was a family movie night right on the beach.

We went to Jermaine's Luau. Fun!!! We also went on a semi-private catamaran. There was just us, DD was 5 at the time, and another boy and his Dad. Our DD loved it. We saw lots of sea turtles. Looking back towards Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head, the view was amazing. The one we took left from the Outrigger Reef on the Beach.

We did Dole. That was fun, too. And definitely stop by Pearl Harbor. It is such a sacred place....so moving, like another poster said.

There's also a Cold Stone Creamery in Waikiki. It's ice cream. If you've never had it, you should try it. But be prepared, it's a little costly. They make the ice cream with your choice of mix ins on a cold slab of stone right in front of you. They sing for tips, so it has a pretty lively atmosphere in the little shop.

You are going to have a great time!!!!

I just found this about the Shrimp Shack:

Shrimp Shack at a Glance

There are many places to get fresh shrimp on Oahu’s eastern and northern coast. One of them stands out. The bright yellow “Shrimp Shack” wagon in Punaluu catches your eye and once the scent of Irene Theofanis’ delicious home cooked treats hits your nose, you will be convinced to make a stop.

At the Shrimp Shack you’ll find more than luscious fresh local shrimp. Try Irene’s grilled ahi, mussels, crab legs and other island specialties. There is a small outdoor eating area where you can sit down on covered tables and have a chat with other travelers and the locals, who also love to take a delicious break here.

The yellow Shrimp Shack is located right on Kamehameha Highway next to Kaya’s, a small mom-and-pop store where you can get drinks, fun Shrimp Shack T-Shirts and other gifts and treats.

The Shrimp Shack has also caught the attention of nationwide television. It was featured on the Food Network, the Travel Channel and others. It is open every day from 11 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.

You went back? OMG, thats crazy - I hope it was a good concert! We are so not looking forward to the jet lag, specially comming back, and Maddie starts school a couple of days after we return!

If Dukes is over on the Diamond head side of Waikiki, I think we'd be better off going there after doing Diamond head, rather than Iains idea of walking along the beach. It may be a LONG walk, LOL. just looked up A House without a key, menu looks good too, I think I may have to go back on the diet after this holiday;)

Thank you.I can't tell you how happy I was that my dress fit, finally, and I did feel that I'd really acheived something. Unfortunately, it's been a hard slog keeping the weight off as I didnt diet once the wedding was over and couldn't seem to get into the swing of dieting again once we got back, now we are off again and I can't help it, eating is a big part of our vacations, so I definately will have to diet again once we get back. There is no way I want to put all the weight I lost back on, I guess I'm one of those people who constantly needs to diet to maintain their weight. Oh well!:)

After the Honeymoon shoot we wandered back under the rope and headed for the Rose & Crown as we'd arranged to meet everyone outside. We were hoping for a drink, but it was barely 11am and it wasn't even open........we weren't the only ones hoping for a bit of refreshment either. Fancy Disney not cashing in on a chance to sell us something :rotfl: :rotfl:
We spent a good while in Epcot, but we were looking forward to a bit of "us" time that evening as SIL & BIL were babysitting while we went to the Flying Fish.
This turned out to be a lovely meal, and we got the only bit of pixie dust to come our way in there. We had just decided that we couldn't possibly eat a desert, when our waiter came out with a celebration desert for us, it was a kind of creme brulee with berries and a lit candle. Of course between us, we found room for it:rolleyes1

On Saturday, it was our turn to babysit as SIL and BIL went off for their balloon flight. When they got back they said they had a great time but the balloon landed in a gated community and no one would unlock the gate to let them out :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
We had arranged to take everyone to the Luau over at the poly as one of our "thankyou" meals. Iains dad ended up not comming, but they don't give refunds ( so we made sure we at least drank his share of beers;) ) I'm posting a few photos of this, because I know it's a popular choice and when we booked it, I had no idea of what sort of area it takes place in etc.
The area with long tables is covered, but the area in front of the stage isn't. Im not sure if they cancel if the weather is bad, I would guess so. We booked this the very first day we could, 180 days +10 and we booked the highest value seats. I know they allocate the tables in the order they receive bookings, and we got the very centre table at the front. It was a great view, but had it rained then we would have got drenched. Luckily, it was a beautiful evening. The food was good and the entertainment a little cheesey in places, but entertaining. The fire eater was amazing. Of course, I've never been to a real Luau, I'll let you all know how it compares when I get back from Hawaii :)

After the Luau finished we wandered back to the monorail station via the beach area and the Kids cooled off a bit. Of course they weren't dressed for the beach and Maddie managed to dip not only her bottom in the water, but her homemade Lanyard that had said "if my parents get lost you can phone them on....". The ink ran and it got crusted with sand, so that was the last time she wore it. A good idea while it lasted!( but the photos are funny!)

The rest of our Boardwalk stay was uneventful really, we just tried to get as much of the parks done as we could. With all the wedding activities and having family with us, we felt that we really didn't get much park time this vacation. We'll just have to come back again;) maybe we won't do so much decorating next time!!!!

We checked out of the Boardwalk on Wednesday ( six days post wedding ) and headed off to Vero beach for a relaxing week before comming home.We had arranged with Randy to pick up our photos from him en route to Vero.We headed to HS one last time and we had PS's for Maddies favourite "Play and dine and Hollywood & vine". We did this buffet twice on our last visit and knew with 3 preschoolers it was a must do, the foods not half bad either! You get regular visits to the table by Leo and June from the Little Einsteins and Jojo and Goliath from Jojo's circus. The kids ( and me ) get to dance around too, I managed to get some great video footage of our little star dancing with Goliath.

Then it was time to say goodbye to the parks and get the boat back to the Boardwalk on last time. I think I got teary when I saw Sea Breeze Point.
Then a funny thing happened when we were waiting at the front of the hotel for Iain to drive up with our car. A limo pulls up and a bride gets out, followed by a photographer.....who happened to be Randy! When he saw me he came over and gave me a hug and told me he'd left our Photos with the dentist next to his shop because Linda had to go out. It was such a coincidence bumping into him like that, and a great chance to say thankyou.

Just a couple of random photos to finish this bit off.
Heres Iain and Maddie on the Boardwalk, with SBP behind. It really was the perfect location for us, we love the ambiance of the Boardwalk and it really does seem like a "home away from home"

and finally, remember that cute little basket Maddie had full of petals?
well, it wasn't many hours after the wedding before it morphed into a DOG BASKET:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

we own a condo on waikiki beach --not timeshare so as much as I sould like I dont have the adavantage to trade hawaii for orlando -- boo-who. But here are some things I tell everyone to do

1. polynesian cultural center. If time is issue do to do this or a luau. So this one and get the added feast. See the night show -- I can not tell you how wonderful this is * the serve a desert at intermission that is a pineapple boat that will feet 2-3 ppl easy. It is good and refreshing. The PCC center does a short program at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center--- Center stage. I think this is held every othe night. 5-6 pm hawaii time.

2. Once a month there is a street fair -- I think it is sat and sunday -- might be Just sundays now-- there is entertainment- food and it is free :). Hope you are there then. there is also a movie on the beach every Friday and Sat night. bring a blaket or beach chair and enjoy. there are food and drink vendors

3. There is a lighting of the toruches each night near dukes statue. There is a program prefromed by locals. It is fun -- bring your camera.

4. The zoo is one of the best buys in Honolulu it is steps from the famous Kuhio and Waikiki beachs. We would buy an annual pass and husband would take daughter everyday after a morning at beach. The annual pass is a good buy as it lets you also use in most mainland zoos. Check it out. There are activities like sleep in the zoo if you are an annual pass holder -- there are some other activities like that also but I can not think of how they work. sorry.

5. Sealife park-- It is much like seal world but on a much smaller scale. We did enroll my daughter and a gf she invited one year in to the dolpin university. It was an hour of great memories--- it is very spendy.

6 There are stands that sell items to take home -- called Dukes Lane It is next door to Beach comber Hotel. Now let me stress this -- no prices-- so much like mexico-- do not buy at firest stand -- walk around and get better prices as you go ----- also early in the week and late in month prices seem to be lower. Guess they have a quota to :).

7. International Market place Much like Dukes lane. Fun place to shop-- but remember you have to dicker.

8. Tour the tow Hotels that have the most history. Royal Hawaiian and the Moana--the Queen.

9. Do not go to China town late in afternoon. China town I am sad to say needs to have a face lift-- and can be scarey for younger children. (Drunks can be sleeping in the doorways). I do not recomend this to anyone now days-- Honolulu needs to clean up area to bring tpurists back.

10. Use a bag similar to what you would use at Disney-- keep track of your belongings-- yes sad but true some
ppl will follow you to try to get at your belongings.

11 Do get a base tan before you travel. Nothing can ruin a trip to Hawaii like a sun burn.

12. Look like a tourist :). after 20 + years I still do.

13. The "BUS" has been voted best bus service in the United States. And trust me it is. Key thing si when using get a transfer so yuo do not have to pay again.. There is also a 4 day pass.

14. Take a tour. It is best when someone else tells u about the island. and no driving for me.

15. There is a free hula show at the Kodak statium. Fun and gives u dance and music of locals.

16. A must is to go to Pearl Harbor. Take a flower lei and toss in water from the memorial as a tribute to the lost sailors.

17 18 19 20. I have so many ideas for u but will stop for now -- dont want to bore you. If you want some more information jsut pm me.

aloha

Wow, Patty....such a lot of ideas! Thank you soo much. We have already planned to do the zoo, we have annual passes for Brevard zoo, near vero beach and we get free entry into this one too. We also have Maddie signed up for some dolphin encounter at the sealife park ( that she doesn't know about... she will be so excited! ). Other must dos for us include hiking up Diamond head, early in the morning, snorkelling Hanauma bay, the dole plantgation to do the maze with Maddie, and touring each shoreline and hitting a couple of nice beaches. We will also NEED to shop at some point;)

You guys are the cutest family!

Thanks Lynn, Yes it was great running into Randy. You know how it is, after spending a whole day with him for the wedding it was like bumping into a friend!

You managed to keep your hair intact? thats really good! I couldn't wait to get back from Epcot so I could wash my hair, I just wish I had got up earlier that morning and realised what it was like. I hope it doesn't look too bad in the honeymoon photos!
Play and Dine is great isn't it? The first time we went was last year, for an early breakfast and there wasnt many people in there. We got so many interactions with the characters. At one point Jojo sat down at our table and did some colouring with Maddie, I have some great shots of that!

Lovely installment! The pics of Maddie on the beach and at Hollywood & vine are so cute :cutie:

Thank you. Yes I like these photos, it's funny, in real life she seems to be laughing all the time, but when I click the camera, I never seem to catch a smile very often, so when I do it makes the photos all the more special:)

Thank you everyone for your kind words, good wishes and brilliant ideas for our upcomming honeymoon:)

Patty had some great ideas for your honeymoon, I wish I would have had some of her tips during our trip there in May. I totally agree about the Polynesian Cultural Center; it is worth the trip and the evening show is amazing!!!! We also added the dinner show prior to it; the food was fantastic!

Hiking up Diamond Head is so worth it. Although, it is much longer of a hike than we expected :rotfl: Also, I'm sure Maddie will love the Dole Plantation; they have a ton of great stuff for kids! Don't forget to get a pineapple whip here too, it brought back fond Disney memories for us :wizard:

The laua looks great, i'd really like to do that next time! Was the food good? did they have apprioate food for the kids? Were they a bit freaked out by the fire breather?

Oooh......first of all sorry for the delay in this reply, but we are now back from Hawaii and Las Vegas and well and truely back to reality. After months of planning and celebrating it's quite nice to have absolutely nothing planned (except Maddies 5yh birthday party, but that will be really low key!)

Hawaii was great except for the major travelling involved, with flight delays and having to be re routed it took us something like 26 hours to reach San Francisco and then a 5 hour flight a day later to finally reach Ohau. I may get round to doing a TR over on the California & the west board one of these days!!!

Having now done real Hawaiian Luaus several times, I can honestly say the entertainment is quite authentic, with the dancing and fire breather.... with a very Disney esque story line thrown in to pad it all out. The food was good and plentiful. This is the menu, searved "family style"

Tropical Mixed Greens with Mango Poppy Seed Dressing
Pineapple-coconut Bread
Sweet Golden Pineapple

Island Barbecued Pork Ribs
Lanai Roasted Chicken
Polynesian Rice
Fresh Seasonal Vegetables

Tropical Beverages

All you can drink:
Bud and Bud Light Draft Beer
Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay
Tea, Coffee, Milk, Pink Lemonade, Sprite, Coke, Diet Coke
Hot or Iced Tea and Milk

Dessert - Kilauea Volcano Delight

There was also the usual mac and cheese and hot dog type kiddie menu, but ours ate from the adult selection and loved it. I'm glad we did it, and I'm expecially glad we booked so far ahead and managed to grab the very best table. The only problem with booking for a party is you need to pay up front, unlike other disney dining reservations. At nearly $60 each, thats a lot to pay out bearing in mind they DONT give refunds. ( Iain's dad didn't make it to our meal and we were told we couldn't get any money back)

Anyhow from one Luau to another, I'm not going to go off topic :scared1: and post loads of pictures of our at home Luau reception. It went really well and we had around 70 people here. Luckily it was one of the few beautiful days we have had here this summer and most people spent the entire evening outside. I was determined to make my own wedding cake for this party and I wanted it to have a tropical feel. I spent hours making an Icing Mickey and Minnie in Hawaiian dress to go on top, but they were too big and I wasn't sure, then Minne fell over and her grass skirt got wrecked so I just went with flowers instead. Perhaps having ONE cake with Mickey and Minnie is enough anyhow:goodvibes

And that is just about it. I want to thank EVERYONE who has made nice comments about our photos and ideas. As I said on the very first page I loved everything about our Disney wedding, if I had to plan it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. If you are a bride to be reading this I think the majority of the past Disney brides out there would agree with me in saying Disney weddings are the best. They are individual, romantic, entertaining and FUN. They are whatever you want them to be. Ours really was the best day of our lives.;)

You teach cake decorating? how cool !
Thank you for your praise, I've made cakes for years now and I have done wedding cakes for other people. I always said that if I got married again I would make a cake for each table, but of course our wedding didn't turn out that way!!!!!
I made it as fruit cake so I wouldn't have to stress about decorating it just before the party when I had everything else to do. Although I cut up one of the bottom tiers at the Luau, We still have cake to eat!

perhaps I ought to redecorate the top tier for Maddies birthday!!!!! ( only joking, but my birthday is in January and I still remember my mum not letting anyone cut the christmas cake because she wanted to re ice it for me:rotfl: :rotfl: )
