We are planning our first Disney trip for Decemeber 28-Jan 3. Someone who has been there then. Is there something special for NewYears? Is it a really busy season at DW? Are there any extra special events?

Thanks

It is VERY busy during that time...but well worth the New Year's Celebration!!! My husband and I were there this past year for our honeymoon!!! Epcot has an amazing display of fireworks as well as DJ's in several countries, party hats and horns and LOTS of magic!!!

My best advice is make dinner reservations ASAP...and be prepared for a lot of people...the park usually hits capacity within the first hour or so of being open...and if you are not staying on site...you won't be able to get in...and if you do get in...don't plan on leaving!!!

Disney during the holiday season...is breathtaking!!!

Hope this helps!!!

I have been twice during New Years. The first time was AWFUL. The parks were filled to capacity within an hour of opening, as pp mentioned, and people were plain rude. Everyone was in a bad mood and you could barely walk around, much less do anything. The second time was not quite as bad, but we didn't expect as much. The holiday season is a wonderful time to be there...the NYE fireworks are amazing. Hope you have fun!

will be wall-to-wall people, because Christmas week is absolutely the busiest week of the year there. Unless you simply must experience WDW at that time or can't get off any other time, you should probably consider waiting a few days or go a couple of weeks earlier. The first week of January is very quiet there and the Christmas decorations (including the Osborn lights) are all still up. The first couple of weeks of December are even quieter, crowd-wise, and there are lots of Christmas pageants and celebrations to get you in the Christmas spirit. If you do still decide to go for that week, you can see the same holiday shows as earlier in December (or November, for that matter), and there are spectacular fireworks everywhere on New Year's Eve. I suggest California Grill, if you can get it, which has the best view (IMHO) of the MK fireworks show, but get that reservation 180 days to the day in advance, because you'll be amazed at how fast reservations there will go. Also, as someone said above, get all your other ADRs ASAP, because that week is so busy. Hope this helps. :wizard:
