The Grandstand buildings are close to the largest quiet pool, and Grandstand has the first SSR bus stop for pickups/dropoffs. If you want to be guaranteed a seat on the bus when you leave SSR for the parks/DTD, this is the way to go.

I prefer Congress Park, Grandstand or The Springs section. CP is closest to DTD. The Springs/main pool area is sandwiched in between CP and the Grandstand sections. The quiet pool at CP is beautiful.
Since you've never been, I would probably ask for CP with a DTD view. You know I love pics ;) , so I attached some of the quiet pool at CP and the view from the pool of DTD. It is really awesome!!! Plus, about a 5 minute walk to DTD, tennis courts, the main pool, and food to boot!!! The nice thing about CP, too, is if you don't have a car, you can catch a bus at SSR to any park. Then, you can go to DTD and catch a bus to any resort. That way, if you want to visit, you don't have to go to a park or to the main hub to hop a bus to get to another resort.

I have to admit, I loved Congress Park area. We loved being able to walk right on over to DTD. And, it would be really easy to grab a bus from there to any resort, or even one of the parks! And I will agree with Buckeye, the quiet pool was really nice!
