late check-in question

We will be staying at the Dolphin in late July. Unfortunately we likely won't arrive at the hotel until midnight or worse. Does this eliminate any possibility
of getting a decent choice of rooms or upgrades?

My experience with a late check in was good. It was last August and we checked in around 11PM and I got the buiding that I requested. This was at the POLY. Hopefully, you will have no trouble.

While I can't speak for Disney hotels at other hotels I have been upgraded simply because I was late and they had filled up the "cheap rooms" So maybe you will get lucky!

My understanding, after speaking with a room controller, is that since all rooms are assigned BEFORE arrival, it doesn't matter what time you check-in. That seems to be the case in my experience--I've checked in early and gotten bad room locations, checked in late and gotten a good one and vice versa. I'm not sure if that applies to the S/D, though.
