what type of phone cards for ship's crew?

I have read several suggestions on the board about giving phone cards along with the tips for waiters, stewards etc. As I use my own calling card, what type of cards should I get and can you buy them at a local pharmacy ?

You can get a great rate at Sam's Club or Costco. Just make sure that the cards will be good for international calls, as that is what most of the crew members use them for. Also, be aware that the number of minutes listed on the card is generally for use within the U.S., so they will get way fewer minutes (sometimes as little as 8 for a 45 min. card, but at least they get a chance to say "hi" to their family).
