1. Noticed that North Face have now opened a store at Prime, anybody been and if so is it worth a visit?
2. Winn Dixie/Walmart/Publix? Have all three within a couple of miles of house we have rented. Which is best value? Winn Dixie seem to have a form of loyalty card, can you sign up for this in store, is it worth having?
3. Shopping will be on the agenda and although have a preference for A&F see that Hollister seem to offer as good a selection at lower prices. Is Hollister an A&F brand? and is there a noticable difference in quality? Also be looking for Levi's/Merrell shoes/Crocs, any suggestions on best places to shop.
4. Will be there for 4th July, booked Discovery Cove. Do the main stores (Macy's etc.) have sales around this time? If so do these run only on the day, or over the holiday period?
Comments/observations gratefully received.

Welcome to the DIS, bonoisgod - great to have you here. :goodvibes
I've been to Pr1me, but I don't think the North Face store was open then. If it was, I don't remember it.
Of the three supermarkets you mention, WalMart is probably the cheapest, but I prefer Publix. I'm not a fan of Winn-Dixie. Where is your villa?
Yes, Hollister is an A&F brand. I can't say there's a huge difference in quality. Hollister is deliberately priced lower to target a slightly different demographic.

Thanks for the reply UKDEB.
Staying in Southern Dunes, I know its a few miles away from Disney etc. but got the house on a really good deal. There seems to be a Walmart and Winn-Dixie at the entrance to SD and a Publix a couple of miles away. Last visit to Orlando was 97 although visited Gulf Coast in 99 and remember that Publix seemed ok. Also had Albertsons then but there doesnt seem to be one close by this time.
Think North Face has only just opened, hoping they might have some good bargains.

Albertsons is my favourite, but you're right, there's not one near Southern Dunes. I'm not familiar with that particular Winn-Dixie, so it might be better than the one I've used. There are plenty of people here who have stayed there, so I'm sure someone will be along soon to help with that and your other questions.

There is a walmart literally right next to the entrance to southern dunes. The road into the estate runs up the side of walmart. Theres loads of shops and food places around about. If i remember correctly there is a checkers, burger king, taco bell, pizza hut, dominos and a mcdonalds.
There was also a liquer store which sells British imports if your looking for any alcohol. I only really drink strongbow, and only discovered this place a couple of nights before coming home!!

There are branches of both A&F and Hollister at the Florida Mall and Mall at Millenia. A&F at Mall at Millenia is a fairly recent addition.

Southern Dunes is close to Haines City and very much south of all the villa developments.
There is a Walmart and Winn Dixie closeby but for groceries I really prefer Publix.
I liken Walmart to Aldi and Publix to Tesco personally.
The 3 nearest Publix are below, I am only familiar with the one at Champion's Gate.

i bought a nice pair of hiking shoes at north face...
booking discovery cove for the 4th is a brilliant idea...since they only let a certain number of people in, you'll be much better off than in WDW, where it gets packed that day...
as for 4th of july sales, typically they last longer than one day....i don't know what day of the week the 4th falls this year, but if it's close to the weekend, the entire weekend will have 4th of july sales...

Winn Dixie card can be signed up for in store (takes minute or 2 - ask at customer relations) - you may well have to give a US address to qualify (although I can tell you that I signed up for 1 two years ago and have NEVER recieved anything in the mail from them). Is worth having as often the sale prices listed on items in the store are only if you have the card - and its free. (Used to be the case that you could just request they use the house card at check out to qualify for sale prices but increasingly supermarkets are refusing to do this)
Walmart is cheaper. But soul destroying. :headache:

hi
I think the worse thing about walmart is that they never have enough staff on the checkouts for me it has to be super target they are never crowded and have a great fruit and veg section right at the front of the store.

Great idea. We did DC on Christmas Day so we avoided the big crowds at the main parks. As Disneyholic family said, they only let 1000 people in per day and it's so relaxing and chilled out in there.
