THinking about renting out my 2002 BCV points (I have 210), but wondering about experiences here. If you have rented out points before, how did you handle payment? Did you ask for payment in full? DId you ask for a deposit and balance later? Just wondering what's par for the course here?

The rental details will vary from person to person, so there is no "official" policy on what is normal.

You should plan something that you are comfortable with and then put yourself in the renter's shoes and try to find something that you would be ocmfortable with from that side. Win/WIn situations are always more satisfying for everyone.

Some of the answer depends on how soon the trip would be. If you have to make a reservation for a trip within 30 days- you better get full payment in advance or you'll be stuck with the holding account if paymert is not received.

If you have several months until the reservation date, you can be more flexible, if needed.

Good Luck!

I have been a renter. I paid sent a check for payment in full right after the owner had made the ressie. I independently confirmed the reservation before I sent the money. She sent me the official reservation on DVC letterhead-- I might have waited for that to send the money, I can't remember. The reservation was just four months away, so this seemed fair to me. If the reservation was 11 months out or something, you might do something like a payment plan, 50% down, and then some kind of a schedule. Speaking for the point of view of a renter, it is a little scary sending off payment in full; but I understood the renter's position and that she had a short window before her points expired. So, she had to know I wasn't a deadbeat ;)

This is just one experience.
